Bentley Luellen - September 30, 2012 - January 27, 2024

Departed: 01/27/2024 (Shirley)
Obituary Preview: Bentley Luellen, beloved Chihuahua of Cassie and Justin Luellen of Pendleton, Indiana, unexpectedly passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Bentley was born on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
Prior to marrying Cassie, Justin lived with his German Shepherd girl, Mercedes. In 2012, Cassie’s brother decided to get a chihuahua puppy for their mother as a Christmas gift. Cassie and Justin thought they might also like to adopt from the same litter. They were worried that if they waited until Christmas, the puppies would be gone. Justin and Cassie knew that they were going to marry and spend the rest of their lives together. Just before Thanksgiving, Justin and Cassie decided this sweet little white, long-haired Chihuahua fur baby would be the perfect addition to join Mercedes and become a part of their new family. They decided to name this sweet little boy "Bentley." Justin was proud that he had both a “Mercedes” and a "Bentley." Bentley was the most laid-back, relaxed dog. His favorite hobbies were resting in the recliner, lying on the couch, napping, and sleeping. Bentley didn’t like running around in the yard, and as he got older, he didn’t appreciate his younger fur sister, an Aussie named Willow, running around circling him. He would give Willow a warning bark to “knock it off.”
Bentley absolutely did not like getting a bath, but he loved it when Cassie would blow dry his hair. To Bentley, what he loved more than naps and having his hair dried was Cassie. Cassie was Bentley’s person. He loved her with all of his heart. Justin and Cassie are heartbroken over the loss of their sweet boy.
In addition to Justin and Cassie, Bentley will be sadly missed by his fur siblings, Willow and Bella the cat.
Bentley joins his fur sister, Mercedes, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2021.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Bentley Luellen.

Zane was born in Muncie, Indiana in May of 2005.  When Cameron turned 6 years old, his dad, Dan, gave him the most wonderful birthday present, a new best friend in Zane. Cameron and Zane were inseparable. Wherever Cameron was Zane was by his side. When it was bedtime, Zane would cuddle up alongside Cameron making sure he was always close. Zane was such an even tempered, easy going little one. He loved his treats and was so smart, he knew how to sit, shake, beg and even jump through a hula hoop for his treats. Although he loved his treats he was such a gentle soul he would let his fur sibling, Reno, steal his food. Reno was his buddy and he didn’t mind sharing. He would just venture to the end of the street and check out the neighborhood. Once he was finished checking things out Zane would always find his way back home. He loved playing, especially in the snow. Zane was a loyal, good dog. As Zane reached the end of his journey here on earth he lost his sight but he continued to remain the same sweet boy he had always been. He would have celebrated his 19th birthday this May. On the way to the office, Trigger moved forward in the car to be closer to his family and passed over the Rainbow Bridge, giving them one last gift of saying goodbye to them on his own terms. He was such a brave boy and he is no longer suffering.Trigger was such a handsome, smart dog.  Although Trigger joined the family trained in many ways, Michelle and Todd decided to enroll Trigger in obedience training classes at First Friend K-9 Training. Trigger’s sister, Sierra, was also teaching Trigger how to roll over, shake hands, how to give hugs and other funny tricks to keep everyone on their toes. Trigger enjoyed being outdoors, exploring the woods, running and splashing around in the water. He loved sniffing for all the deer and squirrels and playing in the snow. Wherever Trigger would roam you would find him carrying his very favorite toy, a stuffed lamb. He was a beautiful boy who his family gladly spoiled rotten. Trigger loved playing with children and just loved children in general. But what Trigger truly loved most of all was being by his family’s side.Trigger absolutely loved his family and his family absolutely loved him. He was a constant source of comfort, companionship and joy. Trigger will always remain in the hearts of his family, Michelle, Todd, Zac, Sierra, Cydnee, Hope and Haiden and all who were blessed to know him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Trigger Dulin.

Departed: 03/08/2023 (Shirley)
Obituary Preview: Coda Ellison, a beautiful, sweet Hybrid Dutch Shepherd Wolf Mix, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, March 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was 12 years old. Coda was fortunate enough to be adopted by the Ellison family in 2011 when she was just around four months old. Coda’s former owner moved and could not keep her and was trying to find a family to take her in. Living with the Ellison family, Coda found her forever home. Coda, being a Hybrid Dutch Shepherd Wolf Mix, fit the personality traits of her breed which are known for being courageous, protective and very loving dogs. Coda was exactly that, so protective and loving. Later, after the family decided to adopt a puppy named Finka, Coda stepped right into the mothering role and taught Finka the ropes of being a well behaved dog. Coda loved Finka and pretty much was responsible for housebreaking her. Coda was loved so much and will be sadly missed by her family, Kim, Zach, Jeremy, Emma, Nicole and Gabby and Finka the pup as well. Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home located in Shirley, Indiana. Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written announcement of someone's death, often published in newspapers and online platforms. It typically includes a brief account of the deceased person's life, their family members, and information about the funeral or memorial services.

What is the purpose of an obituary?

The primary purpose of an obituary is to inform the community of an individual’s passing and to celebrate the life they led. It serves as a historical record and a way for family and friends to honor their loved one’s memory.

How does an obituary differ from a death notice?

A death notice is a simple, factual announcement of a person's death, often including basic information such as the name, age, and date of death. In contrast, an obituary is more detailed and personal, providing a narrative of the person’s life and legacy.

What information is typically included in an obituary?

An obituary usually includes the deceased's full name, age, date of birth, date of death, a summary of their life story, family members, educational and career accomplishments, interests, and any funeral or memorial service details.

What is the appropriate length for an obituary?

There is no steadfast rule for the length of an obituary, but it should be concise enough to capture the essence of the deceased's life without overwhelming the reader. Generally, a few paragraphs are sufficient to cover the necessary information.

Who typically writes an obituary?

Obituaries are often written by close family members, friends, or sometimes by professionals at the funeral home. Some individuals choose to write their own obituaries in advance as part of their end-of-life planning.

How soon after a death should an obituary be published?

An obituary should be published as soon as practical, usually within a few days of the death, to ensure that the community is informed in time for any services or memorials.

What tone should an obituary have?

The tone of an obituary should reflect the personality of the deceased and the preferences of the family. Generally, it should be respectful and heartfelt, often balancing the sadness of loss with the celebration of life.

Is it necessary to mention the cause of death in an obituary?

Mentioning the cause of death is a personal choice. Some families prefer to include this information, while others might choose to keep it private. There is no obligation to disclose it in an obituary.

How can I ensure accuracy in an obituary?

To ensure accuracy, double-check all facts with family members and sources such as birth certificates and other official documents. It’s also advisable to have someone else review the obituary before publication.

Can an obituary include photographs?

Yes, obituaries often include a photograph of the deceased. This photo is usually a recent one that captures the essence of who they were, but some families choose to use an older photo that holds particular sentimental value.

Where are obituaries commonly published?

Obituaries are commonly published in local newspapers, on funeral home websites, and on dedicated online obituary platforms. Some families also share them on social media or create memorial websites.

Is there any guidance on language to use or avoid in obituaries?

It's important to use respectful and considerate language when writing an obituary. Avoid slang, overly casual phrases, and anything that could be construed as offensive or insensitive.

Should I include donations requests in an obituary?

Many families choose to include a request for donations to a charity or cause important to the deceased rather than flowers. This is a personal decision and can be included if desired.

Is it okay to add quotes or poems to an obituary?

Yes, adding a meaningful quote, poem, or passage can personalize an obituary and make it more reflective of the deceased’s life or philosophy.

An obituary is not a legal document, but it can serve as proof of death where needed for the closure of accounts or other administrative purposes.

How can I handle writing an obituary for someone with a complicated personal history?

When writing an obituary for someone with a complex history, focus on sharing the positive aspects of their life and avoid contentious details that might overshadow the purpose of the tribute.

What can be done if an obituary contains an error?

If an obituary contains an error, contact the publication or platform as soon as possible to request a correction. Most will be understanding and willing to amend the obituary.

How do different cultures approach obituaries?

Different cultures have their own customs and traditions for honoring the deceased, which can influence the content and style of obituaries. Research and sensitivity to cultural practices are important in these cases.

Can the deceased's wishes be incorporated into the obituary?

Yes, if the deceased had expressed specific wishes about how they wanted to be remembered or what should be included in their obituary, it’s respectful and meaningful to honor those preferences.

Are there any privacy concerns with publishing an obituary?

Privacy is a valid concern, especially regarding the amount of personal information disclosed. Limiting details such as exact addresses, survivors' full names, or anything that could lead to identity theft is advisable.
