Obituary Preview: Mother Eloyse Bentley-Lockhart, 83, Funeral Director / Embalmer / Business Owner of Cordele, Georgia went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in  her residence surrounded by family in Perry, Georgia.
She was a proud Funeral Director / 2 time mortician of the year / Embalmer / CEO, and Owner of The New Bentley-Carson Memorial Funeral Home of Cordele and Crisp County, Georgia. She was also the co-owner of Bentley's Funeral Home of Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia.  She was a past Board Of Education Member of Crisp County and Past Worthy Matron and life member of Garden Valley Chapter No. 40 OES of Garden Valley,Ga.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Noon in the Sanctuary of White-Hill Baptist Church of Reynolds, Georgia. The burial will follow in the Bentley-Carson Cemetery off of Hwy 128.
Mother Eloyse A. Bentley Lockhart, the beautiful and talented daughter of the late Mr. Johnnie Enoch and Mrs. Ida Bentley, was born June 22,1933 in Reynolds, GA. She attended school in Taylor County, GA, and at a very early age, was baptized and joined the White Hill Baptist Church where her Grandfather was founder.
She was a graduate of Paine College of Augusta, Georgia where she obtained a Registered Nurse degree. She was a vivacious and ambitious young lady who pursued a career as a Registered Nurse and worked many years in Newark, New Jersey and in Augusta, GA.
While in Augusta, she met and married Clinton Perry, Sr. and to their union four children was born: Clinton “Tony”, Rosalind "Elaine", Eloyse “Shug”, and Jonathan “JB.” Eloyse moved to Reynolds, GA near her Mother and Father and was inspired by her Father to pursue a career in funeral service. In a male dominated business, she became the first and only woman in the family to own and operate her own funeral home. Which lead her to attending Gupton-Jones Mortuary of Science, graduating top of her class, with the highest honors. She served as a member of the GFSPA as head of the critique committee of the entire state. She also served as secretary of 3rd District GFSPA. She later met and married the love of her life, Mr. Abraham Lockhart,who owned and operated his own vault business and pulp wood business.
She was a proud Funeral Director and two-time Mortician of the Year, Embalmer, Chief Executive Officer, and Owner of The New Bentley-Carson Funeral Home of Cordele and Crisp County, GA since 1990. She was also the co-owner of Bentley’s Funeral Home of Reynolds, GA, in partnership with her brother, Willie James Bentley. She was a past Crisp County Board of Education member and past Worthy Matron and life member of Garden Valley Chapter No. 40 OES of Garden Valley, GA. On Sunday, October 2, 2016, The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called his faithful servant of the ministry home, while surrounded by family at her residence.  Family & Friends

Hicks, Detroit MI; two brothers, Johnny Bentley, Jr., Thomaston, GA and Willie James (Betty) Bentley, Reynolds, GA;a host of nieces and nephews she adored and who adored her; special friends Mrs. Ruby Adams, Talbotton, GA, Mrs. Marilyn Humbles, Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Velma Brown and Mrs. Sharon Jones of Columbus, GA, her employees and staff of Bentley-Carson Funeral Home, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mother Lockhart will be laid instate on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 10am-5pm in the Chapel of The New Bentley-Carson Memorial Funeral Home of Cordele, Georgia. She then will be laid instate that evening from 7pm-10pm for all Friends, Funeral Directors, Morticians, and Colleagues at the New Light International Outreach of Cordele, Georgia.
Mother Lockhart will be laid instate on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 10am-7pm in the Bentley's Funeral Home of Reynolds, Georgia.
