Betty Jean Thigpen Timmerman - October 10, 1936 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Greenwood)
Obituary Preview: Betty Jean Thigpen Timmerman, 87, resident of Lakeshore Drive, wife of Ellis Frank Timmerman, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at her home.
Born October 10, 1936, in Stapleton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Fred Lamar and Lillian Landrum Thigpen. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was employed with Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant. Betty Jean “Nannie” Timmerman, a faithful wife, loving mother, and spoiling grandmother to more than just her own grandchildren, described in one word as “Virtuous”. Three times God mentions the description of a virtuous woman in his word and for some reason saw it fit to give our family a living example.
As a mother of four, grandmother of five, great-grandmother of eleven, and great-great Grandmother of one, she was able to exercise her God given abilities through taking care of her family. Nobody did without and nobody was the favorite. She made sure we all were loved the same, unconditionally. Kim, her youngest daughter and handicapped at birth, was no stranger to the love and compassion we all knew so well. Nannie would spend the rest of her life taking care of what would become one of the biggest blessings our family has known. Though her hours were endless, and her payment was eternal, she was diligent in making sure the best care was given no matter what the cost. Pen and paper will never do justice in describing what a cornerstone she was to our family. I guess that’s why God described such a woman as priceless. Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. As for now all we can say is thank you. Thank you for always having ice cream in the fridge, for keeping the candy jar full, and for always being an example we could look up to. The love you showed through taking care of Kim, and the million “I love YOU mores” will forever be a testimony that we will never forget. It is an honor to call you Nannie and we can’t wait to see you again on that happy golden shore!
She attended Rice Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 67 years are four children, Frankie Lynn Martin, Karen T. Jordan (John), Kim Marie Timmerman (Billy), and Ellis Frank Timmerman, Jr. (Maria); five grandchildren, Christy Jordan-Williams (Shawn), Jennifer Martin, Sammy Brooks, Jay Jordan (Anna Grace), and Gage Timmerman (Abby); eleven great-grandchildren, Savannah Brooks (Zach), Chassity Brooks (Victor), Sethe Williams (Jaden), Joshua Brooks, Isabella Williams, Ada Grace Williams, John Ellison Williams, Jack Jordan, Carlisle Jordan, Eliza Timmerman, and Ellis Timmerman; and a great-great-grandchild, Evelyn Ornelas.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Lamar Thigpen; three sisters, Earlene Godown, Mary Pileggi, and Ann Burrum; and a granddaughter, Carrie Jean Brooks.
