She is survived by sisters, Connie DeCicco and Joann Sauchelli; daughter, Debra Garner and her husband Jay; son Michael Catalina and his wife Tara; son, Albert Catalina and his wife Donna; along with her 6 grandchildren, Sara, Jessica, Andrew, Alex, Mark and Matthew .

Obituary Preview: Thomas J Pizzaia of Edison, NJ passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born October 5, 1958 to Virginia and Tullio Pizzaia, all proud members of The Church of Jesus Christ.
In his younger years he enjoyed going on fishing trips with his friends on their boat ‘Bad Habit’. He rode motorcycles and often went on bike runs and camping trips.
He worked, and retired, as a union laborer for Local 156 with his Uncle Norman Mantz who was the Labor Forman. After retirement he worked for Rutgers University as a machine operator.
Tommy is predeceased by his parents, Virginia and Tullio Pizzaia. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; and their two children, daughter Rebecca and her husband Thomas Petrillo, and son Thomas Pizzaia Jr.; sister, Jeanne and her husband Steven Yahr; brother, Robert and his wife Linda Pizzaia. He was a Pop Pop to his grandchildren, Sadie Rose and Mia Grace Petrillo; and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Tank who he rescued from the Edison Animal shelter.

Bill was born in Elizabeth, raised in Roselle and lived in Edison for the past forty years. He served in the National Guard of New Jersey and was a graduate of Rutgers University. He spent his career in financial services working at Midlantic Bank and City National Bank. Most recently, he enjoyed retirement spending time with his family.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Auer; as well as his sister, Sue-Ann Shields. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Cestaro and her husband Chris; along with his two grandsons, Zachary and Reid.

Obituary Preview: Robert B. “Bob” Bauer, 87, of Edison, passed away on Sunday March 24, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Bob was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He served with the 82nd Airborne, and was a New York Steamfitter Local #638. He was also a private pilot with his own plane. Bob married Helen Straub in 1954. They had a daughter, Sandra in 1964 and moved to Edison in 1965. Their son, Bob “Howie” was born in 1966.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Helen; and his daughter, Sandra. He is survived by his son, Robert “Howie” Bauer; along with his grandchildren, Nicholas and Amanda Cirelli, all of whom he loved very much.

Joseph was born in New Brunswick to the late Joseph Sr. and Clara Pinter and raised in Edison. He worked for the Edison Water Department for thirty-five years. Joe was a lifelong member of the Edison Moose Lodge, loved playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing and crabbing.
Joseph was predeceased by his daughters, Joann Moran and Debrah Pinter: brother, Roger Pinter; and sisters, Joanne Taranovich and Rose Perla. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Johnson of North Carolina; brother, Richard Taranovich; granddaughter, Erica Moran; grandsons, Matthew Moran, Andrew Sterner and Adam Sterner; great-granddaughter, Charlotte; and great grandson, Anthony.

Edith Mary Shneer - July 29, 1942 - March 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: Edith (Edie) Mary Shneer passed peacefully on March 20, 2024. Edith was born on July 29, 1942 to Edith Marie (Huntley) and Vincent Frank Biro in New Brunswick and raised her entire life in Edison. To all who knew and loved her, she went by Edie. More than a year later, the family was complete when her sister and best friend Florence (Floey) was born. To say the family was closely knit would be an understatement!
After graduation, Edie got a job with the Edison Board of Education and started working as a secretary at Edison High School, and later at Washington Elementary School. Thomas Jefferson Middle School was her longest assignment as head secretary. She “…was always recognized by the district and the principals with whom she worked as a dedicated, talented, and loyal employee and a woman of great character.” Edie retired in 2004 and was honored by the entire staff and recognized for her many contributions to the field of education.
Edie was a loving and devoted wife to Walter Shneer since July 1977 in which she gained three stepdaughters, Midge Hoffman (Rod Bolman), Wanda (deceased June 2023) and Stacey Kelsall (Kevin). Edie was also doting and devoted Godmother to twins, Kristin Murphy and Kimberly Iseman since 1981. Edie has four grandchildren, Kyle (Deborah) and Benjamin Hoffman, and Anastasia and Walter Kelsall; and two great grandchildren, Evelyn and Adelyn Hoffman.
In her spare time, Edie loved spending time doing her needlepoint and sewing, shopping with Floey, coffee with Michaela and her monthly Lunch Bunch Meeting with the girls from TJ! Edie had a warm heart and loved to laugh.
Edie was predeceased by stepdaughter Wanda (2023); her sister, Florence Schofield (2022); brother-in-law, John (Jack) L. Schofield, jr. (2010); mother Edith (2007) and father Vincent (1998); and dear Cocker Spaniel companion, Rusty.

In her free time, Barbara enjoyed playing cards, board games with friends & family, boat rides, functions at the Raritan River Boat Club, being an Edison Elks Club member, TV, tricky trays/bingo’s, craft shows, live music, country music, attending plays & musicals, spending time with her grandchildren and going out to dinner & various local diners.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Glenn Clark in 2021 and her parents, Arthur & Marie Lauri. She is survived by her children, Lauri Condron & her husband Jeff, Lisa Jorgensen, Jake Clark & his wife Jennifer; along with her beloved grandchildren, Sonny, Ernie & Jemma.
Barbara possessed a generous heart, kind smile & fun nature, which she shared with all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be greatly missed by many.
At Barbara’s request there will be no services held. Her final resting place will be with her husband, Glenn.

Obituary Preview: Don A. Sommer Sr., 83, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Embassy Manor Nursing Home in Edison, New Jersey.
Don was born in Newark, New Jersey and spent his childhood years in Union, New Jersey. He has lived in Edison for the last sixty-five years.
Don proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1966. Semper Fi! He was employed by Engelhard-BASF for over forty years.
Don’s greatest passion was helping others. He joined the Edison First Aid Squad #1 in the 1980’s and proudly answered calls for over twenty-five years. He became Captain of the squad, serving alongside the most dedicated volunteers in New Jersey.
Don was a fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He was an avid reader of World War II history. He also loved watching movies while sitting on his favorite chair at home. Don was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Thelma; his wife, Patricia; his son, Don Sommer Jr; and his daughter-in-law, Kelly Sommer.
Don is survived by his son, Duane Sommer; grandsons, Alex and Chris; his sister, Bonnie and her husband Gary of Florida.

Frank was a long-time member of the Edison Elks. He worked as an insurance adjuster for CNA Insurance in Piscataway. When he was younger, Frank was a paper boy for the Home News Tribune and he also worked as a bus driver. He always brought a smile to everyone he met. Frank was a loving son, father, brother, and friend. He will be remembered as the “Candy Man” by his nieces.
Frank was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Gorbe; his son, Donald B. Gorbe; father, Frank B. Gorbe; and brother, Donald B. Gorbe. He is survived by his son, Frank W. Gorbe; mother, Grace Gorbe; sister, Diane Le Clair and her husband Ronald; along with his nieces, Michelle and Nicole.

G. Robert Campbell - April 14, 1948 - February 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: G. Robert Campbell, Chief Ret., 75, of Roanoke, VA, and formerly of Edison, NJ, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. He was born on April 14, 1948, in Newark, NJ, the son of George Abraham Campbell and Kathleen Coogan Campbell.
Chief Campbell was appointed to the Edison (New Jersey) Division of Fire as a Firefighter in 1971. He rose through the ranks and was appointed Chief of the Department in January of 1999. He retired in 2006, and then served as an Instructor at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville, NJ (2006 – 2007).
Chief Campbell was a member of the first graduating class of Edison’s J.P. Stevens High School in 1965. He attended Union Junior College before completing his B.A. in Political Science at Clemson University in 1970. In 1979 he completed the semester-long Harvard Trade Union Program at the Harvard School of Business, representing the IAFF. He earned his M.A. in Labor Studies from Rutgers University in 1983.
He was active in the Oconee County (SC) chapter of Habitat for Humanity, serving on the Family Selection Committee and volunteering in the resale store. He was a liaison for the chief of the Clemson University Fire Department. He took up blacksmithing as a hobby, and served as a volunteer blacksmith at the Hagood Village Historic Village in Pickens County, SC.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Donna Jean Campbell; daughter, Erin Virginia Leftwich (Wayne); granddaughters, Alice Leftwich and Clara Leftwich, of Roanoke, VA; sister, Patricia Campbell McAvoy; nephews, Jonathan McAvoy and Brendan McAvoy, of Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ; sister-in-law, Claudia Beaty (David); nephew, Kevin (Casey) Beaty; and niece, Sally Beaty Wallace, of Douglasville, GA.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. The Graveside Service with Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth. The family will be at The Raritan River Boat Club, Player Avenue, Edison after the service. All are invited to join the family there for a celebration of Robert’s life.

Obituary Preview: Nora May Van Bree, age 85 of Edison passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at home with her family by her side.
Nora was born and raised in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. She relocated to New Jersey in 1963, settling in Edison in 1965 where she has been a lifelong resident.
Nora graduated from Teachers College, London, Ontario, Canada. After graduation she was an elementary school teacher.
After relocating to New Jersey, Nora was employed as a substitute teacher. She later worked for the Internal Revenue Service where she held a variety of positions during her tenure. Nora’s favorite “employment” was the years she enjoyed raising her family as the world’s greatest stay at home mom.
Nora was a life member and past President of the Edison American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Father and Son Post 435. She was a member of the Edison Italian-American Club, the Edison Senior Lindenau Social Group, and the Seniors Social Group at Guardian Angels Church, Edison. Nora was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fords.
One of Nora’s proudest moments was in 1986 when she became an official United States Citizen. She was honored to be a citizen of this great nation.
Above all, Nora was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Daughter of the late Avvil E. Smith, Florence Mabel Smith-Putt and beloved stepdaughter of the late Frederick Putt, Nora is also predeceased by her brother, William Smith; husband, Daniel Van Bree; and her grandson, Joseph Tomaszewski.
Surviving are Nora’s five children, Wanda Shirley of East Brunswick, Daniel Van Bree of Edison, Kenneth Van Bree of Toms River, Karl Van Bree of Edison, and Kathleen Morrello of Colonia; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. A Service will be held during the Visitation beginning at 3:15 p.m., with The Reverand Christopher Sadlo, Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fords. In keeping with Nora’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.

Mary Jane Pfeiffer - April 25, 1945 - January 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: Mary Jane Pfeiffer 78, of Edison, New Jersey passed away Monday January 29, 2024 in her home after a brief illness.
Mary Jane, or MJ as she liked to be called, was born April 25, 1945 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Elizabeth and John Nemeth. Growing up MJ was a majorette at Edison High School, graduating in 1963 and went on to have a successful career as a beautician. On April 24, 1965 she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Pfeiffer and together they raised their two daughters Christine Pfeiffer Stocke and Mary Jane (Jamie) Enoch.
MJ was a devoted mother, serving as secretary of St Paul’s PTA where her girls attended grammar school just as their dad did. She was also a member of the St Paul’s bowling team and served as coach of their cheerleading squad where she revolutionized the program.
She and Bill opened the Green Derby Tavern in 1981. Together they created a space where people came together in good times and bad and through their kindness changed many a life. After Bill’s passing in 2006, MJ went on to run the Green Derby until she retired in 2014.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, beloved husband and sister, Dorothy (Nemeth) Rybiski.
MJ was a proud Jersey girl and will be missed by her surviving family; daughter, Christine Pfeiffer Stocke and her husband Dan Stocke; daughter, Jamie Enoch and her husband Wayne Enoch; and the two grandchildren that brightened each and every one of her days, Wayne K Enoch and Alaina Enoch.

Joseph Vincent Luistro - July 17, 1968 - January 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: Joseph Vincent Luistro, 55, from Edison passed away on January 18, 2024, at home with his loving family by his side following a valiant battle with ALS.
Joe was born in Toronto, Canada. He was raised in Jersey City. Joe graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School and Hudson Catholic High School; He was a 1991 graduate of Rutgers University, completing a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice and a Certificate in Criminology.
In 1993, Joe was hired by the Rutgers University Police Department - New Brunswick Campus and served in the Patrol Division where He was a Field Training Officer. In 1999, Joe joined the rank and file of the Edison Police Department, where he served in Patrol, Traffic Safety and Recruitment and was assigned to the local DEA Task Force. As a Field Training Officer, Joe he mentored and guided rookie officers. In 2016, Joe was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as Supervisor in the Patrol Division.
Joe was a member of PBA Local 75 and was the recipient of both the Silver Life and Gold Life Medals of Honor. Joe was the first Asian American police officer and police supervisor in the history of the Edison Police Department. He was also a long-time member of the New Jersey Asian American Law Enforcement Officers Association where he served as an Executive Board member for many years, as well as President from 2008 until his retirement in 2020. Joe was instrumental in diversifying police departments throughout the State of New Jersey. Joe was also a member of The National Asian Peace Officers Association where he served as Vice President from 2005 through 2009.
Upon his retirement, Joe felt the desire to serve the community on a broader scale and decided to run as an Edison Council Candidate in 2021.
Joe was a familiar face along with his daughters at the Yvonne's School of Dance in Edison. He was a true "Dance Dad" where he participated in Daddy-Daughter dances, even performing on his battery powered scooter, and was awarded by the studio as an "Honorary Dance Dad".
Joe also had a 34-year career as a real estate salesperson. In 1990 he began his career at Williamson Realty in Piscataway, NJ and moved on to Coldwell Banker in Metuchen, NJ. He helped countless families achieve the American dream of home ownership.
Joe was a long-time parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of the St. Matthew Philippine American Association. Joe served as an Executive Board Member of the Association from 2010 until the time of his passing.
Joe was an exemplary role model. He was a member of many civic and fraternal organizations including: Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Inc.; Knights of Columbus (St. Matthews Council); Board of Director-St. Matthew Philippine American Association; Coordinator of the St. Matthew Basketball fundraiser Guns n Hoses - Edison Police Department versus Edison Fire Department; National Asian Peace Officers Association; New Jersey Asian American Law Enforcement Officers Association and Free and Accepted Masons Jerusalem Lodge #26.
Above all, Joe was a loving husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend to many who will be missed by all who knew and loved Him.
Predeceased by his father, Dante V. Luistro, Joe is survived by his loving wife, Maria Mildred Luistro, RN; his mother Julieta O. Luistro, RN; daughters, Hannah and Jessica; sister Jennifer Luistro Pring; brother, Jaydee Luistro and his wife, Melona, and his niece, Mikayla Pring.
Visitation will be Monday, January 22, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 23, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Boylan Funeral Home, 10 Wooding Avenue, Edison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 81 Seymour Avenue, Edison at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, January 24. Belinda Jane Rocke - March 15, 1971 - January 12, 2024

Obituary Preview: Belinda Jane Rocke - a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend - has passed away at the age of 52 on Friday, January 12, 2024. It was only after a long and hard fight with breast cancer that Belinda took her last breath surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Belinda was born in Denver, Colorado and adopted together with her sisters Michelle and Laura by her parents Louise and Harrison McDonald. She was raised in Bloomfield, NJ by her adoptive parents. She has two brothers - Joe and Peter McDonald - and four sisters - Cindi Angel, Angela Yoshida, Michelle McDonald, and Laura Poole.
Belinda met John Rocke in June of 1993 and fell in love. Belinda and John moved to Highland Park, NJ to raise her three children - Vincent, Justin, and Amber Caputo. They were married in Las Vegas on August 20, 2005 with her sister Michelle by her side. She worked for the Highland Park High School as a paraprofessional, with children who loved her and remember her to this day. She retired in 2008 and was home to create many wonderful memories with her husband, children, and eventually her grandchildren whom she cherished with all her heart. Belinda and John loved spending time together. They would travel together to Atlantic City for weekend getaways, loved traveling to art and craft fairs, and going to concerts together. If you had the pleasure of knowing Belinda, you knew that this 80’s girl loved Phil Collins and Bryan Adams!
Belinda’s eldest son Vincent made her a grandmother in 2017. He gave her three grandchildren - Giovanna, Vinnie, and Aletheia Caputo - who she and John both adored and enjoyed visiting in Atlantic City.
Belinda’s mother Louise passed away from cancer in 2018. Belinda is survived by her father, siblings, husband, children, and grandchildren. Not long after watching her mother battle cancer, she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer in 2021. She fought a good fight and would always say she wasn’t just fighting for her own life, but for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family was her everything and she would give anything to ensure their happiness. Unfortunately, once the cancer metastasized, her health declined rapidly. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick that Friday evening.
