Maybelle was born May 9, 1933, in Lyndon Center, Vermont, daughter of the late Leon and Doris (Lang) Hopkins. She graduated from Lyndon Institute in Lyndon Center in 1951, then received her Registered Nursing degree from Laconia Hospital School of Nursing in Laconia, NH. On April 4, 1959, she married John Shannon in Lyndon Center. They moved to Brewster, NY in 1969. Maybelle worked at Danbury Hospital as an RN for ten years, then she worked as an office manager for Preferred Health Care in Danbury. Maybelle was predeceased by her husband John in 2008. She is survived by her daughters Lynne Bonavenia and her husband Angelo of Pawling, NY and Brenda Clemente and her husband George of Pawling, NY; son John Shannon of Wingdale, NY; sister Leone Gale of Lyndon Center, VT; grandchildren Ashley, Shannon, Michael and great grandchildren Jayce, Declan and Adalee. Obituary Preview: George was born on November 30,1925, in New York, NY son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Tertinsky) Stipak. He graduated from Power Memorial Academy in 1943, where he became a track and football star, fondly known as “Sparkplug Stipak”.During WWII, George served proudly as a staff sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps, as a part of the Pacific Theater. He bravely flew 27 missions as a radio operator/gunner for the 4th Emergency Rescue Squadron on a B17 Bomber from 1944 to 1946.When he came home, he continued his education at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY graduating with a degree in Finance.On May 10th1952, he married the love of his life, Helen Louise Peloso in New York, NY. He never remarried and was known to say, “There can never be another Helen”.They moved to Putnam Lake in 1958 where they raised their family of 7 children and became members of Sacred Heart Church.George was a mechanical engineer and worked for Pitney Bowes in New Haven, CT and at the same time worked for Grolier Inc. in Danbury, CT. He retired after forty years in 1989 to take care of his ailing wife.George was an usher at Sacred Heart Church, a little league coach in Patterson and a proud member of the Putnam Lake VFW.He was a skilled golfer and continued to play 18 holes at the late age of 97. He was also and avid sports fan, cheering on his NY teams with his children and grandchildren by his side. He was even honored with his brother Al as the first WWII brothers to be recognized in Yankee Stadium on April 17th, 2021. Above all others, he was a HUGE fan of UConn Women’s Basketball. As a devoted father, one of his greatest joys was watching his children perform in bands at musical events. Some of his loves included camping, cooking, classical music, and cats. Family meant everything to George. He was a proud father, grandfather, and uncle.George was predeceased by his wife Helen. Tim was born on January 29, 1993, in Danbury, CT, the son of Christopher Schneider of Waterbury, CT and Donna Buer Schneider of Bethel, CT. He graduated from Bethel, HS in 2011. Tim is also survived by his older brother Michael (Alyssa) of Pottstown, PA, his sister Kelly of Bethel, CT, his grandmother Anita Buer of Bethel, CT, his nephews James, Ian, and Ronan, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Tim was a fervent and devoted New York Mets fan and passionately rooted for whichever team a friend played for, whether it be Union College, Villanova, Harvard, Penn State, Roberts Wesleyan, or any other team. He often changed his fan gear multiple times a day in order for his attire to reflect his loyalty. Tim attended Ability Beyond for the past 10 years. Tim also was a member of Special Olympics New Milford where he was an avid bowler, basketball player, and an amazing second baseman for softball. Tim also had the honor of being a member of the Special Olympics Team USA Unified Basketball Team in 2015 which competed in the World Games in Los Angeles. His team brought home a gold medal. For many years, Tim was visible on the sidelines with Bethel sports teams. He assisted the football team in retrieving the field goal ball and was an inspiration to the teams he was a part of. Tim’s biggest passion was being the manager and foul ball retriever for the Bethel baseball team, and spending time in the dugout and on the field with the guys. Tim was and forever will be, the heart and soul of Bethel sports, as his enthusiasm and devotion always inspired his teammates to do their best and to continually achieve, for anything less than winning in Tim’s eyes was not an option! Tim was a once-in-a-lifetime soul who positively impacted the lives of so many, and anyone who came in contact with Tim instantly and intuitively knew this. To those in Tim’s circle who embraced him in every facet of his life, thank you for letting him be ‘one of the guys’. Tim cherished the laughter and memories that you shared, and the compassion, patience, and genuine care that you showed him greatly enriched his life. She graduated Gorton High School in Yonkers in 1950.On August 26,1951, she married Normand Potter, they were married just three days short of a 50th anniversary when Normand passed away. She has three daughters, Maureen Crawford (Samuel) of Brewster, NY, Carol Lefebvre (Paul) of Danbury, CT, and Susan Andrade (Carlos) of Brewster, NY. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Sam Megan, Michael and Joseph and five great grandchildren Joshua, Sammy, Jackson, Rylee, and Reid. She is predeceased by her sister Helen Oleksowicz, sister Jeanne Guerney, and brother Charles Huth, they were best friends until the end.Diane worked for Readers Digest for 25 years, back in the day when they ran on a school bus from the Village to Pleasantville.She was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal church in Brewster and belonged to the Brewster Seniors. Her favorite trip was to the casino. She also enjoyed Broadway, Bermuda, Florida and Andrea Bocelli.Family time was always special with every event celebrated on her large back porch. Obituary Preview: Peter Henry O’Hagan (April 3, 1944–March 29, 2024; Aged 79)Peter Henry O’Hagan, 79, of Brewster, New York, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife Linda O’Hagan and family by his side. He was born in the Bronx, New York to John and Anne O’Hagan, the fifth eldest of six children. Growing up, Peter and his family were parishioners of St. Jerome’s in the South Bronx. Following high school, he joined the United States Army in 1960 and proudly served for four years. After being honorably discharged from the army, Peter delved into several work opportunities before finding his calling as the Stationary Engineer at Harlem Hospital. He retired in 1998.Peter and Linda (Facchin) were introduced in 1964 by his sister, Margaret Spittle. He often recalled the feeling of love at first sight, recounting how he ran into a glass window after laying eyes on Linda for the first time. He was captivated by her beauty, unable to tear his gaze away from her. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on July 31, 1965 at St. Fidelis in College Point, NY.Peter and Linda couldn’t wait to start a family of their own. Their three children, Laura, Peter and Elaine, meant the world to him. In December of 1970, the family of five moved to Brewster, NY, where they resided for the past 53 years. Peter was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud grandfather. His favorite role was being a grandfather to his six grandchildren. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their “Poppy.” In addition to the immense joy of being a grandfather, Peter found himself doubly blessed by stepping into the role of great-grandpa to his two youngest loves, Ruth and Cole.When Peter wasn't cherishing moments with Linda, whom he affectionately called his "Flounder", or basking in the company of his children and grandchildren, he could often be found indulging in his passions for hunting, fishing or golfing. He cherished his winter escapes to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he enjoyed leisurely rounds of golf with close friends.Peter will always be remembered for the heart he shared with his friends and family, the infectious joy that came from being in his presence, and the sound of his laughter filling the room. Peter's departure leaves us with a legacy woven from threads of family, love, and a collection of memorable sayings that will forever echo in our hearts. We will fondly recall him telling us to, "have a sparkling day," and his belief that "family is the best club to be a part of," wishing we could hear them just one more time.We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather and friend. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and a heart of love for those who went before him. He died of natural causes with his loving family by his side.He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was the son of the late Walter and Geraldine E. Murphy. After high school he served in the Army for the National Guard at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn. As a young man he worked for a textiles company in Manhattan. He later worked for a Wall Street brokerage. Most of his adult life he worked for the Post Office in New Jersey. In retirement, he was a “Meals on Wheels” driver in Brooklyn.In 1963, John married Elektra Vise. They had a daughter, Diane, who is now a graphic designer. In 1968, John was remarried to Lima Josefina Ramos and he had a daughter, Ellen Marie, who later studied Darvash ballet and nursing. Diane and Ellen grew up together with their devoted father and grandmother in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. Ellen married Jim Donohue who is a building engineer, for the Crown Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. Jim is also talented in playing guitar and piano. They have five beloved children together: Catherine, Kelly, Michael, Colleen, and Nora.Family was John’s greatest joy. He loved gathering with his daughters, grandchildren and family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren’s talents in music, art, fashion design, culinary expertise, devotion to family, and love of nature. He engaged loved ones with his charm and quick wit. With a beaming smile, he expressed enthusiasm by rubbing his palms rapidly together. John enjoyed sharing his love for the New York Mets and for classic cinema such as Wuthering Heights and Double Indemnity. He felt a part of Tinseltown, by appearing as an extra in a few movies. He got a kick out of people saying he resembled the actor, Jack Palance.John loved New York City and declared with gusto “I am a Brooklyn boy!” He knew every block in Brooklyn with all their interesting restaurants and bookstores. He voraciously read and wrote poetry, and he had a fascination for Eastern religions. However, he always held fast to his Christian roots. He recently converted to Catholicism.He was always on a quest for scintillating ideas and experiences. You could find him reading, socializing and enjoying coffee in The Community Bookstore and Barnes & Noble in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He enjoyed jazz concerts at the Village Vanguard, poetry readings on MacDougal Street, and cappuccino at Cafe Reggio in Greenwich Village.John shared his warmth and excitement when meeting with family and friends for Thanksgiving and for birthday celebrations at restaurants he loved, such as Two Boots (2nd St, Park Slope) and Buckley’s in Brooklyn. During his final years, he gathered with family and friends at the Norwegian Christian Nursing Home in Brooklyn and at the Salem Hills Nursing Home, in Purdy’s, New York.With his former wife Elektra and with his sister-in-law, Penelope (Penny), an artist, they would travel by car to flea markets to sell Elektra’s handmade jewelry and Penny’s original art cards. Frank was also a father figure to many other children he knew.Franks life was filled with friends throughout his life. It would be impossible to list the lives he touched and made better by knowing him. Frank was a man who knew no limits to helping a person in need. In fact, that was the way you knew you were important to him.He was always a lover of his dogs from Duke to Vito. He cared for them with great love. Through the years he took great pride in building his Locksmith business on 86th St. in New York City. His singular greatest love outside his family and friends was drag racing. He was 92 years old.Jimmy was born August 5, 1931 in the Bronx to Harry and Bertha (Albertina Ptruszysky) Yessian. He was raised in Lake Secor/Mahopac, NY where he graduated high school on June 16, 1950. He received his college degree from the New York State Instituted of Applied Arts & Sciences (now known as Westchester Community College). He served proudly in the Korean War from 1952-1954 and wore his veteran’s hat with his pins everywhere he went. He was a founding partner of Dutchess Design and Development in 1964 which led him to also be a founding partner in Cabletronics and Arlington Steel Design (ASD) which was the second largest employer in Poughkeepsie. He retired in 1996.Jimmy met his sweetheart, Dorothy Petersen of Brewster, on stage at the Brewster Theatre Group. Besides his good looks, he won her over with his ability to always make her laugh. They married on October 26, 1957 at St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac and settled in Brewster where they raised their family.Jimmy and Dorothy were very involved with Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. They were long time members of Couples Club, danced in the Schuhklutzers German Dancers for the Oktoberfests, camped with Trinity Campers as well as the Tappan Z Campers. There was always a reason to have a pool party, whether it was for their friends, their daughter’s friends, or family. Their home was always open. They enjoyed traveling (Hawaii and Germany twice) as well as back and forth to their Florida home, stopping along the way to visit friends. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family. They were married 57 years. He was a life member of the Elks and a member of the VFW, both in Brewster.Those who knew Jimmy knew his smile, his sense of humor and jokes (for better or worse), his tinkering and ability to fix just about everything. He loved living, loved life, loved people especially family and close and long time friends. There was always a reason to have a pool party, whether it was for their friends, their daughter’s friends, or family. Their home was always open. They enjoyed traveling (Hawaii and Germany twice) as well as back and forth to their Florida home, stopping along the way to visit friends. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family. They were married 57 years. He was a life member of the Elks and a member of the VFW, both in Brewster.Those who knew Jimmy knew his smile, his sense of humor and jokes (for better or worse), his tinkering and ability to fix just about everything. He loved living, loved life, loved people especially family and close and long time friends. He was “Dad” to many family and friends and had a special bond with each of them.He is survived by his daughters Laurie (Peter) Bell and Lynne (John) Heuschkel; his grandsons Connor and Gavin Heuschkel; his granddaughter Nicole Kosminsky; his great-grandsons Cole and Brayden Kosminsky; his sister Nina Eckwerth; his nieces Tina Eckwerth, Dawn (Joseph) Sarlo, Jennifer Eckwerth, Susie (Terry) Lane, Andrea (Bruce) Yessian; his nephew Ricky Yessian; his nephew Bruce Petersenl; his niece Michelle (Matt) Forthofer and many grand-nephews and grand-neices. He is predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy, his brother Richard, and his granddaughter Danielle.A wake will be held on Sunday March 17, 2024 from Noon until 4pm at Beecher Funeral Home, One Putnam Avenue, in Brewster.Donations in celebration of Jimmy’s life made be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2103 Route 6, Brewster, NY 10509 or to your charity of choice.

Arlene enjoyed her part in the St. Lawrence Singing Sisters. She could be found singing for those who were sick or just needed to be lifted in song. These sisters took great pride in sharing this special talent. The love of her family was paramount to Arlene. Family gatherings were some of the best memories through the years. This is also where she began lifelong friendships with Mildred Doerfler and Christine Prendergast. Sheila lived in Putnam Lake, NY before moving to Sunrise FL for a number of years where she worked as an office manager at Florida Medical Center. Eventually finding her way back to NY, Sheila married Tom on June 14, 1997. Sheila worked at Green Chimneys School in Brewster NY for over 20 years where she formed many beautiful friendships. Not only was she a dedicated employee, she enjoyed volunteering in the community. After retiring, she spent time gardening, reading, traveling and visiting with friends and family. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing. She took pleasure in decorating her home and spent countless hours antiquing.Sheila was vibrant and had a big heart.
