Janice Louise McKinney - October 06, 1959 - January 04, 2024

Departed: 01/04/2024 (Lynn Haven)
Obituary Preview: Janice, your leaving us so quickly and unexpectedly has left our hearts with such a void and closure is certainly hard to see in our future.
Janice Louise McKinney was born on October 6, 1959, and was the light and heartbeat of her parents, Marshall and Frances McKinney. Years passed and Janice experienced that same light when her son, Jeff was born. Janice lived for her family and though her circle was small, she loved them fiercely. Her love for Frances, Jeff, Emily, Shelby, Ella and her dog, Rusty, gave her the strength she needed to fight cancer so hard and for so long. She just wanted to be here with and for them.
Janice loved being a grandmother and Shelby, her granddaughter, could do no wrong in her eyes. She gave this little girl the world and truly could not have loved her more. Ella, her second grandchild, filled Janice’s heart again with such love and pride. She wanted to see these girls grow up and be a part of their future. She will now watch from afar, so remember to look up on those special occasions through life and look for the brightest star beaming from above.
One of Janice’s greatest qualities was her generosity. If you were a part of her life and spent time with her, you were bound to be given a special gift at one time or another. It was how she showed her love and appreciation.
Janice resided with her elderly and ailing mother to selflessly love and care for her. They had a unique relationship, frequently laughing and sometimes even crying together. Janice made sure that her mother had the best life possible considering the circumstances.
Janice loved to laugh and seeing someone fall down, uninjured, was one of her greatest pleasures. She would easily laugh even at herself. She loved travel, food, and her happy place was the beach. It had always called her name and brought her true peace, joy, and happiness. She was thrilled to have been able to return to the beach for a visit last year, and it meant so much to her.
Janice never met a stranger and loved talking to people. She was Jones proud; Jones being the maternal side of her family. She loved her heritage, stories of old, and learning the history of her family.
She loved the neighborhood circle of friends that became her tribe and second family. They were good to Frances and Janice during trying times and for that her family will always be grateful. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Dr. Weber and the staff at Florida Cancer Affiliates as well as the medical staff at Nation’s Best Family Health.
Janice loved animals as you all know from her frequent posts about lost pets. If there was a zoo in her travels, she visited to enjoy and be amused by the animal life. If anyone would like to make a monetary contribution in Janice’s memory, go to Lucky Puppy Rescue at https://www.theluckypuppy.org/. A Celebration of Life will be held later. Janice, we are all so proud of how you fought to live. We realize that it took more willpower than most could ever grasp. You never gave up no matter what the fight. It took so much determination and for that you should be proud. We hope you and Freddie Mercury are somewhere singing in a blissful moment with your wide and crazy grin. The words of WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS are surely rolling off your tongue, and you are in that beautiful green dress from Jeff & Emily’s wedding. You looked so beautiful, so this is how we choose to remember you!
