Kevin is survived by his siblings, Lawrence G. (Jan) Chamberlain Jr. of Athens, Mark (Maureen) Chamberlain of Waverly, Ricky (Sharon) Chamberlain of Sayre, Sara (Fred) Nichols of Colonial Heights, VA, Tammy (Dallas) Tunnicliff of Waverly, Kimberly (Robert) Vrooman of Lockwood, and Sheri (Chris) Smith of Liverpool; his soul mate and lifelong friend, Scott “Beetle” Bailey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kevin was born in Sayre, PA and graduated from Waverly High School. He worked for Huckle’s Body Shop in Waverly for 26 years and went on to work for Matthews Collision in Vestal for the last two years. He loved doing body work, enjoying a good beer, his smokes, cooking and hunting. Obituary Preview: Thomas E. Rynone Jr, 91, of Newfield, lifelong Valley business man, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home following an extended period of declining health.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas E. and Mary Zoeli Rynone; his first wife, Patricia Coumbe Rynone; his brother, Richard, who was killed in action during WWII; his sisters, Annette (infant), Anita Rynone, and Eudine VanGaasbeck.
Tom is survived by his wife of more than 28 years, Melissa Hiley Rynone of Newfield; Teryn (Sydney) Rynone of Germany, Riley Rynone of VanEtten and Dante Rynone of Barton; Richard (Phyllis) Rynone of Waverly, William (Tina) Rynone of Waverly, and Leslie (Charles) Debach of Troy, PA; brother, Robert Rynone of Waverly; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Tom is a 1950 graduate of Waverly High School; he was very proud of being on the football team that played the first game at Waverly Stadium. He enjoyed piloting aircraft, boating, enjoying puzzles, and race cars. He was very proud of holding a track record at Watkins Glen International Raceway. He proudly raced Corvettes in the SCAA circuit. He was involved in the American Legion, VFW, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Shepard Hills Country Club, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Dale Carnegie Alumni, Young Republicans Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America, Penn Yan Flying Club, Director of the Valley Economic Association, and was on the Robert Packer Hospital Board of Directors. Tom began his entrepreneurial dream continuing the Waverly Retinning Works in Waverly, a business that was started by his father. He built the business back after three fires each time. He then ventured to start Rynone Industries that became Rynone Manufacturing and Rynone Kitchen and Bath in Waverly. Tom proudly served in the United States Army, serving from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Michael L. Temple - August 22, 1964 - April 17, 2024

Obituary Preview: Michael Leslie Temple, 59, of Lockwood, New York passed away on April 17th, 2024.
He was predeceased by his father, Leslie Temple; and his sisters, Anne (Marc) Coombs and Carolyn Temple.
Michael is survived by his mother, Margaret Maslin; his sister, Mary (David) Delaney; and his children, Bryan Temple, Ross (Kristy) Temple, Carli (Christopher Obrizzo) Temple, and Patrick Temple; his nephew, Jack (Joany) Delaney; and his nieces, Colleen (Colton) Delaney and Katie Coombs.
Michael was born on August 22nd, 1964 in Waverly, New York. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1982. In high school he participated on the Cross-Country team. Michael then continued his education at the National Tractor Trailer School to earn his CDL, where he began a 40-year career trucking. He went on to work for Mix Brothers Trucking for 31 years. He was known for his love of photography, especially with his trail cameras and watching local eagles, which he used to make his holiday calendars. Mike also enjoyed restoring his Camaro, attending Brockway shows with Carlton Tubbs, hunting, fishing, and taking kayaking trips with Debbie Beatty. He would help anybody, friend or family, and loved picking on people complaining about driving in the snow. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her passion was taking care of her many siblings and her children. She went on to attend Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1980, and received her BS from Elmira College in 1987 and her MS from Syracuse University in 1994, where she received her Masters Degree. She worked at Robert Packer Hospital in numerous positions from 1980 – 2003 until she was downsized from the management team. She was a member of My Brother’s Keeper for 19 years, making sleeping bags for the homeless, a charter member of both the Endless Mountains Quilt Guild and the National Staff Development Organization. She was the leader and member of the Valley MS support Group, having lived with MS since 1991. She was a member of the Robert Packer Hospital Alumni Association and Ugly Quilts. A memorial service to honor Pam’s life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Wilawana United Methodist Church, 1182 Wilawana Road, Sayre, PA with Rev. Ginger Pantle officiating. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Purdy; his five children, Melinda (Adam), Jonathan (Kacie), Colleen (Fisnik), Katelin (Rasmus), and Brenda; his six grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Isaac, Elira, Isabella, and Gabriella; and his brothers, Ivan, Kevin and Nathan; sister, Daryl; his brother-in-law, George Vanderpool and his nephew, Jeremy Vanderpool.
Joel attended Ross Corners Christian academy for high school and was a graduate of Broome Community College with an associate’s degree in Business. Many people remember Joel from his time spent managing the Ames Department Store in Towanda. Joel was an animal lover and regularly brought home new pets for the family including cats, dogs, ducks, and rabbits. He loved seeing his children play. He would take them on adventures through the woods and swimming every day in the summer. When his children grew up, Joel loved seeing his grandchildren play together and walking his beloved dog, Sam. Joel was an avid reader of many different genres. He enjoyed browsing book sales, yard sales, and thrift stores to add more to his collection. He was predeceased by his parents, Hall L. Moore Sr. and Ann Mullin Moore.
Hall is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Johanna Carter Moore of Sayre; his children, Catherine (Matthew Jr.) D’Ortona of S. Waverly and Hall “Butch” L. Moore of Herndon, VA; his grandchildren, Matthew (Isabel Caton) D’Ortona of Washington, DC and Stephen D’Ortona of S. Waverly; his sister, Margaret “Kate” Moore of Tampa, FL; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Hall was born in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Bel Air School in Bel Air, Maryland in the Class of 1958. He went on to Mount St. Mary’s University and graduated with his Bachelors in 1962. Hall obtained his Master’s Degree in Developmental Anatomy from University of Maryland College Park in 1966. Hall worked for Burroughs Wellcome Pharmaceutical in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina for 27 years. He was a Scout Master for 12 years in the Occoneechee Council in North Carolina where he was also the Catholic Chaplin and the only lay Chaplin. After moving to the Valley he joined the Five Rivers Council where he was involved in the Eagle Scouts. Hall was a Pastoral Associate and worked for Blessed Trinity Parrish for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and was a model train enthusiast who collected the O Guage Lionel trains. She worked for several local restaurants, including Iron Kettle and O’Briens Inn before owning and operating Ann’s Coffee Shop on Broad Street in Waverly for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. After retiring she worked at State Line Auto Auction in the cafeteria for many years. Ann enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, working in the flower garden, puzzles and golfing. She enjoyed traveling with Roy and her many trips to Aruba with her good friend, Diane Moore. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and attended the Waverly United Methodist Church. Art was born in Waverly, New York and graduated from Waverly High School. He went on to receive his associates degree from Broome Tech. After graduation he enlisted in the Army. While in boot camp he was pulled for the Link Apollo Program for NASA. He returned to work for Ingersoll Rand for many years and go on to be a salesman. Art owned and operated Simons and Abrams furniture with stores in Waverly, Owego and Ithaca for many years. He was a member and the chairman for the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce for many years and a member of the Waverly Community Methodist Church. Randy was born in Waverly, New York and graduated from Waverly High School in the Class of 1975. He started his working career at Soprano’s Market, the Rail Road, Triple S Lumber and retired from Kennedy Valve in Elmira as a CNC operator. He enjoyed gardening, hot (spicy) foods, pickling and fermenting food, taking trips to the downs to bet on his ponies. He was an avid race fan, going to the races at Oswego, Owego and Pocono’s Raceway. He was a proud Division One Football Scholarship award recipient. Elissa Louise Davis - August 18, 1934 - March 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Elissa Louise Davis, from Waverly, New York passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 89.
Elissa was born on August 18, 1934 in Sayre, PA to George LaRue Miller and Marion Elizabeth Woodard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Donald (1995), Paul (2008) and Kengla (2012); and her two sisters, Michele (2008) and Yvonne (2013).
Elissa, affectionately known as “Sister Davis” to her church family, possessed gifts of generosity, hospitality and event planning. She utilized these gifts to benefit others. Her handcraft-related interest included: sewing clothes, quilts, window treatments, crocheting small doilies, large but delicate “rose” doilies and several bed-sized throws, creating household novelties to sell at church bazaars, and hands-on paint and/or wallpaper home improvement projects in her home, for the church and for friends.
Many Saturday afternoons were spent cooking and preparing for her Sunday dinners. After church she would make her invitations to fill all the seats at the table for Sunday dinner and fellowship. She hosted birthday parties, graduations parties and bridal showers in her home. Elissa was particularly fond of hosting baby showers which always included one of her custom-made themed baby blankets. She crafted many of her own decorations for showers and wedding receptions, as well as baked and decorated several elaborate wedding cakes.
During the Christmas season she spent many hours making dozens of brown sugar cookies and numerous batches of peanut butter fudge for Christmas gifts. Every guest left the house with a container filled with white frosted stars, frosted trees with green sprinkles and frosted bells with red sprinkles, along with several pieces of homemade (crunchy style) peanut butter fudge. Despite all that she did for others, Elissa’s legacy is her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She shared the love of Christ with everyone she encountered. All that she did was done in His name. She shared her faith with her children and in turn her grandchildren, who are eternally grateful.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Clinton Davis, they would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on March 24, 2024; their children, Kim Gildersleeve (Henry), Brian Davis and Summer Maenza (Philip Jr.); she is also survived by her six grandchildren, Philip Maenza III, Caleb Maenza, Josiah Maenza, Anna Maenza, Seth Davis and Luke Davis; she leaves behind her three siblings, Robert (Wilma), Patricia Cole and Ronald (Gwen); her nieces, nephews and special friends also celebrate her life and mourn her passing. A memorial service will be planned for early summer at Greater Valley Assembly of God in Athens, PA. The family is being assisted by the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. William was born in Waverly, NY on April 1st, 1947. He graduated from Waverly in 1965. After graduation he joined the Navy where he learned to be an electrician. After departing from the Navy, he was employed by Penelec for 36 years.
William’s passion was the outdoors where he loved to trap, hunt and fish. He enjoyed his annual hunting trips to Colorado, Kansas and pheasant hunting with his brothers-in-law in North Dakota. He was known around the Valley as “Wild Bill”, “Trapper” and an all-time favorite of “The Skunk Whisperer”. He enjoyed helping people remove their unwanted critters from their property in a safe manner. Bill was a member of the VFW in Waverly and The Sons of Italy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to flea markets, tractors and his salmon fishing trips with his co-workers. He collected guns and knives. He was a member of the Sportsman’s Club for many years. Charles had a love for his animals and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Soper; siblings, Charles Moody, Joseph Moody, and Betty Burns; and son, John Terry.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; sister, Mary Davis; children, Skeet (Ruth), Fred (Penny), Robin (Laurie), Rex (Michele), Sharon (Kenny), and daughter-in-law Patricia; his grandchildren, Amy, Katie, Jason, Michael, and John; and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jack was born in Sayre to John and Fannie on May 6th 1925. He went to high school at Athens Area High School and graduated in 1942. At the age of 21 he bought the Point Farm at the end of South Main Street and worked the land as a farmer from 1946 to 1964. In 1964, he started his own construction business working in and around the Valley. In 1975 he started spending his winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida with his wife just like his parents before him. He always enjoyed golfing with friends, mowing his lawn, and discussing all manner of topics over a cup of coffee at Mr. Donut or any other local restaurant. We often wonder which of these facts he was more proud of, that in his early 90s he golfed his age or that he made $1.25 off his golfing buddies while doing so. He was 32° Freemason in the Nichols Masonic Hall and was involved in the Elks and Moose Lodge as well. After graduating she then went on to beauty school and became a beautician. She was well known as a staple working as a hostess and mother to all at Becky’s Diner.
Luann is survived by her son, Coby (Becky) Young; her daughter, Nicole (Craig Kopatz) Young; stepdaughter, Shannon (Adam) Price; her grandchildren, Savannah and Gabriella Young, Zach and Makenna Badhr and Max Fitzgerald; her four loving sisters, Paula Mattison, Debra (Frank) Stolicker, Pennie (Jeff) Akins and Connie (Gary Tomko) Foley; her very special friend, Stephanie Carnrike; along with many amazing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Luann was predeceased by her loving husband, James Fitzgerald of 30 years. As well as her brother-in-law, Michael Mattison Sr; her nephew, Michael Mattison jr.; and her niece, Kelly Stolicker.
Luann was a die-hard Giants fan. Every year on St. Patrick’s Day you could find her with her family starting at the Hill Top Inn and then her home celebrating with all her family and friends. Her love for her family and friends was her biggest joy. If you were lucky enough to be loved by Luann, you were truly blessed. She was the most strong-willed woman to walk the earth and would fight everyone else’s battles before her own. She was known for always taking care of her family when they fell ill and never leaving their side. Luann truly was an angel that walked the earth. Her wings were ready although our hearts were not.
