James "Jim" S Loverink - June 05, 1936 - September 13, 2021

Obituary Preview: Funeral Service for James S. Loverink will be held at 10AM on Saturday (9/18) at Hollandale Reformed Church. Pastor Neil Ooms will officiate. Jim “Gem” Loverink, age 85 of Hollandale, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on June 5, 1936 to Jeppe “Jack” and Marie (Van Wilgen) Loverink in Hollandale. He attended school in Rose Creek, Albert Lea and Geneva. After school he helped on the family farm until he bought his Vermeer tiling machine and founded Loverink Drainage at age 17. He started with his father’s farm, tiled the neighbors’ farms and never stopped. He retired from his drainage business in 2007. He married Genevieve Vande Kamp on August 16, 1957 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Once they outgrew their little home on the outskirts of Hollandale, they were blessed to move into a larger home to raise their family in 1964. Jim was a longtime member and involved in the Hollandale Reformed Church. He was an avid historian and officer for the Hollandale Museum as well as a member of the Land Improvement Contractors Association. Jim was involved in the Hollandale Cafe coffee ministry. He loved to fish, enjoyed deer hunting, playing dominos, up and down the river, ME and told jokes and stories daily. His passion was going “up north” to their Geneva Pond House and Red Shed where he spent hours on his John Deere tractor. He loved to spend time with family and friends, most of all his bride who, “melted my heart like butter.”
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Genevieve “Vivie”; 7 children (his one and a half dozen) Lee (Jodi), Jayne DeJong, Joyce (Bryan) VanGorp, Mike (Liz), Kae, Sue (Mike) Buchner and Lance (Dawn); grandchildren Kelsey, Trevor, Leah (Jordan),  Bradley (Stephanie), Melanie (Christopher), Ryan, Trent, Rachel (Bailey), Jacob (Alie), John (Christine), Lynsey and Easton; great grandchildren Evelynn, Eleanor, Haddon, Knox, Ryle James, Parker and Vivie; it was Jim’s privilege to inherit 4 step-grandchildren Jen and Ashley (Jacob), Michael, Roxy; and 10 step-great-grandchildren Hadley, Brentley, Tennley, Quinnley, Loxley, Isley, Gavin, Case and Colt and Isaiah; sisters Doreen (Dennis) Richards and Lori Jacobsen; sisters-in-law Joanie, Tracy Vandgrift, Eva Karsjens and Ardie Vande Kamp; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special friend John Erwert and caregivers Brian, Andi and Anna. The family would like to extend a special thank you to SMART Transit of Albert Lea for providing the services to Jim in our time of need.

Cecilia "Cela" Winjum - March 22, 1936 - September 10, 2021

Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Cecilia “Cela” Winjum will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea. Fr. Kurt Farrell will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota.
Cecilia died September 10, 2021 at Northfield Care Center in Northfield, Minnesota.  She was 85 years old.
Cecilia Carey was born March 22, 1936 at Austin, Minnesota to parents Horace Grant Carey and Cecelia Thome Carey.  She was a graduate of Pacelli High School.
She married Thomas Winjum on March 7, 1959 at Northwood, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Albert Lea where their three daughters were born.
Over the years, Cecilia held various nursing assistant jobs in the area.  She was a member of St. Theodore’s Church.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Magdalene Carey Clance, Helen Carey Ulwelling, Velma Carey Strange, Mary Carey Winkels, Margaret Carey Butler; brothers Horace Carey Jr., Bernard Carey and an infant brother Michael Carey.
She is survived by her husband Thomas; daughters Rita (Paul) Peterson, Kelli Evenson, Peggy (Ron) Benson; grandsons Joshua (Carrie) Winjum, Brandon (Cassi) Benson; great-grandchildren Jamal Donovan, Devin Winjum, Morgan Reuvers, Emma, Benjamin and Elizabeth Benson; and great-great granddaughter Avery Grace Abrams.
Cecilia is also survived by a brother David (Mary) Carey; sisters Charlene Carey Young and Rosemary (Keith) Carey Price; sisters-in-law Sharon Ulland, Elaine (Raymond) King; brother-in-law Arthur Winjum Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Irene Kathryn (Wangen) Johnson, 91, of Clarks Grove and Ellendale, MN, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Lyngblomsten Care Center in Saint Paul, MN.
Irene was born in Freeborn County on January 30, 1930 to Martin and Betsy Wangen, marrying Norman Johnson Jr. on May 3, 1947 at the Oakland Lutheran Church, residing in Freeborn County for 77 years where they raised 6 children north of Clarks Grove and were involved in the community, including long time volunteering at St. John’s Lutheran Home, North Freeborn Altar Guild, church women and Circle.  Norman and Irene moved to Steele County in 2007.  Irene was baptized, married and confirmed at Oakland Lutheran Church.  Irene and Norman attended North Freeborn Church from 1950 until it closed in 2000, they then joined Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, MN.
Irene loved to take care of her family, cooking fabulous meals and baking wonderful treats including fresh breads, rolls, desserts, and lefse.  She spent many hours babysitting for her grandchildren.  Irene took her role as homemaker very seriously and was a wonderful worker on their dairy and crop farm.  Her flower gardens were beautiful.  Canning and freezing were common.
Irene is survived by her son Nathan (Sharon Story) of Clarks Grove, son Chris of Owatonna, son Mark (Cheryl VanWyngeeren) of Ellendale, son David of Albert Lea, daughter Carolyn Klaver (Glen) of Maplewood, sister Alice Brunmeier Lee, sister-in-law Elinor Stotts, sister-in-law Lillian Johnson.
Grandchildren Debra (Jessie Silva), Jennifer (Tim Bangs), Nick (Erin), Michele (Scott Kalb), Eric (Sara), Chad (Allison Slegh), Danyel Skattebo, Elizabeth Griffith, David (Doni Groeneweg), Adam (Becky) Klaver, Kirsten Klaver.

Irene is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Kathleen, her husband of 64 years Norman, sister Berline (Ernie) Johnson, brothers Walter (Fern) Wangen and Bud (Janice) Wangen, daughter-in-law, Kelly Johnson (married to David), great grandchild Ashton Skattebo (grandchild to David).
Funeral for Irene will be at 11:30AM on Saturday, September 25 at Ellendale United Methodist Church of Ellendale, MN with Rev. Randy Cirksena officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.  Burial will take place before the church service at North Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery with Rev. Shane Koepke, from Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, presiding.

Alan was born in Albert Lea, MN on September 19, 1949 to Alvin and Maxine (Haukoos) Savick.  He grew up in Freeborn County residing in Woodvale and REM homes.  Alan loved his time with family.  He enjoyed puzzles, Elvis Presley, John Wayne, superheroes, and watching TV (especially old westerns).  Alan also enjoyed visiting with all the staff daily at REM home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at REM Home for their excellent care of Alan over the years.
Alan is survived by his brother, Vik (Gail) Savick; sisters, Dixie (Dale) Johannsen, Patti Behrens and many nieces and nephews.

Gene DenHerder - August 31, 1947 - September 03, 2021

Pastor Neal Ooms will Officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, from 5 to 7 pm at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Hollandale Cemetery. Gene died Friday evening September 3, 2021 at his home in Hollandale.
Gene was born August 31, 1947 in LeMars, Iowa and was the son of Alvin and Katherine (Feekes) DenHerder. He graduated from Sioux Center High School in Sioux Center Iowa in 1965. He attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, graduating in 1970. Gene entered the service in April of 1970, where he served in the Vietnam War. While in College, he met Susan Veldman. On August 8, 1970, they were united in marriage at the Hollandale Reformed Church.  Gene finished his tour of service in 1971. He then joined Susan in Lake Benton, MN where he began teaching and coaching in Elkton, SD. There he built Elkton’s first winning football team and began a girl’s track team.
In June 1977, they moved to Hollandale, MN where Gene began farming with his father-in-law (Bill Veldman). While farming he also drove truck and sold insurance for Farm Bureau. Gene was an avid sports fan. He helped coach his sons’ Elks basketball teams, loved golfing, where he could hit the ball forever, and softball. His biggest passion was his family.
Gene is survived by his wife Susan, of 51 years; children, Suzanne (Scott) Dickson, Michael (Angie) DenHerder, Bruce (Sari) Denherder; grandchildren, Madison, Levi, Lukas, Aubri, Maci and Bryce; brothers, Vern (Diane) DenHerder, Dan (Rhonda) DenHerder; sister, Marilyn (Robert) VanDemark; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy (Jim) VanderSyde, Bob (Maureen) Veldman, Rick (Carolyn) Veldman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Katherine DenHerder and father-in-law, William Veldman.
The family wants to thank St. Croix Hospice, Chastity, Denette and all the staff for their love and support for Gene these last weeks.

Esther Avis Pagel - September 25, 1924 - September 02, 2021

Obituary Preview: Esther Avis (Anderson) Pagel passed away peacefully on September 2nd, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea, Minnesota. She was born in Brisbane, North Dakota to William and Nancy Anderson on September 25, 1924. Esther had a large, blended family of six half-brothers and sisters, and six brothers and sisters.
She graduated from Leath High School in May, 1943. On March 24th, 1944, she married Wilbert Pagel. She and Wilbert had 12 children and divorced in 1975. Esther never remarried.
Esther was a humble woman that lived her life with strength, courage and ingenuity. She generously loved her family, being with children, enjoying music and laughter. Esther also enjoyed working in her large garden. Using the skills she learned as a child, she started her own home-based business as a seamstress as well as upholstering furniture for many in the community. Esther was a faithful Christian and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints, often staying positive by "Counting her Blessings".
Survived by son, Jerry Pagel (Cheryle) children: Chris (Kimberly), Andy (Cam), Heath (Jen); son-in-law, Saffet Ozturk (husband of daughter, Judy (Pagel) Ozturk), Judy's children: Dan, Robbie, Katie (Mikale) ; son, Richard Pagel, children: Eric, Lindz ; daughter, Nancy Sather (Irv), children: Gabe (Marsha), Elliot (Juli), Chandra (Matthew), Cameron (Tarrah); son, David Pagel, children: Emily; son, Timothy Pagel (Rayna), children: Kevin (Ashley), Krystal (David); son, John Pagel, children: Desiree (Steven), Lacey and Josh (Becky); son, Mark Pagel (Anita), children: Mikayla (Tom), Jordan (Carrie), Justin (Valerie); son, Doug Pagel (Kim), children: Kacey (Lucas); Dalton (Katie); daughter, Mary Stevens, children: Benjamin , Sarah (Neil), Samantha; daughter, Sandy Holmes and (Jeff), children: Rebekah (Tom), Jessikah (Aren), Zacheriah. Esther has been blessed with 45 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by; father, William Anderson; Mother, Nancy Darby; half brothers and sisters: Olive Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, Loiuse Johnson, Richard Anderson, Vergil Anderson, Gordon Anderson and Betty Swenson; brothers and sisters: LaJune Anderson, Joyce Anderson, Gloria Gunderson, Gerald Anderson, Donald Anderson, Norma Phyliss and Vernon Anderson; infant daughter Susan; daughter, Judy (Pagel) Ozturk; son-in-law, John Stevens and grandson Evan Long.
A heartfelt thank you to daughter-in-law, Rayna Pagel for the care and attention she gave to Esther while living at Good Samaritan's long term care facility for the years she was there. Having her close by, as mom's guardian angel, was reassuring for everyone who loves her. While there, Esther enjoyed the music and activities for the residents.
Esther's service for family members will be held September 25th, 2021 at Bayview Funeral Home in Albert Lea. The service will be livestreamed and recorded via Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home’s website.

Robert Daniel Reichl, 97, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea.  Robert was born July 9, 1924 to Anton and Hanna (Jacobson) Reichl in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Robert attended and graduated school in Albert Lea, continuing his education at vocational school for industrial mechanics. Robert worked as a farmer, wood worker and Realtor/Broker owning Reichl Real Estate for many years.
On November 27, 1949 Robert married Donna Ann Gordon at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  To this union two children were born.  Robert was a member of First Baptist Church and Bridge Community Church.  He was a member of the Elks, Lions, MLS Realtor Association and men’s bible study groups.  He enjoyed volunteering may hours with the Red Cross.
Robert enjoyed watching sports, fishing, golfing woodworking, and playing cards, especially Bridge and 500.  He enjoyed tinkering on repairs and was a big sports fan especially of the Vikings and Twins.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are his children, Larry (Cheri) Reichl and their children Clarissa (Eric) Blodgett, Melissa (Jeremiah) Bender, and Anton Reichl; JoAnn (Chuck) Malepsy and their children Anthony (Jennifer) Malepsy and Jessica (Harrison) Hagg; great grandchildren Noelle, Leo, Gordon, Griffin, Coen, Evelyn, Rhett and new baby to come.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Hanna; wife Donna; brothers and sisters-in-law Willard (Lillian) Reichl, Clifford (Dorothy) Reichl, Earl (Donna) Reichl; sister and brother-in-law Bernice (Myron) Cundy; nephews Ronnie Reichl and Stanly Reichl; and special friend Evie Clancy.

Solveig Christine Peterson (Storvick), age 87 of Albert Lea, passed away on August 31, 2021, at Thorne Crest Senior Living in Albert Lea.
Solveig was born on February 16, 1934 to Alert and Henrietta (Rogness) Storvick in Albert Lea. She was baptized and confirmed at Round Prairie Lutheran Church by Rev. A.C. Korsrud. Solveig attended Dist. 47 country school and graduated from Albert Lea High School. She married Robert (Bob) E. Peterson on June 15, 1952, at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. Solveig attended Naeve Hospital School of Nursing and spent many years caring for new moms and babies along with many other R.N. duties.
Solveig was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in many phases of church activities over the years. She also served on the Naeve Board of Trustees. Nothing pleased Solveig more than having a house full of family and friends.
Solveig is survived by her children Monica (Mike) Robinson, Ross (Shelly) and Ried (Beth) Peterson; grandchildren Jeremy (Heather Feuchtenberger) Peterson, Tyler (Katie) Peterson, Brandon (Lisa) Robinson, Joshua (Rachael) Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Brent Robinson, Robert Peterson, Ryan (Hannah) Peterson, Eve Peterson, ReAnn Peterson, and Jill (fiancé Noah) Peterson; great grandchildren Emily, Ethan, Hunter, Alex, Rebekah, and Mercedes; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1988; son Mark in 2008; brothers Waldemar, Adrian, Norman, and Alvin.

Orvis P Rake - June 07, 1926 - August 30, 2021

Obituary Preview: Orvis P. Rake, 95, of Albert Lea, MN, passed away at the New Richland Care Center on Monday, August 30, 2021. A Graveside Service will be held at 11Am on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, IA, with Rev. Shane Koepke presiding.
Orvis was born on June 7, 1926 to Johnnie and Clara Rake in Rake, Iowa.  He grew up Rake, Iowa and graduated from the local high school.  After graduation, he attended Luther College and received his degree in education.  In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years.  Upon his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, Orvis went back to school to earn his Master’s in Education.  Orvis taught in the greater Albert Lea area until he retired at the age of 55.  Orvis was united in marriage to Betty Lou Bolstad on June 7, 1953 in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Orvis had many scholarly achievements over the years, but his greatest was the publication and use of a Driver’s Manual he wrote.  This Driver’s Manual was used to teach Driver’s Education Classes in Iowa.  Orvis was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, MN.  His greatest passions in life were building and flying model airplanes, playing golf, and his family.  Orvis’ children and grandchildren will forever remember him for his wacky gifts and practical jokes.
Orvis is survived by his son, David Rake; son-in-law, Doug Edwards; grandchildren, Amber (Luke) Lacina, Mark (Molly) Edwards, Daniel and his fiancé, Sally Ann Keyes, Matthew Edwards; great grandchildren, Ava, Konx, Winslow, Conner, and Olivia; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Orvis is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and daughter, Jane Edwards.

Daphne was born on February 3, 1932 in Albert Lea with her twin brother Daryl to Gustave and Inez (Quam) Wangen.  She was baptized by Rev. Sigurd Sorenson, confirmed and married by the Rev. Dr. Melford S. Knutson at First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea.  A 1950 graduate of Albert Lea, she was joined in marriage to Marvin Wittmer on June 14, 1953.  From this union they were blessed with five children.
Daphne loved the farm life and assisted her husband and children with developing the Wittmer homestead into a Grade A dairy farm. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church serving as an 8th grade Sunday School teacher, Jr. Lutheran teacher, a member of the Concordia Choir, Mission Circle and Ladies Aid. Daphne was a busy mother balancing community activity while maintaining a 30-year job in the workforce.  She attended her children’s 4-H activities as an adult leader, their sports games, and band concerts while serving two terms as PTA Secretary of the Alden/Conger Schools.  After moving off the farm, Daphne cultivated a garden of violets in her home and loved gifting them to friends and neighbors.  Being an avid reader, you’d find her collection of history books and biographies lining her bookshelves.  After becoming a widow, Daphne wrote and published her own life story – Scarred For Life – Healed For Eternity.  She was a hairdresser by nature and used her skills to cut, perm, and style her family’s hair, and friends as well.  Drawing was another love of Daphne’s and she was honored to receive blue ribbons for her publicly exhibited portraits.  She loved traveling as her children moved state to state throughout the country, but the highlight of her life was her “Reformation Tour of Europe”. Daphne’s skill for photography was apparent when she brought home the sights of Europe in over 700 photos.
Daphne is survived by her children; Lynn (Rev. Steven) Lunning, Mark, Karen and Dean; grandchildren, Julia (Robert) Hoover, Andrew (Stephanie) Lunning, and Julie (Jesse) Lindahl, great grandchild Henry Hoover, daughter-in-law Brenda Wittmer, brother, LaMar (Donna) Wangen; sister, LaMone (Gary) Nelson; several nieces and grandnieces and nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Preceding Daphne in death are her husband, Marvin; son, Bryan; grandsons, Joseph Bryan Wittmer and Philip Ian Lunning, brother Daryl Wangen and parents and parents-in-law.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy was born on a farm in rural Kensett, Iowa on March 24, 1927 to Hans and Mary Kuhlmann.  Dorothy graduated from Kensett Public School in 1945.  She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree at Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa.   Dorothy met Carlyle Greibrok in 1947 at the Northwood Roller Skating Rink.  The couple were united in marriage on May 20, 1951 at Kensett Norwegian Lutheran Church.  They established their home and raised their children on a farm south of Oakland, MN.
Dorothy was a homemaker and took care of her children.  Her hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening as well as crocheting dresses for her dolls.  Dorothy taught Sunday School at the Oakland Lutheran Church and Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church.  She held offices in circles and attended neighborhood mother’s clubs.   Dorothy helped out on the farm often driving tractor, but helped out wherever she was needed.  She loved spending time with her family and attended as many family functions as she could.  In her later years, she enjoyed playing 50 UP and King’s Corners with her grandchildren and her new friends at Sacred Heart Assisted Living.   Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed meeting the tour groups who visited the Greibrok Mini History Farm.
Dorothy is survived by her five children, David (Julie) Greibrok and their children, Danny, Joey (Jen) and great grandchildren Cullen, Sawyer, and Leighton and Jamie (Trent) Fader, Rebecca (John) Westra and daughter, Rachel (Tony) Steward and great grandson Noah, Dwight (Patricia) Greibrok and their children, Andrew, Sarah (Andy Rooney) Greibrok, Michael (Ashley), John Greibrok and daughter Kaylee, and  Allan (Laurie) and their children Katelyn and Braden; daughter-in-law, Canda Greibrok and her children, Michael and Jordan; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle; son, Dean; son-in-law, Robert Edwards; and siblings, Margaret (Luverne) Diedrich, Arlene (Leland) Stoddard, and Carl (Donna) Kuhlmann.

Donald was born on June 5, 1934 to Benjamin and Evelyn (Samuelson) Porter in Bemidji, MN.  He grew up in the Bagley, MN area.  Donald married Ann Marquette on November 3, 1956 in Albert Lea.  To this union three children were born Sheryl, Eugene and Darla.  The couple later divorced.  Donald had many jobs over the course of his life and he considered himself an entrepreneur.
Donald loved to sing karaoke.  Country western was his favorite genre to sing.  Donald won several karaoke competitions!  When Donald was not singing karaoke or working he enjoyed fishing and pan-frying the fish he caught.  He had a great sense of humor and loved talking smart.
Donald is survived by his three children, Sheryl McCoskey, Eugene (Deborah) Porter, Darla (Victor) Harmasz; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kari) Harmasz, Natalie (Justin Courtright) Harmasz, great grandchild, Kinzie Harmasz; brother, Daniel (Ann) Tollefson; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.

Obituary Preview: Richard (Dick-Cameo) Cameron passed away August 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held Friday August 20, 2021 at Bayview Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN.  Services will be at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to services.  Internment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery along side his wife and son. Dick was born on September 5, 1934 to James W and Susie J (Gerdes) Cameron in Algona, Ia.  He attended Albert Lea area schools.  Dick married Barbara Hoium in January 1954.  To this union one son Greg was born.  They later divorced.  Dick joined the army in December 1954 and was stationed in Germany for two and one half years and was honorably discharged in November 1957.  In May 1966 Dick married Janet Weiler.  To this union one son Cris was born. Dick was a semi truck driver most of his adult life and was extremely proud that he never had a chargeable accident.  He drove truck for Railway Express, Red Owl, and finally for Streaters from where he retired in 1999. During his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  As his life went on he could be found having a beer or two with good friends at the clubs he belonged to.  He was proud to be a member of the Eagles, American Legion, Moose, and VFW organizations.  Dick went on several trips to Las Vegas with a group of friends especially his best friend Moe .These last few years he liked to run down to Diamond Jo Casino once or twice a week finally hitting a jackpot last year.  He was also an avid Twins and Vikings fan. Richard is survived by his son Greg Cameron, granddaughter Heather (Bri) Godtland,  grandson Travis (Heather) Cameron Sr, great-grandchildren Haley, Trista, Travis Jr. Cameron and Andrew Godtland and great-great-grandchildren Jayden and Jemma Haas.  Special nephew and friend Mark (Amber) Cameron along with several other nieces and nephews. Preceding Richard in death were his parents James W Cameron, Susie J Stensrude and stepfather Kenneth O Stensrude, wife and son Janet and Cris Cameron, brothers Lloyd, James and George Cameron and brother Dickie Dean in infancy, sisters-in-laws Fern and Rosalyn Cameron and nephews Michael, Clay and James Cameron. Dick will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  He was the last remaining survivor of his family's great generation era.

Earl Lloyd Parriott, age 89 of New Richland, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Thorne Crest Senior Living.
Earl was born on September 16, 1931, in Bricelyn, MN. He was the son of Leo and Clara (Donhough) Parriott. He graduated from New Richland High School in 1949. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served in England until he was discharged in 1954. After returning home, Earl farmed with his father and raised turkeys on the family farm, which was one of the largest turkey farms in Waseca County. He married Kathryn Evenson on January 14,1961 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Together they moved to the family farm and raised their family, farmed and raised hogs. Earl started working for Waseca County Highway Department in 1963 and worked for 31 years.
Earl and Kathryn enjoyed annual fishing trips to northern Wisconsin, winter trips to Florida, and watching their children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Earl was an avid newspaper reader and was always very inquisitive. He loved a good cup of coffee with “the old neighbors.” He was able to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2019. He was very proud of hitting the jackpot on a lottery ticket on Kathryn’s 80th birthday. One of the last projects of his life was restoring a historic John Deere tractor. Most of all, Earl enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Earl was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church in New Richland and served as a Trustee for many years. He was a member of the New Richland American Legion Post 75, New Richland Lions Club, and Waseca VFW. He volunteered at New Richland Area Food Shelf and New Richland Historical Society.
Earl is survived by his wife of 60 years Kathryn; children Jayne (George) Jessen, Julie (Tom Collins) Peterson, and Mark (Sara); grandchildren Christopher (Shannon) Jessen, Claire (Ty) McDevitt, Morgan Parriott, and Griffin Parriott; great grandchildren Jackson, Jordan, and Jett Jessen, and Mila McDevitt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gloria MacDermott.

Obituary Preview: Ilo Yvonne Long, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday evening, August 7, 2021 at the age of eighty seven.
Ilo was born December 20, 1933 in Albert Lea to Alfred and Nora (Bergeson) Flugum. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1951. In 1954, she was married to Ingvald Dagestad. The couple later divorced. On September 7, 1963 she was united in marriage to Charles Long. Ilo was a very loving and patient Mother & Grandmother. Her gentle nature was a calm reassurance to her large and robust family. She often made her own personal sacrifices to care for her family and friends.
Ilo enjoyed sewing and was a talented seamstress. Her gift of patience and her eye for detail were visible in her sewing creations, especially formalwear for special occasions. She enjoyed making wedding dresses, bridesmaids & flower girl dresses for her family. She even made tuxedos for her late husband, which he wore to several of their children’s weddings. She was also a talented embroider, knitter, crocheter, and quilter often donating her creations to World Relief. In addition to her passion for creating, she was also an avid reader and enjoyed putting puzzles together. Her family enjoyed many baked goods every Christmas with a variety of breads, bars, and cookies.
As a follower of Christ, she enjoyed reading her Bible and singing hymns. She was a member of Lunder Lutheran Church where she served in Rachel Circle and Ladies Aid. Church activities with fellow believers (including her husband, children, and grandchildren) brought her much joy. In her later years, she stayed closer to home but stayed tuned into Christian programming both locally and nationally. Ilo also cherish her quiet time for devotion and prayer. Her family considered her a prayer warrior and often came to her for guidance, prayer and encouragement.
She will be deeply missed by her family and is loved as much as she gave love.
Ilo is survived by her children: James Long, Steve Long (Laurie), LaWanna Soby (Tim), Clair Dagestad (Jo), Dennis Dagestad (Sharon), Dean Dagestad (Pam), Sue Bottelson (Steve), Curt Long (Steph), Kent Long (fiancé Michelle), sister: Ethel Thistad, sister-in-laws: Irene Long, Edith (Steve) Reynolds, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Marian Clarette Gooden was born September 7, 1924 to Ernest and Mabel (Sletten) Jensen north of Emmons, MN.  She was baptized at Emmons Lutheran Church.
In March of 1932 her family, together with Grandmother Jensen, moved to the farm west of Emmons in Freeborn County.
They later transferred to Lime Creek Lutheran Church where Marian attended Sunday School and was confirmed. She taught Sunday School and was active in Ladies’ Aid.  Marian had many memories of helping cook lutefisk for their many suppers, plus the many bazaars and other church activities.  She told stories of attending confirmation classes on Saturdays, keeping warm in the little North room of the basement with a wood burning stove, and losing her mother at the age of 8. Her father, grandmother and younger sister were very special to her and she remained home after she finished school to help with the housework and farm chores until she met her beloved husband, Ollie, and married him in 1946.  To their union five children were born – Cynthia, Sandra, Susan, Mikal, and Patti.  When Mikal married his beloved wife, Kim, Ollie and Marian bought an acreage next to the family farm and built their home there.
Marian loved working at her Lime Creek Church and when it closed, they joined Mansfield Lutheran Church where she still loved making quilts and also being active in WELCA.  She loved to give quilts and baby shawls she had made for baptisms, graduations, and weddings.
Marian always enjoyed a game of 500 when many friends came to her house.  Her home was always welcoming to friends and family near and far.  Her family was her pride and joy, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On May 31, 1963, she was united in marriage to Michael Hoiseth. The couple made their home in Albert Lea where they raised 5 children. Wanda lived in Albert Lea until the time of her death. Wanda was a very kind person who lived life to the fullest. She was an active member of the Eagles club and the Union center.  She loved children, even taking in her four “honorary sons”: Chris, Mike, Santos and Frankie, camping and RV trips with Mike, Brian and Helen, animals and the Minnesota Vikings. Above all, family was the most important to her. They will always remember Wanda’s famous line, “That’s about all I have.”
Wanda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mike Hoiseth; daughter, Jodi (Chris Bless) Bracky and her children Steven, Amber(Eric) and Seth; son, Jim Hoiseth; son, Jason (Jenn) Hoiseth and their children Lexi (Sam) and Erika;  daughter Jen (Tom) Keller and their children Lyle, Michael and Alyssa (Logan); 8 great grandkids; sister Audrey (Marion) Mehus and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Monica was born March 28, 1960 to Clare and Iris (Nelson) Vincent. She graduated in 1978 from Austin High School. She went on and completed vocational training after high school. She spent many years helping run the family bowling business and held other secretarial-type positions throughout her short life. On July 11, 1981 she married Robert “Bob” Barr and together they raised three children. Monica will be remembered as a devoted mother and beloved grandmother; she loved her family dearly. She was admired by many with her ability to grow beautiful beds of colorful flowers and her passion for sewing, making countless table runners and quilts. Her hobby of sewing even turned into her own business called “Lakeview Pines.” She shared her gift of sewing throughout the years with sentimental gifts/quilts that will be forever cherished.
Monica is survived by her father Clare Vincent (Sharol); husband Bob Barr; three children, Dustin Barr (Melissa); Jennifer “Jen” Hopkins (Jay); Jason Barr (Gabriella “Ella” Ricci); three grandchildren, Logan, Lorenzo and Laila Barr, and many other extended family members.

Carl David Benson of Oakland, MN passed away peacefully July 25, 2021.
Carl was born December 27, 1937 to Lewis and Olga (Haugen) Benson in Glasgow, Montana.
He was preceded in death by parents and brothers Raymond, Ernest and Paul.  Carl is survived by his brother John and wife Barbara Benson of Minnetonka; daughters, Cheri and husband Rick Webber of Austin MN, Nancy and husband Brian Berhow of Hayward, MN; son Jim and wife Karen Benson of Austin MN, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
During his life, Carl farmed, raised cattle, worked for Hormel and later started his own business Wallmasters. Carl had a huge spirit of adventure and curiosity. He traveled thousands of miles on his motor cycle touring the United States and Canada.  Carl enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling at his cabin in Northern MN. He rode horseback, enjoyed music and dancing, Johnny Cash was his favorite. Carl was very interested in history, he felt knowing and understanding it could help future generations make better choices. Carl was a fine, proud, stubborn, Norwegian,  and his family and friends will miss him dearly.

Ingeborg Anna Reindal - January 30, 1922 - July 24, 2021

Obituary Preview: Funeral services for Ingeborg Reindal will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, Minnesota.  Visitation will be at Bayview Funeral Home on Wednesday July 28 from 4-6 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Ingeborg Anna Reindal was born January 30, 1922, to Axel and Marie (Hansen) Skov in Pickerel Lake Township, Minnesota.  While Ingeborg was teaching country school for Oakland 33 and Mansfield 87 Districts she met Lloyd Irwin Reindal.  They were united in marriage on August 8, 1945, at the Alden Danish Lutheran Church.  Ingeborg’s church life and Christian faith were very important to her.
The couple worked on the family dairy farm with Lloyd’s parents, brothers and their son David for many years.  Ing was never afraid to get dirty in the barns and field and worked just as hard as the men.  As her children grew older and began leaving home, Ing started working as a home health aide for Freeborn County and a substitute teacher for the Alden-Conger School District.
One of Ing’s favorite careers was overseeing Alden’s SEMCAC Senior Nutrition program for many years.  She took such pride in her work and felt that socialization was just as important as nutrition for seniors.  The Alden Senior Center was always full of fun and laughter when she was around.  From teaching school and caring for others in her home health work and Senior Dining, to making beautifully personalized wedding and birthday cakes, gardening, ceramics, quilting, embroidery and serving on a multitude of clubs and committees, Ingeborg brought sunshine and love to the lives of so many.
The greatest loves of her life though, were Lloyd, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She always made it a point to spend time with each grandchild, taking an interest in whatever they were doing and making them feel special.
Ingeborg Reindal is survived by daughters Brenda (Bud) Davies, Joan (Doyle) Freemyer, LeAnn (Steve) Kline, and David (Sara) Reindal; grandchildren Melissa (Andy) Craig, Amy (Kevin) King, Molly Block, Maggie (Rand) Ackerman, Tara (Joe) Perriello, Sam Reindal, and Christine Reindal; and eight great-grandchildren; sister Eunice Johnsrud and brother Arnie Skov; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kurt Farrell will officiate.  Burial will be at Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn, MN.  Visitation will be held at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Ramona Ann (Kunerth) Nelson, age 73, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2021 at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater.
Ramona was born September 4, 1947 in Worthington, MN to Joe and Esther (Eichstadt) Kunerth.  She graduated from Fulda High School in 1965 and married her high school sweetheart, best friend, and love of her life, Sam Nelson, on June 14th, 1969.  They were married for 52 years and were blessed with 5 children and 14 grandchildren.
Ramona and Sam moved to Freeborn, MN in 1969.  Ramona was a homemaker for many years and then worked for First State Bank of Freeborn.  She also spent many hours working at Sam’s side at Oakview Golf Course and was known for her wonderful cooking and baking at the many events she catered there.  More than anything she loved being a wife, mom and grandma.  She was quick to listen, took a sincere interest in the lives of others, and had a way of making people feel special.  She loved to pray for others and share with them her love for Jesus. He was her peace, hope and joy and we know she is now at rest with Him.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Sam Nelson, five children, Bill (Jill) Nelson of Burnsville, Mindy (Dave) Heine of Eden Prairie, Joe (Andrea) Nelson of Albert Lea, Misty (John) Zacharias of Medford, Lisa (Mark) Schroeder of Ham Lake, 14 grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, and Alice Nelson, Breanne, Megan and Nathan Heine, Justine Nelson, Courtney, Carter and Chaise Harmdierks, Max and Samantha Schroeder and August and Amelia Zacharias.  Siblings Korrine (Don) Pawlitschek of Lake Crystal, Tresa Olson of Savage, Tom (Kathy) Kunerth of Griffin, GA, Pat Kunerth of Mankato, Rita (Steve) Welsh of Centerville, SD, sister-in-law Erma Kunerth of Fulda, and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Esther Kunerth, her brother, Bill Kunerth, brother-in-law, Dale Olson, and infant nephews, Gregory and Steven Kunerth.
She spent the last two years of her life at New Perspectives Senior Living in Faribault with Sam.  We are grateful for the loving care she received there.

Obituary Preview: Jonathan Bosma passed away July 21, 2021. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, August 2, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 PM on Sunday, August 1 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service on Monday.  Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons.
Jonathan Lee Bosma was born November 27, 1989 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN to parents Doug and Carol Bosma.
He was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea.
He attended Lakeview Elementary School, Southwest Middle School and Albert Lea Senior High School.  He graduated in 2008.  From there he attended St. Cloud State University.
People always want to know what did they die from, when they pass so young.  We don’t know what Jonathan died from at this time.  What we do know is that Jonathan is gone.  He was loved by his family and friends and he left his mark on this world.
He loved disc golf, tennis and basketball.  He loved extended family gatherings.  He especially loved his cousins.  He enjoyed his job at the post office and was a hard worker.
He was a loving sensitive son, he loved his brother and he had dreams of his own family someday.
He is survived by his parents Doug and Carol Bosma of Emmons, MN.  One brother Michael Bosma of Albert Lea, MN, and his Kitty Smokey.  His maternal aunts and uncles, Dennis Koenecke, Charles Stroup, Jane & Marc Bell,   Paternal Aunts and Uncles Deborah and Mark Meuser, David Bosma and Denise and Dan Clark.  Cousins Bridget (Scott) Epps, Nathan Stroup, Sara Koenecke, Amy (Tom) Johnson, Kyle (Felicia) Koenecke, Amanda (Michael) Tomlinson, Melissa Bell, Eric (Corbin) Bell, Brittany (Michael) Lehrke , Megan Meuser, Jamison Clark, Tyler Clark, Brayden Clark and Wyatt Clark. As well as other extended family.
He is proceeded in death by his infant brother William Thomas Bosma, Maternal Grandparents Elvin and Mardelle Stroup, Paternal Grandparents Virgil Bosma, and Vivian Bosma.  His Aunt Barbara Koenecke.
