She passed away peacefully from this life on April 22, 2024, in Keizer, Oregon; living much of her life in Dayton, Ohio and Dallas, Oregon. Carol was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, bonus mom, and friend who will be deeply missed by many who knew her. Her devoted love of our Lord, helps us to know she is home with Jesus and her family. She joins her previously deceased father Gene Daulton Yancey and mother Lorene (Lawson) Yancey.
Carolyn was the oldest of her mischievous brothers beginning with Charles Yancey (Jackie), Ronnie Yancey, and Danny Yancey; who all kept her busy as the big sister.

Carolyn ultimately met the love of her life, marrying Wendell D. Sellers on January 7, 2006 in Union, Ohio. She then gained two bonus daughters, Amber (Scott Ledbetter) and Courtney Naraev. Wendell and Carol recently celebrated 19 delightful years together going on many adventures together, watching movies or Date Line, celebrating fellowship and music, playing a friendly game of dice, and just celebrating family.
Her numerous endeavors in life included many pursuits including (but not limited to) graduating from beauty school, working in every aspect of restaurant operations, deeply caring for many elders with her CNA, successfully operating forklifts through many a warehouse, holding her own by working along-side the lineman in cable TV. Carolyn was very musically talented, being self-taught in gospel piano, playing the guitar, and joyous spontaneous family sing-along-gatherings (one of her favorites was Purple Robe).
Before her illness limited outings, she was always up for any shopping trip or thrift/garage sale hunt, thrilling in a good deal or find. Dancing was a big love of hers, often the first on the dance floor and sometimes the last off. She was known for her big heart; she would go broke for anyone in need, especially friends and family.

Donald Dean Stewart - March 31, 1929 - April 19, 2024

Departed: 04/19/2024 (Dallas)
Obituary Preview: Donald Dean Stewart was born on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929, the year of the stock market crash. The last birthday he celebrated was in 2024, also on Easter and he was 95 years old. Don grew up on route 66 in Oklahoma and attended a small, two-room schoolhouse. When he was 15 years old his family moved to Burbank, CA and he finished his high school days at Burbank High. Don was drafted into the Army during the Korean conflict and served as a military policeman in Kobe and Osaka, Japan.
At about age 12, Don had asked Christ to be his savior and make him fit for heaven, but it wasn’t until returning from military service that he became serious about living for God. At that time, he enrolled at BIOLA College and married the love of his life, Marjorie Jean Buhler, on July 23, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary together this year.
Don finished his degree in agriculture from Fresno State University; and Don and Margie were blessed with a daughter and a son. Don worked for the city of Los Angeles in various capacities, from gardener to park ranger, and finally was a senior park supervisor at the city zoo until his retirement.
Don and Margie lived in California until 2017 when they moved to Dallas Retirement Village with their son David Stewart to live closer to family – daughter Rebecca and Dewey Bertolini, grandson David and Amy Bertolini, with great-granddaughters Callie and Maggie, and granddaughter Ashley Bertolini with great-granddaughters Nora and Lucy. Donald affirmed that any troubles he had in his life were used by the Lord to make him more dependent on God’s sufficiency. In spite of the fact that he struggled with Alzheimer’s for many of his declining years, a favorite verse from the Bible remained with him until he went to be with his Lord – Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering, for He is faithful that promised.”

Laura Lee Gleason - July 09, 1950 - April 02, 2024

Departed: 04/02/2024 (Dallas)
Obituary Preview: Tribal Elder Laura Lee Gleason began her eternal life in heaven on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at her home in Grand Ronde.
She was Kalapuya and a Grand Ronde Tribal Elder from the Haller-Menard family, descended from Chief Joseph Sangretta.
Laura was born July 9th, 1950 in Salem Oregon. She is now reunited with her parents Clermon Cureton and Phyllis Haller along with many family members who were there to welcome her.
She is survived by her children, Tonya and Michael Shepek, Tisha and Earl Pellett, and Elsie Gleason; grandchildren, Kryshanne and Dennis Searls, Braxton Tucker and Laycie Pellett; her great-grandchildren, Reece Romans and Adeline Searls.
She lived a life of resiliency and faith with an abundance of generous love. That love touched so many people during her 73 years here on earth with us. We will miss our Mom, Grandma, Nana, Sister, Cousin, Auntie and Friend every day until it is our time to join her. Many times she said “When I die, it’s ok to be sad for a little bit. But don’t stay sad.” Then she would get a big smile and start clapping when she thought about heaven and she would say “Can you imagine?”
The most important thing in her life was family; her Christian family, Birth family, Tribal family, NA family, Canoe family and Community family. All of you gave her so much joy and purpose. Let us honor her gift of connecting to people, understanding people and her ability to reflect back to them how special they are by going forward and blessing others. She will continue to be that person in spirit through the end of our lives and the lives that we touch. In her words “Sounds like a plan. I love you. But, God loves you more”.
We pray that you may find comfort in her favorite Bible Verse; Psalm 91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.(2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal gymnasium. Her graveside service will immediately follow at the Tribal Cemetery. Please join family at the Tribal Community Center for a meal and celebration of Laura’s life. Obituary Preview: Jazmine Lelani Marie Lawson (Jaz or Jazzy) was born Aug 13, 1999.
She was a strong Leo, she was a very outgoing little girl and she always wanted to make friends. In her teens she wanted to be a fashion designer. I told her to design something, and I would help her put it together. She took a pair of blue pants and a pair of purple pants and cut them down the middle and made a new pair! She was afraid to wear them but when she did, people were wanting to know where she bought them.
As an adult, she struggled with many things from day to day. But along the way she made many friends. Everyone loved how bubbly she was. When I saw her, she seemed happy and adjusting to her new journey.
On March 29, 2024 we found out that she passed in her sleep. She was so young and had her whole life ahead of her. She departed too early and left behind her beloved siblings Kaylub 28, Tristan 20, Ronnie 17 and Kadin 16 and her Mother Jayme 45.
Celebration of life will held at Dallas City Park on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 12-5 pm. Signs will be up to direct you to the event.
