Obituary Preview: Mr. Glenn Allen “Rusty” Smith, was born January 23, 1937 in Tiline to Gobel and Gertrude Smith. The 1937 flood was at its highest. The Smith’s lived in a two room house. Friends and family members left their homes around Tiline and stayed with the Smith’s until they could return home.
Glenn Allen was a farmer, he also worked at Air Products in Calvert City for twenty years. He was a member of Tiline Missionary Baptist Church.
Glenn Allen was an outdoorsman, loved the rivers, mountains, all animals, nature and the countryside. He had been a hunter, but after years he became a protector of the animals.
Daily, he wanted to go riding in the county countryside and enjoy the scenery and talk about his friends and the days of going to Oak Ridge School near Tiline. He was ready to point out a certain place and what happened there. One of the things he liked was remembering the fox hunters around Tiline.
Surviving is his wife, of 65 years, Mary Lou Lytton Smith; Daughter, Darlene (Ree) O’Nan; granddaughters Elizabeth Harrington and Samantha (Mark) Rupcke; grandson Dustin Thomason and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeffrey Smith.
Funeral Services with be Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services. Burial will be at Dyer Hill Cemetery.

Rhonda loved life, her family, her friends, and never met a stranger. She enjoyed dancing, taking photographs, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Mrs. Croft is survived by three daughters, Linda Croft Hudson, Brenda McKinney, and Beverly Croft Sherrell (Tim), all of Marion, KY; two sons, Gary Allen Croft (Vickie) of Clermont, FL and Jerry N. Croft (Raye) of Marion, KY; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Croft; sister, Lucille; brother, Benny; grandchild, James Allen Croft; and her parents.

Tammy was a member of Emmus Baptist Church.  She was a woman of strong faith and loved her God fiercely.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafting.  She was a healthcare worker.  Tammy never met a stranger and everyone loved her.  Most of all Tammy loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 32 years, Dave Morris; parents Dwight and Ina Williams, and stepfather Ricky Turner; two sisters, Debbie (Junior) Duncan and Deana (Jason) Jones; one brother Darren Turner; her children Tabi (Jason) Shelton, Evan Morris, Marsha Morris, and Brandy (Josh) Young; grandchildren Kendra, David, Jaysa, Kyle, Brantley, Dalis, Zoey, Aria, Kali, Adrian, Dylan, Jacob, Kason, Logan, T.J., Camy, Kiki and Jaden; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and one great niece; lifelong friends; and several unofficial children.
She is preceded in death by grandparents: Ralph and Edna Williams, Dewey and Edith Binkley; and one brother Clifford Williams.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to the exceptional staff at Mercy Health Hospice Care Center for everything in Tammy’s last days and moments.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marletta Evans of Smithland, KY; three sons, Evan Evans, Cobie Evans of Smithland, Sonny Evans (Tessa) of Smithland; two sisters, Merylene Evans of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Pat Starnes of Ledbetter; and three step-grandchildren Darrien, Dommnic and Dallton.
He was preceeded in death by a sister Sondra Schlattmann; brother David Mac Evans; and his parents.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, March, 10, 2022, at Smithland Cemetery with Military Honors. Officiating will be Rev. Joel Jackson.

Obituary Preview: Vernon Franklin Stalion, age 96, of Salem passed away peacefully at home February 27, 2022.  He was born July 9, 1925 to Vernon Cruce and Ada Ellen Ramage Stalion.
He married Dorothy Helen Cooper April 14, 1950 and they had five daughters.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, and brothers - Maurice Vincent and Ralph, sister Helen Carpenter, and great-grandson Jonas Roman Keller.
He is survived by his daughters Mary Helen (Reg) Hodges of Port Orange, FL; Carolyn (Richard) Grainger and Martha Stalion of Salem; Susan Stalion and Nancy (Guy) Hall of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren Lee Ann (Mike) Keller, Ben Grainger, Daniel Franklin (Sara) Hall and Emily Hall (Jeremy Kemper); great grandchildren  Deborah, Katharine, Gabriel, Sydney, Melina and Cynthia Keller, Clara and Cooper Stalion Hall; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stalion grew up in the Pleasant Grove community.  He fondly remembered his childhood, which included hunting, fishing, working on the family farm and walking 6 miles to school.  He went early to school to make the fire so the school room would be warm when the teacher and students arrived.  He was paid one penny a day. He was Valedictorian and class president of his 1943 Senior Class of Salem High School.
Mr. Stalion served in the US Army.  He received basic training at Camp Barkeley in Abilene, Texas.  He was trained as a medic at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.  He then traveled across the Atlantic on the Queen Elizabeth with about 5,500 additional soldiers and nurses.  He arrived in England and was assigned to the 162nd Surgical Army Hospital in Lincolnshire through the end of the war. He received the following decorations and citations: EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal World War II.  After the war, he served in France at the 155th General Hospital.  Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he returned to work on the family farm.
Mr. Stalion was a member of Salem Baptist Church and previously Union Baptist Church.
He was a farmer, pipefitter at BF Goodrich, security guard at Cero Mines, worked at the Crittenden County School System Maintenance Department, the Kentucky State Highway Department, and Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation.
Mr. Stalion set a good example for having a strong work ethic.  He was passionate about gardening and continued to raise a large vegetable garden until the age of 91 when his wife passed away. He enjoyed gathering the vegetables to share with friends and neighbors.
Mr. Stalion is remembered as a good Christian man who believed in the importance of tithing and helping others. He and Dorothy raised their girls in a loving Christian home.  They taught them about the love of Jesus and the importance of knowing Jesus as their personal Savior.   Franklin and Dorothy were very proud of their girls who all graduated from college, their grands and great-grands.  He lovingly referred to them as his “sugarwads”.
The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice, Deanie Tabor, Donniece Taylor, and Whitney Kinnis, who lovingly cared for him and his family in his final days.
