(Philippians 1:21) Ashley Mellen, a beloved wife, mother, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away at her family home in Memphis, TN on April 4, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with colon cancer. Ashley Marie Adams Mellen was born on February 9, 1981 in Memphis, TN.

Married to the love of her life, Eric Mellen on April 13, 2013, Ashley and Eric shared a passion to honor Christ in everything they did and to build a life and family based on the principles of selfless love and respect. They eagerly welcomed each of their three children into the family and have been raising them with the same passion. As a family, they enjoyed long walks, parks, and the Zoo, shopping trips to Costco, Friday pizza & movie night, and planning fun excursions, going to the beach, spending time with extended family, and many ministry opportunities. Ashley continuously sought to add fun and meaning to the celebration of life events, birthdays, and holidays by establishing family traditions. Her greatest joy was appreciating and nurturing the uniqueness of George, Jane, and Jack. She shared her love of learning with her children through homeschooling, but more than anything else, Ashley dedicated herself to teaching her children to love the Lord and others as she and Eric had committed.
Ashley's love for God and people was evident in everything she did. Living out her faith in the service of others, Ashley brought hope and joy to all who knew her. She loved her current church home, Mission Church, where she took part in the former Hopeful Hearts Ministry Group, served in children’s ministry with her husband, and participated in Bible study and worship.
Ashley’s life verse was Romans 15:13, which says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Her resolute faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she inspired all who knew her with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to living a life that reflected God's love and grace. Her final days were filled with encouraging others to love, trust, and know her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Although her impact on the lives of those around her will never be forgotten, Ashley's legacy of faith and service will continue through her children and those she touched inspiring generations to come.

Vanessa Marie Pyatt - February 02, 1974 - March 07, 2023

Departed: 03/07/2023 (Memphis)
Obituary Preview: Vanessa Marie Pyatt 1974 - 2023
Vanessa Marie (Arispe) Pyatt, 49 of Collierville, TN was called to her heavenly home on March 7, 2023, after a 5-year battle with Melanoma.
Vanessa was someone who always gave 100% to whatever she worked on from working at Dairy Queen in high school to being a Lease Accountant at FedEx. From a young age she always wanted to be a Tupperware Lady and she achieved her goal and so much more.
Vanessa went to college at Mississippi State University, where she majored in Accounting, made a bunch of life-long friends, and met her husband over a game of Hearts.
Vanessa was a wonderful wife, sister, and daughter. She always put others first in her life. She was the love of our life – our emotional support and cheerleader. Even to the end, she wanted us to be happy, to live on, to take what she taught us and share with others. She was the light of our life.
Vanessa loved her children and made sure to be involved. She was always a volunteer for room mother, PTA treasurer, Scout treasurer, and school carpool driver. She would support her boys in Scouts even when there were too many bugs. She made sure they had a chance to play music as she had always wanted to. Being there for them when they fell down, needed help with homework, and fell ill.
Vanessa was a great friend, who always wanted to know what was going on in your life; was always ready for a game of Bunco, Monopoly, Sorry, Uno or a puzzle. She enjoyed Book club even if reading the books themselves made her fall asleep (audio books were a lifesaver). She impacted our lives and showed us what it meant to be a true friend by inviting her friends to be family.
Vanessa was into crafting and created beautiful handmade cards and scrap books. She was always learning to do more. She wanted us to enjoy her hobbies with her and would find ways for everyone to craft with her by making projects we could also do, teaching us how to use her supplies, and hanging out in her craft room.
Vanessa loved new recipes and was a great baker. She made homemade birthday cakes, sweet treats and delicious desserts.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years Jason Pyatt, two handsome young sons: Ethan Alexander Pyatt (19) and Zachary Evan Pyatt (15); her sisters: Adriana (Arispe) Moore, Natalie Arispe, Kim (Linsenbardt) Brei, and Stephanie Payne; her brothers: Joe Arispe and Eric Linsenbardt; her mother, Paula Linsenbardt and her stepfather, Abbie Linsenbardt. She was preceded in death by her father, Danny Arispe.

Lawrence Minter Anderson - March 10, 1930 - March 01, 2023

Departed: 03/01/2023 (Memphis)
Obituary Preview: Obituary for Lawrence Minter Anderson, Sr. March 10th, 1930-March 1st-2023
Lawrence Minter Anderson, Sr. (Larry) passed from this life to eternal life in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in Memphis, Tennessee on March 1st, 2023, having lived a long and full life of love and service to his Lord, his family and his church. He was 92 years old.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 9th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, at Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, TN in the Chapel. The celebration of Larry’s life will begin at 5:00 pm in the Chapel. The private family graveside service will be earlier that day at Arlington Cemetery. A livestream of the memorial service will be available online at bellevue.org/live/community. Larry Sr. was born in Normal, TN ( on Normal Street, then a suburb of Memphis, now a part of the University of Memphis campus) on March 10th, 1930 to David Minter and Irene Robinson Anderson . He graduated from Tech High School in Memphis, TN. As a young boy, he collected baseball cards, at one time owning an original Babe Ruth trading card. He was also a Boy Scout, and later became a Scout Master, leading his son’s Boy Scout troop. Growing up in the Depression era, and during World War II, he was always seeking ways to earn money to help his family. Creative, and with a knack for selling, he would go early on Saturday to the local barber shop and take a prime seat. When the shop grew crowded, he would spot a customer and say, “Would you like my seat, Sir? You can have it for a dime.” The customer would happily accept, and Larry had his dime for a movie and popcorn!
His first real paying job, to help put food on the family table was at the Burkhart-WeOna grocery in Memphis. He learned the grocery business well in all aspects, from stocking, to sweeping, to selling. It was the selling part he really loved. His next job, also in the grocery business, was with John Gray and Sons, where he worked with Charlie Babb, whose nephew would one day marry one of Larry’s granddaughters. He went from there to the hardware business, selling refrigerators, which were fast replacing the old fashioned ice boxes.
He left Memphis to go to school at Union University in Jackson, TN, where he managed the food stores for the school cafeteria to pay for his tuition and board. When that position was cut due to financial hard times at the school, he returned to Memphis, and entered the old Mid-South Bible Institute. It was here that he first met Rose Mary Partain, and was forever smitten. On their first date, he announced that he was going to marry her, to which she replied, “We’ll see about that!” Their romance developed when Rose Mary, who served as the organist at the old Trinity Baptist Church, recruited Larry to teach 4th grade Sunday School. Larry found a new calling, and went on to teach 4th grade Sunday School for over half a century. He and Rose Mary were married on June 1st, 1952, in a lovely outdoor wedding in her mother's flower garden.
Larry's sales career continued, as he sold insurance for National Life and Accident, going on to sell printing for Baber Printing Company. He later moved into specialty advertising with the Decker Company, and then became the Regional Sales Manager at Ancorp National Services (formerly Memphis News Company). He began his own business, Larry Anderson Associates, in 1972, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. He loved selling and making his customers happy, and his favorite saying was, “Selling is like shaving-if you don’t do a little every day, you’re a bum.”
Through the years, Larry served the Lord faithfully at Temple Baptist, (where he was saved) Trinity Baptist (where he was licensed to preach), Cherokee Baptist, where he was ordained as a deacon, serving alongside Rose Mary, where she was organist and choir director. They then moved to First Baptist Memphis, where they continued to teach children together, and she continued singing in the choir. Being led of the Lord to be under the ministry of Dr. Adrian Rogers, they moved to Bellevue Baptist Church in 1979, continuing their work with 4th graders and the choir. Larry also served as a deacon for many years.
Larry Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, David and Irene Anderson, his sister, Dorothy, and his dear Rose Mary. Survivors include his son Larry Anderson, Jr. , married to Pam, his daughter, Mary Lea Anderson Tucker and his beloved niece, Lauralan Terrill Grisoni, married to Bernard; his grandchildren-Josh Tucker, married to Annie, Becca Babb, married to Jay, Christen Bresnahan, married to Tim, Larry Anderson III, married to Anna, Mollie Anderson Tatum, married to Ben, David Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Rose Anderson Sidhom, married to Noah, and his great nieces Elise Grisoni and Gabrielle Grisoni. He also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren: Katie Tucker, James Babb, Caroline Babb, Maric Bresnahan, Jude Bresnahan, Rory Bresnahan, Ethan Anderson, Emma Anderson, Evan Anderson, Ellis Anderson, Eliza Anderson, Daniel Tatum, Sam Tatum, Emily Tatum, Asa Sidhom, August Sidhom, Ellee Sidhom and Meg Sidhom, and many special nephews and nieces.
Larry Anderson, Sr., lived a full, wonderful life, spending his time outside of work and church supporting Rose Mary in her many musical endeavors, and attending countless recitals, concerts, birthday parties and graduations for his grands and great grands. He loved to read history and the Bible, along with a good John Grisham book from time to time. He worked to instill in his grands and great-grands a passion for history and the word of God. His story-telling was legendary, and his fudge was the best.

Stephen Ramsey - June 18, 1950 - February 11, 2023

Departed: 02/11/2023 (Memphis)
Obituary Preview: Stephen Lafon Ramsey of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. For 72 years, Steve lived a life filled with passion and adventure. He was born to the late Robert and Eugenia Ramsey on June 18, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky. His love for adventure began at a young age. As a boy, Steve lived in Nicaragua and was able to speak fluent Spanish. He was even able to acquire exotic pets like a monkey and an ocelot, named Spot. After several moves, his family landed in Memphis where Steve attended White Station High School, graduating in 1968. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration at Memphis State University where he was part of Pi Kappa Alpha and graduated in 1973. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he came to know and follow Christ.
Steve had a love for aviation his entire life. In 1977, he became a bag handler at Southern Airways where he met and fell in love with his wife, Cheryl. While there, he was a flight instructor and would ferry airplanes to build his flight time. He started his commercial airline career in 1981 with Sunbelt Airlines. He landed his dream job flying for FedEx in 1995 where he retired as an Airbus Captain in 2015. Steve couldn’t stay grounded for long though and went on to fly corporate aviation after retirement.
Affectionately known as The Ram, Steve was deeply committed to his family, friends, and flying. He had an innate ability to connect with everyone he met, never meeting a stranger. His gentle heart, rambunctious energy, extreme wit, and love for adventure made him a friend to many over his lifespan.
In his younger years, Steve was known to take his buddies up in the air. He gave many of his friends the bug for flying and instructed them to become professional airline pilots themselves. Flying took him all over the globe allowing him to experience different cultures, cuisines, and adventures. After 40 years of flying and 20 years with FedEx, Steve continued experiencing and loving the skies up until the week he flew west one last time.
Steve was also an avid boater. When he wasn’t in the air or doting over his grandchildren, you could find him out on Pickwick Lake. He loved going fast, making all his passengers hold on tight. He adored his sons and was known to talk about them constantly until his grandchildren arrived and took over his conversations. One of his greatest honors was being called Pops. When on land, you could find Steve cheering them on from the stands, creating memories at Mops Camp, and making them belly laugh for hours.
Steve is survived and loved by his wife of almost 43 years, Cheryl Ramsey. He leaves behind two sons, Preston (Shelby) and Phillip (Elisabeth); his five grandchildren, Macallen, Price, Porter, Walker, and Madelyn; younger brother Mark Ramsey (Carol); and many cousins he loved dearly; as well as his beloved pets Milly, Yuka, and Jingles.

A graduate of Pontotoc High School in 1966, Pam later attended ICC and Delta State. She continued classes in Birmingham in Respiratory Therapy.
Despite her fight with Myasthenia Gravis for 55 years, Pam remained very active her entire life. She and Ted enjoyed traveling and looking for antiques to buy, repair and sell in several antique malls. Her talents were noticed and her booth was used for the mall's advertisement.
Pam also had a great passion for making clay dolls and especially her Santa's that were featured in the "Doll Artistry" magazine. She sold many of these beautiful Santa dolls and gave them to her family and special friends. Her gift of decorating made each a unique gift.

Obituary Preview: Brandon "Tyler" Patterson
Our beloved cowboy, golfer, Mississippi State cowbell-ringing, cattle-loving, plane-flying, mint Oreo-eating, black cowboy hat-wearing, God-fearing, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend Brandon Tyler Patterson (Tyler) flew into the arms of Jesus on January 17, 2023. Tyler was born on October 9, 1989 in Ft. Stewart, GA to Derick and Becky Patterson. He spent his first 18 years of life in Clanton, AL where his cowboy career started as his maternal grandfather “Pop” was his cow-showing buddy, his dad taught him the skills of life on the family farm, and his fraternal grandfather “Papa” inspired his love of riding and training horses.
Growing up, his only 2 cousins (Ashley & Kinsley) were as close as sisters. Ashley, the closest to him in age, joined right in on all of Tyler’s adventures, mostly at the risk of her own safety. He graduated in 2008 from Chilton County High School, where he excelled in his studies, served as a leader of the student government and the President of the FFA, and made plenty of time (and skipped more than a few classes) for hunting and fishing with his friends. He immensely enjoyed his years as a high school athlete, standing out as a catcher, a quarterback, and a shooting guard. Following high school, Tyler became a Mississippi State Bulldog, studied Animal and Dairy Sciences, roped on the rodeo team, and fell in love with his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Emme) Andrews. They were married on May 31, 2014, and spent the following 4 years cheering on the bulldogs and competing with their horses while Emme completed veterinary school.
They moved to Germantown, TN in 2018 where he enjoyed his job as an Animal Research Supervisor for UT Health Science Center, while hustling after-hours to grow his dream of cattle ranching. Tyler’s faith in Jesus was strengthened and enriched through the men and ministry of Downline and Harvest Church, where he served as a member. On March 31, 2020, Tyler and Mary Elizabeth welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth Charlotte (Elsie) Patterson. Shortly after, on January 10, 2022, they welcomed their son, John Brandon (JB) Patterson. Tyler tenderly engaged and cherished Emme and their children, and kindly served his family and friends in every regard.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, daughter Elsie, son JB, parents Becky and Derick, grandmothers Peggy Johnson and Sandra Patterson, Aunt (who cared cared for him like her own) Gay Patterson, Uncle Shane Patterson, cousins Ashley Northcutt (Hunter, children Heidi and Ella) and Kinsley Summerlin, parents in-law Rad and Maureen Andrews, brothers in law Chuck Andrews (Lydia), Cobb Andrews (Rachel), Stephen Andrews (Angela), Walter Andrews (Haley), David, and Drews, sister-in-law Sarah Smith (Hunter), nephews Darby, Hudson, Russell, Whitt, Radford, James, Ryder, Knox, Will, Walker, Harrison, Hayes, Bennett, Thompson, and Ford, nieces Brooks, Claire, Caroline, Abigail, Lucy Walt, Ellett, Harper, Allie, and Avery. The burial will take place in Clanton, AL on Tuesday January 31, 2023 following a visitation at 1:00 PM and memorial service at West End Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.
Graveside service will be for family only. West End Baptist Church: 2005 2nd Avenue North, Clanton, AL 35045. Obituary Preview: Our beloved mother, Vivian H. Williams (age 84) peacefully entered Heaven on January 15, 2023. Always with a smile on her face and a pep in her step, Vivian filled the lives of those around her with love and kindness. Vivian was born to Mary E. Garner and Paul Holliman on March 5, 1938 in Memphis and had three siblings whom she dearly loved. She graduated from Humes High School and School of Cosmetology in Memphis.
Vivian met Don, they married in July of 1961, and went on to have two children, Brent and Tammy. Together, they filled their lives with lots of wonderful and joyful memories.
If you knew Vivian, you know that she and her sister, Mary Frances Nix, were two fun inseparable sisters. Together, they co-owned Coiffure Des Soeurs Beauty Salon from 1982-2019. After ‘retirement’, they planned monthly visits to spend time together. The beauty salon was Vivian’s second home in which she poured her heart and soul into each customer she worked with thus leading to many lifelong friendships. She still continued to do hair until this past August of 2022.
In 2002, she moved in with her daughter Tammy, her husband Joe, and their 3 rambunctious boys. She enjoyed the chaos so much she even built herself a mother-in-law quarters attached to their home. Each morning she would feed her cats, and walk out her front door with her coffee to be greeted by her two peacocks and multiple chickens who were eagerly awaiting her to give them their morning snack of bread crumbs before their breakfast. Most days consisted of her collecting chicken eggs from her flower pots by the front door and spraying the chicken poop off her porch while watering her flowers in which she just giggled because she just loved those crazy birds so much.
In addition to being a dedicated, loving mother and grandmother, Vivian enjoyed weekly shopping trips to JCPenney’s in which she even made her final run just 6 short weeks ago. She also enjoyed attending Bible Studies on Tuesday mornings with the ladies, PT Cruiser runs on Monday nights, and loved creating special wreaths from scratch for her close friends and family for all the holidays year-round. Throughout Vivian’s entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. In her earlier years, she enjoyed ministering to the women in the Kairos’ Prison Ministry, she taught children’s church and Sunday school for many years as well as college and career classes. She attended Raleigh Assembly of God for most of her life and was currently a member of First Assembly of God in Memphis.
Vivian joins her beloved mother Mary E. Garner and father Paul Holliman, brother Charles Holliman, sister Mary Frances Nix, and brother Jr. Holliman in Heaven.
