John Everett Stickle - April 12, 1942 - March 07, 2024

Departed: 03/07/2024 (Rockledge)
Obituary Preview: John Everett Stickle, 81, of Merritt Island, Florida passed away peacefully in the wee hours of March 7th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 61-plus years, Mary Lee, and their three children, Lisa Marie (Marc Thornton), John Thomas (John Coppola), Joseph Vincent, granddaughter, Margrett, his younger brother Frank (Sharon), nieces, nephews, his 3-yr old puppy, Molly, and his 2 grand-furbabies, DixieLee and DaisyMae. John was predeceased by his older brother, Robert and sister, Carolyn.
John was born in Binghamton, New York on April 12th, 1942, enlisting in the United States Navy in 1960. He met his future bride, Mary Lee, while stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Cocoa Beach, 1962. They married October 4th, 1962, at Church of Our Saviour, Cocoa Beach and their traveling adventures began as a Naval couple, welcoming their three children over the next six years.
A member of the Naval Security Group, (NAVSECGRU), John’s remarkable Naval career would take him and his family to destinations that most are only lucky to vacation to.
After a 21-year career with the USN, he retired from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1980 as a Chief Petty Officer and returned with his family to the “scene of the crime,” Merritt Island, Florida. During his tenure in Hawaii, he was the coach of his daughter’s softball team for two years, as well as a coach to the boy’s baseball team.
Upon returning to Brevard County, John went to work on the Space Shuttle Program with Grumman Technical Services, and then, later to Northrop Grumman, where he worked for 16 years in Industrial Security as an Investigator. While vacationing in Maui, Hawaii in September 2002, John made the decision to retire early from his second career.
As a retiree, John volunteered at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Savannah’s Golf Course, Health First Healthplex, and at the Patrick Air Force Pharmacy. Letting no grass grow under his feet, he and Mary Lee lived an active retirement in Merritt Island, traveling much over the next 25 years, thanks to the benefits provided by their son, John Thomas, an employee of United Air Lines. John and Mary Lee enjoyed cruising, making four Transatlantic cruises, among so many other cruises with family and friends. San Francisco was a favorite destination to visit with their longtime friends of nearly 60 years.
An active parishioner at Church of Our Saviour, he served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. John’s Catholic faith was very important to him, and he lived it out daily. John was an avid golfer, master griller, and absolute HERO to his three children, with whom he instilled a strong sense of compassion, family, integrity, morals, values, and principles. He was a 10K runner and co-ed softball player during his Northrop Grumman days and worked out in the gym regularly throughout his retirement.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2017, John fought with strength and courage up until the moment he was called home for his “tee time” with Fr. Eamon Tobin, his longtime friend and golfing partner, who preceded him in death, 2021. As a “charter” member of the first Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) Program in Brevard when it began on Merritt Island in 2018, John was a determining and committed model for other boxers battling Parkinsons. John continued to be an active member at RSB until Covid changed things for everyone.
John lived an extraordinary life, always a pillar of strength over adversity, a nearly 62-yr devotion to his wife, friends and family across the globe, and champion to all three of his children, love for all his furbabies, and all brought home by his kids. Known by many names over his lifetime: Chief, Coach, Mr. Stickle, Inspector12, Duke, Pops, Papa, and Dad, he will be forever missed, loved, and remembered as an enduring source of inspiration for all who knew and loved him.
John's memorial mass will be held Monday, March 18th, 2024, at 10:30 am in the Church of Our Saviour, 5301 N Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach. The burial will be at 12:30 pm at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1 in Mims.

Anne Louise Kruger - August 08, 1931 - February 10, 2024

Departed: 02/10/2024 (Rockledge)
Obituary Preview: Anne Louise Kruger (née Anne Louise Longsworth) passed away Saturday February 10, 2024.
She was born in New York City, NY on August 8, 1931 to Helen Frances (Cady) Longsworth and Louis G. Longsworth. As a granddaughter of Hamilton Perkins Cady, a celebrated chemist and Professor Emeritus at Kansas University, she graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She then won a Fulbright scholarship to study chemistry in Leon, France. After returning from France, Anne married Leo Henry Kruger, whom she met at Kansas University where he had completed a PhD, also in chemistry. The couple lived a few years in Berlin, NH (where their daughters Lynn and Nancy were born), about 30 years in Kendall Park, NJ (where Wayne and Mary were born), and about 25 years in Asbury, NJ before moving to Cocoa Beach, FL to live near their eldest daughter, Lynn. They were happily married for 61 years until Leo’s death in 2016.
About the same time that their youngest child Mary started school, Anne also returned to academia. She attended Rutgers University where she completed a Master of Science in Environmental Science in 1976, a Master of Science in Ecology in 1977, and a PhD in Ecology in 1981. She was subsequently featured in the 1982 Academy Award Nominated documentary “In Our Water”, which told the story of a local landowner whose well water had been contaminated by a nearby landfill. Anne then went on to work as an Environmental Specialist Consultant for various companies and spent many years working with the Passaic River Coalition, a group devoted to the preservation and protection of northern New Jersey’s waterways.
Besides the environment, Anne had a great passion for travel. She travelled occasionally to Europe, as well as Central and South America, but her greatest joy was in road trips across the country to visit national parks. This was another love which was passed down from her grandfather, who had built a cabin in Estes Park, CO near the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Anne and Leo travelled widely across the country with their children, going as far as Alaska, and often spent time at the cabin. One of Anne’s favorite boasts was that she had visited every state except Hawaii, and she leaves behind a veritable library of slides from her travels.
Anne and Leo were also avid church-goers. In 1959 they were founding members of the Community Presbyterian Church of the Sand Hills in Kendall Park, NJ (now Grace Presbyterian Church), and were regular and active attendants until they moved to Cocoa Beach in 2013. Their move to Asbury, NJ in the late 1980’s, which was 45 minutes away from the Kendall Park church, was not a deterrent to their attendance. Anne was also always a generous giver to many charities, especially charities which served to preserve nature and the environment.
Anne is survived by her daughters, Lynn, Nancy and Mary, her two grandchildren, Laurel and Charlie, her brother, Ralph, and her sister, Stella. A service to celebrate her life will take place on March 9, 2024 at 11:00 at the Beckman Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach, with a wake at her home following the ceremony.

Victor Alan Brown - December 18, 1933 - January 03, 2024

Departed: 01/03/2024 (Rockledge)
Obituary Preview: Victor Alan Brown, (90), a longtime resident of Cocoa Beach, passed away on January 3, 2024, after a 6-year battle with cancer and a recent bout of COVID. Vic, as he was known to friends, was born to R. Julian and Elizabeth Brown, on December 18, 1933, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was a good student with a head for numbers and he received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. After graduation, Vic completed flight training at NAS Pensacola (Florida) and NAS Hutchinson (Kansas). He went on to fly maritime patrol /anti-submarine aircraft, P2V Neptune, while stationed at NAS Whidbey Island (Washington) and Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Station, (Japan).
During his time at Whidbey Island, he met and married the love of his life, Marianne Skewis. In 1959, he resigned from active duty to join the Boeing Company. In 1961, during the early years of manned space flight, he was transferred to the Space Coast of Florida. He spent his entire career in the aerospace industry, in Cape Canaveral, Kennedy Space Center and Seattle. He worked at several companies over the years (TRW, PRC and EG&G) before returning to Boeing. His final assignment was on the Inertial Upper Stage space payload booster program before he retired from Boeing in 1993.
Vic and Marianne were avid travelers. Once their children were grown, they began pursuing their passion in earnest. They went to the Far East, Russia, India, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the Baltic, the Caribbean, and many destinations in the US. Because of their love of the water, they chose to buy homes on waterfront properties. There, Vic could fish and boat whenever he wanted, right from the backyard. They also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and participated in many regular bridge groups. Recently, Vic enjoyed a quieter life with Marianne; taking in beautiful views of the Banana River every day, watching many launches from their condo window, and playing with their rescue cats over the years.
Vic was a gentle and reserved man, but he also had a very quick wit. When he got that sparkle in his eye, you knew he was going to crack a joke or make a sarcastic quip. Despite spending his last six months in and out of the hospital, he never lost that sense of humor. He still made wry comments, especially when his caregivers thought he was sleeping. His kindness and humor will be missed.
Vic is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marianne, two children, David Brown and Laura Brown, and two grandchildren, Chase Brown and Nicolina Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Moore, along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
