Obituary Preview: Gregory Ellis Welch, age 55, of Gamaliel, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was born on September 5, 1965, to the late Harold Welch and Mary Joyce Lawhorn. He attended Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Greg was a member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge and an avid outdoorsman. He worked for Emberton Cabinet Shop for 24 years.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Joyce Lawhorn, and his step-father, Doug Lawhorn; his wife, Charolette Welch; one daughter, Mary Katheryne Ragland and husband Corey of Cookeville, Tennessee; two sisters, Angie Welch Spickard, and Kim Haase and husband J.D.  both of Bowling Green; two brothers, Nathan Welch of Gamaliel and Adam Welch of Tompkinsville; three nieces, Taylor Brent and husband Kendrick, Samantha Haase and Ava Welch; one nephew, Shane Spickard and wife Katie; one great-niece Winnie Spickard also survives.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Welch.
Funeral services will 1:00 pm Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel with burial in Freedom # 2 Cemetery. Bro. Tim Eaton will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2021, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday morning after 8:00 am until time for the service at 1:00 pm.
Masonic Rites will be performed Friday, February 19, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.
Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Welch.

Obituary Preview: Candace Ann White, age 56, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away February 8, 2021, at the Monroe County Medical Center. She was born on August 8, 1964, the daughter of Floyd and Margie (Rouse) White. She was an avid animal lover and especially her cat Missy.
Candace grew up in Nashville, the Mt. Juliet area, graduating from Mt. Juliet High School, and attended Western Kentucky University where she graduated with a degree in nursing. She spent the next 30 years working as a critical care nurse at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was saved at the age of eight years old and was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church but had been attending the Church of the Living God locally.
She is survived by her parents, Floyd and Margie White of Tompkinsville; one niece, Taylor Denise White of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, who was the apple of her eye; one special friend, Darlene McPherson of Clarksville, Tennessee; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Daniel White; grandparents, Paul and Norvella Rouse and Oscar and Lou White.
There will be no services locally, but a graveside service will be held in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee on Friday, February 12, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by four sisters, Lanajean Whiles, Sherri Walthall, both of Cave City, Melanie McGuire of Lampasas, Texas, and Heidi Burton of Glasgow; seven nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Debra Spear; one brother, Collin Whiles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Anderson-Bartley Gamaliel Chapel with burial in the Beautiful Home Cemetery. Gary Emberton will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 10:00 am until time for the service at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Spear, Joey Spear, Shawn McCreary, Brandon Walthall, Kirk Eakle, Bruce Tooley, Gene Brown, and Jason McClendon. The honorary Pallbearer will be Jim Lucas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Jimmy Brown; one brother, William Lozier.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on  Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at The Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel.  Visitation with the family will be held from Noon until the time for services at 2:00.

He was born on October 5, 1940, the son of the late Mitchell Bob Comer and Dorothy Jewell (Morgan) Comer. He married Betty Lynne Rich on June 16, 1962, who preceded him in death on July 4, 2018. He was a member of the Gamaliel Church of Christ. Voris served as Vice President of Gamaliel Deposit Bank for 33 years, and a Tobacco Farmer. He was devoted to bible studies, loved to grow tomatoes, garden, storytelling, and loved his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Butler and husband Darrell of Tompkinsville and Pamela Short and husband Chris of Glasgow; one son, Terry Comer and wife Melissa of Tompkinsville; one sister, Kathleen Hurd of Hendersonville, Tennessee; three brothers, Jerry Comer and wife Cathy of Gamaliel, Larry Comer and wife Darlene of Hermitage Springs, Tennessee and Carl Comer and wife Shelia of Tompkinsville; 11 grandchildren, Brittany Clarkson and husband Jeromy, Paige Hammer, Bailey & Jade Butler, TJ Williams and husband Logan, Kayla White and husband Chris, Hannah Comer and husband Jordan, Morgan Watson and husband Dakota, Savannah Lindsay and husband Casey, Gabby Martin and husband Zane and Dillon Short; 15 great-grandchildren, Jett, Jessup, Oriawna, Olivia, Levi, Liberty, Luke, Paisley, Easton, Ava, Maverick, Haidyn, Raelyn, Benjamin and Emory also survive.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by a step-father, Frank Carlton Comer, and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on January 29, 2021, at the Gamaliel Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Eric Pitcock will officiate the service.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Anderson Bartley Gamaliel Chapel from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday morning at Gamaliel Church of Christ from 8:00 am until time for the service at 12:00 noon.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Inell “Mammie Nell” Hammer, age 89 of The Rock Bridge Community, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021, at The Medical Center of Bowling Green.  She was born in Monroe County on May 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Jack and Debbie (Strode) Bartley.  She was united in marriage to Herman Reed Hammer who preceded her in death in 2010.  She loved and babysat many children over her eighty-nine years.  She was a faithful member of Phillipi Church of Christ, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and working in her flower beds.
She is survived by two daughters; Darlene Murphy of Summer Shade, Diane Turner of Mud Lick, and one son; Danny Hammer also of Summer Shade.  One sister; Mrs. Edith Cleary of Tompkinsville, nine grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Other than her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers; Billy, Ben, Leslie, and Lynn Bartley, three sisters; Dolly McMillian, Ida Thompson, and Nova Pearl Bartley, and one grandson, Troy Murphy.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hammer will be conducted on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will begin on Monday, after 5:00 p.m., and continue Tuesday morning after 8:00 and continue until time for services at 11.

He was born on August 20, 2000, the son of Scottie Ford and Kimberly (Graves) Ford. Nathaniel was a 2018 graduate of Monroe County High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on May 6, 2019. Nathaniel received an Army Service Ribbon, Combat and special skill basic marksmanship medal, an Army achievement medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Global War on Terrorism medal during his service time.  He married Haley Noella King on December 30, 2019. Nathaniel enjoyed gaming and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Kimberly (Graves) Ford of Tompkinsville; Scottie Ford and wife Joan of Glasgow, his wife, Haley Noella King; one son, Raiden Ford; one brother, Nathan Ford and wife Brittany of West Virginia; one sister, Kimber Ford of Tompkinsville; maternal grandmother, June Graves; paternal grandfather, James Ford also survives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Graves, and paternal grandmother, Corrine Ford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Bro. John Ford will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 10:00 AM until time for services at 4:00 PM.
A memorial headstone in honor of Nathaniel will be placed in the Mt. Poland Cemetery at a later date.

Joyce Nixon - March 18, 1939 - December 31, 2020

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Joyce Nixon, age 81 of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020, at The Monroe County Medical Center.  Joyce was born March 18, 1939, a daughter of the late Owen Belle, and Olene Halcomb Holland.
Joyce was a graduate of the Gamaliel High School, Class of 1956, she attended Western Kentucky University, earning her teaching certificate, and later taught at Gamaliel Elementary School.  She married Paul Wendell Nixon on September 10, 1959.  After they wed, the couple then built Tompkinsville Drug Company, where Joyce served as bookkeeper, also having worked for the Monroe County Water District for ten years.  Joyce was a devout member of The Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, serving on many committees over her membership. Joyce was an avid Bridge player, and enjoyed bowling, traveling with her family, and spending time on Dale Hollow Lake throughout the years.
Joyce is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Paul Wendell Nixon, two sons; Johnny Paul and his wife Jill of Bowling Green, Corey Nixon and his wife Wendy of Tompkinsville, one sister; Betty Jo Murphy of Gamaliel, two grandsons; Luke Nixon, and Fiancée Kelsey Johnson, and Spencer Nixon. One step-granddaughter, Makenna Rouse, one step-grandson, Landon Smith, and one step-great-grandchild, Luxley Smith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Susie Harlin, two brothers in law; William Harlin, Billy Murphy, and one great-niece, Molly Harlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, from the Chapel of Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

She was born in Allen County on March 21, 1943, to the late Ish Wilkerson and Sally (Woods) Wilkerson. Blanche retired from the US Postal Service and served as the postmaster at the Mt. Hermon Post Office until 2014.  She loved working in the garden and flower beds, being outside, and anything that involved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Grider of Mt. Hermon; one son, Craig Grider and wife Christy of Mt. Hermon; three grandchildren, Mikayla Walden and husband Ben, Maddie Grider and John Dicken; three sisters, Jessie Green and husband Kenneth of Ohio, Josie Elmore of Glasgow, and Margaret Paris of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jewell Hurt; four brothers, Jay, Freddie, Hascal, and Dascal Wilkerson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
Graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Lawn in Glasgow.

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Betty Frances (Rich) McIntyre, 72, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully, Friday morning December 18, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on May 16, 1948, the daughter of the late Elzie Duncan and Dollie Ree (Crowe) Rich.  Betty was raised by her “Mammie” Ova Mae Grace Rich.   Betty worked in sewing factories, and retail stores throughout the years.  She enjoyed gardening, but more than anything her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Betty is survived by three daughters; Pamela Hammer and husband Eddie, Kelli Cornelius and husband Jonathan, both of Tompkinsville, and Sherrie Tyree and husband Brian of Scottsburg, Indiana, one sister; Jo Ann Dickman of Gainesboro, Tennessee, seven grandchildren; James (Cyndll) Tyree, Richton Hammer, Jairus Tyree, Rhea Ann (John) Jackson, Jadda Tyree, James Isaac Brooks, Khloe Cornelius, and Kela Cornelius, to be delivered any day. One great-granddaughter; Roxie Tyree also survives.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her “Mammie,” Ova Mae Grace Rich, one brother; Roger Rich, and the father of her youngest child; Bobby McIntyre.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, all services will be private.  A private family visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Burial will be in the Moore Cemetery in Moss, Tennessee.

He was born on May 29, 1949, the son of the late Floyd Miller Combs and Clara Bell (Dyer) Combs. He was retired from Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company and Mid-South Auto. Eugene was an usher for the UK 101 club, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Frankfort, and an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Bell (Dyer) Combs of Tompkinsville; one son, Jason Combs of Frankfort; one daughter, Molly Bailey of Frankfort; one sister, Edie Huddleston of Louisville; one grandson, Taylor Adams of Frankfort; one great-grandson, Nolan Adams also survives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Miller Combs.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 14th at Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Lawn. Jason Thompson will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Monday, December 14th from 11:00 am until time for the services at 1:00 pm.

Obituary Preview: Murrell Terry Thompson, age 75 of The Hestand Community of Monroe County, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.  He was born in Hestand, Kentucky on October 6, 1945, a son of the late Walter B. and Zora Mae (Jackson) Thompson.  Terry was united in marriage to Sandra Ann Burks on October 26, 1968.  Terry was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School in 1963, Proudly served in the United States Army and retired from General Electric before moving back to Tompkinsville. He was a member of the American Legion Post, and enjoyed farming after his retirement.
Terry is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Sandra Ann (Burks) Thompson; one daughter Lily Thompson (Curt Harden) of Central, South Carolina; one brother, David Thompson and wife June of Gallatin, Tennessee; one sister, Pamela Garmon (James Johnson) of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, two brothers in law; Darin Burks of Glasgow, and Doug Burks and his wife Sandy of Tompkinsville, two sisters in law Paula Hall and husband Scotty of Red Boiling Springs, and Brenda Burks of Tompkinsville.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Steve Thompson, three sisters; Fannie Marie Thompson, Linda Lou Thompson, and Virginia Peggy Cleary, two brothers in law; Ricky Burks and Terry Burks.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from the Chapel of Anderson-Bartley Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in The Bailey Cemetery.  Military Honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 out of Glasgow.
Visitation will begin on Monday, December 14 after 5:00 p.m., and continue on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00 p.m.

She is survived by two sisters, Sue Marcum and Jackie Alexander both of Tompkinsville; one special niece; Cheri Dawn Marcum, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Mansfield, Josephine Price, and Louise Pitcock; five brothers, Stone, Lenneth, Cecil, Roger, and Howard McCreary.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time as cremation was chosen by Ms. McCreary.  A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Candy Kay (Birge) Strong; one daughter, Sandra Strong and Robert Conner of Tompkinsville; one son, Royce Strong and Kyna Capps of Tompkinsville; two brothers, Robert Strong and, Roger Strong of Gamaliel; one sister, Barbara Ferguson, and husband Bobby of Tompkinsville; two sisters-in-law, Trula Strong and Sue Strong; five grandchildren, Laura Strong and Hunter Madison, Kailee Strong and Jamison Woodcock, Madison and Cameron Roderick, Mason Strong, and Kali Capps all of Tompkinsville; one great-granddaughter, Brendalyn Madison; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Rondell Strong; two nieces, Candida Ferguson and Jakayla Howard.
