Offends no one along the way. With Him, I’ll have no sorrow;
Here today, gone tomorrow. Days so long, time so short! I often wonder, where did it start? My life has come, and it has gone!

Edward Lee Fletcher - January 22, 1937 - November 21, 2023

Departed: 11/21/2023 (La Marque)
Obituary Preview: The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. ~Psalm 37:23-24 (NKJV)
Mr. Edward Lee Fletcher Sr. was born on January 22, 1937, to the late Lee Fletcher and Sallie Dotson Fletcher, in Shreveport, LA. He was born the twin brother to Ollie Lee Fletcher.
Edward moved to Texas City, TX in the 1950’s where he worked on several jobs in the Industrial  Refineries of Texas  City and also later, became an Independent Cement and Demolition Contractor with his brothers. Texas City is where he would meet and marry his first wife, Beatrice Mayes, and to this union, Gentry Wayne, Edward Lee, Jr., Clabe Leon, Victor Lee, Lucinda Renee, Tina Paulette, Florence Deneen, and Gary Patrick.
. He was best known as Mr. Fletcher, Uncle Fletcher, Uncle Ed, and most of all Daddy. He was known by many and respected by all. He walked tall and didn’t play when it came to his children. He was proud of all his children and was especially overjoyed to welcome grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 1986, he would meet and later marry Mary Wanda  Moses of Texas City, TX. This union added a daughter, two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren to the Fletcher family.  She would spend the next 37 years of Fletcher’s life, by his side, and until death separated them. They shared a very happy lifetime together surrounded by family and friends.  Unfortunately, he would have many health challenges in his later years. During these challenging times, he would find respite through his great-granddaughter, Riley, lovingly referring to her as “that little girl” and as he spoke of her you could hear the joy in his voice.
Edward loved boxing, fast cars, fruit, vegetables, and poker. This affinity for poker led him to inherit his own business, known as “The Gambling Shack”. Many of the Locals spent many nights and weekends there enjoying his cooking and a friendly game of cards.   He became an avid gardener with his brother, Jeff, and they shared their harvest with the members of the community.  Edward had a profound love for his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Edwards' presence brightened every gathering, and he had a way of bringing people together with his warm smile and easy tone, but it was not to be  tested. He loved driving pretty, fine and fast cars {Grand Prix}, especially race cars {Dodge Charger}.  In later years he found solace spending time near the water on the Texas City Dike.
On November 21, 2023, after many health challenges, Edward peacefully transitioned from this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Many years before the transition, he would come to know God as his personal savior, healer, and deliverer. He sought and accomplished ways to reconcile his relationships with friends and family. Edward often spoke with his son-in-law, Pastor Richard Taylor Sr., for spiritual guidance while seeking knowledge in becoming more like the Savior he knew to be in his life.
Edward is preceded in death by, his parents, Lee and Sallie Fletcher; sons, Edward Lee Fletcher Jr., Victor Lee Fletcher; siblings, Henry Dickson (Mary Ella), Jeff Fletcher, Sr. (Elise), Joseph Fletcher Sr., Frank Fletcher, Melinda Fletcher, Ida Bell Fletcher, and Dorothy Scott (Sidney); brother in laws, Norman Mike Bell and Otis Mc Cline; and a previous wife, Jewel Hood Fletcher and son, Leslie Green.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife, Mary Wanda Fletcher; his children, Gentry Wayne  Fletcher, Clay Fletcher, L. Renee Fletcher Taylor (Apostle Richard Taylor, Sr.), Tina P. Fletcher, F. Deneen Mickens, La Shonia Moses and Gary P. Fletcher; and stepdaughter, Lashanna Moses; his sisters, Olla  Bell,  Ollie Lee Fletcher, Ora Deloris Mc Cline, and Odessa Hahto (Dan); brothers, Henry Harris (Dorothy), and Robert Fletcher (Deborah). Grand-children (22) and multiple great grand-children.  There are a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, dear friends, and all who had the privilege and the pleasure of knowing FLETCHER.
**The family would like to thank Accent Care Hospice employees; Nurse Ebony, provider Amber, and Champlain James for their diligence in keeping Fletcher comfortable in his time of need.
