He was born March 27,1924, in Manifest, La., to Albert L. and Phronie Massey Creel. As a young man, Alden graduated from Manifest High School . Then as times would have it, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was involved in the “Battle of the Bulge” as U.S. forces captured the critical remaining Remagen Bridge across the Rhine River in Germany. It was here he was wounded in the peril of battle for his country during the closing weeks of WWII. He was truly a great American hero as he fought for the freedoms of this nation that we enjoy today. After returning home from the battlefield, he began his higher education first attending Northeast Jr. College in Monroe, La., which is now known as ULM. He then continued his college career in Lafayette, La., at University of Southwestern Louisiana now known as ULL. It was here that he met the love of his life, Vyriee Sandidge, at the Minnie Pearl Show. They later married and a legacy of love began that would last for over 70 years. Upon graduating, he began his teaching career in Kilbourne, La. Soon a son was born, and within a year, another son was welcomed. They returned to Catahoula Parish where he would embark upon a journey of education at Enterprise High School touching and influencing many lives. Nine years later, a daughter was born. The family moved from the banks of the Ouachita River to the heights of Enterprise which became known as Creel Hill where he resided until his death. Throughout his career, the “Professor” wore many hats. He taught agriculture, sciences, shop, and was also in charge of the meat processing plant. He was also the unofficial vet, often called out to doctor and vaccinate cattle and other animals. He was the leader of the FAA chapter at EHS taking many students to Kansas City for national conventions and also state conferences in Bunkie, LA., as well. Through this organization, many students learned parliamentary law and many other leadership skills. After 33 years, he retired from Catahoula Parish School System. He was later offered the opportunity during his retirement to fill in at Larto High School. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there as he spoke of it lovingly. Frank Bryant - October 26, 1933 - May 28, 2020

Departed: 05/28/2020 (Jonesville)
Obituary Preview: Franklin L. “Frank” Bryant, age 86, entered into eternal life with God, May 28, 2020, in the comfort of his own home, in Jonesville, Louisiana. He was born October 26, 1933, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Grady L. and Lucy Mae Cotton Bryant, the oldest of three children. As a young man, Frank graduated from Natchez High School, and at age 16 left home to attend La Tech University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He met the love of his life, Shirley J. Albritton, while his family resided in Searcy, La., and loved telling of their courtship and subsequent marriage on July 4, 1953, while on weekend leave from the Air Force. Frank served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Japan, where he served as an air traffic controller. Frank and Shirley raised their two children, Cynthia Ann Bryant Bowdon, and James ‘Jamie” Bryant, in Wildsville, then Jonesville, La.
After 30 years of working for Chevron Oil Company, Frank retired in 1987, and had more time to farm, hunt, and fish, with more serious time spent duck hunting. His passion for duck hunting led to his woodworking hobby-turned-business of making metal reed duck calls, and starting a new business venture, Mallard Master™, and guiding many duck hunts on the La Delta Plantation.
Frank was also an avid sports fan, which began with following the Block Bears, attending Saints and LSU football and baseball games, and never missed watching the Houston Astros. His idea of traveling was to go to Grassy Lake or Cotile Lake, but did enjoy taking Shirley on a trip of a life-time to visit the Holy Land, and then in his later years, traveling by himself to visit his granddaughter and her family in Germany.
Frank worshipped and served as a Deacon of Grace Baptist Church, in Jonesville, La., and served many years as a member of Gideon International, as he had a desire to share his faith and testimony, and spend time with his Gideon brothers. He visited and spoke at many local churches, and delivered Gideon Bibles to local schools, and medical practices. He also traveled to many jails and prisons with Pastor Perry Gardner, and had a ministry of praying for the lost to be saved and for those with tobacco addiction to be able to cease smoking. Frank never missed a day praying for each member of his family, speaking each one’s name to the Lord.
Frank’s family, the Gideon ministry, his “Grace Church Family”, his duck-call business, and his rat-terrier, Gabby, brought him much comfort after the death of his beloved wife, Shirley, of 52 years.
Most recently, Frank met and married Frankie Staggs, of Jonesville, La., spending the last few months of his life happy to have her by his side.
Frank is survived by his wife, Frankie Staggs Bryant, his children, Cynthia (Kirk) Bowdon of Pineville, LA, and James (Donna) Bryant of Flower Mound, TX; brother James S. Bryant, Jonesville, LA., and sister, Nancy Hudnall of Natchez, MS.; five grandchildren Keren Pickard, Daniel Bowdon, Abbye Perez-Montes, Lorra Ashley Bryant, and Emilie Bryant; and five great-grandchildren Joshua and Hannah Pickard, William Bowdon, Emily and Zoe Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jo (Albritton) Bryant and his parents, Grady L. Bryant and Lucy Mae Cotton Bryant.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at Grace Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M, May 31, 2020. The service will be led by the Reverend’s Perry Gardner and Matthew Murrell. Pallbearers are Daniel Bowdon, Joseph Perez-Montes, Grant Taylor, Wayne Bryant, Ron Bruit, and Greg Terry
Honorary Pallbearers are Nelson LaPrarie, David Mitchell, Dick Young, and Frank’s Gideon Brothers.
