Carl took pride in being a hard worker. Carl learned the ropes of maintenance from his dad when he was young. He received his electrical training at Russellville High Vocational School and specialized refrigeration training during his career. He became an expert at repairing almost anything. He started his career at Colburn Vending Company in Russellville, KY, moving to Lexington in 1981 to work at Cardinal Vending Company. Carl liked spending time outdoors, particularly his love for hunting and fishing alongside his family and friends. He enjoyed small game and deer hunting. He spent years training Brittany Spaniels and Beagles, and had many dogs as pets throughout his life.
Carl's heart belonged to bass fishing. He was a former member of the Jessamine County Bass Club and participated in tournaments at Herrington Lake. Carl always made time for what mattered most – his family. Many weekends were spent on the lake with his son fishing.
In addition to his love for the outdoors, Carl was a supporter of his children's athletic events. Whether it was a soccer match or basketball game, he was always there, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm.
Carl leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Carol. Also surviving are his children and their spouses, John (Kristin), Laura (Tiffany), and his grandson, Christian. Garnett “Andy” Hager - December 12, 1954 - March 21, 2024

Departed: 03/21/2024 (Nicholasville)
Obituary Preview: Garnett Anderson (Andy) Hager passed away surrounded by his loved ones on March 21, 2024.
He was born on December 12, 1954, in Lexington Kentucky to the late Garnett "Rhodie" Hager and Alice Williams Hager.
Andy had an extensive railroad career over the years. He was president of Jessamine Construction Co., working alongside his father and later his two sons. At the end of his career, he offered his expertise to Road and Rail Services, sharing his skills and knowledge with many young railroaders before retiring from the railroad industry altogether.
He married his Jessamine County High School sweetheart, Brenda Kay Hall, in 1974. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 1st. They raised their family and made their home in Jessamine County. He retired to a cabin in the woods where he spent his days with his wife and time playing with grandchildren teaching them many trades. In his younger years, he played the drums. His love for rock and roll music carried on throughout his life. He had a hobby of splitting firewood and wood-burning stoves, serving others, and making people laugh. He forged friendships with many, near and far, on and off the railroad. His door and heart were open to anyone he met along the way. He grew a beard that made him famous and played the best “Santa Pops” for his grandchildren every Christmas. He had an undeniable bond with each of his children, their spouses, and all of his grandchildren. He was a loving brother, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and mentor to many. He was honest and giving as the day was long. He was a simple man with deep-rooted values in Christ and family. His sense of humor, honesty, quick wit, and wisdom was unparalleled. He will be loved and remembered forever.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The task of writing an obituary usually falls to the family members or close friends of the deceased. Funeral homes or online obituary platforms may also offer assistance in writing and publishing obituaries.

What information should be included in an obituary?

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and deadlines. Be prepared to provide the necessary information and payment for publication.

What is the difference between a death notice and an obituary?
