Jane Carver Bumpass Dixon - May 25, 1942 - April 13, 2024

Departed: 04/13/2024 (Duluth)
Obituary Preview: Jane Carver Bumpass Dixon, of Duluth, Ga., passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She is survived by her son Jonathan and his wife Allison of Decatur; her son Alan and his wife Elizabeth, and their children Henry and Hollis Dixon, of Duluth; her brother Robert Daniel (Danny) Bumpass Jr. and his wife Gloria of Roxboro, N.C.; and her nieces Courtney Bolen and Brock Bumpass of Raleigh N.C. Extended family also includes Dee Dee Davis, Dave and Anita Germaneso and Matt and Suzanne Dolan and their children Eliza, Charles and James.
The daughter of Robert Daniel (RD) Bumpass Sr. and Jane Carver Bumpass, Jane Carver was born on May 25, 1942, and had an idyllic childhood that forever connected her to the people and places of Roxboro, N.C. It was there in her formative years where she attended Long Memorial Methodist Church with her mother and established lifelong relationships with her many peers, including those especially close classmates from the class of 1960 she referred to as her “sistahs.” Her deep connection with this group was the basis of many of the best times in her life, and she cherished each and every one of them.
After high school Jane began classes at Meredith College where she earned a degree in sociology. Upon graduation, she moved to Atlanta in 1964 and accepted a role working for Eastern Airlines. She met and married Archie Dave Dixon (deceased) from Oak Ridge, Tenn. and welcomed two incredibly amazing children, Jonathan and Alan Dixon. Prior to Alan’s birth, Jane and family moved from East Point to Duluth, Ga., a location she loved as much as Roxboro and where she lived for the rest of her life.
Her devotion to God was ever present as she worshipped at several churches during her adult life. One of the many highlights being the 20 years she spent as a youth counselor at Duluth United Methodist Church. Her career path post Eastern Airlines included opening her own needlepoint business “The Happy Sticher” in Downtown Duluth and eventually working for the family run Parson’s Department  store in Cumming, Ga., where she once again made lifelong friendships.
She lived an amazing life full of fun family traditions and times well spent with friends. She loved to travel with many trips across the U.S and visits to distant locations, including France, Italy, Japan, Egypt and Israel. In addition to travel, her favorite activities included working on her latest needlepoint project, siting on her back porch (famously referred to as “the veranda”) and reading the latest edition of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution or her hometown newspaper, the Courier Times.
Her church membership at the time of her passing was with The Fountain.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Bill Head Funeral Home 3088 Duluth Hwy, Duluth, Ga., 30096. The visitation will take place Thursday, April 18 from 6-8 p.m., with a memorial service on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. There will be another service in Roxboro N.C., details to be determined. All who knew her are welcome.

June Davis Wilson - March 17, 1946 - February 24, 2024

Departed: 02/24/2024 (Duluth)
Obituary Preview: June Davis Wilson, surrounded by her family, went home to be with her loving Savior on Saturday , February 24, 2024.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday February 29th, at 11am at the chapel at Perimeter Church.  Please enter off the Medlock Bridge Road entrance.
June was a lifelong native of Duluth, Georgia. She was born in Duluth to Coleman Lee and Evelyn Moore Davis. She attended Duluth High school and was on the Homecoming Court. She married another Duluth native, Donald “Skip” Wilson III. They had two children, Donald and Amy, and she was a wonderful mother to them both. Later, when Donald and Amy had children, she became a wonderful grandmother as well.
June was a very caring and unselfish person, putting the needs of her family and friends above her own. She went to nursing school at night and became a labor and delivery nurse. Her loving heart made her an exceptional nurse. She loved it, and over her 25-year career, she welcomed countless new babies into the world with her smiling face.
When June’s husband, Skip, became sick with cancer in 2000, she loved and cared for him until he passed. She was a loving daughter and took great care of her Mother during her later years. Years later, she married Jon Christensen and was a loving wife to him until his passing.
After she retired from nursing, June was able to spend even more time with her family and friends. She was active in Bible studies at her church, loved attending DOLS (Duluth Old Ladies Society), Stitch In, and the many activities of her grandkids.
In 2006, June was herself diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The prognosis at the time was that she only had a few years to live. But June was a fighter. Thanks to God’s grace, June’s fierce passion for life, and wonderful care from her doctors, family, & friends, she beat the odds again and again. June endured tremendous pain and suffering over those many years. She bravely endured, never complaining, and was strengthened by her faith to the end. June’s will never gave in, although her body succumbed to the long fight on February 24th. On that day, her faith became sight as she was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus. We will miss her greatly, but we are comforted to know that we will see her again one day in heaven.
June is survived by her son, Don Wilson (Stephanie) of Tucker; daughter, Amy Davis (Hinton) of Duluth; grandchildren, Ansley, Trey, Genna Grace, Austin, Lindsey and Blake; brothers, Rick Davis (Sharon) of Dawsonville, Ken Davis (Angie) of Woodstock and Ted Davis (Terry) of Duluth.

Wilbur Clinton Brooks - April 09, 1927 - January 29, 2024

Departed: 01/29/2024 (Duluth)
Obituary Preview: Wilbur Clinton Brooks of Duluth, Georgia passed away Monday, January 29, 2024. Wilbur was well-known locally and widely regarded as a poet, teacher, philosopher, and occasional comedian. His love of life and passion for sharing it with those around him was expressed in poetry, singing, friendly ribbings, and philosophical debates. He loved traveling, Georgia
football, and civic participation. Born in Elberton, Georgia in April of 1927, Wilbur was the youngest son of Joseph and Rentie Brooks. His mother was a celebrated teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. His father was a hardworking man of many trades who pulled the family through hard times in rural Georgia
during the Great Depression. After high school, Wilbur briefly attended Georgia Tech - where he has lightheartedly recounted being told that maybe college wasn’t the best place for a “distracted” young man. He changed
course and eventually enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from May of 1945 to July of 1946. Wilbur’s choice to serve followed in the footsteps of his older brothers, Joseph Theodric “Theo”
Brooks, Jr., and John “John Mac” Brooks. With the end of World War II, he eventually found his way to attending University of Georgia,
where he first graduated with an undergraduate degree and later went on to earn a law degree. After university, he worked with Crawford and Company as an office manager and insurance
adjuster. During this period, he met Vivian Maxwell and started a family. Wilbur eventually moved his family to Atlanta, joining a local firm as an associate and staying for several decades until
eventually retiring as a full partner at Chambers, Mabry, McClelland, and Brooks. His legal skills were well documented. A fellow attorney once noted that you wouldn’t like to face Wilbur in a courtroom, as the man was always prepared and presented exceptionally strong
arguments for his clients. In his spare time, he was a longtime member of the Druid Hills Golf Club, an active participant in the Sugarloaf Shuffler Society, and a regular attendee of friendly breakfasts at Family
Restaurant in Duluth. He was also a devout Christian, Deacon Emeritus, and beloved congregant at First Baptist
Duluth. Wilbur Brooks is survived by his son, Clint Brooks, daughter-in-law, Wendy Brooks, and grandsons, Scott Krumpe and Jeremy Brooks. He is preceded in death by wife Vivian Brooks,
daughter Margaret “Peggy” Krumpe, and son, Theo Brooks.

Gil's culinary expertise took him to Asheville, North Carolina, where he resided for several years, immersing himself in the vibrant food culture of the region.
In recent years, Gil returned to Norcross to be near his parents, Martha and Offie, as they faced health challenges. His selflessness and commitment to his parents reflected the deep bonds that defined his character.
