Mary Licciardone - January 20, 1934 - April 19, 2024

Departed: 04/19/2024 (Pleasantville)
Obituary Preview: Mary Antonia Licciardone (January 20, 1934 to April 19, 2024)
Mary Antonia Licciardone passed away peacefully at home on April 19,2024 in North Carolina. Last January she celebrated her 90th birthday while amazed at her long life and grateful for its happy ending. Born to Luigi and Annina Donato in a small mountainous village in Calabria, Italy, the Second World War erupted above and around them while a young child. With the end of the war, life resumed, and it was during this time that a former villager returned to visit and fell in love. Following a traditional courtship, she and Emilio, an American war veteran, soon married. While waiting for approval to bring his wife to the US, their first son was born. Leo was barely two months old before all three embarked by ship for the Bronx via Ellis Island.
A supportive family awaited, and it wasn’t long before sons, Gino and Frank, arrived in quick succession. The growing family soon left for more spacious quarters in nearby Mount Vernon, NY. It’s here where Anthony, son number four, completed the family. My goodness, no one to help with the housework. Once the last son started attending school full time, she worked at the small department store on the Avenue. As the manager of the shoe department, she organized the shelves, ordered product and ran the cash register. Amazingly, after walking home, dinner was quickly put together and housekeeping duties resumed.
Eventually the family moved to Yonkers, NY which was home for fifty years. The boys all graduated from school and moved out and then Emilio passed away in 1989. Maintaining her independence was important as she continued working, changing jobs as necessary. Reliable Sprinkler Company brought personal growth since as an assembler and rework technician, her English reading and writing skills greatly improved. After-hour courses provided structured English lessons where she wrote stories and poems. Though not much of a reader, she enjoyed writing about her experiences. A return to retail employment at Pathmark followed the sprinkler company’s relocation to the South. After a few years in the produce and bakery departments, the walk and bus commute was no longer worth it or needed. Many years as a happy retiree followed and family was always a priority. Hosting out-of-towners and cooking for her children/grandchildren brought great joy. Besides traveling to visit family in Florida and California, she yearned to see the sites presented by travel magazines. Loving flowers and wildlife, hiking through national parks became a favorite pastime. Around the house she meticulously gardened, changed decorations as the seasons changed, over many years built-up an elaborate Christmas village displaying ancient Bethlehem with the manger scene. The outdoor Christmas display was extensive and it was a wonder the many extension cords didn’t become a problem.
Mary was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly when physically able. Meanwhile religious programming brought comfort but TV viewing also included classic comedies such as the Golden Girls, Family Feud, and Nature programs.
Mary leaves behind her four sons, Leo (Connie), Gino, Frank, and Anthony (Rosemarie) as well grandchildren Vincent, Bianca, Alexandra, and Anthony. She also is survived by sisters Gina Bastone and Stephanie Firoenza. She is pre-deceased by husband Emilio, grandson Joseph Licciardone, and siblings Frank Donato and Cetina Marano.
Anyone wishing to celebrate her life and memory is invited to attend any or all services.

Cait attended Pleasantville High School where she excelled academically, graduating salutatorian of her class. She was captain of the school’s tennis team, a member of the set and lighting crew for the school’s theater program, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Pleasantville volunteer ambulance corps. After high school, Cait attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minor in Probabilistic Mathematics. While at Vassar, she was the recipient of a Department of Defense SMART (Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation) Scholarship. Cait was also on Vassar’s rugby team, playing the position of flanker. During her junior year, she enjoyed a semester abroad in Scotland at University of Edinburgh. In 2021, Cait was awarded a Master’s of Science in Computer and Information Systems, Security/Information Assurance, from James Madison University in Harrisburg, VA.
Following her graduation from Vassar, Cait began her career working as a software engineer for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia. While in this position, Cait was nominated for demonstrating the core value of Esprit de Corps for her inspiring work ethic, persistence, and dedication. After 10 years she returned to Westchester, NY, and worked as a software developer for BlueCore in New York City and then as a senior software engineer for PAR Government in Rome, NY.
Cait was a brilliant, kind, and compassionate person, and a true friend to many. She was extremely driven and the fiercest of competitors. All of these traits were ever present in Cait, dating back to childhood. Her skills on the tennis court were something to be reckoned with. In addition to being a top singles player throughout her childhood and adolescence, Cait began playing USTA leagues tennis following graduation from college, recently making it to the national championships. She carefully followed professional tennis, was a fixture at the US Open, and was an ardent fan of Raphael Nadal. When Cait wasn’t playing (or watching) tennis, she enjoyed hiking, relaxing by the lake, playing video games, reading The New York Times, talking politics, rooting on the NY Yankees and the NY Giants (she attended many games over the years), watching figure skating, playing paintball, and most recently, learning to play pool.
Cait was also a lover of animals, particularly cats. She had opened her home to many over the years, and currently had 4. Cait was a serious person but with a strong, clever sense of humor. She always said that “Derek (her cat) walked the mean streets of Fredericksburg (VA)” before she adopted him, and told her dad that he could be in the ‘technology special olympics’ due to his multitude of knee surgeries. Cait had an impeccable sense of style, too, often sporting beautiful dresses accented by the perfect jewelry, hairstyle, and shoes. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cait found true love when she met Tim Falk. They met at a gathering, and before long, became a devoted, loving couple. Cait and Tim shared wonderful times, and had many more planned for the future. Some of their most cherished memories were created with family dinners at Cait’s grandmother’s home, travel to the Catskills to visit and spend quality time with family, trips to Connecticut and Massachusetts for USTA tournaments, and indulging their shared love of history with visits to the many museums of Washington DC. Tim shared Cait’s love of the outdoors and they enjoyed traversing many local hiking trails, including those of Storm King Mountain, Anthony’s Nose, and the Shawangunk Mountains. Cait and Tim also enjoyed driving around Tarrytown catching Pokémon.
Caitlin is survived by her mother, Lauren, father Bob, sister and brother-in-law Heather and Carlos Amaya, brother, Kyle, partner, Tim, grandmothers Bernice Masse and Ann Bull, niece and nephew Hannah and Dominic Amaya, and aunts and uncles Paul and Laura Masse, Julie Masse, Catherine Bull, Stephen Bull, and Jeanne Curtis. William N. Luceno - November 12, 1942 - March 03, 2024

Departed: 03/03/2024 (Pleasantville)
Obituary Preview: William N. “Bill” Luceno passed away after a brief illness on March 3, 2024 in Jupiter, Florida where he and his wife Pamela resided for the past 25 years. Bill was born in Mamaroneck, New York in November 1942 to Vito & Madelyn Luceno and spent his early years in the “Friendly Village” where his strong Catholic faith took root, his lifelong friendships began and his athletic prowess bloomed.
From an early age it seemed whatever sport, like life, Bill engaged in, he became a champion from baseball, hockey and tennis to golf. The accolades and trophies continued to amass throughout his lifetime. An All County Hockey and Baseball player, whose pitching got a look from a Major League scout, inducted into the Mamaroneck High School Sports Hall of Fame, Tennis Club Champion at Orienta Beach Club, All Round Club and Seniors Golf Champion at Westchester Country Club in the same year and was a 40-year member of Winged Foot Golf Club. That competitive edge followed Bill into the business world where he rose from an assistant account manager to CEO of a Madison Avenue Advertising agency.
Bill’s ascendancy in the advertising world began at Shell Oil and Lever Brothers, followed by his rise at Wells Rich Greene (“WRG”) from Senior Vice President to head of “WRG” Southwest and ultimately President of “WRG”/Worldwide from 1981 to 1987. Fulfilling an early prediction of founder Mary Wells written on a card he kept on his desk - “Someday you’ll be running this company.” Always seeking a new challenge, Bill became the Chief Executive Officer of Ally & Gargano in 1988.
Throughout his career, some of the most memorable accounts and campaigns he supported were Alka Seltzer: “Plop, plop. Fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is”, Dunkin Donuts with Fred the Baker and his catchphrase “Time to make the donuts” as well as the iconic New York Tourism slogan: “I Love New York”. As quoted in the New York Times, Bill was always looking for “The Big Idea”.
As Bill’s successful advertising career was coming to a close, he began to champion a new cause as his Catholic faith became even stronger. The appearance of the Virgin Mary in Medugorje in the former Yugoslavia to a group of teenagers had a profound effect on Bill’s life and a calling to spread the messages of the Blessed Mother. Combining his skills, expertise and knowledge perfected in the media world, Bill used his “powers” for the good. Through the formation of Mary’s Media Foundation, Bill set out to share the messages of the Blessed Mother to mankind as well as to shine a spotlight on important social issues including homelessness, hunger and protection of the unborn.
Regardless of the commitments of the business world, his exhaustive work for Catholic causes and the siren call of the golf course, family was always at the forefront of Bill’s life. Not only was he devoted to his wife Pam, son Tim and daughter-in-law Chrissy and grandchildren Madelyn, Griffin and Olivia, Bill had been extremely close to his mother Madelyn who passed in 2006 and father Veet who left too early in 1986. As the eldest son, Bill quickly assumed the role of “Don” in the family, shepherding his 4 younger siblings, Jack, Bob, Jeanie and Charlie, through their adult life and was always available for sound guidance, business advice and the occasional corrective nudge.
Throughout his life, like many a Luceno, Bill kept his connection to Mamaroneck, returning often to attend High School Reunions, golf at Winged Foot, visits with cousins and dinners with his lifelong friends to the Village where his father had been born in a house in the “Flats” in 1910.
Bill and Pam discovered and fell in love with Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida making it their full time home in 2003. As with his time in New York, Bill made great friends, was a daily communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church and continued his work for Mary’s Media Foundation, ultimately writing, producing and directing 5 films dedicated to the messages of the Blessed Mother. When not engaged in this calling, Bill was also active and successful in the real estate world and not surprisingly, played a lot of golf, and yes, won the Club Championship there as well.
Bill’s impact on the business world, golf course, friends and family will long be remembered, but undoubtedly it would be his wish that his legacy be his strong Catholic faith and the spread of the love and messages of Our Blessed Mother.
Visitation will be March 12th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home Pleasantville, N.Y. and a Mass of Christian Burial March 13th at 11:00 a.m at the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, White Plains, N.Y.
