Obituary Preview: Rosalind “Rusty” D. (West) Olivero, 67 of Elliott, IL., passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana, IL., surrounded by her loving family.
Rusty was born in Lafayette, IN, on September 29, 1954. She was the daughter of William and Mildred West. She married Michael Olivero on November 16, 1989, in Beardstown, IL.; he survives.
Rusty enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and pets. She ran and managed her own café in Elliott for 8 years.
Rusty was organ recipient of 18 ½ years.
She is survived by her husband Michael Olivero, two sisters, Kay Ellis-Mockbee (Danville, IL), and Joy Reid (Iowa). She is also survived by her four daughters: Jamie (Denver) Piatt (Paxton, IL), Brenda Olivero (Champaign, IL), Helena (James) Longfellow (Paxton, IL), and Roxanne (Quan) Winfield (Champaign, IL); and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mildred West, brothers Virgil Hicks and Billy-Earl Hicks, and sister Betty Hicks.

Michael was born on November 18, 1977, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Gary and Nancy (Hickman) Gosser Sr.  He is survived by his mother; daughter- Ariel Nicole Gosser of Danville; brother- Gary “Bud” Gosser Jr. of Hoopeston; three sisters- Peggy Gosser of Perrysville, Indiana, Debbie (Jr.) Davis of Danville and Becky (Randy) Tomblin of Hoopeston; significant other- Sheila Rodriguez; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Michael enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and he loved animals.  He was a very laid-back person and enjoyed the simple life and spending time with his family.

Jane worked as a home health care aid and enjoyed watching TV.

Nancy was born on January 21, 1951, in Harvey, Illinois, the daughter of Bill and Marie (Rochkowsky) Stahr.   She was married to Edmond Barnard.  He survives.
She is also survived by one step-brother and three step-sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy worked as a substitute schoolteacher for several area schools, for many years.  She enjoyed reading and watching adventure shows.

Jimmy was born on February 16, 1953, in Danville, Illinois, the son of James and Georgia Jean (Slaven) Staton Sr, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sisters- Virginia (Raymond) Winters of Danville, Illinois, Patty (Greg) Youmans of Montrose, Minnesota and Mary Lytle of Montrose, Minnesota; one niece and five nephews.
Jimmy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, in New Castle, Indiana.  He enjoyed riding his moped, playing with his dog and going to the grocery store to visit with his friends.
The family would like to thank everyone in Hoopeston and Indiana, who was there for Jimmy and helped him out.

Dorothy "Dot" Lorene Bray - August 27, 1936 - February 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dorothy “Dot” Lorene (Kammin) Bray peacefully left this world to be with the Lord and her beloved son, Timmy on February 14, 2022, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.
Dot was born in Crawfordsville, IN on August 27, 1936, to the late Raymond Kammin and Lorene Hankins Weller.  She grew up in Alvin, Illinois attending the Rossville High School.
Dorothy married John on September 18, 1954, in Rossville, Illinois. He survives.  Dorothy spent the majority of her life as a farm wife on the farm outside Pence, IN until she and her husband later moved a country block away to where she was currently residing in rural Rossville, Illinois.  She was a member of the Warren County Home Ec Club, 4-H leader, Room Mom for her kids, and a member of the Jordan Chapel in Pence, Indiana. Dot enjoyed baking, gardening & canning, camping, crocheting, quilting, watching her Hoosiers play basketball, playing card/dice with friends & family, and raising and loving not only her children but several nieces, nephews, and neighborhood kids.  Her home was the site of many holiday gatherings including the famous Easter Egg hunts that brought joy to so many.  Dorothy also worked at Con-Agra in Rossville, Molly’s in Hoopeston where she shared her love and knowledge of flowers and plants.  She also spent many years running her antique store Dot’s Alley Shop in Rossville where you could stop in any time and find her not only working hard but enjoying coffee with her friends and neighbors.  In her later years, Dot took great pride in her flower gardens and feeding her birds.  She was a friend and confidant to so many always offering a shoulder to cry on and her honest, and often very blunt advice.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They brought her so much pride and joy!
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Timothy J. Bray, a sister, Barbara Dalle, and a brother Roscoe Kammin.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband John E. Bray. Her sons John (Sandy) Bray of Hoopeston, Mike (Tina) Bray of Rossville. Daughter Beth Ann (Curt) Knecht of Hoopeston, and daughter-in-law Jane (JD) Bray Comrie or Texas.  Two sisters, Sherry (Richard) Cole and Sandra (Jim) Hughes both of Danville, and one brother Larry (Sally) Kammin of Covington, Indiana.  She is also survived by her beloved and adored grandchildren.  Johnny (Lindsey) Bray, RaeAnn (Rob) Webster, Chad (Tiffany) Bruens, April Fowler, Sierra (Matt) Davis, Michael (Kristin) Bray, Matthew (Amber) Bray, Kraig Bray, and Daniel Bass.  Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a some very special and dear friends of whom she loved dearly.

Becky was born on June 25, 1963, in Danville, the daughter of Charlie and Helen (Bennett) Johnson.  She married Brian Underwood on September 2, 1995, in Westville.  He survives.
She is also survived by three sons- David (Michelle) Moore, Jeremy (Lina) Moore and Daniel Moore, all of Danville; two step-sons- Jacob Underwood of Rock Falls, IL, and Adam Underwood of Georgetown; one grandson- Laydon Moore; one brother- Steve (Ruth) Johnson of Georgetown; two sisters- Susan (Elmer) High of Washougal, Washington and Cathy Reynolds of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, fiancé- Greg Wright, brother- Charlie Johnson and sister- Sharon Ward.
Becky previously attended the First Church of God, in Westville.  She loved the Lord and was a very spiritual person.  She enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and spending time with her family, especially her fur baby- Sassy.

Greene (David) of Norfolk, VA; daughter-in-law Jane Cartwright of Myersville, MD; grandsons Tim L. Cartwright, Jr. (Kristen) of Richmond, VA, Christian Cartwright and Patrick Cartwright (Wendy) of Maryland; granddaughter Lauren K. Cartwright of Norfolk, VA; and six great-grandchildren Bradford Wilkins, Alayna Cartwright, Hadley Slayton, Adelyn Cartwright, Madison Cartwright and Alexandra Cartwright.

Donald Victor Allison - November 10, 1950 - January 19, 2022

Obituary Preview: Donald Victor Allison, 71, passed away at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his home in Rossville after a long and valiant battle with COPD.  His son, grandson and Tabitha were with him when he died. Don is survived by his son Jerome (Tabitha Powell), his daughter Alisha Allison, and his grandson Damon Allison, all of Rossville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Debbie, who died on March 24, 2008.
Don was born on November 10, 1950, in Danville, the only child of Robert and Barbara (Swartz) Allison.  He grew up in Rossville and went to school with the same group of friends for all 12 grades. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was widely liked, and often said that growing up in Rossville during the 1950s and 1960s was "like growing up in Mayberry but a lot more fun".  After graduating from High School in 1968, he attended Sam's Technical Institute in Indianapolis and graduated with a certificate in electronics. He returned to Rossville and after working at FMC for a few years he joined Tyco International (Symplex Time Recording) where he worked for 27½ years.  He retired from Tyco in 2005 and had a great time during retirement playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, and "doing anything I want every day".
He married Debra Lynn "Debbie" Maxwell on June 5, 1971, at Mann’s Chapel. They lived in Rossville their entire married life and raised their children there.  Don loved playing music, collecting vintage musical equipment, talking music with other musicians, and played in bands his whole life.  He was also exceptionally mechanical and loved creating things with his hands. He made a motorbike at 14 when he mounted a lawnmower motor on a bicycle, then moved up to a Suzuki motorcycle at 15, then moved up to a Triumph at 18, and always had a motorcycle the rest of his life. He was a remarkably talented and good-hearted man and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Rossville Cemetery, in Rossville, with Pastor Jackson Morgan officiating.  Memorials may be made to the family.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Donald’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.

Richard "Dick" Reardon - August 25, 1932 - December 30, 2021

Obituary Preview: Richard “Dick” Reardon passed away December 30, 2021, at 2:50 am, after a battle with lung cancer with his family by his side.
He was born August 25, 1932, to Velma (Shain) and Daniel J. Reardon.  He married Ruthanne Showalter, on April 25, 1959.  She survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers Robert and Merle.
He is survived by 2 sons-Daniel (JoEllen) and Tim (Laura) both of Potomac;  6  grandchildren-Shain (Rebecca Latta) of Potomac, Shanon (Brandon) Clemmons of Fisher, Shawn (Jayden King) of Potomac, Ben Reardon of Potomac, Chaise Reardon of Potomac and Sarah Asbury of Potomac; 11 great-grandchildren-Lorelai Reardon, Lane and Lincoln Clemmons, Layla and Hunter Reardon, Jamison and Lilly Reardon, Kollin, Konner, Aliyah and Brantlee Asbury.
Dick graduated from Potomac High School, in 1950.  He was a member of the winning basketball team that beat Danville, in 1949.  After high school, he traveled to California in a 1932 Chevy (purchased for $25) down Route 66 with Harold Spain.  While in California he worked in a cafeteria as a bus boy and at a Texaco.  He came home Christmas and later joined the Navy in 1952, while enlisted he played basketball for them 2 years.
He started with McBroom Lumber Co. building houses in Potomac and then built house’s and new additions off of Winter Ave in Danville making $100 a week.  He built his own home in the spring of 1961 moving into the basement June 1, 1962.  He built everything in the home except for the stone and concrete and plaster work. He then went to work making custom cabinets for Charlie Pickett.  Dick went on to work at McDowell Construction until starting work for Dick Schomburg, where he worked until retirement as an estimator in 2007.
He was in charge of several big projects including the fertilizer plant in Portage IN, our own Community Building in Potomac was another big project for Dick.  He was known as a millwright, carpenter and estimator.  He loved fishing, hunting, building and repairing any wood projects including back bar and end bar at his son's place of business Lola's.
One of Dicks many projects was building his wife Ruthanne a grandfather clock from raw walnut to finish working clock.  Known for his perfectionism in any project he took on.  Towards his final days Dick loved his once -a- week poker games in Paxton that his granddaughter Chaise would accompany him to.

Visitation will be Monday January 3, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Blurton Funeral Home 400 N. Marcella was born on December 20, 1935, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Jeff and Dora Ellen (Burton) Floyd.  She married Wendell Ingram on August 5, 1972, in Hoopeston.  He preceded her in death on November 13, 1978.
She is survived by two daughters- Jenny (Ingram) and son-in-law Jerry Vessels of Springville, IN and Missy (Ingram) Miller of Springfield, IL; two grandchildren- Kathryn and Marco Vessels; two sisters- Lucy Cross and Sue Zarate both of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
Marcella graduated from Hoopeston High School, in 1953.  She worked for 43 years at Bohn Aluminum, until her retirement.  She was a member of the First Church of God, in Hoopeston, where she was very active and a faithful follower of God.  Marcella loved to travel, and she has been able to visit 38 of the 50 states.  She also enjoyed doing word searches, reading, playing board games and Skip-Bo and spending time with her family.

Patricia Joan Burch - April 14, 1937 - December 01, 2021

Mrs. Burch, or “Patty” as many knew her, was born on April 14, 1937, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Gerald and Alta (Pinnick) Wells.  She married her childhood sweetheart, Floyd L. Burch on January 9, 1954, in Kentland, Indiana.  They were together, until his death, on June 2, 2012.
She is survived by her four children- Susan Lambert of Hoopeston, Shellie Moser (Dale) of Hoopeston, Todd (Kimberly) Burch of Hoopeston and Abbie Brewer of Corinth, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister- Karen Sue (Gerald) Evans of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, 3 grandchildren and her sister-Sandy Brown.
Patricia loved Hoopeston. She had fond memories of working for Dr. Cuonzo in Hoopeston, and St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was an entrepreneur and was the owner/operator of the Halo House candy shop, in Hoopeston. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she was very active in the choir and Altar and Rosary Society.  She enjoyed doing ceramics and she was very artistic.  She also enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano and singing.  She had lots of energy and enjoyed working around her house. Most of all, she enjoyed having her family around her and attending family events.
People loved being in the same room with her. She made every gathering special, just by being there and she was the person who never forgot to celebrate the accomplishments of others, however big or small. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Her family’s consolation is that she passed peacefully from this life, into the arms of her beloved husband and loved ones.

Gilbert on July 29th, 1985 in Rossville, Illinois, she survives.
He is survived by one daughter who he loved with all his heart, Marci Renae (Damen) Hillery, his “favorite” son-in-law Damen R. who he thought of as a son and one granddaughter who he helped name and cherished, Elaina Mae Hillery.  One sister -  Debra L. (Kevin) Miller of Peoria, Arizona; two brothers – Ron E. (JoEllen) Rife of Bedford, Indiana, Michael W. (Kate) Rife of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one brother-in-law – Kenneth D. Gilbert Jr. of Speedway, Indianapolis; his father-in-law, - Kenneth D. Gilbert Sr. of Rossville, Illinois and so many other family and friends he thought the world of.  He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Gilbert.
Doug graduated from Rossville-Alvin High School.  He worked at Food Machinery Corporation (FMC) for 25 years until their closing in 2004. He then received his CDL license and started driving for Sygma, IL to date.
Doug was an avid outdoors man, he loved to fish, bow hunt deer & turkey, mushroom hunting and golfing.  Doug and his brothers had a taxidermy and bow shop where he loved to socialize with everyone that came in.  He loved his many trips to Arizona to visit his sister and parents and an occasional drive over to Las Vegas.
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Burial will be at a later date in Bethel Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Doug’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.

Earl was born on September 20, 1963, in Hoopeston, the son of Frank Eugene and Barbara Jean (Hyde) Irvin.
He is survived by his three children- Tiffani Irvin of Blountstown, Florida, Taylor (Liz) Irvin of Bloomington, Indiana and Kaleb Irvin of Rossville; four brothers- Frankie Irvin of Danville, Ronald Irvin of Hoopeston, Daryl (Lisa) Irvin of Hoopeston and Jason Irvin of Danville; one sister- Holly (Tony) Catencamp of Springfield, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Hoopeston High School, in 1981.  He worked at AutoZone Distribution Center, in Danville, for 28 years.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, for 23 years.  Earl enjoyed watching movies and television, and  listening to music, especially KISS.  He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved telling jokes.

Obituary Preview: God called Julius Herman Henderson, 89, of Hot Springs Village, AR, home on November 20, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family. Julius, better known as Jay, was born July 1, 1930, in Danville, IL, to Erville and Cecil Henderson. He grew up in Bismarck, IL, during his early childhood years and then Veedersburg, IN, during his latter childhood years. He became quite knowledgeable about farming corn and soybeans, as well as growing livestock, on his family farm in Veedersburg. Upon graduating high school, Jay joined the US Navy, serving two years. During this time, he met and married Esther Marie Mycroft. They settled in Denver, CO, after his stint in the Navy, where Jay took up construction work, a trade which he continued his entire working life, building spec homes, custom cabinets, and crown moldings. Jay and Marie resettled in Danville, IL in 1952 and began raising a family. In 1967 they relocated to Kankakee, IL. In 1974 Jay moved to Houston, TX, where construction was booming. In 1995 he retired to Sun City, Georgetown, TX, but continued to build custom cabinets and crown moldings for residents of Sun City. In 2017 he moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, to be with his two daughters. Jay's over whelming passion in life was golf. He played as often as he could and at one point considered going pro. For most of his golfing life he was a scratch player, winning many a bet on the courses he played. Jay is survived by his daughters, Denise Paull and Julianne Henderson, son Brent Henderson, grandsons Alexander Paull, Nicholas Paull, Brentwood Henderson, and great granddaughters Camille and Stacie Henderson.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Gundy Cemetery, in Bismarck, with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #210.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Blurton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
