Obituary Preview: Miguel Ortiz passed away March 3, 2020 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 61. Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Pius T. Mathew officiating.
Miguel was born in San Miguel, Mexico on September 29, 1958 to Miguel Ortiz and Ignacia Villafranco. He worked for many years in a stone quarry.
Miguel was very outgoing, made friends easily and had a comical sense of humor. He loved his children and talking about them was his favorite subject; he was very proud of all of them. He enjoyed hunting, hunting for treasures and riding around on his bike. Miguel’s love for his home in Mexico remained in his heart forever. Taking vacations to Mexico was one of the most important things to him, he looked forward to each trip.
Miguel’s death was a surprise to everyone, however, they have found comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his parents and brother. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Ignacia Ortiz; and brother, Alfredo Ortiz.
Miguel is survived by his daughters, Celia Guadalupe, Rosa Beatriz and Andrea Alexandra; sons, Vicente Ortiz and Jesus Alberto; brothers, Juan Ortiz of McKinney and Vicente Ortiz of Coolidge; sisters, Alicia of Mexico, Reyna of Mexico, Carmen of McKinney and Rosalinda of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

Juan was born February 23, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas. While living in San Antonio, he worked for the Dollar Store and Walmart; work was something he thoroughly enjoyed and always eager to do. He has lived in Mexia for the past 17 years.
Juan was very outgoing and made friends easily. He also loved to flirt, tell jokes and was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. Because of his special personality and loving ways, his Cen-Tex family, happily, adopted him as one of their own. He was loved by all who knew him.
Juan is survived by his Cen-Tex family and many friends.

Obituary Preview: Marion Estelle Thomas Kegans, 89, went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2020. Ms. Kegans was born on December 18, 1930 in Farrar, Texas to Marion Little Thomas and Essie Wells Thomas. She lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Dallas, Tyler, Livingston and later years in Fort Worth, but called Mexia her home.
Ms. Kegans was a homemaker. She worked for a time in fashion sales when she lived in Tyler. Ms. Kegans’ passions were her family, gardening and baking. Her delicious cakes were enjoyed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Essie Thomas; her husband, Ray Kegans; her daughter, Maryanna Van Dine and her sister, JoNell Grider. Ms. Kegans was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Harris, grandchildren and spouse Macy and Chris Workman, Jon Harris and great-grandson, Jonah Workman and two nieces. She is also survived by her stepchildren and grandchildren from her husband, Ray Kegans.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow immediately afterwards in the Mexia Cemetery with Macy Workman, Chris Workman and Jon Harris officiating.

Billy Lee - May 17, 1945 - February 25, 2020

Obituary Preview: Billy Howard Lee passed away February 25, 2020 in Mexia, Texas at the age of 75. He was born May 17, 1944 in Mayfield, Kentucky to Jesse Jewell and Flora Ellen Spicer Lee. While in high school, he decided to join the Army where he became a member of those who served in the Vietnam War.
Thirty years ago, Billy moved to Mexia, went to work for Trim-Aire Aviation and remained there the entire time. He not only made Mexia his home, he made numerous friends and some became more like family. Billy enjoyed going to the VFW and spending time with his friends there. He also enjoyed playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Flora Lee.
Billy is survived by two brothers, Robert H. Lee and Rudy Lee; one sister, Judy Carol Cain; special friends, Boyd and Barbara Miller; and many other friends.
No service has been set at this time.

Benny Lucas - June 09, 1931 - February 24, 2020

Obituary Preview: Benny Wayne Lucas, longtime respected educator, passed away February 24, 2020 in Groesbeck, Texas at the age of 88. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, February 26 and funeral services at 2 pm Thursday, February 27 at the Blair Stubbs Chapel. Joe Lucas, April Lucas and Ben Lucas will officiate and interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. David Cartwright, Benjie Cartwright, Seth Alpert, Chris Murphy, Jonathan Durham, Zach Birkner, Larry Joiner and Eddie Plummer, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Lucas, Jr., Lance Lucas and Larry Wilson.
Benny graduated from Mexia High School in 1948, a member of the undefeated regional championship Blackcat football team. In 1952, he graduated from Abilene Christian College and later earned a Master of Science degree from Texas Tech University. Benny taught school for 19 years in Colorado and Texas and was an administrator in Mexia ISD schools for another 19 years.
Benny married the love of his life, Nell (Daugherty) Lucas in 1952. He was a devoted husband, and loved his family, leading them and those around him by his good example. He was a member of the Church of Christ and preached the gospel in West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and later in Thornton and Shiloh, Texas.
Farming and growing peaches was something Benny truly enjoyed. He had a special love for young people. Respect and support for those around him were important to “Mr. Lucas” and he was a role model for many students in learning how to truly succeed in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marie Randall Lucas; wife, Wilna Nell Lucas and sister, Patricia Ann Prince.
Benny is survived by his four children: Benny Lucas, Jr., Kathleen Reaves, Wilna Durham, and Anna Alpert; brother, Joe Lucas and a host of grandchildren and. great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Larry Lee Hulsey - December 20, 1956 - February 23, 2020

Obituary Preview: Larry Lee Hulsey, 63, of Mexia, passed away, Sunday, February 23, 2020 in a Waco hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 20, 1956 in Houston, Texas to Milton and Naomi (Riggle) Hulsey, a twin to Gary.
While attending Bellaire High School, he was an employee of Holloway Day Care where he became close friends to the owners, Herb and Joyce Holloway and Dianne.
Larry moved to Hubbard in 1976, after marrying Karen Crabtree; two sons were born this union. In 1978, he went to work in the Mexia State School Maintenance Department but due to a back injury, which plagued him throughout his life, was forced to retire after 25 years of service. He was given the nickname of “Rev”, while employed at the MSS, which remained with him for the rest of his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Milton Hulsey and Naomi Rhodes; stepfather, Weldon Rhodes; and a stepson, Jonathan Darden.
Larry is survived by his sons, Brandon L. Hulsey of Temple and Bradley A. Hulsey of Wortham; a beloved grandson, Luke S. Hulsey of Florence, CO; two sisters, Nancy (Ray) Deming and Sue (Chris) Lobue all of Montgomery; three brothers, Mark (Phyllis) Hulsey of Richmond, Gary (Vicky) Hulsey of Houston and Mike (Jean) Hulsey of Houston; friend, Karen Hulsey of Wortham; numerous nieces, nephew and cousins; and special friends and care takers, Kim, Donnell and Melissa.
A memorial service for Larry will be held at 2:30 p.m. on March 7, 2020 at the Church of The Redeemed, 4300 Orchard Lane, Waco, Texas with Pastor Jeff Stinson and son, Brandon officiating. A video of his life will, also, be shared during the service. Refreshments will be served following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Church of the Redeemed in Larry’s name.

Effie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 12, 1925 to O. F. and Florence Bell Howard Fisher. She was a graduate of Mexia High School. Effie married Charles Ray Tilghman, Sr. and they were the proud parents of two sons, Charles, Jr. and Michael. She was secretary of Greenbrier Limited in Dallas, prior to retiring after 15 years of service.
Effie enjoyed a lifelong hobby of collecting Rooster/Chicken memorabilia. She enjoyed playing bingo with friends and, prior to Charles’s death, they enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises together. She loved her forever companions, her dogs, China and Gucci.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O. F. and Florence Fisher; son, Michael Shane Tilghman; sister, Geraldine Hall; brothers, Harold, Corvil and O. F. Fisher, Jr.
Effie is survived by her loving son, Charles R. Tilghman, Jr. and wife, Diane of Van Alstyne; grandson, Cody Shane Tilghman; and several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was born July 14, 1933 in Mexia, Texas to Elmer Octavis and Ether Mae Williams Russell. She married Bryan McClure McMahon on June 26, 1953 and they were blessed with four children, Terry, Sherry, Kerry and Gerry. In addition to being a full time wife and mother, she worked as a bookkeeper for Flintex, a carpet company for a number of years.
Maxine loved nothing more than having her home filled with family, especially, the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren. Although cooking was not something she really enjoyed, she was a very good cook. She also enjoyed watching old Western movies, music, playing the guitar and singing in church. Maxine was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ether Russell; husband of 37 years, Bryan McMahon; daughter, Gerry Bell; brothers, Albert, Dan, Paul, Henry and Virgil Russell; and sister, Eva Powell.
Maxine is survived by her loving children, Terry Sodolak and husband, L.J., Jr. of Sealy, Sherry McMahon of Jewett, and Kerry McMahon and wife, Donna of Mexia; grandchildren, Rebecca Colburn and husband, Steve, John Sodolak and wife, Tiffany, Eden Maddalone, Bryan McAlpine and wife, Jessica, Cara Mose and husband, Alex, Jana Strong and husband, James, Caleb McMahon, Russell McMahon and wife, Tiffany, Ben McMahon and wife, Brandy and Christopher McMahon; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Ruby Randall of Chandler, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

On April 1, 1976, Glenda married her lifelong partner, Grover L. “Sonny” Lane, in Las Vegas, Nevada; they were blessed with two sons, Shaun and Bobby. She was forced to retire from Walmart, due to health reasons, after 19 years of service
Glenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was the highlight of her life. She recently taught her three grandchildren how to make “Dream Catchers”. She collected Barbie dolls, in addition to many other things, and enjoyed doing art and crafts occasionally. Glenda also loved her pets, Cookie, Dixie, Zach, Rusty and Dino, who were not the usual dogs and/or cats; she was open to making most any animal, reptile or whatever her pet. She had a friendly, outgoing personality and always found pleasure in the simple things in life. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank McCully

Obituary Preview: Martha Ann Byrd was born on November 26, 1951 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Andor Deforest and Margaret Watkins Byrd. She attended Golfcrest School and Park Place School prior to coming to the Mexia State Supported Living Center.
Most of the time, Martha enjoyed talking with the staff throughout her daily activities and occasionally interacting with her peers. Her favorite song was Jesus Loves Me, which she sang for her sister at a memorial service in the campus Chapel. Martha’s favorite foods were hamburgers, pepperoni pizza, her dogs and peanut butter cookies. Activities that represented happiness to her were as follows: Going shopping at Walmart Going out to eat at Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut and Golden Corral Going to camp Rip, socializing and watching people Listening to country music, watching TV and movies Going to the Beauty Shop to get her hair and nails done Always having a purse to carry Playing cards and visits and letters from family Drinking Dr. Pepper and Diet Coke
Martha had recently been a resident of Peace of Mind Care Group in Houston where she had become known as the light of the party. She will be remembered as a sweet person with a beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Judy Darlene Norwood.
Martha is survived by her brothers, Mike Byrd, Ron Byrd and Larry Atkins, Nephews, Timmy, Steve and Darren Byrd, Nieces, Missy Byrd and Danyel Byrd and by many other relatives and friends.

Ronald was born February 9, 1945 in Mexia, Texas to Woodrow and Mildred Russell Cotton. He attended Tehuacana Elementary School and Mexia High School. He married Joy Walpole in 1962, but later divorced. They were the parents of three children, Tammi Cotton Smith, Keli Cotton Jarosz and Ashlye Cotton Bobbitt.
Ronald was employed at A & P Grocery, while in high school, then for Ferguson Motor Company, prior to he and his wife moving to Waco where he was employed by Montgomery Ward for 10 years and Central Freight Lines for 20 years. After he became interested in country music, he and his wife formed C & M Productions, which required a move from Waco to Nashville, TN. Over the years, Ronald was associated with Ascept, BMI, MCA, CBS, Sonia, Polygram, RCA, Mercury Records and many independent record companies. He also worked with many recording artist such as: George Strait, Garth Brooks, Statler Brothers, Barbara and Louise Mandrell, Billy Ray Cyrus, Alabama, Dwight Yoakam, Michael Jackson, Mo Bandy, Joe Stampley, Tonya Tucker, Lara Morgan, Keith Whitley, Johnny and June Carter, Jimmie Dickens, David Frazil and Janie Frickie. Ronald was the manager of Ronna Reeves and Sylvia. He was also neighbors and good friends to Dollie Parton and Eddie Arnold. Due to health reasons, Ronald left the music industry and returned to Mexia where he completed his working career, of almost ten years, at the Mexia State School
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William W. Cotton; grandparents, Leonard and Georgia Mae Moses; father, Woodrow W. Cotton; mother, Mildred Cotton Monk; grandson, Stormy Smith; and brother, Rodger Dale Cotton.
Ronald is survived by his children, Tammi Smith, Keli Jarosz and Ashlye Bobbitt; grandchildren, Courtney, Presley, Caleb and Mattie Smith, Cullen and Annie Kennedy, Connor and Emma Bobbitt and Charlotte; brother, Stanley Cotton and wife, Belinda of Mexia; sister, Linda Ford and husband, Billy of Barry, TX, sister-in-law Betty Coleman of Kirvin, uncle and best friend, Leonard E. Leta Glass - January 27, 1921 - January 28, 2020

Obituary Preview: Leta Glass, (nee Leta Maud Crawley) formerly of Mexia, passed away in Bryan, Texas on January 28, 2020, at the age of 99.
Born to Will and Verna Crawley on January 27, 1921 in New Hope, Leta was raised in the Mexia area (New Hope, Cotton Gin) and she attended the New Hope School. In her early twenties she worked in Dallas at the John E. Mitchell plant. She was one of many women who worked as welders at the plant during World War II.
In 1945, Leta married Thomas W. Glass of Waco, TX. Through the years they resided in Abilene, Corsicana, Odessa, Houston, and San Angelo, but in the 1980's made their final move back to Mexia. They raised three children: Ellen, Thomas (Tom) and Teri. They were married for fifty-five years.
Leta found her joy in family and friends. She was an excellent cook and, in our family, food was hospitality served with a smile. Seconds were not optional, they were mandatory. She enjoyed reading novels and biographies, and she was a wordsmith. Her penned notes and letters were often colorful and eloquent.
Leta was a member of the Baptist church and exemplified what it means to be a Christian.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Barnes and Teri Glass, her son, Thomas W. Glass Jr.and his wife Brenda, her sister Ella Lee West, grandchildren Susan Moore, Natalie Camargo and husband James, Richard Pasley and wife Megan, Lindsye Edwards and husband Dax, Natalie Miller and husband Chris, and Greg Glass. Her great grandchildren are Parker Edwards, Seth Pasley, Bryce Gilmore and wife Crystal, Nicolas Gilmore, Colton Moore and wife Rashi, Ashton Stallings, Caleb and Ashton McIntyre, Zachary and Noah Joiner, Colt, Cate and Cambry Miller. Great-great granddaughters are Alexandra Stallings and Kyler Grace Harrison. Numerous nieces and nephews are also a part of her treasured family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Verna Crawley, husband Thomas W. Glass, sister Erma Trent, brother Willie Weldon "Buddy" Crawley, and great-great grandson Kraig Ryan Thomas Stallings.
Visitation will be at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, TX 11:30 - 12:30 on Monday, February 3, 2020. Graveside service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Cotton Gin Cemetery with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.

Karen was born February 6, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Oscar Leonard and Brenda Allyne (Jean) Greer. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1965. Karen worked as a beautician for 20 years, a job that seemed to be her calling from the day she was born. Just as many mothers, her mother saved the dolls she and, sister, Kathi had throughout their childhood and there was never any doubt which dolls belonged to Karen. Her dolls consisted of many new hair dos and new colors. During high school, she was ahead of the times as she occasionally tried out new colors on her hair, which happened to be like the popular color styles of today.
After she was forced to give up her career as a beautician, due to health reasons, she worked for Reed’s Flowers in Waco for 10 years and then completed her working career for the Heart of Texas Group Homes. Karen found the job in the group home very rewarding; she loved the girls she took care of. Karen loved her family and was so proud of them. She also had several close friends that she enjoyed spending time with, whether it was meeting for lunch or just getting together to visit. Karen’s life revolved around her family and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Brenda Greer; and granddaughter, Kristie Mitchell.
Karen is survived by her son, Kelly Bounds and wife, Katrina of Mexia; grandchildren, Danielle Smith, John McClinton and wife, Kallie and Reagan Bounds; great granddaughter, Kristine McClinton; sister Kathi Murphy of Richmond, TX; nephew, Jason Murphey and wife, Sandra; niece, Jenny Cervantes and husband, Oscar; number of great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Frances Daniell.

Donna was born August 3, 1937 in Lost Prairie, Texas to William Prentice and Willie Mae Vickery Vest. She lived most of her life in Limestone County. On August 11, 1956, she married her lifelong partner, Robert L. Allen, in Teague, Texas. They were blessed with two daughters, Brenda and Rhonda. She was first, and most importantly, a homemaker, however, she worked for the Mexia Textile Mill as well as a car hop – on roller skates. Being a strong-willed woman, she, along with the other women, walked out at the Mill after their boss was fired; he was the only one that would stand up and defended the women.
Donna's life revolved around her family. After her first grandson came along, he couldn’t say Grandma, so she became, affectionately, known as “Ginnie”, which also became her new name to everyone. Although she loved her husband and daughters, the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchild were so special and truly owned her heart. In the eyes of her grands, Ginnie was a model grandmother who, too, was dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William P. and Willie Mae Vest; grandson, Andrew Shockley; and siblings, Etta Vest Richardson, Bruce, Herman, Melvin, Ruben and Aubrey Gene Vest.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert L. Allen; daughters, Brenda M. McDaniel and husband, Charles of Groesbeck and Rhonda Yawn and husband, Carlton "Buzz" of Groves; grandchildren, Charlie McDaniel, Rachel & Tim Newman, Melody McDaniel, Elizabeth Shockley and Dustin Ferguson, Timothy and Tammy Shockley, Nicki and Dakota St. John, Corinna Yawn and Dani Shockley; a number of great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Mary Alice Curl Jones was born January 9, 1930 in Groesbeck, Texas to Homer and Minnie Perry Curl. She attended school in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School. She married Jesse Jones, the love of her life, in 1950, and together they raised three children, Danny, Candy and Monte.
After living in Dallas and Personville, they purchased a farm in Shiloh, Texas in 1962 which would be their home until 1977. While Jesse owned and operated Mexia Credit Company, Mary worked at home and was involved in every aspect of her family’s life. Mary worked as a homemaker, gardener, seamstress, room mother, PTA president, Band Booster president, cashier at Groesbeck Livestock Auction and alongside her husband in raising registered Charolais cattle. Together, they enjoyed every aspect of cattle ranching for many years.
After Jesse’s untimely death at 51, Mary continued to run Mexia Credit Company for a short time. A tragic car accident claimed the life of her youngest son, Monte, in 1980. She later worked for the City of Mexia until retiring. Mary enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing in various bridge clubs and was an avid golfer working in many capacities for the Women’s Golf Association. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia since 1962, serving in various capacities including youth ministry, benevolence, Vacation Bible school, Women’s Ministry program and as a seamstress for the annual Easter pageant. In later years, she was an active volunteer with Hospice. Mary traveled extensively with church groups, women’s groups, friends, school groups and a beloved niece, Kelly Taylor, visiting five of the seven continents. She also volunteered on medical missions through Baylor University with teams led by the late Dr. Charles Shellenberger and the late Dr. Pat McSpadden
Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 19, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband and youngest son; her parents; brother Edward Curl and sister, Marie Brous. She is survived by her son, Dr. Dan Jones and wife Camille of Dallas, TX and her daughter, Candace Fain and husband Pat of Corsicana. She adored her six grandsons and ten great-grandchildren. They are Rory Winter and his daughter Hayley of Abilene, TX; Rowdy and Kimmy Winter and sons, Braydon, Brooks and Bryce of Frisco, TX; Rhett and Lacy Winter and their son Harlon and daughter Dylynn of Huntsville, TX; Andy and Erinn Jones and their son Lachlan and twin girls Ryan and Emerson of Middleton, Wisconsin; Alex and Nicole Jones and daughter Charlotte of Dallas, TX and Eric Jones of Waco, TX.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the employees of Skilled Care of Mexia and Hand in Hand Hospice of Corsicana, TX.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck. Ronny was born September 16, 1935 in Mexia, Texas to Floyd Duke of Mexia and Jane Duke of Odessa. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for nine years; the love and patriotism for his country remained true throughout his life. He was a retired employee of Texas Instruments.
Ronny’s family was the light of his life, he loved nothing more than spending time with them. He was also very creative and could build or fix most anything. He enjoyed being outdoors, as much as possible, taking in all that nature had to offer. Ronny was an active member of the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland.
He was preceded in death by parents; and his loving wife of 63 years, Huberta Duke.

Born October 17, 1939 to Dona and Ivan Banks. Joann was a precocious child. She adored working along side her father as he built houses and fixed roofs. It was evident from an early age that she loved the outdoors and this stayed with her all her life as she worked in her greenhouse and mowed her 80 acre farm.
She married Frederick C. T. Slauson in 1957 and raised five loving children who all inherited her independent mind and will. Joann had a thirst for knowledge and learning from an early age. So, it was no surprise that she finished high school and went straight to college at Texas Tech University. With many subjects piquing her interest such as archaeology, engineering, and geology , she eventually settled on Education. She later earned her master’s degree in Education and went on to become a highly successful and awarded principal in the Duncanville Independent School District. Joann’s heart for children led her in all the years she worked in schools until she retired after a long career
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dona and Ivan Banks, her brother, H.C. Banks, her husband, Frederick Slauson, and her son, Happy Slauson.
She is survived by her children, Charlise Boyer and her husband Richard, Bonnie Simon and her husband Mark, Rebecca Williams, and Michael Slauson and his wife Melinda; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister Mary Lynn Banks Gorman; and too many nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones to count.
A celebration of Joann’s life is planned for Sunday, January 12th at Thornton United Methodist Church, 1302 Marshall, Thornton, Texas at 1PM. Pastor Steve Nance will be officiating.
Instead of flowers, Joann would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for another person. Mary Louise was born July 13, 1945 in Mexia to Jess and Mary Grace Rice Bell. She lived a full life with many interests and passions. Family was an extremely important part of her life, raising her three sons and being a mother to many others who were fortunate enough to have been taken under her wing. She had an open door policy at her home and fed many of her sons friends with her marvelous cooking.
Mary Louise was also involved in the business world in several capacities, including being a lab technician in Houston as well as at the Mexia State School, office manager when Triple B cleaning service opened and owning and operating the Dinner Bell Café in Wortham for several years.
In recent years, she loved doting on her grandchildren who became the light of her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and was able to grow beautiful plants. Birdwatching while drinking coffee also brought her pleasure in her quiet time.
Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brandon Kurt McCoslin, grandson, Brandon McCoslin and by Brent Harper, who she raised as a son.
She is survived by sons, Blayne Heath McCoslin and wife Mollie McCoslin of Wortham and Blake Kristen McCoslin and wife Lana Curry McCoslin of Wortham, daughter in law Mary Eileen McCoslin and Grandchildren, Maegan Louise McCoslin, Ethan, Erica and Evan McCoslin and Cade, Allie and Grace McCoslin and sister, Suzie Grizzard of Austin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Wortham with the Reverend Chris Rowe and Reverend Justin Colquette officiating. Interment will follow in the Wortham Cemetery. Ethan McCoslin, Cade McCoslin, Billy Whaley, Justin Sullivan, Rodney Latham and Larry Bennett will serve as pallbearers. Evan McCoslin and Jamie Boyd will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Angie Smugula, Edward Frazier, Clayton Frazier, Clint Frazier, Patrick Frazier, Mika Frazier, Crystal Frazier, Monika Frazier and Victor Guiterrez will serve as pallbearers.

Blanche was born October 21, 1926 in Speigner, Alabama to Horace McCoy and Mary Exa Mattox Russell. She married Charles W. Frazier, Sr. on July 26, 1947 in Tyler, Texas and they were blessed with four sons, Charles, Jr. “Chuck”, Lex, Mike and David. They moved to Coolidge in 1972, established Frazier and Frazier Industries, became a vital part of Coolidge and made it their home. Blanche also opened her own business in 1974, The Unlimited Corner and maintained it until 2005.
Blanche lived every day, serving the Lord, taking care of her family and, willingly, helping others. She had a big heart, generously gave to those in need and always willing to volunteer for projects that would help better the community. Anytime she knew a family had lost a loved one, she made sure there were several large dishes of food delivered to them. Blanche loved and respected everyone and treated them as she wanted to be treated; she was a true example of the Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coolidge, Blanche served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Finance and Decorating Committees. She served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Coolidge Housing Authority and on the Coolidge City Council. There was a time the Coolidge Garden Club wasn’t meeting, due to having to abandon their building. Later, they were able to secure a room in the Civic Center and Blanche voluntarily decorated the room, at her expense, and was instrumental in helping reorganize the club; she served as president for several years. She also served on the Parkview Regional Hospital Board for 25 years.
In addition to enjoying time with her family, church and civic activities, she enjoyed having garage sales.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles W. Frazier, Sr.; grandson, Charles W. “Will” Frazier, III; brothers, Horace, Jr., Buddy, and Paul Russell; and sisters, Annie Mae Scales and Lillian Pearl Russell. Blanche is survived by four sons and their families; Chuck and Deborah Frazier and their family, daughter, Angie Smugula and husband, Carl and children, Brittany Jacobs, Kelsi Gradesar and Alex Gradesar, son, Clint Frazier and children, Taylor Valentine and wife, Taelor and children, Blakee and Brody Valentine and Dustin Frazier; Lex and Helen Frazier and their family, son, Edward Frazier and wife, Julie and children, Lexie and Landen Frazier, son, Clayton Frazier and Jordan Huse and Clayton's son, Jack Wallace Frazier; Mike and Bertha Frazier and Mike’s daughters, Mika and Monika Frazier; David and Renee Frazier and family, son, Patrick Frazier and daughter, Crystal Frazier; sister, Faye Hand; and a number of nieces and nephews

On July 17, 1978, Raymond married Pamelia Jo Abbott in Denton, Texas; they were blessed with 41 years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. It was easy to see by the way Raymond lived his life that he not only cherished his family but was a man that truly loved the Lord. He was also a kind man with a giving heart. In addition to enjoying time with his family, he enjoyed bowling. Raymond’s family will miss him but finds comfort in knowing he is with the Lord and watching over them.

Johnny loved his family which included a special kitty, Callie Sue. Gardening and growing flowers were his favorite pastime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jodie and Opal Ruth Moore; and a nephew, James Wesley Bell.

Martha was born October 22, 1947 in Mexia, Texas to Clyde and Virginia Gregory Clark. After graduating from Mexia High School, Class of 1966, she received a Business Degree from Durham Business School in Waco. On July 30, 1980, she married Charles Adrian “Chuck” Lynch.
Martha began a long career, as a legal assistant, with Attorney Roy Simmons. Pat Simmons eventually took over his Dad’s practice, and later, she joined him at the firm of Cannon & Simmons. After Pat was elected District Judge, she went to work for Limestone County as Court Administrator. Through the years of working with Roy and wife, Virginia, she watched Pat and his siblings grow up and all become lawyers. As a result of the many years they shared, Martha grew to think of them as her extended family; they were always there to support each other in every way. She also had a very devoted and loyal friend in her “handyman”, Cornelius Mims, who worked 34 years for her; anytime she needed any type of help, she could always depend on him.
Martha looked forward to being with her family over the holidays or anytime. She was always, especially, anxious to see her great niece, Xanna; she was so proud of Xanna.
Over the years, Martha made numerous friends, maintained a close relationship with many former classmates and enjoyed living at her home at Lake Mexia, where neighbors looked out for each other. She also had three special puppies, Sophie, Missy and Maggie, that she dearly loved. Martha enjoyed watching the sunset, traveling with friends, most anywhere, but especially to the beach.
Martha was blessed to have many special friends and family to help support her in so many ways, especially, during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde and Virginia Clark; her husband of almost 34 years, Chuck Lynch; and sister, Mary Mortimer.
Martha is survived by two nephews, Michael Mortimer and wife, Natayla of Eugene, OR and Chris Mortimer of Grapevine; great niece, Xanna of Eugene, OR; brother-in-law, Robert Mortimer of Mexia; several aunts and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Dr. Dovalee Dorsett of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2019. Dovalee ("Dovie") was born on August 7, 1933 in Bossier City, Louisiana and grew up on various air force bases in the US and Japan. She graduated from Coolidge High School in 1950. After marriage and kids, she returned to school and obtained a PhD in statistics. After being a lecturer at SMU and UT Dallas, she and her loving spouse of 34 years, Dr. Patrick Odell, moved to Waco and were professors at Baylor from 1987-2005. At retirement, they moved to their country home in Valley Mills in 2006, where they lived until 2019.
Dovie was known for her determination, independence, and especially her loving heart. She was most happy when visiting or helping her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and loved family gatherings. She was loved by all and was a favorite at the Sunset Home in Clifton.
She is survived by her spouse, Patrick Odell, brother, Tracy Dorsett, children, Kathy Mier and Tracy McElroy, stepchildren Mike Odell, James Odell, Patricia Kimray, Deborah Johnson, and Julie Odell, and grandchildren, Benjamin, Taylor, Annie, Jeremy, Patrick, Lynne, Ashley, Blake and Bryce, great grandchild Erin, niece Lee Dorsett, and nephew Tracy Dorsett.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco with Pastor Ken James officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
