Obituary Preview: Ricky Gene Schultz, 70, of Waynesville, NC entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Ricky was born on May 7, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio.  His family moved to Colorado when he was a young boy.  He grew up and graduated from Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, Colorado where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball.  He served in the Army before moving to Florida.
In Florida he met his wife, Barbara. They were married in 1994 in a destination wedding in Tennessee by the Pastor who introduced them in church.
Ricky retired in 2016 from the State of Florida, Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement Division.  He and Barbara moved to NC where he enjoyed hiking in the Smoky Mountains, loved the beautiful scenery, and appreciated the change of seasons.
Ricky will be loving remembered by his wife, Barbara; his son, Bryan Schultz; his daughter-in-law, Laura Schultz; his daughter, Dawn Schultz; his brother, Randy Schultz (Elizabeth Schultz); and many cousins as well as his grandchildren: Allison Schultz, Sophia Schultz, Kyle Alvarez, Valaree Alvarez and Vanessa Alvarez.
He was predeceased by his father, Edward Henry Schultz; mother, Pauline Mirrilla Savory and infant granddaughter, Nikita Beasley.

Born May 11, 1934 in Asheville, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Mathews and Mabel O'Kelly.  She was preceded in death by her son Mark and is survived by her husband Peter Walker, son Paul, and grandson Dallas Walker.
Cynthia's career as a musician spanned forty years including many church engagements as an organist and pianist as well as singing in the UNCA Community Chorus and choir of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville.
On Oct. 22, 1988, she won 2nd place in the 39th Annual Poetry Day Awards Program with her entry, "Moving Home in Middle Age".
An intimate gathering of family and friends will be held privately.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother Asher, grandparents Tracy and Ronnie Gaskins, Julie Britt and Matthew Doughty as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was a well known makeup artist in the Asheville area, and loved making brides and models feel and look their best on their special days.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Melvin Blair; her brother, Samuel Lane Blair; her maternal grandfather, Augustus Lane Newton; her paternal grandfather, Samuel Davidson Blair; and her paternal grandmother, Eleanor Blair.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Newton Blair of Hubert, NC; brothers David Lane Blair of Hubert, NC; Russell Blair and wife Rachel of Marietta, GA; Daniel Blair of Marietta, GA; her maternal grandmother, Miriam Newton of Blowing Rock, NC; nephew Augustus Lane Blair of Deep Gap, NC; niece River Blair of Marietta, GA; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Sydney and her father, who passed away during Covid, will be held on March 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Holiday Inn East, 1450 Tunnel Road, Asheville in the Blue Ridge Room.

Obituary Preview: Daisy Mary Smack was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She left this world suddenly on February 18, 2022 at age 86.
She was born to Joseph Kriesche and Daisy Brown on May 1, 1935. After graduating from high school, Daisy worked at Playtex where she met her late husband, Neil Smack, they married and had 3 beautiful daughters.
Daisy loved spending time outdoors, whether hiking with local groups or tending to her garden. She traveled extensively, from early family trips in the Tioga across the United States to monkey encounters sea kayaking in  Costa Rica. Later in life, she frequently enjoyed cruises and dance competitions with her late partner Buck Gibson. She was an avid artist, favoring watercolor and drawing most, but was skilled in just about every medium she could get her hands on and filled her home with her creations.
She is survived by her daughters: Deidre Veid, Mary Hoffer and Julianne Burkhart and her grandchildren: Kevin Hamilton, Rhianna Hoffer, Ashley Vied and Meghan Burkhart.
A small family gathering will be held to honor her life.

Chris is survived by his sweetheart of 28 years, Tara Anderson of the home, and Tara’s children and grandchildren, whom he was proud to share. Predeceased by his father Richard Nero, Chris is also survived by his mother, Marion Nero of Poughkeepsie NY, his brother Douglas Nero (and wife) of Lakeland FL, and his sister Michelle Summers (and husband) of Sherman CT. Chris earned a BS degree from SUNY/Syracuse and had a varied career in science and technology.  As a young man, Chris loved boating and the outdoors and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  In retirement, he especially loved cruise travel and beach vacations.  He loved his canine companions, especially Dottie Beagle and 2 previous beagles, and their current pet Shadow.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 61 Westfield Way, Candler NC.

Gary Joseph Stewart - November 05, 1942 - January 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gary Joseph Stewart, 79 years old, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2022 due to Parkinson's disease.
Gary was born on November 5, 1942 in Watertown, NY to Percy and Mabel Stewart and spent his early years in Owego, NY. Later on, he moved to Syracuse, NY where he graduated from N Syracuse High School and Oneida Community College with a business degree.
After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Education from SUNY Brockport, Gary ended up teaching 5th and 6th grades at Greece Central School District (Rochester, NY) for 31 years, as well as working as a volunteer fireman for the North Greece Fire Department. It was here that he met and married Barbara Louise Hepler (also a teacher), and fathered a son, Jseph Walker Stewart.
Gary was a quiet man of many talents who never bragged or boasted about what he could do well, like growing bountiful gardens of vegetable (which he readily shared with friends and neighbors), or fixing cars or anything else that needed repairing.
His retirement years were spent between Naples, Florida and Hendersonville, North Carolina, where he volunteered at both police departments and ushered for Flat Rock Playhouse, as well as helping out at Pardee Hospital. Gary also enjoyed spending time with his family hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, visiting zoos, zip-lining, and going on cruises. His favorite pastime was following NASCAR races on TV while rooting for his favorite drivers.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Mabel Stewart, as well as his older sister, Patricia McTamney. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a son, Joseph; and five nieces, Karen, Sandy, Pam, Penny, and Kathy, who will dearly miss him.
Grateful thanks to his wonderful caregivers at Pardee Hospital, Pardee Home care, Blue Ridge Health and Rehab Facility, and Four Seasons Hospice, plus the people at A Simple Cremation for valuable assistance in planning the final service. We must never forget to thank Pastor Ron and members of The First Alliance Church, plus many other friends and relatives for their prayers, words of comfort, and deeds of kindness during this crucial period of our lives.

Born August 9, 1960, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Edward Holliday and Frances Babb Holliday.
Tim was a 1978 graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School and a 1985 graduate of Clemson University where he received his BA in History. He was the co-founder of TD’s (Timbo and Dewey) in Clemson. Tim was passionate about many things but in particular, BHP football, Clemson University and Clemson rugby.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Connie Lister Holliday; and sons, Cole Holliday and Luke Holliday both of Piedmont, SC. Being a blended family, Tim had two additional children that he loved as his own, Cory Nuckolls of Clyde, NC, and Ryan Nuckolls Rosa (Lewis) of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are his granddaughters, Emerson and Maisie; brothers, Richard Holliday (Libby) of Belton, SC, and Terry Holliday (Denise) of Asheville, NC; sister, Glenda Holliday of Summerville, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Gail Gray of Piedmont, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Blake Holliday #19.
A service to celebrate the life of Timbo Holliday will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Following the service, family and friends will gather at TD’s in Clemson.

He was known by his friends to be a devout Christian man. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Asheville, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Andrew was a classically trained singer. While he enjoyed all music, his favorite songs were worship hymns lifted up to our Lord. He was an avid clogger and was a member of the Southern Appalachian Cloggers and the Green Valley Cloggers.
He is survived by his son, Shawn Anthony Dillard and wife, Amy who reside in Lexington, NC. Also, one granddaughter, Marissa Dillard Adams and husband Jack of Charlotte. And, two grandsons, Lucas and Elijah Mallard of Lexington, NC. His memorial service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 80 Olivette Rd, Asheville, NC 28804, Saturday February 5th at 2pm.

Obituary Preview: Lisa H. Baldwin, age 44, of Fletcher NC passed away suddenly on December 29, 2021. She was the daughter of Faye H. Harrington and the late Jerry D. Hoots.
Lisa is also preceded in death by husband, Ricky Baldwin, sister, Ginger H. Smathers, maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her mother, Faye Huntley Harrington, step father, Gerald Harrington, son, Mitchell Anders, daughter, Samantha Stepp, step daughter, Brandy Baldwin,  sister, Katina H. Smathers, and grandchildren, Arabella Anders and Hunter Treadway, step grandmother, Lara Harrington, along with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The shocking loss has left us with broken hearts, our lives will never be the same without our mother, daughter and sister.  Although she will be missed by many, none will miss her more than her two children.
She loved keeping up with the everyday life of her children and was looking forward to Samantha’s graduation this year.  She also adored and  enjoyed  her grandchildren and was kept busy caring for her them.. Lisa was an excellent cook and she enjoyed feeding her family well.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
No funeral services are planned at this time. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He was born December 3, 1964, in Madison North Carolina to Walter Eugene Treadway Sr. and Marie Clark Treadway.  Gene was a great family man and cherished his Wife, Tammy Holmes Treadway, daughters Colette Posey, Adriahna Martin and spouse Kandi Martin, and son/grandson Nathan Posey Treadway.
Gene touched so many lives throughout his life. His love for bowling helped him reached his goal of holding the state record and traveling to win tournaments. Nicknamed Phyton and known for his “wiggle waggle” right before he bowled a strike. He loved golfing with his best friend Lary, they referred to themselves as vicious and delicious. Gene told the craziest stories and jokes and could make anyone laugh with what he called “pretty moments”. Knowing no stranger and having many friends the world has lost a one-of-a-kind amazing man.

Ramsey, her Ex-Husband (but life-long friend of 45 years) -Thomas Pinkerton, Her loving Children-Tonna Davis (Damian), Riecka Lee, Crissy Byas, and Cadence Pinkerton (Destiny).  She had 4 adoring grandsons-Chace Mcadoo, Malakai Davis, Joziah Davis, Rannon Lee, and a devoted granddaughter - Annaleah Byas, and was recently made a great-grandmother by miraculous twin boys - Xander and Rhyker Pinkerton.
Also mourning her loss are her sisters - Sue Sizemore, Linda Rosser, Theresa Austin, and brother - Harold Ramsey.  Countless Cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will be forever changed by her departure.  She was preceded in death by her Father - Arnold Houston Ramsey and brother - Doyle Ramsey.
Her love for life was unmatched and she never met a child in need that she did not embrace and accept into her village.  To be in her orbit was a privilege and also came with excellent benefits - such as free sage life advice, or maybe some light electrical work, tree-trimming, painting, tailoring, or providing stunning gourmet cakes for any occasion.  Her presence will forever be felt in too many small ways to count and also in every beach sunrise and sunset.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Lake Julian Pavillion (Hendersonville Rd. entrance), at 56 Fisherman's Trail Arden, NC 28704.

James Edwin Marks - May 12, 1940 - October 07, 2021

Obituary Preview: Jim Marks, 81, of Candler, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Prior to moving to Candler in 2007, he had been a lifelong resident of Westchester County, NY.  The son of the late Wayne and Helen Breslin Marks, he grew up in Pleasantville, NY and graduated from Mount Herman Preparatory School.
He completed his formal education at Pace University where he earned his BA in Marketing. He returned there as an Adjunct Professor, teaching advertising and marketing. While at Pace he headed up Ad Team student competitions at the National level.
Jim’s career led him to write and serve as advertising creative director for several NYC agencies, including Benton & Bowles and William Esty. During this time he worked with Mohammed Ali and Jaclyn Smith. He also wrote “People” for the Associated Press and was the Founding Editor of Hudson River Boating News and PetGazette, WNC’s pet newspaper.
In addition to his love of writing, he coached kids soccer, helping to establish the AYSO in Westchester County, NY.  He brought exchange teams to England and California.
Jim was active in local Republican politics. He believed that this country was founded by God and that the values of America’s Declaration of Independence and Constitution reflect that. As a descendant of a Revolutionary War patriot, Jim joined the LTC Felix Walker Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Serena Marks Gordon; son, Wayne Marks; brother, Bob Marks; and sisters, Betty Marks Dronzek, Mary Ann Lincoln, and Pat Marks Dronzek.
