Obituary Preview: Richard A. Fuller, Sr., 75, of Homer, NY, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in Cortland, NY, on May 17, 1942, Richard was the son of George and Jennie “June” Peppin Fuller.  A lifelong resident of the area, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He retired from Petral, Inc. after 16 years of service and prior to that had worked at SUNY Cortland.  He was a member of the McGraw Volunteer Fire Department and the Blodgett Mills Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Fuller; and his three children, Colleen (Dale) Losaw of McGraw, Richard (Nicole) Andrew Fuller II of SC, and Joleen Fuller of Otisco Lake.  He also leaves behind his mother, June Fuller, of McGraw; grandchildren, Scot, Jessica, Andrew, Kristen, Sage, and Kiernan; great-grandchildren, Logan, Trenton, and Lillyanne; brothers, Donald “Bull” Fuller of McGraw and Raymond (Kathy) Fuller of DeRuyter Lake; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends including John and Sam Morse and Billy Morse. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his siblings, Robert “Beansie,” Carol, and Thomas “Tom Cat.”
A graveside service will be held at the McGraw Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor John Hartman officiating.  There will be no prior calling hours or funeral service.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Richard may be directed to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Frederick L. Haven II - March 17, 1964 - June 07, 2017

Obituary Preview: Frederick L. Haven II, 53, of Syracuse, NY, and formerly of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at his home.
Fred was born in Cortland, NY, on March 17, 1964, a son of Frederick and Alice Brown Haven.  He was a 1982 graduate of McGraw Central School and continued on to receive his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cortland.  He had been employed at Smith-Corona for a brief period before entering the U.S. Army where he worked in army intelligence.  He had also served as the Solon Town Supervisor.  Most recently and for the past 20 years he had been employed by Axa Financial in Syracuse.  An avid gun collector, Fred was a member of the local gun club in Syracuse.
He is survived by his father, Frederick Haven, of McGraw; and his brothers, Tracy and Patrick Haven, both of McGraw.  He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Alice Haven.
A memorial service will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kathy Lee officiating.  Burial will be in McGraw Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:00 a.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Fred may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, 731 James Street, #200, Syracuse, NY 13201.

Obituary Preview: Lester H. Bordwell, 79, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home.
Born in Union Valley, NY, on February 3, 1938, Lester was the son of the late Glen and Irene Fiske Bordwell.  Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Overhead Door of Cortland for 40 years.  Lester’s true love was his farm where he raised Holstein Herefords.  You often found him outside mending fences and bailing hay.
He is survived by his children, Sherry (Thomas Phillips) Bordwell of Pensacola, FL; Laurie (Michael Anderson) Zirbel of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Sue (John) Sammis of Ithaca; and Dave Bordwell of Cortland.  He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde (Eleanor) Bordwell of Tully; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sharon Winfield Bordwell in 2002; a nephew, Christopher Bordwell; and a son-in-law, Brian Zirbel.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Barth Funeral Home, McGraw, NY, on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  A graveside service will immediately follow at McGraw Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lester may be directed to the McGraw Fire Department, 7 West Center St., McGraw, NY 13101, where he was a member for many years.

Born in Cortland, NY, on November 7, 1949, David was the son of the late George, Sr., and Eloise Leonard Treacy.  He retired from Higgins Supply in June 2015 after 15 years of service.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the VFW, Cortland American Legion Post #489, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Cortland and McGraw Fire Departments.
He is survived by his children, Nancy (Christopher Haynes) Todd of Cincinnatus and David L. (Kimberly) Treacy, Jr. of S. Plymouth.  He also leaves behind his significant other, Linda Monk, of Cortland; stepchildren, Patricia Badman-Marshall of Norfolk, VA and Jodi (William Hanmer) Badman of Syracuse; a sister, Robin (Robert Ottenschot) Terwilliger of Homer; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Treacy, on June 22, 2015; a brother, George Treacy, Jr.; and a sister, Linda Greene.
A graveside service of military honors will be held at the McGraw Cemetery on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at the VFW, 76 Main St., Cortland, NY.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of David may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans, 91 Owego St., McGraw, NY 13101.

Born in Cortland, NY, on May 21, 1926, Mrs. Heath was the daughter of the late Richard and Blanche Pierce Rogers.  A resident of McGraw for most of her life, she had been employed as a sewing machine operator for Vesta Corset, then worked at the McGraw Box Company, lining silverware and jewelry boxes and later worked at Central Paper Box.  She was a member of the Skyline Radio Club of Cortland, Binghamton Radio Club, and SVARA Radio Club.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Malcolm and Bonnie Ann Heath, of Cortland; three grandchildren; Alene, Cortland, Mellora (Doug) Paucke of Ithaca, and Derron (Manetta) of Cortland, five great-grandsons, and a brother-in-law, four sisters-in-laws and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews..
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Heath, in 2010; and a brother and his wife, Harry and Marlene Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at the Barth Funeral Home, McGraw, NY, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. preceded with calling hours at 10:30 a.m.  Reverend Allan Ferguson will be officiating.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Heath may be directed to the Cortland City Fire Department, 25 Court Street, Cortland, NY 13045.

Obituary Preview: Myra Osborne VanEpps, 102, of McGraw, NY, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in Willet, NY, on March 20, 1915, Mrs. VanEpps was the daughter of the late Louis and Dorothy Sternbergh Johnson Osborne.  A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the McGraw United Methodist Church and a member of the Philathea Class of the church.  She retired from Higgins Supply, McGraw, in 1977.  In 1979, she moved to North Port, FL, and then back to McGraw in 2006.  She served as a girl scout leader for several years.  She and her late husband, Waldo, enjoyed square dancing.  An avid quilt maker, Mrs. VanEpps made a quilt for each one of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Lucille (Paul Merihew) McKee of Marathon, Janice (Richard) Allis of Cortland, Sarah (Eric) Snow of Marathon, and David (Diane) VanEpps of McLean.  She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Waldo, in 1997; a sister, Arlene Osborne in 1919; and brothers, Wayland Osborne in 2000 and Harvey Osborne in 2015.
A memorial service will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church, McGraw, NY, on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with her pastor, Reverend Cathy Lee, officiating.  Burial will be in McGraw Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church prior to the service on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. VanEpps may be directed to the McGraw United Methodist Church, 20 E. Carl A. Robison - September 16, 1944 - April 13, 2017

Obituary Preview: Carl A. Robison, 72, of Scott, NY, died Wednesday, April 13, 2017, at peace now, answered prayer by his loving Lord. Carl was born September 16, 1944, the son of the late Clarence and Harriett Yocum Robison.  He was a member of Scott United Methodist Church.  During his employment, Carl worked in areas of the dairy industry, retiring from Eastern Milk Producers, and then retiring in 2008 after twenty years with the Homer Central School District.  He was well-known in the area for his talent in detailing vehicles, taking great pride in how he completed each one.  Carl was like a magnet with his love for children of all ages.  As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.”
Carl is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda Cross Robison, daughter Teresa and son-in-law Robert Sobolewski, daughter Laraine Robison; two granddaughters Stephanie and Alison Sobolewski; brothers, Robert (Nancy Kae) Robison and Ralph (Cheryl) Robison; sisters, Dawn (Stephen) Pitcher, Debbie (Stephen) Remenyi, Lori (Thomas) Burczynski, Erin Robison, and Anita (Winfield) Crouthamel; also by his in-laws:  Richard (Diana) Cross, Janette (Michael) Smith, Charles (Deborah) Cross, Bonnie (Harl) Thomas, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his in-laws, Kenneth and Dora Cross and Steven Cross.

Born in St. Paul, NE, of May 28, 1931, Jean was the daughter of the late Hilton and Lena Suponchick Petersen.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Smith-Corona and also worked part-time at McGraw Box.  She would spend her spare time at the McGraw Elementary School where she was involved with an after school reading program.  She was also a member of the Pen Pal Club of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Doug) Burnham of Cortland, George (Lori) Mowry of Cortland, Rick Mowry of Ithaca, Louis (Barb King) Mowry of Summerfield, FL, and Michael (Mitzi) Mowry of McGraw.  She also leaves behind a sister, Bonnie Coon of Baldwinsville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Obituary Preview: Robert “Raz” L. Freeman, 41, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, after becoming ill at home.
Born in Cortland, NY, on March 12, 1975, Raz was the son of Leon “Bubby” and Carol Widger Freeman.  A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1993 graduate of McGraw Central School and a graduate of IT&T Technologies in Liverpool, NY.  He was extremely proud to serve as a dispatcher for the Cortland County 911 Center and, prior to that, as a dispatcher for TLC.  He had also worked as a technician for RTE Electronics Shop.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the McGraw Sportsman’s Club.  He had also served as Mayor for the Village of McGraw.  A warm-hearted, people-person, Raz had a passion for NASCAR, especially the race at Watkins Glen.  He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his parents, Leon “Bubby” and Carol Widger Freeman, of McGraw; and his paternal grandmother, Bessie Freeman, of McGraw.  Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including Carrie Knight, Krissy Maricle, and Stacey Harris; and his best friend and basset hound, Ace.
Funeral services will be held at the Barth Funeral Home, McGraw, NY, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Archie Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery at a later date.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Raz may be directed to the McGraw Fire Department, 7 W. Michelle was born in Ithaca, NY, on March 20, 1982, the daughter of Michael and Janette Cross Smith.  She attended McGraw Central School and received her Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Coastal Carolina Institute.  Michelle was currently in the process of obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Marketing.  She had recently relocated from Columbia, SC, to Grand Island, NY, for her employment at DHL Global Forwarding.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Janette Smith, of McGraw; a brother, Joseph Favaloro, of Columbia, SC; a sister, Meaghan Smith, of Berkshire; and a niece, Andrionna “Andi” Favaloro.
Funeral services will be held at the Barth Funeral Home, McGraw, NY, on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend John Aukema officiating.  Burial will be in McGraw Cemetery at a later date.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Michelle may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.

Born in McGraw, NY, Mrs. Wilder was the daughter of Vernon and Lois Stone Williams.  She had lived in Syracuse for many years.  She has been a member of the McGrawville Baptist Church for over 70 years.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and canning vegetables from her garden.
She is survived by her nieces, Sharon Noonan of East Northport, NY and Bonnie Kedjierski of Oriental, NC; a nephew, Wayne Williams of Tallasse, AL; and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Maurford Wilder, and her brother, Merle Williams.

Charles Matthew Chavoustie, Sr. - January 01, 1935 - January 09, 2017

Obituary Preview: Charles Matthew Chavoustie, Sr., 82, of McGraw, NY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born in Three Mile Bay, NY , on January 1, 1935, the son of the late Julia and Earl Chavoustie.  Charles attended Lyme Central School and in 1959, he married Ruth Block, and together they created a loving family.  Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean War.  He sold life insurance for forty years as an agent and following his retirement, he worked at Dryden Central Schools.  Charles was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cortland; a proud member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree; past member of the Three Mile Bay Fire Department; and Bald Mountain Hunting Club in Croghan, NY.  Charles truly loved life and enjoyed all the holidays and family gatherings.  He loved hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.  He also loved playing cards and especially cherished time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth; and his children, Charles (Suzanne), Andrew (Debra), Teresa (Lee) Ripley, Mary (Todd) Caufield, Patricia (Mark) Helms, Rebecca (Blaine) Davis, and his beloved son, Timmy.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Julia, Andrew, Jr., Kira (David), Stephen (Angelique), Seth, Hunter, Melissa, Taylor, and Michael; a great-granddaughter, Stella; and a sister, Norma Grant of Cape Vincent.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Francis, and a sister, Eleanor Klock.

Mr. Beardsley was born in Dalton, NY, on January 16, 1926, a son of the late Harry and Florence “Flossie” Mehlenbacher Beardsley.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as an engineer at Rochester Products, Stromberg Carlson, General Dynamics, and Xerox Corporation.  In his spare time, he was an active bridge player and enjoyed hunting, camping, trips to Florida, and most importantly, his family.
He is survived by his children, Susan (Douglas) Deer of Cortland; Randy W. (Jean) Beardsley of San Jose, CA; and Jeffrey A. (Patti) Beardsley of Geneseo.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, David (Christy) Deer of Seattle, WA; Katherine (Dale) Dart of Homer; Nicki Beardsley of Geneseo; and Kristen Beardsley of Geneseo; along with six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joane W. Beardsley, on April 3, 2016, and a son, Alex G. Beardsley, on December 11, 2009; two sisters and one brother.

Born on November 4, 1988 in Cortland, NY, Seth was the son of Andrew J. and Debra L. Smith Chavoustie.  Seth was an avid musician.  He customized guitars and composed his own music and lyrics along with his lifetime band mate and brother, Andrew J. Chavoustie, Jr.  Seth was gifted in many ways; he was also an amazing artist who painted many beautiful works of art.  A loving, kind, and gentle young man with a great sense of humor and brilliant mind, Seth was a treasure and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his parents, Andrew and Debra and his siblings, sister, Julia M. Chavoustie and brother, Andrew J. Chavoustie, Jr.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cortland, NY, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Joseph Zareski as celebrant.  The family has requested that memorial donations in Seth’s memory be made to an organization to support art and music.

Obituary Preview: Michael L. DeHart, 60, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Mike was born in Cortland, NY on December 7, 1955, the son of James DeHart and the late Eleanor White DeHart.  He was a 1974 graduate of McGraw Central School where he was an avid and accomplished member of the soccer and basketball teams.  Mike was employed as a construction foreman by Morton Buildings for 35 years and then continued construction projects for many friends and family.  In his spare time, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known to enjoy making maple syrup, operating his band saw and digger truck.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Michael B. He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Burdick, in 1975, and his beloved bloodhound, Red, in 2016.

Born in Cortland, NY, on September 4, 1942, Leon was the son of the late George and Bernice Northrup Beattie.  A lifelong resident of the area, he retired from Highgate Nursing Home in 2002 after many years of dedicated service.  For several years, he was a foster parent to many children in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Glassford Beattie; and his children, Robin Beattie of Cortland, Lisa (Farmer) Pittsley of Cincinnatus, Bobbi Jo (Chuck) Brown of McGraw, and Scott Beattie of Solon.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Carol) Beattie of McGraw; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Laurence, Rodney, and Rockwell Beattie; and a sister, Frances Higgins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Gates Kimberly; and their son, Robert Kimberly and his wife, Caroline, and their daughter, Zoe.  He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Roger Davis, of McGraw; and her children, Brian (Lisa) Davis of McGraw, and Karen (Adam) Cornell of Freeville.  She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Jordan Davis and Emerson Cornell; brothers, Ronald (Debbie) Searls of Brookville, PA and Daniel (Cheryl) Searls of Groton; sisters-in-law, Dottie Searls and Patty Davis, both of Cortland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece, Theresa (Troy) Beckwith of Cortland; and a close friend, Joseph Camillo, of Cortland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James Searls, in 2010.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Edith Davis, in 1984.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Morton E. Parsons, in 2001, and a sister, Catherine Nauman.

He loved to hunt, fish, and camp including at Knoble’s camp on North Lake.  He and his wife enjoyed attending the annual trapper’s convention at Piseco Lake.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Noreen “Tootie” Boyce, his grandchildren Jackie (Jeff) Maxson, Howard (Renee) Boyce, Bob (Loretta) Lilly, Lynette (Stephen) Furlin, Paul Thompson, Colleen (Jeff) Rynders, and Tami Linger.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Kneedler; and his children, Rhonda (Dan) McLaughlin of Summerhill, Charles Kneedler of Cortland, Renee Messina of AL, Shelley (William) Knickerbocker of Solon, and Jason Kneedler of McGraw.  He also leaves behind seven grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
