Ellen Margaret Prystowski - October 12, 1937 - April 04, 2024

Departed: 04/04/2024 (Middletown)
Obituary Preview: Ellen Margaret Moran Prystowski, loving mother and grandmother, passed away in the early morning hours on April 4, 2024. She was 86 years old.
Ellen, also known as Peg, was born on October 12, 1937, to William and Mildred Eckerson Moran in Middletown, New York.
Ellen met the love of her life, John Prystowski, and they were married and raised 3 children, Lori, John, and Lisa. John and Ellen loved spending time with their children, whether it was sleigh riding on the hill next to our house, ice skating on the pond across the street, where our father would build a fire for all the kids in the neighborhood to keep warm. Ellen always made sure to buy extra hats and gloves for the children who did not have any. Summer was the family favorite, whether it was visiting family, going to a place we called "the river", where our father would fish and our mother would sit in the stream and watch her children swim, or having a barbeque in the backyard, toasting marshmallows and watching the fireflies.
After only 15 years of marriage, Ellen unexpectedly became a widow at the age of 39 when her husband passed. She worked hard to support her young family at Avon and Middletown Psychiatric Center, where she retired from.
Ellen loved to read and we would always find her outside in the summer with her books or sneaking off to the used bookstore.
Ellen's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ellen would always say that even though her children were grown up with families of their own, they were all "her kids".
Ellen was our foundation, the heart of our family, and loved beyond measure, especially by her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly in return.
She always made sure they got their hugs and kisses along with an "I love you" after a visit or call. When it was time for Birthdays, she was always the first person to call and sing Happy Birthday.
Ellen is survived by her loving children; her daughters, Lori Ussery and Lisa Lucarelli, and her son John Prystowski, and his wife Jennifer. Her cherished grandchildren; Lauren Lucarelli, Linzy Pierre, and her husband Joe, and Emily Prystowski and her partner Robert Rodriguez. She is also survived by her brother George (Junior) Corliss, her step-granddaughters, Daphne Ussery Gahlhoff, and Heather Ussery Rogers, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Ellen was soon to become a great-grandmother to Bailey, daughter of Linzy and Joe, and a baby boy, the son of Emily and Robert.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her son-in-law Glenn Ussery, her brothers Joseph Lercara, Robert Lercara, and Michael Moran, and her sisters Jane Walsh and Linda Hughes.
She will always be an inspiration to our lives as we continue to grow and mold our families. She leaves a legacy within us all and will forever be loved and cherished. We will carry her memory within our hearts until we meet again. We take great comfort in knowing that Mom has been reunited with her husband and they have an eternity to love in heaven as their time together on earth was cut too short.
There will be no visitation.

Richard V. Mills, Sr. - September 02, 1935 - March 18, 2024

Departed: 03/18/2024 (Middletown)
Obituary Preview: The day September 2 has some significance in world history. On Sept 2, 1945, Japan formally surrendered in ceremonies aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay ending World War II hence our V-J Day. That day is also World Coconut Day
and on Sept 2, 2016, Brazil National Museum had 90% of it destroyed by fire. In 1935 it was of special importance to the Mills family. It was Monday, the 2 nd day of September, the 245 th day in the year 1935 that a male child was born to May Cunningham-Mills (formerly from Donegal, Ireland) and George Maxwell Mills (formerly from Monaghan, Ireland) immigrants living in Boston, Massachusetts. This male they named Richard Valentine Mills
.
Richard Mill’s life was no different from any other children born in that war era. Life was hard but the family weathered the storm. Three years later he was blessed with a female sibling; his sister Susan Mills now Battn. Life was much the same only now he had company. At age ten on his birthday, the family was
able to celebrate end of World War II with other fellow Americans. He went on to enjoy his school years absorbing everything he learned at school and in his community. While attending Greater Boston Academy he found the Lord and gave his heart to him. After graduating from Greater Boston, he went on to Atlantic Union College. That was especially memorable to him as he met and fell in love with Helen Delcotte. They told the world of their union on June 28, 1957. This union of heart, mind and body produced three children Richard Jnr, Timothy, and Dorothy. Through hard work, the Mills managed to give their children a good Christian education and introduced their children to their Lord and Savior. Helen fell sick and after a union of almost 62 years, she went to rest
on May 8, 2019, leaving Richard alone. Richard Mills career life could span the lifetime of more that two men. He was a
teacher for many years. Some of the schools he taught at were Mt. Aetna S.D.A. School in Maryland, S.S Seward Elementary School in Florida N.Y., Golden Hill Elementary School, and Middletown Christian School. He was also a part of our nation’s heroes’ team. Richard served many years as a Volunteer Fireman at Mechanicstown Fire District.; a bond that lasts even until now. His working
life did not stop there as Richard was also head of Maintenace at Orange Bank. Of Trusts Company. Still ambitious, he formed his own landscaping company Rich ‘s Lawn Care. Even with all these obligations he still made time to serve his Heavenly Father. Over his years he held positions in the various departments of our church; Sabbath School, Pathfinder, Deacons & Deaconess, Elder, The Music Technical Team, Board Member, and a vibrant missionary for God wherever he
went. Richard loved to work for the Lord, and it was evident whenever you went in his car. He always stocked up on literature to give anyone the Spirit of the Lord
impressed him to speak with. It would appear to anyone who knew Richard that his life was full; but he still felt lonely and wished to share his life with someone special apart from his
children and relatives who all were old enough to have families of their own. So, he went searching for that special lady. Through much prayer and many turn down he persisted. The Lord was with him as he carried out his search. He was rewarded with just the right woman. Upon seeing Charmaine Maragh, he instantly knew he wanted to make her his wife. He was patient as he courted her and then at just the right time popped the question and received a yes. He was overjoyed and was impatient to make her his own, and so on July 11, 2021, they were joined as one in this very church. It was a beautiful ceremony and
reception. During their married life, they were inseparable. The union was troubled with sickness after a few months but their love for each other prevailed. When Richard was feeling better, they did what they both enjoyed-- road trips. They went to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky, Sight & Sound in Pennsylvania, Pigeon Fort in Illinois, road trips to Florida, Niagara Falls just to mention a few. His
illness never held him prisoner. He wanted to always be on the move. Family was precious to Richard. He introduced Charmaine to his children, sister, in-laws, grandchildren and relatives and friends and even his church family at Middletown SDA where she now holds membership. She in turn introduced him to her children and their spouses and children, her relatives and friends and her
church family at Victory SDA. Richard beat cancer successfully with the help of Dr. Ronen, and his team. The staff at Garnet Health Medical Center was also a blessing during his bouts of illness. He also battled COVID 19 and even Flu, but he persevered. As his health
declined recently, he gave up the fight and took his rest on March 18, 2024. Richard is predeceased by his parents and his former wife Helen. He is survived by his wife -Charmaine, Sister -Susan, Children- Richard Jnr, Timothy and Dorothy, Grandchildren, Stepchildren and Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a host of relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory. We look forward to reuniting with him in the very near future through the grace and
precious promises of God and our Savior Jesus Christ.
