Benjamin “Benji” Craig Wilson, 30, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born June 12, 1989 to Terri Dixon Tillman and Dennis Wilson and lived here all of his life. Benji was a 2007 graduate of Tattnall County High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Aeronautics and was currently pursuing his Master’s Degree. He was previously employed with Wilson Brother’s Inc, John Deere and KBR Contracting in Iraq. Benji was an Aircraft Coordinator with Gulfstream for the past 8 ½ years and was avid in martial arts at NAGA. He loved the outdoors, the Florida Gators, the Atlanta Braves and being at the river. Benji was also an ordained minister and was a loving husband and father who adored his three boys. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alan Dixon, Emmitt Wilson and Frank Pelletier. He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time with his family. Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet Fitzgerald, brother, Terry Fitzgerald, sister, Virginia Thomas and great grandson, Avery Waters. She was born February 14, 1955 to Cecil and Ernestine Wetherington Groover and lived in this area most of her life. Linda was a 1973 graduate of Pinewood Christian Academy. She was employed with University of Georgia Board of Trustees, Page Foundation and Savannah College of Art and Design as major gift director. She had a giving spirit and loved to help people. Linda assisted many organizations in fundraising and charitable events. She was a member of the Glennville First Baptist Church and is preceded in death by, her father. She is survived by: Children, J.P. Griffin (Leah) of Atlanta, Georgia Philip Griffin of Glennville, Georgia Mother, Ernestine W. McDonald "Don" T. Hunt - November 07, 1944 - June 30, 2019

Obituary Preview: McDonald T. "Don" Hunt, 74, passed away June 30, 2019 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA. He was born on November 7, 1944 in Cuba, Tennessee to Annie Lorene & Hal Arthur Hunt. Don was a United States Army Staff Sergeant. He served as a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam, 1964 and was decorated for actions in combat. After his time in the Army, Don went on to work for Civil Service at the Department of Public Works on Ft. Stewart as a Post Engineer. He retired in 1999 with over 20 years of service. Don is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Hunt. He enjoyed nothing more than quality time with his family. He would spend hours cooking on his many grills, frying bacon and eggs for his grandchildren and showing you his prize catfish in his pond. Having grown up in the suburbs around Memphis, he often spoke of his childhood and his encounters with Elvis Presley on the street in front of his house. He was a huge fan!
He had a love of quarter horses. He enjoyed showing them in regional Horse Shows over in Perry, GA. He would spend hours down at his barn caring for them and saddling one up for a ride. He once put swings on his round horse-walker so that his grandchildren would enjoy their time at the barn along with pony rides in the yard.
Don spent the last 9 years of his life confined to a wheelchair. He showed us all how to live a life well lived. He made the best of his condition, time and time again, and was still able to camp, fish and garden in his yard.
He is survived by his former spouse, Dorothy Susan Hunt of Metter, GA. Four children: Kimberly Wead (Sean) of Alexandria, VA, Bubba (Kim) Hunt of Statesboro, GA, Donnie (Emily) Hunt of Ludowici, GA and Tommy (Suzanne) Hunt of Metter, GA. A brother, Frank (Shirley) Hunt of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. A few instrumental people in his life that showered him with years of friendship, his brother-in-law, Don (Jean) Melton of Glennville, GA and Billy W. Gay of Hinesville, GA. He has nine grandchildren who adored him and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, GA. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, GA. Burial will be in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.

She was a very talented artist and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David M. Meeks. After retirement she loved spending time working on the farm with her animals and hunting. She was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau and Savannah Association of Flying Air national Guardsmen. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church where she served as custodian for 25 years and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. William Bryant “Bill” Flury, 72, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born on October 29, 1946 in Soperton, Georgia to Sylvia and William B. Flury. Bill was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served in the Vietnam War where he was the recipient of numerous awards to include, A Purple Heart, Vietnamese Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation. While serving his country, in 1970 Bill moved to Tattnall County and in 1972 married Francine Todd. He retired from the Department of Corrections at Georgia State Prison in 1989 and was a deacon and member of Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
He leaves precious memories to, his wife, Fran Flury; two sons, Arie Bryant Flury and Shannon P. Flury, all of Glennville; three grandchildren, Aubrey Flury, Ariel Flury Anderson (Ben) and Scott Flury; two precious great grandchildren, Macie and MaKensley Anderson. At age eighteen, she married the love of her life, Barney McCoy (B.M.) Durrence Jr. While raising five children, the couple worked hard on their Mendes farm growing tobacco and raising chickens. Sarah loved family gatherings, cooking, and reading stories to her grandchildren. All her family called her “Granny,” a name which she was proud to be called. She was a faithful member of the Harmony United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School to youth for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney McCoy Durrence Jr; her parents, Mattie Lou Howard and Dennis Burch; sons in law, Danny Thomas and Allen Randall; and great granddaughter, Peyton Randall. Survivors include:

Solomon Ernest Smith, Jr., 92, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Johns Creek, Georgia. He was born September 27, 1926, in Tampa, Florida, to Sol and Sallie Kate Smith. Later the family moved and he adopted Glennville as his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his wife of 64 years, Maderia S. Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Joan Ansley and son-in- law, Bill; two grandchildren, Trey Ansley and Shayna Bowen, the light of his eyes. He is also survived by four great grandchildren and many cousins.
He retired from the State Highway Department of Transportation after 30 years. He started his career working on bridges and when he retired as assistant district 5 engineer he was in charge of all bridges in district 5. Other highlights of his career was helping to implement what is now I-16, and his major responsibility was overseeing the building of the I-16 -I-95 interchange.
Mr. Smith served in the Pacific Theatre in WWII. He was shipping out when word was received that the atomic bomb had been dropped. Upon discharge from the Army in 1946 he joined the Georgia National Guard and retired after serving 30 years. After retirement, he started a third career as a gentleman farmer. Although he and Maderia moved to Johns Creek, GA, due to failing health, Glennville was still home.

Harold was raised at Bethesda Home for boys in Savannah, where he was taught to have a very strong work ethic and have compassion and respect for others that are less fortunate. He attended Commercial High School where he was a member of the Commercial Cobras football team and was also active in track. He never lost his love of sports and continuously advised the TV what they were doing wrong, even if they scored, he told them how they could’ve done it better. In his middle age he began playing golf again and it soon became his favorite pastime. For many years he was a member of Brazell Creek Golf Club and later served as a volunteer ranger. In 1993 he achieved what all golfers dream of, by making a hole-in-one, and a few years later he made his second. Harold began his career in steel fabrication at Savannah Iron in the late 1950’s. He moved to Glennville in 1972 and while operating several small country stores, continued working in the steel business until his retirement from Boykin Erectors in Jesup, Georgia. Harold is preceded in death by, grandson, Anthony Johnson; granddaughter, Michelle Johnson; brothers James E. and Homer E. Wiggins and a son-in-law, Marcus Johnson.
