Obituary Preview: Nancy Claypool Teare, age 84, of Madison, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Cardinal Woods Nursing Home. She was born June 17, 1937 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late John and Julia Bejus. She married James Raymond Teare in Madison in 1994.
Nancy was a member of Park Street United Methodist Church for many years. She worked at JC Penney for 10 years, before retiring in 2001. She was a past president of the Madison Historical Society. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband, James and tending to her garden.
She is survived by her husband, James Teare; sons, Charles (Maria) Claypool and Michael (Kim) Claypool; step-children, David (Rocci) Teare, Jeffrey Teare, Michael (Anne) Teare and Ellen (Mike) Foster; grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Jeremy, Nichole, Adam and Holly; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Corinne, Brennan, Emma, Joey, Henry and Jack; great-grandchildren, Blake, Tristan and Asher; son-in-law, Mark Gilleski.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Olen Claypool; daughter, Elizabeth Claypool-Gilleski; her parents; step-sister, Geraldine.
Friends will be received 4-7 pm Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Behm Family Home, 26 River St. in Madison. Memorial Service will be 11 am Friday, December 8, 2021 at the funeral home with Graveside Committal to take place at Fairview Cemetery in Madison Village.

Obituary Preview: Alexander McLain Hynd II, age 68 passed away December 4, 2021 after a 30 year battle with ALS. He was born September 13, 1953 in Painesville to Alexander and Nancy (Andrews) Hynd I.
Alex enjoyed music and was an accomplished singer, songwriter and founder of the Maxwell Buggsy Band. He was very proud of his Army career. He also enjoyed wrestling and enjoyed coaching and giving back to the community. He worked as an occupational therapist assistant for the adolescent program at Ridgecliff Hospital.
Alex leaves behind his wife, Shirley of 49 years; children, Michelle Sellers, Alexander McLain Hynd III, Mark (Angela) Hynd; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Meranda, Bryer, Mallory, Addison, Scarlet, Ashton and Braylon; sisters, Sandra (George) Jansson, Linda (Gary) Komaromy; brothers, Russell (Anita) Hynd, Michael (Patty) Hynd and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Hynd and brother, Robert Hynd.
Friends will be received, 3-6 pm Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison with a service to take place at 11 am Monday December 13, 2021 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery.

James W. Simmons Sr. - June 02, 1949 - December 03, 2021

Obituary Preview: James W. Simmons, Sr., 72, of Perry, went home to be with his Lord, Friday evening, December 3, 2021. He was born to Bonny and Mayme (Davis) Simmons on June 2, 1949.
Jim was loving husband to his wife, Donna, of 34 years; father of James (Kathy) Simmons, Jr., Heather (John) Veller, Christopher (Vanessa) Meredith; grandfather of Joseph and Isabella Russo, and Willow Meredith; brother to Donna (Larry) Nowak, Susan (Wes) Fairchaild, and Tina Simmons. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim graduated from Perry High School, Class of 1967. He worked as a custodian at Perry Local Schools for 30 years. He managed the Perry Youth Pony and Little Leagues in the late 1970’s and early ‘80’s, as well as the Christian Gospel Softball League for over 20 years. He and his wife, Donna, ran the AWANA program at their church for more than 25 years. In addition, he taught Sunday School classes for over 50 years. Jim worked constantly, even in retirement. His retirement hobby—greatest past-time—raising over 2000 varieties of daylilies at his home. He was a humble servant and a man of Faith, and surely present with our Lord and Saviour.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 10am -12pm at Calvary Fellowship Baptist Church, 757 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Funeral service will follow at 12pm. Final resting place will be Perry Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Norma J. Starkey, age 95 of Thompson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, December 3, 2021 at UH Geauga Medical Center in Chardon. Born on April 17, 1926 in Painesville, she was the daughter of the late Iva Grace (Behm) & Lewis Chaffe. She married William Starkey on July 1, 1950. She was a 1944 graduate of Thompson High School and attended college at Baldwin Wallace.
Norma was a lifelong Thompson resident and member of Thompson United Methodist Church where she was the volunteer organist for over fifty years, retiring on December 24, 2016 at the age of 90. She Enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and traveling. She was a loyal and devoted supporter of Ledgemont Schools making scrubbies as a fundraiser for many years. She was also a Former accounting clerk at UniRoyal where she met Bill and was also a teller at Huntington Bank.
Most of all Norma loved spending time with her family. Following the loss of her husband, Bill, she continued to travel to Florida with her family. She always hated to see each family leave. She was also an advocate for her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren’s activities as she attended many sporting events, concerts, graduations, and horse shows. She also loved the Great Geauga County Fair. She was always on the go with a big smile on her face.
She is survived by her daughters: Laura Schwarz of Painesville, Karen (Ted) Ogle of Madison; sons: William (Roberta) R. Starkey of Independence, Michael (Cheri Davies) R. Starkey of Mentor; grandchildren: Andrea (Todd) Bush, Erik (Michelle) Siska, Michelle (Jay) Richmond , Michael (Monica Byram) Starkey II, Sarah (Matt) Bott, Rebecca (Jason) Bratton, Ashley (Brian Sferra) Warmington, Kelley (Timmy) Herman, and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Sister in law Eleanor Chaffe.
Norma was Preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Starkey, sisters: Muriel A. Moseley of Thompson, Iva June Olds of Madison, brothers: Stuart Chaffe of Cedarville Ohio, Richard B. Chaffe of Painesville, brother in law: Charles Moseley, sister in law: Alberta Chaffe.

He was a jack of all trades and his motto was “have duct tape-will travel” and “broken campers are us”. He tried to fix everything and was the original “hold my beer, I’m going to give this a shot”- type of guy!

She leaves behind her daughter Becky (Lucas) Monasky; son, Rusty (Devan) Brumbaugh; brother, Donald Moore; sisters, Cathy (Frank) Rogers and Connie McCann; and former spouse and lifetime companion Greg Brumbaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna was a loving wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend. She was a participant in her children’s activities such as being a Lake County 4H group advisor and Leroy Softball coach. She regularly attended Riverside High School football games where her children participated in the Riverside Regiment.
She spent many years playing co-ed softball and was a regular 5K race participant. She enjoyed watching Browns and Indians games, four wheeling in the hills of West Virginia and having a beverage on the veranda.
Donna worked for the Madison Local Schools as an assistant to the treasurer. She was a member of the Riverside High School class of 1982 and a proud graduate later in life from Lakeland Community College.

Arthur J. Zentgraf Sr. - April 29, 1925 - November 30, 2021

Zentgraf, Sr., age 96, a long-time resident of Perry and recently of Mentor, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at The Enclave of Newell Creek, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 29, 1925 in Newburgh Heights, Ohio to Minnie C. (Knaack) and Arthur C. Zentgraf. He married Mercedes Elizabeth “Mickey” Konrad in Parma, on October 26, 1968 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Arthur served his country in WWII aboard the USS LST-908 in 1943-1946 in the Pacific as a Signalman Rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer with 6 major Invasions. He graduated as an Accounting Major from Fenn College (presently Cleveland State). He retired in 1993 as Vice President of Finance of Linderme Tube Co.
He was a member of Cornerstone Friends Church in Madison since 2000 and previously of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison from 1979-2000, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Parma from 1968-1979. He served in many different aspects while attending these churches, including serving on the Design Team and Usher/Greeter Team at Cornerstone and sang in choirs of several of them. At Holy Cross Church, he served as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary as well as an Elder and on other boards.
Arthur served as President of Kiwanis Club of Perry, volunteer for Red Cross Bloodmobile in Madison, member of the Perry Township Zoning Board, and member of the Perry Economic Development Board. He also sang in the Perry Community Choir. He was a member of the National U.S. Navy, LST Association, member of Ohio LST/Amphibious Association, and member of the USS LST Ship Memorial Association.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Mercedes E. Zentgraf; son, Arthur J. (Monique) Zentgraf; daughters, Susan M. Simon, Cynthia A. (Dan) Lintz, Jacquelyn A. Bovinet; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; step-sister, Dorothy Frank; and step-sister-in-law, Betty Lessick. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Anne Gerber and Theresa Fiorello; step-brother, George Lessick; and step-sister, Rosemarie Johnston.
Friends will be received 4:00-7:00 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Cornerstone Friends Church, 2300 Hubbard Rd., Madison, Ohio. Linda loved Western American History and Native American History. She had a dream to live out West like the olden days with no electricity and lots of land for Buffalo. Her hobbies included: yardwork looking up history online and old houses. She liked to go hiking and be outside but most of all she loved to take care of her children; they were the most important part of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Thomas Lasko) Robinson, and Nelena Rodriguez; partner, Nelson Rodriguez; sons, Dakota Rodriguez and Randal Robinson, granddaughter, McKaylee Lasko; sisters, Nancy Burris, and Donna Wandel; brother, Michael Rivera; nieces Rowan and Cyerra Wandel and Amanda Kepes; nephew, Bobby Kepes; and dog and best friend Peaches and little cat (ferret-devil) Cody. She is preceded in death by her loving foster parents who raised her as their own, Joseph and Corrinne Allen; sister, Barb (Bill) Bietel; cats, Patches and Mufasa.

William Harold Crawford - March 08, 1944 - November 26, 2021

Obituary Preview: William Harold Crawford, husband, father, and friend, 77, of Madison Village, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights with his family at his side. He was born in Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on March 8, 1944, the son of Harry and Eileen (Massey) Crawford. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Linda Gail Pedala, on June 12, 1971, in Gates Mills. For those who knew him, they will miss his charm, his rogueish sense humor, and his unwavvering dedication to his family.
William lived a life full of adventures and was eager to share his stories and experiences with his four children and five grandchilden. As a young man, William proudly served in the US 7th Army in Germany as a member of a long range reconnaissance patrol unit near the Czechoslavkian border. After leaving the service, William spent several years working on the Alaskan oil pipeline, coming home for every holiday to spend it with his young wife and family. In recent years, William owned and operated his own construction business, but he was happiest when he was spending time with his loving wife and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Sean (Maria), Meghan, Moira, Conor; five grandchildren, Francesca, Elena, William, Tennant, Harrison; and his mother, Eileen and six siblings. He dedicated his life to his family and they will sorely miss him.
His heart was broken by the passing of his wife of 50 years, Linda, 77 days earlier. After spending their first Thanksgiving apart in 51 years, he has been reunitied with her in God’s garden for all eternity. He was also preceeded in death by his father Harry.

Obituary Preview: Anne K. Lasko (nee Sabo), 87, passed away Thursday, November 25th, 2021, at Concord Village Skilled Nursing & Rehab facility in Concord, Ohio. She was born July 30, 1934, to the late Joseph and Ann Sabo and widow to her husband, Harold Lasko.
Anne was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Church and attended Cleveland State University after graduating from Madison High School in 1951. Her career included several years as a bank teller, over twenty years working for Madison schools in the cafeteria, and many years working at the Madison Country Club. Anne was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary as well as a member of the Fraternity of Eagles. Her favorite pastimes were traveling, needle work (she made many beautiful doilies), going to casinos, and being a sports fan of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children: Philip Lasko, Allan Lasko, Thomas (Nancy) Lasko, Cathy Lasko, and Valerie Lasko as well as eight grandchildren: Audra, Tommy, Nick, Jarrad, Mary, Joseph, Jessica, and Christopher and seven great-grandchildren: Rylan, Kaelyn, Brayden, Aidan, McKaylee, Aubrey, and Hunter.

Obituary Preview: Betty Lou Sanzenbacher, age 97, passed away November 24, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1924 in Warren, OH to Ross E. Wilson and Ruth (Taylor) Wilson.
Betty was a graduate of Howland High School and Kent State University, 1946. She maintained the fondest of memories and friends from her co-op years (when there was a shortage of on-campus housing) during World War II. Betty worked for 15 years as an English Teacher at Leavittsburg and Howland Jr. High School. She attended Howland Community Church, where she served as a deaconess. She was a staunch believer in volunteering, giving her time to many organizations, including Girl Scouts, Howland Community Church, and Warren General Hospital. In later years, she was her husband’s “sight”, quietly supporting his endeavors so he could continue life, though blind. Eventually, she too, would lose her sight. Betty enjoyed tutoring, babysitting and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherie L. (Ritch Kovacic) Sanzenbacher, Elaine K. (Garry) Cunningham, Jill A. (Mike) McGoff; grandchildren, Jacob and Mallory McGoff, Heidi (Chris) Frankowski, Abey (Michael) Overholt, and Jeff Francisco; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Olivia Frankowski, and Johnny Francisco. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Glen; her parents; and sister, Arlene Kepner.
Per Betty’s wishes and family covid concerns, there will be no public services.

Gabriel "Gabe" John Paul, age 18, senior at Madison High School, passed away from an epileptic seizure in his sleep on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born on October 6, 2003 in Geauga County, he was the son of John and DeeDee (Duffy) Paul.
Gabe was well loved by his family and friends. He was a member of the National Honors Society, ran Cross Country and was a pole vaulter on the track team. Gabe was truly a gentleman farmer, raising chickens and pigs while participating in 4-H “Little Porkers of Geauga County.” A huge fan of country music, he loved all the country classics. He was an avid downhill snow skier. His true passion was racing his four wheeler in the AWRCS Racing Series. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed spending time in the garage.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and DeeDee; grandparents, Ron and Joanne Paul; several aunts and uncles, Kathy and Dan Stenger, Kim and Joseph Kerns, Ron and Debi Paul, Drs. Daniel and Deborah Duffy, Dr. Cecilia A. Duffy, and Deb and Raymond Bell along with many cousins, close friends and his AWRCS family. Gabe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. Daniel and Cecilia Duffy.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Cornerstone Friends Church, 2300 Hubbard Road in Madison. Ron leaves behind his children, Paul (Kimberly) Nelson, John Nelson, Leeann (Tom) Bibby, Peter (Tina) Nelson, Sarah (Stefan) Rosellini, Malcolm Phillips; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Linda (Ray) Karosas, Walter (Kathy) Nelson, Kathy (Bill) Hotchkiss, Beverly Brown, Jeff Nelson, Judy (John) Doebereiner, and Denise Nelson; loving companion, Rhonda Nelson; life long friend, Patti Carlton; and many loved nieces and nephews and extended family.
Ron was a Christian, a dedicated family man and an incredibly hard worker. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
A short service with light refreshments celebrating his life will be on Friday at Eagleville Bible Church 1981 State Route 45 Rock Creek, Ohio from 6-8pm. All are welcome to come and share our happy memories at this time.

Obituary Preview: Tamara Gail Bobst, age 53, passed away November 21, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born October 17, 1968 to Wallace and Kathleen (Dalton) Stanley. She grew up in southern Ohio, fell in love, got married and moved to Northeast Ohio where she had a loving family and surrounded herself with as much Love and support as Possible! Tamara had many jobs over the years including working at Crispy Cream Donuts, BP Gas station, Holiday Pizza, and even had small businesses and was also a happy homemaker. She changed hobbies like she changed her clothes! She loved trying new things from art projects to make up, jewelry and essential oils, from watching movies to driving around and from campfires to cookouts. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones; that was her favorite activity!
She had so many family and friends. To say Tammy was loved would be an understatement. She collected loved ones like she collected hobbies and craft ideas! She could turn anyone she met into a lifelong friend. Tamara did everything within her power to show those who struggled to love themselves or who felt unloved by others, that they deserved love and support and to be proud of who they are or who they wanted to be.
When she developed breast cancer, she fought every day with such joy and positivity! The love and support that surrounded her was the strength she needed to keep fighting until her final days. Tammy said: “You all have one year to grieve over me and after that you move on with your lives or I’m coming back to haunt you!”
Tamara leaves behind her husband, Dan of 34 years; daughters, Jamie Greene and Rebeca Bobst; grandson, Jeremy Sidebottom, and several adopted children. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She loved sewing, quilting, and enjoying outdoor activities with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Edward (Katherine) Kuhn; granddaughter, Lindsay (Eric) Heidenreich; grandson, Brian (Allie Vandrak) Kuhn; great-granddaughter, Elise Heidenreich; step-son, John B. Kuhn, and sister, Shirley (George) Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kuhn; her parents; siblings, Charles Becker, John Warren, and Lee Warren: and stepson, Robert Hensel.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Madison. Behm Family Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Burr Cooper, Sr. and Dorothy (Pease) Cooper. He married Nancy Linton in Wickliffe on March 9, 1968. Born during the depression a drawer became his crib. Judd went on to serve his country in the Korean War with an honorable discharge. He had a Bachelor's degree in Education from Ohio University, where he also played hockey. Later, he became an electrician and was a loyal union member of Local #38 for 59 years. Though a true fan of all Cleveland sports teams, his heart beat for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes and he rarely missed a game. He attended his first Browns game at the age of 14 after hitchhiking both ways! His parents never found out about that one!
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy; nephews, Curt Niebes, Ron (Marie) Niebes and their sons, Kevin and Nick, Chris (Julie) Niebes and their twins, Haley and Jake; “Loving son”, Flake (Sue) Vannoy (son, Gage). He was preceded in death by his cherished sons, Jason and Tyler; his parents; and sister, Phyllis Niebes.
Services are being planned for a future date, celebrated with Pastor Kelly Irish.
Final resting Place will be the Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
