Elwood is survived by his siblings, Norma (Pat) Christmas, Elsworth (Nancy) Christmas & Oren Christmas; step-children, Misty (Jeramy) Horrom & Dietra (Rob) Fischer; step-grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Duncan, Shawn Lansdale & Kirstin (Trent) Bowman; nieces & nephews.
Elwood was a life member & on board of Directors at the Museum of Coal Industry. He was a life member, past president, on the board of directors of the Antique Steam & Gas Engine Club Inc and ran the Flea Market. He was in charge of the World Beagle Run at Thresherman’s Park for 23 years. He also was a member of Boonville JayCees.

Barbara Sue Baum, 86, passed away on April 7, 2024, at Woodmont Health Care. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Al & Helen Marie Baum; siblings, Mark Baum & Carolyn Perkins. Barbara graduated from Boonville High School. She attended Indiana University where she was member of the Singing Hoosiers, traveling to Japan, Korea & Germany. Upon returning from her travels, she was a member of the Starlite Musicals in Indianapolis, later she finished her studies and graduated from University of Evansville. She was a life-long member of St. John’s UCC. She was named the first female president of the Church Council and also the Choir Director for many years. She had many careers over the years. She took pride in the years she spent as an educator and the work she did for the elderly. She opened and managed Governor Boone Square. She enjoyed her work as a purchasing agent at Mohler Technology where she made many life-long friends and retired. She was also a member of the Evansville Philharmonic. In 1980 she met the love of her life, Shirley. They spent the next 44 years together loving life. Barbara enjoyed all of God’s blessing including family, nature, animals, music, and a good laugh. She was an avid reader and loved to learn. She was known to say, “A Day without learning is a wasted day”.
Barbara is survived by her wife, Shirley Anne Goodman; step-children, Lorie (Jude) Cecil, Stephen Goodman & Donna (Steve) Bray; step-grandchildren, Jacob (Cara) Cecil, Matthew (Meagan) Cecil, Nathan Cecil, Brittany (Nathan) Bryant, Morgan (Nathan) Garduno, Madison (Christian) Olanowski, Faith (Armani) Mattingly & Max Bray; many step-great-grandchildren; sibling, David (Jody) Baum; nieces & nephews, Alison (Chris) Baum, Carson (Rachel) Baum, Sarah (Jamie) Wood, Carrie Otto (Scott) Louis & Larissa (Scott) Perkins.

Beverly Sue (Heck) Hack, lifelong resident of Boonville, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 82. Beverly is survived by her children, Sherry L. Howard (Mike), and Robert R. Chase; her siblings, Patty Worley, Jim Heck (Carol), Angie Davidson, Greg Heck, Marry Heck, and John Heck (Misty), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Hack, her son, Nicholas Chase, her parents, Jane and Lawrence Heck; siblings, Sue Alice Heck, Buddy Heck, Jr Heck, Dodie Morris, and Carl Heck.
Beverly was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Beverly was an avid reader and active member of Saint Clement Catholic Church. Beverly will be remembered by her infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 422 E. He loved traveling, camping, spending time with family and working on projects of many sorts. Carl proudly served his country with 8 years active duty in the Air Force and 12 years in the Army National Guard.

Sheriff Department for 22 years. Delivered furniture for Town Square Furniture & sold advertising specialties for many years. Jerry would meet someone who looked familiar & say, “I don’t know if I taught you in school, taught you to play golf, delivered furniture to you, arrested you or did all of these, but I know you.” Jerry did many things & knew many people, but most important in his life were Jesus & his family.
He is preceded in death by his son, Reed Oliver Kemp; parents; brothers, David Earl & Scott Douglas Kemp; infant sister, Peggy Ann Kemp.

Sharon L. (Lasher) Staley, 85, of Evansville/Boonville, IN passed away on February 4, 2024, in the comfort of her home at Evansville Protestant Home with family at her side. Sharon was born July 30, 1938, to Clarence and Mildred (Heierman) Lasher. She loved being a part of a large family and enjoyed telling stories of her childhood to old and new friends.
Sharon married the love of her life, Lloyd Staley, on June 3, 1975. When she and Lloyd married, three children were included as part of the package to love as well. She considered herself blessed to have Sheila, Terry, and Greg to add to the family and loved them as her own. Life later blessed her again to add to her family with a special person she loved as her own as well, Kitty Cardwell. Sharon was very active in her church in her younger years. She always loved helping with the Christmas Cookie Walk at St. Clement's Catholic Church and was always eager to jump in and help wherever they may need her. She loved doing crafts and was very active with the area Craft Shows.
Sharon is survived by stepchildren, Sheila Hoehn, of Stewartsville, IN and Terry Staley of Boonville, IN, daughter-in-law, Michelle Staley of Boonville, IN and bonus daughter, Kitty Cardwell (Tim) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Heather Kern (Aaron) of Griffin, IN, Lindsey Hays (Jason) of Evansville, IN, Samantha Hoehn, of Poseyville, IN, Adam Hoehn (Lindsey) of Owensville, IN, Allyson Kratochvil of Evansville, IN, Clint Hoehn of Stewartsville, IN, Brandon Hoehn (Taylor) of Owensville, IN, Zachary Staley of Boonville, IN, Jessica "Jessie" Schmitt (Aaron) of Evansville, IN and Jeremy Staley of Oakland City, IN and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Valada (Richard) Howard of Newburgh, IN; brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She had several God sons and daughters that she loved so much and was so proud of them. Best Friends since high school, Teresa Kiesel and Carolyn Mueller, both of Evansville, IN.
Proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Staley; stepson, Greg Staley; sisters, Dolores Schoenbachler, Johanna Seibert, Evelyn Orth, Anita Lasher, Carolyn Lee, Virginia Seibert, and Janet Morris; and brothers, Anthony (Tony), Raymond, Thomas, and Cecil.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evansville Protestant Home for all the love and care they have given to Sharon. They have become family to her for the last 9 1/2 years. And Heart to Heart Hospice for all of the special attention and care given to Sharon for the last 2 months.

Robert Daniel Hildenbrand, 84, walked through the gates of heaven on his birthday, February 1, 2024, after a gallant fight against Parkison’s. He was born February 1, 1940, in Evansville, IN, son of Herman “Henry” and Elizabeth (Young) Hildenbrand. He graduated from Mater Dei High School with the class of 56-57. He married Nancy Lee Messel on Sept. 5, 1964. They shared 48 years of marriage until her passing in 2013. Robert was a member of the Army National Guard for 7 years. He worked at Amax Wright Mine and as a field engineer for Boonville & Chandler Gas and retired from Operating Engineers. Beginning as a young man, he was a giving man or always offering a helping hand. A friend once said that he could look at a person and know that they were in need and also what they needed, and he would do it. Robert was very active in 4-H, going beyond what was needed to help children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and always eager to join them in all their projects. The most recent task was designing the cemetery for the Jr. Civitan Zombie Farm. His most loved project was creating a special needs fishing tournament. Any special needs person could come to this tournament and have a special day of enjoyment. Farming was a passion of his with his first farm being in Yankeetown, IN and his second farm Known as “Hard Times Farm” in Boonville, IN, raising up to 500 herd of cows. St. Rupert Church was his home Church. He spent many hours there. Making repairs, helping to build buildings, making other improvements. Robert’s family includes his wife, Diana; son, Robert Douglas; grandson, Blaze Daniel; 3 stepdaughters, 1 stepson, 19 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces & nephews. He also had his special companion Jennee, his dog who spent many hours on his lap. Robert is also survived by his brother, George Hildenbrand; sisters, Martha VerWayne, Marilyn Weigand, and Sarah Hildenbrand & sister-in-law, Diane Hildenbrand. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy; parents, brothers, John & Hermann; sister, Phyllis Nussmeyer.

She was born July 18, 1954, in Evansville, IN to the late Altice Nicholson and Betty (Minor) Nicholson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Rebecca Sue Nicholson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her son, Nicholas (Beth) Wagner of South Elgin, IL; grandchildren, Emmett and Duncan Wagner; cousins; and a multitude of close friends.
After years of service to the state of Indiana, she transitioned into elderly care, a field she was very passionate about until her retirement in 2014.

Michael was a lifelong member of St. Clement Catholic Parish. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard, retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations after 38 years of service, was past member of Boonville City Parks Board, ran for Boonville City Mayor and was a present member of Boon Township Advisory Board until his death. Michael owned a photography business and loved playing music. He was a previous commissioner and coach of the Boonville Jr. League Football, coached Jr. League Baseball and was a previous member of the Boonville High School Booster Club.
He loved watching his children & grandchildren play sports, loved fishing and just spending time with his family. He always brought us all close together.
Michael is survived by his wife of 53 plus years, Beverley (Christmas) Greer; sons, Michael II (Heather), Paul, and Mark (Jamie) Greer; 4 grandchildren, Austin, Camden, Mackenzie and Caleb; brothers, Greg (Bev), John (Jan), Jake (Teresa), George, Charlie (Tonja), sisters, Mary (Paul) Thomas, Elizabeth (David) Anderson & Martha (Marc) Reynolds; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Russell Benke, 67, a life-long resident of Boonville, died suddenly, November 17th, 2023 at his home.
A 1977 graduate of Boonville High School. A long-time member of Freemasons brotherhood (Lodge 240). A softhearted man, Russell was always trying to make a sweet child smile; Russell “Sparkles” volunteered his time and talents clowning with the Hadi Shrine Funsters, of Evansville. At Christmastime he entertained as a professional Santa Claus, one of the highlights of his life.
A hard worker, Russell worked at Essex/Ohio Valley Aluminum for 35 years, and later Diversity Vuteq running circles around men half his age. When he wasn’t working overtime, flirting with pretty girls, or helping out a friend in need, you’d find him on his tractor mowing.
Russell leaves behind a daughter, Becky Sammauro, whom he loved with vigor; twin grandsons, Blake and Mason Sammauro, for whom he had such profound pride; a fiercely loyal brother, Gilbert “Rick” Benke (Peggie); loving sisters, Betty Jo and Cherl; and their brother, Junior. Proceeded in death by a sister, Margaret. The proud son of Roy and Thelma Benke, with whom he will be reunited and laid to rest at their final resting place following services.
