James K. Webber - March 07, 1935 - January 04, 2020

Departed: 01/04/2020 (Clifton)
Obituary Preview: James (“Jim”) K. Webber, 84, of Pompton Plains, NJ, formerly of Clifton, NJ, passed away on January 4, 2020.
Born and raised by his mother, Ruth, and father, John, in Visitation Parish in the Bronx, NY, Jim lived in Clifton for forty-eight years before moving to Pompton Plains three years ago. Prior to retirement, he was employed for more than three decades as an assistant branch manager with Manufacturers Hanover Trust, primarily in the Bronx, and then for several years with his many friends at Primepak in Teaneck, NJ. Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. He was, like his father, a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, most recently of the Regina Mundi Council 3969 in Clifton. Jim was also a member of the Morris County Republican Committee and numerous veterans groups in the area. He was a longtime, faithful parishioner of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, and most recently was a valued member of the Cedar Crest Catholic Community in Pompton Plains.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara D. (nee DeLong) Webber in 2015 and by two dearly missed siblings: sister Madeline Moran and brother Jack Webber. Jim also long mourned the passing of his many childhood friends and relatives from the Bronx, who all kept in close touch for more than seven decades.
Known to all for his incredibly quick wit and good humor, Jim made fast friends wherever he went. A New York Giants season ticket holder for more than 60 seasons, Mr. Webber passed two great passions on to his devoted son, James (“Jay”) K. Webber, Jr., of Morris Plains: his faith, and certain New York sports teams (the Giants, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers). The former has served his son well; it is anticipated that the latter will continue to cause as much heartache for Jay and his children as it caused Jim.
Jim held a special affection and admiration for Jay’s beautiful wife Johanna, and he was a faithful and beloved little brother to dear sister Patricia Byron of Garnersville, NY. The unparalleled joy of his life, however, were Jim’s eight cherished grandchildren: Annalise, Molly, Cora, Jack, Max, Eli, Lily and Claire, who continually delighted and amazed him at every turn. Jim was a simple, happy, and decent man - a good son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed.

Ida M. Sellinger - September 23, 1932 - December 29, 2019

Departed: 12/29/2019 (Clifton)
Obituary Preview: "Don't be afraid of death; be afraid of an unlived life. You don't have to live forever, you just have to live."— Natalie Babbitt
Ida Marie Freeborn Sellinger enjoyed a full, wonderful life before passing away peacefully in her home in Clifton, New Jersey, on December 30, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia on September 22, 1932 to first-generation Irish immigrants, Ida and older brother William (“Bill”) were raised to believe in the value of hard work, the delight of laughter, and the strength of love.
Ida strove for excellence in school, earning herself a spot in Philadelphia’s prestigious University of Pennsylvania. There, she pledged Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Over the next 50 years, Ida continued to meet annually with her beloved circle of sorority sisters. It was through one of these sisters that she met her one true love, William “Bill” Sellinger, who she married in 1958.
Following Bill’s graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, Ida and Bill moved to Clifton, New Jersey where Bill founded a personal injury law firm and Ida performed physical therapy. In 1959, Ida gave birth to her first son, William (“Billy”), followed by Timothy in 1964 and James in 1966.
While raising her family, Ida handled the law firm’s bookkeeping and supported Bill in his political career. Ever the consummate hostess, Ida welcomed impromptu gatherings of family and friends, often performing “loaves and fishes-type miracles” stretching meals meant for a few into delicious feasts for many.
Since their vast group of family and friends loved spending time in their home, Ida and Bill started hosting an annual Christmas Eve party, an event that expanded to house-filling crowds over time, and which came to signify Christmas itself to many of its regular guests.
Over the years, Ida and her family enjoyed travelling on cruises together and spending winter months on the golf course and in the swimming pool at their Florida vacation home.
As oldest son Billy grew older, he displayed enormous artistic and musical abilities. His unexpected passing at age 29 caused great sorrow.
Son Timothy followed in his father’s footsteps, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law school and partnering in the family law firm, which became Sellinger & Sellinger.
James continued the family tradition, becoming a partner in Sellinger & Sellinger after graduating from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Sellinger & Sellinger’s proximity to the Clifton family home allowed Bill, Timothy and James to share many weekday afternoons with Ida, discussing current events and teasing each other over lunch.
Over the years, Bill and his “Ida Babe” shared triumphs and tragedies, laughter and tears, their love growing ever stronger through it all. Bill passed away in 1999, and it was Ida’s courage and strength that carried her family through their grief.
James married in 2000, and in 2001, Ida’s much-longed-for first grandchild Griffin was born, followed by granddaughters Devin and Alexandra (“Allie”).
In 2003, Timothy married Edyta “Edy” Koziel, and soon Ida welcomed granddaughters Kathryn (“Katy”) and Jacqueline.
Ida doted on her grandchildren, happily attending countless concerts, performances, parties, and graduations over the years. Always there for a hug, homemade milkshake or board game, Ida’s grandchildren knew she’d move heaven and earth for them and they loved her deeply.
This holiday season, Ida held on long enough to see her family and friends through one last Christmas party. Due to the passing of family and friends over the decades, the guest count grew smaller, yet love and laughter remained and multiplied, filling Ida’s home one last time as it had always filled her life.
Ida Sellinger is survived by her son Timothy and his wife, Edy, son James, and grandchildren Griffin, Katy, Devin, Allie and Jacqueline.

Guillermo Rolon - June 25, 1924 - December 14, 2019

Departed: 12/14/2019 (Clifton)
Obituary Preview: Guillermo Rolon Ortiz, affectionately known as Papi Guillo, passed away peacefully in Wayne, N.J. on December 14, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Guillermo was born on June 25, 1924 to Fructoso and Rita Rolon in Cidra, Puerto Rico. He was part of a large family of siblings which included sisters: Alicia, Dulce, Carmen, Hilda, Lucy, Aida, Norma and Irma and brothers Jose, Baltazar, Raymond, Pedro, Juan, Angel Luis, Juan Alberto, Angelo, William, and Hector.
He spent most of his young life watching and taking care of his family, teaching them the value of work and discipline. After some time, Guillermo would move to Aibonito, Puerto Rico where he met his first wife, Felicita Rolon. The two would move to Cayey, Puerto Rico shortly after, where they would welcome into the world their children, Luisa I. Rolon and Jose G. Rolon. During that time he also served in the US Army and was stationed in many places throughout the world including France and Germany.
Guillermo and Felicita left Puerto Rico and lived for a number of years in Brooklyn, NY where they raised both Luisa and Jose. Eventually they would move back to Rio Piedras, P.R. then to Turabo Gardens in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
In the winter of 1997, Felicita Rolon Ortiz would pass and make Guillermo a widower, until he would meet and later marry Maria Nery Trinidad and then relocated to Carolina, Puerto Rico. The two remained together until she passed in July 2013 and made him a widower once again.
Papi Guillo would spend his professional life as a Post Office worker where he would eventually become and retire as a Postal Police Officer in Puerto Rico. It is in Puerto Rico where he spent lots of time with his grandchildren on their summer visits. Much of this time was spent travelling to the beautiful beaches of Escambron and Isla Verde, las Fiestas Patronales de Aibonito and Cayey, wrestling events held at various sports arenas, and his favorite, las Fiestas de los Aibonitenos Ausentes.
Guillermo Rolon is survived by his children Luisa and Jose and their respective spouses Carmelo Diaz and Ivonne Rolon.
Don Guillermo has an incredible legacy reflected in the faces of his grandchildren and their spouses: Nestor I. Melendez and Lillian Vidal, Leslie A. and Elliot Vazquez, Lisa I. Melendez and Isaac Rivera, Joseph C. Rolon and Mariana Silfa, Mercedes Bayon, Franklin R. and Christin Martinez, and Mark A. Rolon and fiancee Rebecca Biscotti.
His grandchildren would bring further blessings to him in the form of his great-grandchildren: Kenneth E. Vazquez, Aaron J. Vazquez, Joie C. Rolon, Olivia P. Rivera, Leah E. Vazquez, Brooklyn Melendez, Reia F. Martinez, and most recently Anaia H. Martinez.
In a time when too many fathers disappear or remain absent from their families, Guillermo Rolon serves as an example of the steadfast and earnest love that a man can deliver to his loved ones. Whether dispensing sage advice, critical feedback, singing a “Le-Lo-Lai” during a paranda, jugando dominos or simply sitting back and watching his favorite NY Yankees play ball, he was a father for every generation and a role model for how to live a long and fruitful life. A proud and noble man, Guillermo will be missed but never forgotten. Not - How did he die? But - How did he live? Not - What did he gain? But - What did he give? These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth. Not - What was his station? But - had he a heart? And - How did he play his God-given part? Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer? To bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not - What was his church? Not - What was his creed? But - Had he befriended those really in need? Not - What did the sketch in the newspaper say? But - How many were sorry when he passed away? These are the things that measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth. The Measure of a Man - Anonymous Tu ausencia llena mis ojos de lagrimas y aflige mi corazon,
Mientras que tu recuerdo llena todo mi ser de una gran satisfaccion. Ese luz que ahora desprendes, sera la guia en mi vida Unknown by Unknown
