Departed: 04/15/2024 (MANASSAS)
Obituary Preview: Lewis “Ray” Trail of Manassas VA passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 15th, 2024. Ray was 87 years old but lived like he was only 60 until recently. Ray was born to Lewis and Annie Mae Trail of Floyd, Virginia. Ray was a hard worker from the day he was born; working on his father’s farm along with his 9 siblings. After graduating from high school he joined the Army and was stationed in Alaska where he served as a military police
officer. After his service in the army, he married Bridget Trail and they raised 3 daughters - their 3 pearls. He was employed as a Fairfax County Police Officer until the birth of his first child. He then changed careers and drove a bus for Trailways although his desire was to be an air traffic
controller. Ray achieved this goal and served at the Leesburg, Virginia control tower for 14 years. Ray had a generous, caring heart and wanted to serve his community, so at the age of 51, he
graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy. He served as a trooper for 20 years. Ray never ignored an opportunity to help someone in need whether it be family, friend or
neighbor. Those who knew him describe him as generous, dependable, caring and rock solid. He was a great man who adored his family. He was a big part of the lives of his many nieces
and nephews who often hailed him as their hero. He was a beloved father and a “poppy” who loved spending time with his family. When he
wasn’t hanging out with grandchildren, he could be found working on projects around the house. He loved to travel, especially taking cruises - 15 in all! He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Bridget Trail. He is survived by 3 sisters, Lena Shelor, Marlene Jones and Peggy Casey; 3 daughters: Deborah Burroughs and her husband Neal; Maria Hawkey and her husband Andy; Jennifer Innamorato and her husband Andy; 12
grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Daddy, your passing has left a void that can never be filled. Go rest high on that mountain with all of your loved ones who have gone before you. Save us all a spot in heaven until we meet
again.

Janet Marie Jacobs - September 02, 1942 - April 09, 2024

Departed: 04/09/2024 (MANASSAS)
Obituary Preview: Janet Marie Jacobs
Born September 2, 1942, in Fargo ND.
Passed April 9, 2024, in Nokesville, VA surrounded by family. We honor our loving, funny, beautiful, thoughtful, inspiring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and most importantly our best friend, Janet Marie Jacobs. Known for her hummingbird-like work ethic… mom was the engine that drove
our family and was the center of our universe. Professional pancake maker, instructor, and archivist of family recipes. Lover of all animals, dogs, horses, and especially birds. She was a natural humanitarian who became the mother of all she encountered. She was the white light inside us, the kindest, gentlest, selfless soul that always surrounded us with unconditional love. Mom was the first person we called when we needed anything… help, advice, a recipe or just to talk, she was a true source of confidence
and emotional stability. Mom was the family artist, teacher, and mentor… we all aspire to be like her in every aspect of our lives. With Janet, it was the little things, she would draw cartoon notes of encouragement and put them into our lunches to let us know that she loved us… a tradition we carried on with
our children. Janet grew up in Fargo ND with parents Harry and Evelyn Baker, the middle sibling between Ken and Susan. She moved to the DC area in 1960 to work for the CIA and met her husband Daniel on vacation in Ocean City, MD. They married on November 24th, 1961 and soon after
started a family. Raising four children wasn’t enough for Janet, she had a passion for helping others and holistic healing, so she ventured into the homeopathic world with The Healing Tree, a natural health consulting company she ran for 25 years. Mom was never interested in turning a profit, instead,
she wanted to help as many people as possible.
She was truly one of a kind, a saint-like person who constantly put others first and herself last. Her legendary generosity towards every soul was her most defining trait… unconditional love
spread wide and far. Janet attended North Carolina Wesleyan College, and George Mason University and is a graduate of the Humboldt Institute and the School of Natural Health. She was a Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP), Doctor of Naturopathy (ND), Certified Nutritional Counselor (CNC), Master Herbalist, and Iridologist, all while being the CFO and EVP of The Federal Market Group, a consulting firm. Later in life, she found so much joy as the bookkeeper for Mercedes’
Salon - Three Ways Beautiful. We are all devastated by this loss but are happy to know that she made her way back to the source. The source that she so often referenced and spoke about. The positive energy flowing through the universe that is shared by all of us and connects us to our soul group, a connection we will search for and find through eternity. She often said that Mercedes was once her mother in a past life and we will all be blessed to continue through this journey connected, souls
intertwined.
She will be missed but her impact will continue to be felt for generations. Janet is survived by her family… Husband Daniel;
Four children, Deana and husband Donald, Mercedes, Daniel II, Adam, and wife Bethany. Nine grandchildren: Joshua, Shane, Megan, Austin, Madison, Lillyan, Daniel III, Bodhi, and Jolene, and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Brayden, and Kai. Her sister Susan Nagel, husband David, sisters-in-law Janice Baker and Wilma Jane Sanderson, and nephews Kevin,
Eric, Sean, EC, Bruce, Ronnie, and Christopher.
We love you mom… forever. “So when tomorrow starts without me Don’t think we’re far apart For every time you think of me I’m right here in your heart” Hey Mom, Jeopardy is on… Celebrating the life of Janet this Saturday, April 13th 3-6 pm at Mercedes’ house. With a
remembrance ceremony at 430pm.
10307 Schaeffer Lane, Nokesville, VA 20181.
