Don and Jean were married on May 17, 1957. In June of 1961, they purchased their family home in Reseda, California, where they continued to reside.
Don’s children live in six different states and there were many memorable trips for weddings, celebrations, and new life as little ones arrived. You could always find Don with his family surrounded by his love for music and sense of humor.
Don was the youngest of three children born February 11, 1938, to George Wyatt Brown and Mae Elizabeth Bartlett in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Bemidji High School in Minnesota and was a star athlete playing football, basketball, wrestling, and track. Don starred as the halfback of his high school football team and earned a football scholarship to the University of Illinois.
After graduating high school Don played football at the University of Illinois. While visiting his father in California he met Jean, and they married. Don received football scholarships from UCLA and USC, but due to transfer difficulty, he played for Santa Monica Civic College.
Don’s early jobs to support his family included being the head of janitor services at Gibraltar Savings in Beverly Hills. He participated in the PTO, Men’s Club, coached football, basketball, and track, served as a Eucharistic Minister, Confirmation Program Co-Director with Jean, and assisted with various church activities including repairing damaged buildings and upgrading church pews.
Don’s lifelong journey was met with challenges of vision loss, the death of his oldest son, kidney failure, heart attacks, and chronic COVID. His strength and endurance to meet these challenges was beyond admirable.
Don loved exchanging hearty handshakes and jokes with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed celebrating holidays including Ground Hogs Day and St. Patrick’s Day making fun-shaped colored pancakes and games for his children to celebrate. Anne Harris - May 02, 1938 - July 14, 2023

Departed: 07/14/2023 (North Hollywood)
Obituary Preview: Anne (neé Economos) Harris passed away at 85 years old surrounded by her family on July 14th, 2023 at
4:10am and into the presence of our Lord. Born May 2, 1938 to George and Beatrice (neé Metropoulous) Economos in Lowell, Massachusetts, Anne grew up like any happy New Englander - obsessed with the Cape, hating the snow, and loving her family and community. While Anne’s youth was filled with travels and adventures, she finally settled in her forever home
in Los Angeles, CA in 1968. Anne was everything you would expect a loving Grandmother to be. She cared deeply for her family, had everyone’s best interests at heart, kept us fed, and never shied away from protecting us when necessary - even if it meant causing a little scene. She loved us, and the indelible mark she left on our lives is truly that -
permanent impression. Anne was strong-willed and stubborn, truly the last of the bunch that was cut from such a stronger and different cloth. Her enormous heart and quirky sense of humor (and mouth of a sailor!) made her a truly unforgettable human being - an irreplaceable mark on anyone who crossed paths with her. In the highs, but especially in the lows, Anne was generous, caring, and loyal. All of that coupled with an immense wealth of
knowledge (both book and life) meant that she could fix anything: from a bad dinner to a broken heart. She had a spirit for adventure and enjoyed any excuse for a trip. From scenic rides to the beach for clam strips & sunshine or a weekend in Las Vegas for luck & leisure, Anne was game for it all. She was the life of her own party and kept the soundtrack to her life with her at every turn. From finding new favorites in the charts now to singing the hits of her youth, there wasn’t a tune she couldn’t dance to! In her quiet moments she loved the
pleasure of a good book or keeping her brain sharp with word searches. She will be remembered for all of the heart she shared with us. She carried herself with such dignity, strength, and perseverance, so much so, that those attributes easily trickled down to the family members she has left
behind. Family members are often irreplaceable, but Anne was truly one-of-a-kind. Anne is survived by her daughter Christine; Granddaughters Angie (Alfred), Amber (Avedis) and Abby. She is also survived by her younger brother, Michael; Our New England family and numerous friends who have become family on this coast. Anne is preceded in death by her Mother, Father and her brother Stephen, or as
he was lovingly known by, Joe. In typical Anne fashion, she would be turned off by any boisterous pomp-and-circumstance, but graveside
services will be held on July 26, 2023 11:15am at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills. There will be no calling hours. She was an East Coast girl through & through but planted her roots firmly in Hollywood, in the West, that she
grew to love so dearly. We love you and may your memory be eternal.
I love you Ma.

Marion Lucielle Pfiffner - June 30, 1920 - June 13, 2023

Departed: 06/13/2023 (North Hollywood)
Obituary Preview: Marion O’Mara Pfiffner June 30, 1920 to June 13, 2023
Loving and life-of-the-party wife, girlfriend, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend-to-all died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Although Marion was born in Dubuque, IA to Walter and Clara O’Mara, she headed west to Hollywood as soon as she found a way to escape the midwest. Marion is predeceased by Herman (Hal) Pfiffner, her loving husband of 28 years, and her six siblings. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren. Everyone who met Marion was immediately smitten by her charm, her love of life, her colorful stories, and being called “darling”. Marion was active in the Toluca Lake Garden Club and helped raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She appreciated the old charm of North Hollywood and created a party wherever she went. Marion had a zest for life that had her living at home independently for almost 103 years. Marion would consistently welcome family and friends with open arms and always made sure everyone had a good time. Her contagious laugh was loved by all and will live with us forever.
There will be a funeral mass on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood with a reception immediately following at Marion’s home.

Constance Elnora Weldon - March 16, 1931 - June 12, 2023

Departed: 06/12/2023 (North Hollywood)
Obituary Preview: Our beautiful Mother, Constance Elnora Hatton, was born March 16, 1931, in Mound City, Kansas, to Odessa North and Chester Hatton, the 7th child with a big personality and dreams of leaving a small town and becoming a star like her oldest sister Eula who was a dancer in New York which everyone called her Valda. Because she was the family's baby, she wanted to see California and join her brother Edward in Oakland with his wife, and it wasn't as magical as she was told.
Odessa, her mother, was caring for her brother in St Paul, Minnesota, and she was happy to join her. Odessa's brother died, and they then moved to Los Angeles, where she attended John Francis Polytechnic High, where she graduated in 1947.
Connie attended a cookout where she met Cornelius Weldon at 16, and they became fast friends and, as they put it (hung out) together and had great adventures.
Cornelius was drafted into the army and fought for his life in Korea and here in the States in 1953 for two and half years, where they lost contact while she was living in Los Angeles.
Constance became a socialite in Los Angeles and entered beauty contests, and caught the eye of Mr. John H. Johnson of Johnson Publications. Mr. Johnson was very friendly and professional. He explained that he had the pulse of fashion and offered her the cover and the centerfold in 1953. She was amazed at the attention and grateful for the work. Constance didn't realize how she was a trailblazer in her work with designers, artists. Mr. Johnson wanted her to also model for additional magazines such as Ebony and Hue.
Constance traveled to Hawaii, where she worked, and then decided to return in 1958 to Los Angeles, where she worked for Ponder and Bess company, a photographic product that became what we know as Vivitar.
One day after work, Constance was waiting for the bus, and Cornelius was driving by and spotted her, and she was excited to see Cornelius Weldon, her best friend. He had just returned from the Korean War, and they decided not to continue as just friends and become husband and wife on June 10, 1960.
Connie and June (as the family called them) were excited about their future and started a family on March 1, 1963; Tamara Ruth Weldon was born; in which doctors were surprised because they informed her that she couldn't have children, but Connie was determined and prayed that it wasn't what the doctors say it is what God says. In 1967, Stacy Elizabeth Weldon was born four years later, and then in 1970, David Cornelius Weldon. In 1996 a beautiful angel entered their later years, Chaise Anthony Weldon, who embodies her grandmother's dimples.
Connie and June worked together to raise their beautiful family in a loving home where God was first and educated them in Catholic Schools and Seventh Day Adventist Schools. Constance volunteered at all her children's schools and worked in the Head Start Program created in the Los Angeles School System. When her children graduated from high school, she decided to work at Fedco, where she retired in 1995 to be with her husband and his family traveling and loving her life.
Constance Weldon lived a life of God first, and her journey was the understanding that GOD WILL.
In 2017 Constance suffered a stroke that took her speech and mobility, but that couldn't stop this unique butterfly. She continued to beat the odds, including Covid and other health issues, which her speech returned because her daughter Tamara continued to talk to her as if she could answer back, and one day in May 2019, she did.
Constance was proceeded in death by her beautiful daughter Stacy Weldon, husband Cornelius Weldon, and all her six siblings Valda Hatton, Clarence Hatton, Roland Hatton, William Hatton, LaVerne Sims, and Edward Hatton. She leaves to mourn daughter Tamara Weldon, son David Weldon, granddaughter Chaise Weldon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Constance lived to be 92 years young with her Tamara David and Chaise standing by her side, kissing her goodbye and knowing that this beautiful butterfly would continue to fly.

An obituary is a written announcement of someone's death, often published in a newspaper or online, which typically includes a brief biography, details about the funeral or memorial service, and information about survivors and other family members.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

An obituary is generally a detailed account of someone's life and legacy, while a death notice is a shorter, more factual statement about the person's death, typically without the expanded biography you find in an obituary.

Who writes obituaries?

Obituaries are commonly written by family members, close friends, or occasionally by professional writers at newspapers or funeral homes, often based on information provided by the deceased’s loved ones.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve to inform the community about a person’s passing, to celebrate their life, to acknowledge their contributions, and to announce funeral or memorial details. They also provide historical records for future generations.

What should be included in an obituary?

Typically, an obituary includes the full name of the deceased, dates of birth and death, a brief overview of their personal and professional life, information about the family, details of the services, and sometimes a special message or a thank you note from the family.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary but it generally ranges from a few sentences to several paragraphs, depending on the level of detail desired and the publication's space limitations.

Are obituaries public records?

While obituaries themselves are not public records, they are typically published and accessible to the public. Death records, which obituaries are based on, are official public records.

How soon after death is an obituary published?

An obituary is usually published within a week after death, to allow time to gather information and for immediate family members to be notified, though the timing can vary depending on circumstances and publication deadlines.

Can an obituary be published months after death?

Yes, while most are published soon after death, delayed obituaries can be published due to various reasons, including waiting for a special anniversary, gathering of family, or difficulty in the writing process.

Where are obituaries commonly published?

Obituaries are commonly published in local newspapers, online memorial sites, community bulletins, social media, and in funeral home records.

Is it compulsory to publish an obituary?

No, it is not a legal requirement to publish an obituary. However, many choose to do so as a tradition and a way of informing friends, family, and the community about their loss.

How much does it typically cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary can vary greatly depending on the publication's pricing structure, length of the obituary, and inclusion of photographs. Some newspapers charge by the word or line, while others offer a flat rate.

Can you include a photograph in an obituary?

Yes, photographs are commonly included in obituaries, although there may be an additional cost for this feature in print publications.

What is an appropriate tone for an obituary?

An obituary should generally convey a tone of respect and solemnity, reflecting on the life and contributions of the deceased, while also being factual and clear about the details surrounding their passing and services.

How can one personalize an obituary?

Personalizing an obituary can be done by including anecdotes, personal stories, a favorite poem, or quotes, as well as details about the deceased's hobbies, passions, and what they loved most about life.

Can an obituary be edited after it's been published?

Once an obituary is published, especially in print, it cannot typically be edited. Online obituaries may have the flexibility for editing. It's important to carefully review an obituary before publishing to avoid errors.
