Roger Charles McCormick - March 17, 1933 - January 20, 2021

Departed: 01/20/2021 (Cuyahoga Falls)
Obituary Preview: Roger Charles McCormick, age 87, of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
Anyone who knew Roger knew that he was born on St Paddy’s Day and that he grew up in a funeral home. These were two of his favorite stories to tell. He was a lifelong resident of Akron and a 1951 graduate of Buchtel High School; the yearbook states Roger “drives a hearse to school.” Roger joined the Air Force (to stay out of the Army) in 1953 serving a year in Korea before his honorable discharge in 1957. He ran his own service station for over 15 years - Market and Miller Mobil in Fairlawn, then was hired by the Summit County Engineer’s Office where he worked for another 20 years before finally retiring in 1998.  Retirement treated Roger well - he enjoyed caring for his husky Glacier, growing vegetables, the never-ending task of renovating his home, and his Thursday night “men’s club.” He particularly enjoyed his regular outings to Molly Brown’s in Cuyahoga Falls and going for long drives in his Ford truck or his 1990 Mustang. He spent his last months at the Atrium at Anna Maria in Aurora where he received loving care. Taking great pride in helping to raise five children, Roger was known to brag to anyone who would listen about the accomplishments of his kids and their spouses, his grandkids and his great grands. He will be missed by many.
Roger was born March 17, 1933 in Akron, son of the late Halsey and Alice (nee Neselroad) McCormick.
Cherished father of Kathy (Al) Cline, Tim (Deb) McCormick, Carol (Danny) Wicks, Karen McCormick, and Tari (John) Bergoine; loving grandfather of 19; loving great grandfather of 18 (almost 19); treasured brother of John McCormick and the late Gwynn Lindsey; dear uncle of many. Roger is also survived by the mother of his children, Nancy McCormick.
A private family service is planned.

Walter was a graduate of North High School (1945). He served in the United States Army during World War II in Germany. He was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and Temple Israel.
Walter’s love of God and love of music led him to a life of music ministry in many churches throughout the area as choir director. He shared his gift of music as a soloist and singer in many local choruses and choirs, often accompanied by his son or daughter.
He was Director Emeritus of the Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus where he sang and directed for many years.
Walter was a long-time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he previously served as choir director, was a member of Brown Baggers, volunteer at Feed My Sheep free meal program, and was involved in many church activities/functions. While proud of his own Scottish heritage, Walt embraced Nan’s Welsh heritage and, as such, served as National President of the Women’s Welsh Clubs of America. He led the expansion and renovation of the Welsh Home for the Aged in Rocky River, Ohio.
Walt enjoyed most sports, but golf was his favorite. He golfed in leagues and with friends until he was 90 years of age. He would fish from sunrise to sunset while vacationing with his daughter’s family at their cottage on Georgian Bay, always with a PopTart in his back pocket. He didn’t care if he caught a fish or not. He loved his family, time spent with family, and was so proud of their accomplishments.

Linda A. King - December 29, 1960 - December 24, 2020

Departed: 12/24/2020 (Cuyahoga Falls)
Obituary Preview: Linda A. King, 59, was born December 29, 1960 and passed away December 24, 2020. Preceded in death by father, William Sentgeorge; survived by husband, Jack; daughter, Karen S. (Kristofer) Anderson; sons, Brian (Renee Heldman) McMurray, Patrick (Jackie Thomas) McMurray; grandchildren, Caitlin Rose Anderson and Dylan Anderson; mother, Glenna Sentgeorge; brothers, Paul R. (Cynthia Klingemier) Sentgeorge, Timothy L. (Marla) Sentgeorge; step-daughters, Brenda M. (Amy) Cooper, Laura J. (Jason) Pierson; 6 step-grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Linda had so many wonderful qualities it is hard to know where to start.
She always considered herself a country girl...meaning she knew the difference between a chipmunk and a squirrel, etc. She could spot a deer off road half a mile away. She once spotted a mountain goat so far away I needed binoculars to find it.
Linda was a meticulous planner. She arranged our vacations with a precision that travel agents coveted.
She organized vacations to all but five of the United States. We visited over 330 lighthouses on the east coast, west coast and north coast. That was possible because she researched the exact location of each.
And Linda never met a stranger, anywhere.
She earned a living with Allstate Insurance of Hudson Ohio. Ask anyone who knew her at Allstate, you will hear that Linda was a breath of fresh air, a shining light.
She was always thinking about her children and grandchildren. During the two years of her battle with cancer, I know her most cherished times were when she was with her children and grandchildren.
She treated my children and grandchildren as closely as she knew how as if they were her own.
The second of my granddaughters, Evelyn (6 yrs old), asked that she be allowed to see Linda’s casket lowered into the grave. She was.
She is now with the Lord Jesus’ eternal church and served the Northwest Ave. Church of Christ while still among us. We all loved Linda very much.
A memorial service for family and church family will be held at 2:00 p.m. on FRIDAY, January 15, 2021 at Northwest Avenue Church of Christ, 737 Northwest Ave., Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Pastor Scott Baker and Rev. Cynthia Klingemier officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Billow Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/BillowFuneralHomes/. Private family burial was held at Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle, PA. Services in care of The Billow Funeral Homes and Crematory Falls Chapel 1907 23rd Street  Cuyahoga Falls, OH  44223

Phoebe L Gero - February 16, 1917 - July 09, 2020

Departed: 07/09/2020 (Cuyahoga Falls)
Obituary Preview: Hudson, Ohio - Phoebe L. Gero died on July 9, 2020 at the age of 103.  She was born in Manhattan, New York on February 6, 1917.
Phoebe was a World War II veteran and served in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps.  She met her husband Woodrow through her sister Ruth, who married Woody's brother, Richard after the war.  Phoebe and Woody married on March 25, 1950.  In 1953, they moved to Munroe Falls Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where they raised their four children.  After the death of Woody on June 11, 2002, Phoebe continued to maintain her residence in Cuyahoga Falls while helping to raise her grandchildren.  For four years, when her daughter's family was transferred to Toronto, Canada, she also lived with them on and off.
Phoebe was an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ for more than 60 years, including listening to the broadcasts of the church services during the coronavirus pandemic.  She also worked to package food for needy families in the Good Neighbors program.  Having lived through the Great Depression, she was especially concerned for children who didn't have enough to eat.  Often, she would secretly pack extra food for families that she knew had young children.  Her acts of kindness, generosity, and love set an example for all who met her.  She had an adventurous spirit, a curious nature, and a contagious laugh.  She loved everybody, and all who came in contact with her have stories to share.  We have been blessed with many wonderful memories, and are thankful for her life.
Phoebe was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by her children, David (Havi Echenberg), Thomas (Jennifer), Susan (Gary) Hickerson, Diane (Jim) Nielsen; eight grandchildren, Mark, Adam, Corey, Alex, Laurie, Jacob, Molly, Phoebe; and one great-grandson, Gunnar.
