Obituary Preview: Edward Lee West, a proud Mississippian, passed away peacefully at the age of 58. Born and raised in Mississippi, he cherished his roots and was a true embodiment of Southern hospitality. Edward's love for his state was only rivaled by his love for his country, as seen through his dedicated service in the US Army. An avid sportsman, Edward found joy in playing softball, bowling, and grilling delicious meals for his loved ones. His skills as an electrician were well-known, and he took great pride in his work. A true jack of all trades, there was nothing Edward couldn't fix or build. Above all, Edward valued time spent with his family, often enjoying the outdoors or simply relaxing on his porch, admiring nature's beauty. His warm smile and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Edward West leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a deep love for his family and country.
He was preceded in death by his father, George West.
He is survived by his children, Josh West (Mary), Candace Browning (Matthew), Mikey West (Amanda), Chandler West, and Braxton West; mother, Dora; sisters, Doris Smith and Paula Pace; brother, Carl West; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; and other extended family and friends.

Doug enjoyed sending time with family and friends and attending Connect Church. He loved to travel, especially visiting historical places and every Air Force base museum. He loved exploring the beach and mountains and building model planes and rockets.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Faye Knotts; parents Fletcher and Myrna Knotts; grandparents Channing and Inez (Monroe) Knotts, Millard and Josie (Tooley) Adkins; and brother Ken Knotts.
Survivors include his wife Joan Kite Knotts; beloved son David Kite (Radonna); beloved daughters Whitney Kite Ledbetter (Edward), Rebecca Nipper Fugate (Taylor); his grandchildren Conner Ledbetter, Ethan Ledbetter, Kade Kite, Charles Fugate and James Fugate. In addition, he is survived by his sister Margie Baeumel (Keith); sister-in-law Connie Knotts; brother-in-law Brian Johnson (Sandy); sister-in-law Cynthia Geisel (Bill); as well as nieces and nephews Allen, Nathan, Mandy, Dakota, Micah, Keira, Allie, Joel, Hunter, Bryson, Nate, Drew, Dan, Ben, Dave, Josh, Adam and Steve Wood, his Air Force best friend.

Obituary Preview: Jacqueline Parsons “Jackie” Reed, age 83 of Sevierville, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed helping and volunteering with church bake sales and fundraisers. Jackie graduated from Sevier County High School in 1958 and later Knoxville Business College. She worked as a secretary for many Sevierville attorneys. She worked longest for Charlie Johnson at Johnson, Murrell and Associates, where she met and made many friends. After retirement, she worked in the deli at Food City in Sevierville.
Jackie loved her church family and friends and cherished her grandchildren with an undying love and affection. She enjoyed playing the organ, following in the footsteps of her mother, Ola Parsons. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening and quilting. She always had a huge smile on her face that lit up the room and she will be remembered by many.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband Arthur (Jim) Reed, parents Earnest and Ola Latham Parsons, grandparents Laben and Jane Latham and brother-in-law Carlon White, and special friends Conrad and Phyllis Jett.
Survivors include her son Richard Lynn Reed; daughter Rebecca Jane Reed-Nelson and husband Billy Nelson; grandchildren Brittany Reed, Brook Lippi, Andrew Newman, Zack Newman (Kelsey); great-grandchildren Greyson Fink, Sinclair and Miles Lippi, Rock Newman and Saphire Newman. In addition, she is survived by her sister Earnestine White; niece Carlene Maples (Marvin); and special grandpuppy Honey (Cotton Top).

He retired from GATX, which he dearly loved, where he was awarded Best Employee of the Year and won a trip to Hawaii. He was transferred to Cleveland Tennessee where he opened an office with GATX in Copper Hill, TN servicing rail cars as a Mobile Unit Field Foreman. He had many GATX friends with whom he continued to stay in touch including Tony, Gerard, and Leroy. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He especially loved his children and would do anything for them. Frank loved his polish food and baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church in Cleveland.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis; parents Antoni and Mary Pilarczyk; siblings Stanley, Anne, Jane, Lydia, Alice, and Jimmy; children Frankie, Jr., Christine, and Lisa.
He is survived by his children Dave; grandchildren Christopher, Kyle, Joe Jr., David, Corey, Courtney; and 8 great grandchildren; and partner in life Alice.

He was a retired mine inspector with Mine Safety and Health Administration, as well as many years with ASARCO zinc mines. He was a member of Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church, loved the Lord and loved to sing his praises for many years with family and friends. Most recently he sang with the Scrap Iron Quartet. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by parents Odell and Martha Underwood, stepmother Daisy Underwood, brother Raymond (Shirley) Underwood, brothers-in-law Kenneth Pruitt, Royce Duke, and Virgil Clifton.

Though our hearts ache, we find solace in knowing she is always with us, her radiant smile etched in the hearts of all who knew her. Cheryl was a member of Lonsdale Baptist Church. She was a Wal-Mart employee for almost 30 years. Cheryl retired from ORNL Bank.
She was preceded in death by her mother Wanda William and sister Sonya Murphy.

He loved singing and praising the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. He spent many years as a truck driver, retiring from Tri-Star as a 2 time “10 Million Mile” safety driver. He also drove for Roadway Express, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and Disney on Ice. Homer also worked as a deputy for Sevier County Sheriff’s Department.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Ella Freels Howell, his father and mother Clyde Haskel and Lilly Mae Howell, sisters Louise Howell Helton, Kathleen Howell Townsend, and sister-in-law Nellie Freels Ford.
His survivors include his children: Homer Howell Jr., and Darlene Howell Smith and husband Charles Robin Smith; Brother: Donnie Ray Howell and wife Susan Howell; Sister-in-law: Mary Freels Price and husband Eddie Price; Grandchildren: Tiffany Barnett (husband Jonathan), Jason Smith (wife Carly), Trevor Smith (wife Katie) and Justin Lee Howell; Great grandchildren: Blake Barnett, Bryce Barnett, Bradley Barnett, Conner Lee Howell, Caitlin Howell, Everett Smith, and Josie Smith.

Charlotte Connor, age 92, of Gatlinburg, TN, passed away April 12, 2024. Her final days were spent surrounded by family. Charlotte touched many during her memorable life. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 16, 1931. Her family later moved to Coral Gables, Florida where she attended Ponce de Leon High School. She showed and rode horses and was a
member of Sunshine Circuit. She was a Florida State Reserve Champion. She later attended the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. In the 1950s, she and her husband Bob co-owned and operated Aunt Mahalia’s Candy Shop in downtown Gatlinburg. After many years of living in Florida, they returned to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains that they loved in the early 1970s where Charlotte worked at the ticket counter at Ober Gatlinburg for 20 years. During her retirement she
worked at the Gatlinburg Welcome Center. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years George (Bob) Connor, parents Charles R. and Mary Flossie Roberts, and sister Peggy Jean Roberts. Charlotte is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Candy and Mike Solly, Cindy and Kevin Ryan, and Marianne and Max Rytz; her grandchildren Christy and Matt Williams, Charlie and Jason Bradford, Jen and James Smith, Casey Ryan, Emily and Chad Lewis, and Connor and Hannah Claire Rytz; and her great-grandchildren Cate and Beck Williams, Megan and Madi Keck, Morgan, Kate, Josie, and Grant Smith, and Jack and Cooper Bradford. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Retha Connor; nephew Chuck Connor and family;
niece Christine Connor and several close “Alabama cousins”.
Charlotte loved her family and friends. She loved the chance to celebrate any and all occasions, especially when the occasion called for homemadeice cream. She enjoyed everyone being together. She was very proud of
her children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Charlotte was a garden enthusiast and could be found rearranging her yard and those of her children. No greenhouse was too far away to explore and no day was too hot to be working with her plants. Flowers, birds, and being outside were her greatest hobbies. In her retirement, she found a love of genealogy and spent hours researching and traveling to make connections with family members of both her and Bob. They both rekindled their love of
horses and enjoyed traveling to attend shows while visiting with friends.
Like Bob, she was a big golf fan and loved watching all the great players.
They enjoyed trips with family and friends to Callaway Gardens. Charlotte’s family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Lauren Polvino and the staff at UT Regional Health Center- Sevierville, who watched over her well being for many years. A special thank you to Dominion Senior Living and all of the nurses and staff for caring for her during her last few years. You treated her like family and she loved you like
family; we will always be grateful for you all.

Obituary Preview: Joseph H. “Joe” Ransome a resident of Wears Valley, TN passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2024 in Pigeon Forge, TN at the age of 81. A former resident of Baton Rouge, LA and native of Morganza, LA, Joe enjoyed the last 17 years in the peace, tranquility, and beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains with his beloved wife Ann! His dedication to God, wife and family were remarkable. He was a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard, a lifetime member of U.A. Local Union 198 Plumbers and Pipefitters assn., and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Elks. Joe was a devout Christian and loved his previous usher duties at Holy Cross Church in Pigeon Forge. He loved to be around people and the church allowed for him to give the gift of his beautiful personality to so many.
Joe grew up in Sportsman’s paradise, South Louisiana, where he loved to hunt and fish with his father, brother, and family. He was an avid athlete where he prospered in high school basketball. His chosen vocation of plumbing brought a solid foundation to his career, as he eventually started and ran a successful business. He taught trade school at night to multitudes of apprentices over the years and shaped their future careers.
Joe always loved the outdoors, and in retirement, he became a master vegetable and flower gardener in the fertile soils of East Tennessee. His annual garden was always the envy of the area, carefully manicured under the direction of his wife Ann’s tasteful manner. The beauty of the fruits of his labor were always a great pride for him. Keegan started going to concrete jobs at a young age with his “2nd dad”, Herb McCarter and “Uncle Phil” Phillip Burden and helping, then became employed by B&B Concrete. He worked with them his whole life and really enjoyed his job as a finisher. He also loved to hunt, mostly bear hunting. He liked hunting for ginseng, he’d say there is nothing like walking through the woods and seeing those 5 leaves and then digging to see what is under there. He would be so excited while he was digging. He got excited about UT football as well, and enjoyed watching them with his mom, Linda. He loved poking her about football and especially about Donald Trump. He was a member of Maples Branch Baptist Church. He fought a year long battle with kidney and liver failure.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keegan Thomas Proffitt, dad, Johnny Earl Proffitt, grandparents, Robert and June Myers and Von and Mary Proffitt. Obituary Preview: William (Bill) Love Dockery Bill Dockery, whose tenacious reporting and incisive editorial writing drew attention to injustice and heroism for decades in East Tennessee, died April 6 at his home in Knoxville at the age of 75. Bill was a tireless advocate for persons with disabilities, which led him to complete the course Partners in Policy Making and to accept then-Mayor Bill Haslam’s appointment to the Mayor’s Committee on Disability Issues (CODI.)
A graduate of Sevier County High School and Carson Newman College, he continued taking courses in creative writing at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and had a passion for both literature and journalism. Bill pursued and protected the written word.
Bill relished all his work, including two summers working asphalt for Blalock Construction; two summers as a zinc miner; two years as a magazine editorial consultant and writer for The United Methodist Publishing House; some time as a reporter for the Sevierville County News Record and the Gatlinburg Press, now the Mountain Press; and many years magazine editing and writing for The Upper Room.
He also worked in communications for Oak Ridge Associated Universities, and spent many especially happy years reporting, editorial writing, and editing for the Knoxville News Sentinel. His work also included editing and writing for Metropulse and science writing. For some years he worked in communications at the University of Tennessee, from which he retired, only to freelance all over town.
William Love Dockery is survived by his widow, Emalie Love Dockery; brother, Mike (Vonda Laughlin) Dockery; daughter, Haley Dockery; son, Marshall (Amber) Dockery; stepsons, Andrew (Alison) Egan and Ned (Tandra) Egan; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Braylee, and Tatum; as well as five step- granddaughters and two great-grandchildren, all of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. Dockery of Sevier County, where he served as Trustee for 16 years and Mary Lou Love Dockery of Jefferson County, a devoted elementary school teacher.
Bill’s life was enriched by a host of deep friendships. Donna Creech is an especially close friend who survives him.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 21, at Central United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue, 37917. Receiving of friends at 2:00 and memorial at 4:00.

James loved spending time with his family, walking at Metcalf Bottoms, and gardening-he could make anything grow; his greatest joy was his wife, Alicia, whom he adored. James attended Valley View Baptist Church in Wears Valley.
James was born in Brooksville, FL to James “Eddie” and Louise Hunter, one of ten siblings. He met and married the love of his life, Alicia, in 1961. Together, they raised four children and operated a child care center, loving and caring for many children for 30 years. He moved to Wears Valley in 2004 to spend time with his wife, family, and spoil the grandchildren.
James is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Kenny) Jacobs and Alicia D Hunter, son James (Irene) Hunter, III,, six grandchildren Matthew (Kelly) Sapp, Kolby Roach, J. Phillip (Chelsea) Roach, Megan (Jon) Carney, Lacey Hunter, and James “Harley” Hunter, eight great-grandchildren, brothers in law Joseph Lake and Robert Rowley, several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Alicia Hamblen Hunter, daughter LauraGail Hunter Plemons, grandson Adam Sapp, parents James “Eddie” and Louise Hunter, siblings June, Joyce, Shirley, Arline, Patsy, Peggy, Samuel, Larry, and Teresa.
Our hearts are broken and he will be greatly missed, but we have the promise that to be away from the body is to be at Home with the Lord, and we will see him again.
