Kipp on May 7th, 1957.  Together they raised five wonderful children.  Charlie and Roxie raised their children to have a strong, honest work ethic.  He was Methodist by faith.  He was an avid wood worker and in the summer months you could see Charlie mowing grass just about anywhere especially the Saybrook area.

His granddaughter shared the following:  In this life, this man created a legacy with the woman he loved and today they were reunited.  With heavy hearts we will mourn the loss of a man who had many roles…Husband, Dad, Pap to two generations, Chuck, Charlie, Herm….In his absence we will continue to share what he imprinted upon us – honor, integrity, loyalty, a sense of humor and above all else…love.  It will take many of us to step up and fill the shoes he has left behind…just as we did with Gram.  But I am thankful we were so well raised up to be prepared.  I will never forget the story from three years ago when he came home from the hospital, against all odds.  He walked through the door and hollered “Woman! I’m home!”  And Gram came to meet him with a big kiss:  Through the tears I smile because that’s how I would like to think he went home to Heaven.  Swinging the door open and announcing to Grammie he was home with her now for eternity.
