Pauline Alice West - January 29, 1947 - March 27, 2024

Departed: 03/27/2024 (Milbridge)
Obituary Preview: Steuben- Pauline West passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 27, 2024.
Pauline was born January 29, 1947 in Ellsworth. She was the youngest daughter of Roger Wight and Christie Uldean Smith of Steuben.
Pauline graduated from Sumner Memorial High, Class of 1965. Just a few days later, June 12, Pauline married the love of her life, Paul West. This June, they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Throughout the years, Pauline has supported Paul as a homemaker and a mother of three children: Vaughn West, Shelby West, and Ava Brown, all of whom reside in Steuben, on land given to them by their grandparents, Roger and Christie Smith. After her kids were grown, Pauline became a pillar of support to the family. Her loving patience and insight allowed her to be a great listener, give wise advice, but she let no bones to be misunderstood. Pauline was quiet, but when she spoke, people listened. As a spiritual woman, Pauline volunteered much of her time teaching members of the community about the Bible’s message, and what it meant for her and them. She was very active in her worship at the Kingdom Hall, along with her many friends, who were very important to her. Pauline could easily make friends wherever she went, even still having friendships she made when she started school in the 1st grade! She loved having a large share in raising her grandchildren, even studying and preparing them for upcoming school years over summer vacation. She did all of this while supporting the establishment of their family business, West Bay Boats. Pauline had hobbies too; she could knit, crochet, hook rugs and make sea-glass jewelry. Being the generous person she was, she often made these for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as friends. Pauline was also known for her amazing biscuits, among other dishes, she would make for the family to enjoy.
The family looks forward to the hope for the future they share with Pauline, found in God’s word, the Bible. As one of Jehovahs Witnesses, Pauline had full faith that God’s promises at Psalm 37:11 and John 5:28, 29 will soon be a reality. She will be resurrected and live peacefully, forever, with her family on a paradise earth under God’s Kingdom. In the meantime, she will surely be missed by all.
Her memory will continue to live on as she is survived by her loving husband, Paul; three Children, Vaughn West and wife Joanne, Shelby West, Ava Brown and husband Jeremy, all of Steuben; grandchildren, Blaine West and wife Keziah, Jordan Jones and husband Ross, Dylan Alley and wife Detrina, Jazmin Merritt and husband Lucas; great-grandchildren, Landon, Brodie, Riley, Trafton, Brynley, and Callum; two sisters, Carolyn West and Jane Shephard and husband (now deceased) John; niece, Judy Pearson and husband Sam, along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her mother and father; brothers-in-law, Robert West and Caroll West; a sister-in-law Lynne West; and a niece Rachel Pearson. “We love you more Grammy!” Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where online condolences may be shared: www.bragdonkelley.com
