Bailey Easterling in the Middendorf Community of Chesterfield County, SC on November 24, 1947. He departed this life on Friday morning April 5, 2024, at Prisma Hospital in Columbia, SC after struggling with illness for a long time. His family and loved ones will surely miss him; but will lovingly remember his talkative and engaging persona, as well as his optimistic personality. He graduated Pine Forest High School in McBee, SC in 1967 and later joined the US Marines Corps. He trained at Parris Island, SC, and Camp Lejeune, NC, before departing from California for Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a mechanic for the Vulcraft Corporation in Florence, SC. Fred was a trucker from the heart – driving an 18-wheeler was one of the things he loved. He was also an avid
Ham Radio enthusiast and often would tell of how he would sit at his home and talk to people in the Islands and all over the USA on his short-wave radio. (This was a long time before the internet). He was a long-distance driver for the JB Hunt Company, traveling across the US and into Canada. He also hauled fuel for APC for several years. In his church duties, he was appointed to be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the vehicles of the church, as well as driving the bus out-of-state to our branch churches. Although he was not able to attend, he always supported the work of the Lord and continued to support others who needed assistance. He faithfully attended Monday Night Prayer and was known to be heard calling upon the name of the Lord. In the duration of his illness, he relied upon the care of his son, sisters, and brothers, who gave him their utmost attention and
special care. Tiffani Ellison - January 04, 1982 - January 09, 2024

Departed: 01/09/2024 (Hartsville)
Obituary Preview: How sweet it is at evening time after a long and well spent day, to close the eyes in slumber and rest from the toils of the day. It is doubly sweet at the close of a well-spent life, no matter the length, to turn one’s face toward the sunset and quickly sink into rest that knows no waking except in the presence of God. Such describes the passing of Tiffani Sherell Ellison on the afternoon of January 9, 2024, who departed this life and entered eternal rest.
Tiffani was born on January 4, 1982, in Manning, S.C., to Patricia “Trish” Ellison Burwell and Joseph Jiggetts, (Bronx, N.Y.), who preceded her in death. She brought much love, joy, and laughter, while being a beacon of light that warmed the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. At an early age, Tiffani began serving in multiple roles where she sang on the youth choir and served as an usher who greeted everyone with a smile at Elizabeth Baptist Church, Manning, S.C. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Antioch Baptist Church, Columbia, S.C., at the age of twelve. Tiffani was an excellent student. She was placed in the Accelerated Academic Program (AAP) in the second grade and continued through her twelfth-grade year. Duke University showed an interest in her academic achievements while she was in the sixth grade at Alcorn Middle School, Columbia, S.C. It was at this stage in her life that she developed an interest in Music Arts, and directed her interests toward the trombone. She wanted to follow in the footsteps of her Uncle Rodrick. Although there was a concern that Tiffani’s arms may not have been long enough to stretch out the slide of the trombone, Tiffani was tenacious in her desire to succeed in this endeavor. As not to put any financial burdens on her mom to pay for or rent an instrument, she chose the trombone because, “Uncle Rodrick already has a trombone that he’s not using any more; he probably won’t mind me using it; and, his is already paid for.” Therefore, under the musical directions of Mr. Ken Cheeks, Director of Music at Alcorn Middle School, she mastered the trombone, played with Orchestra/Band and was invited to join their Jazz Ensemble. Additionally, Tiffani became the first female trombonist at Alcorn Middle School and C.A. Johnson High. Her favorite affirmation was, “Simple things matter more when you use your head and heart.”
Tiffani graduated from C.A. Johnson High School, Columbia, S.C. in 2000, where she reigned as “Miss C.A. Johnson” and “Miss USC Upward Bound”, simultaneously. The very next day after being crowned “Miss CAJ”, Tiffani was assigned her very own television crew as a “Teen Reporter” with WIS-TV, and provided exclusive coverage on Irmo High School’s Technology Center that had recently been opened. Tiffani studied two years at Benedict College, in Early Childhood Development; however, her life took a different direction. She was artistically creative, gifted and talented, especially enjoying writing, singing, dancing, acting, and poetic readings. She had a love for cooking and experimenting with recipes and enjoyed food service management at Waffle House at both the West Columbia and Columbia, S.C. locations. Her creative side was even demonstrated in the name she strategically selected for her daughter, “Ayeola”, which is West African for “Rainbow”.
Professionally, having a heart of service, and a love in helping others, Tiffani worked in human services and was employed at Leon Gantts Auto Repair, Columbia, S.C., as an office manager. She was also business savvy as the owner and proprietor of two small businesses, Harambee Housekeeping Services and Cache’ Candles. Tiffani possessed an infectious warmth and kindness that brightened the atmosphere wherever she went. She had a genuine interest in the well-being of others as she was a natural when it came to being a Hostess. Even during her most difficult times, she encouraged others to keep fighting and never forgot to say, “thank you” to everyone or “hello beautiful.” At the end of her conversations, she would always remind others to “Enjoy your day on purpose.”
Tiffani lived her life by the motto: “Every day I strive to be a rainbow for somebody’s cloud.” She was always so bright and colorful with her love of anything yellow or orange. Even though her journey was a difficult one, she showed strength and humility to the very end realizing that God was the keeper of her faith. She was dedicated to her family and friends and her beloved dog, Prince.
Those left to celebrate Tiffani’s life, mourn her passing, and cherish her memories are: her mother, Patricia “Trish” Ellison Burwell (Columbia, S.C.); her daughter Ayeola Shawn Murray, (West Columbia, S.C.); her sister Andrea Nicole Ellison and her niece Symphony Brown (Columbia, S.C.); four loving Godmothers, Betty Jean White (Manning, S.C.); Paulette Dixon (Bronx, N.Y.); Dr. Mamie Hayes Hartwell (Columbia, S.C.); and Minister Jackie Catoe (Gadsden, S.C.); and a host of aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends who all loved her very much.

Gussie Mae Mack - May 16, 1959 - September 21, 2023

Departed: 09/21/2023 (Hartsville)
Obituary Preview: Gussie Mae Mack, daughter of the late Mr. Prince Johnson Outen and Mrs. Mattie Richardson Outen was born on May 16, 1959 in McBee, South Carolina. On September 21, 2023, she exhaled one final time, and quickly slipped out of time and into eternity, leaving an eternal void in the hearts of those who loved her most.
Gussie was educated in the public schools of Chesterfield County, learning the basic educational necessities for the journey that would lay ahead of her. She ultimately graduated from McBee High School, and immediately afterward entered the workforce. Gussie spent her career in the industrial workforce, and worked successfully for A.O. Smith Manufacturing Company for over 34 years, where she was loved and adored by all. She was a consistent, and dedicated employee who will undoubtedly be missed by her coworkers who came in contact with her sweet, caring, and helpful spirit.
This love that Gussie radiated was not shown to her coworkers only, but in fact, began at home with her closest family members and friends. Those who knew her know that she had a giving heart, and was always willing to help absolutely anyone that she could—even if it meant giving her last. Her husband, children, and grandchildren adored her, and each deeply cherished their individual relationships with her. They’ll remember her for her outstanding cooking abilities, and they’ll miss that fried chicken, those candied yams, and that taco salad. You could feel her love in everything she did, and simply put, it is a love that can never be duplicated.
In addition to being the glue that held her family together, Gussie was an unwaveringly devoted member of Galilee Baptist Church. It was always evident through her actions, that she loved her church family beyond measure! Down through the years, she was involved in several aspects of the church, and never required a title to do any of it. Where she saw a need, she met it. Where she was asked, she always showed up. Her absence now will be felt many, more than can be numbered by any man. A family has lost its matriarch, children have lost their rock, and the world – it’s just a little darker without that beautiful smile of Gussie Mae Mack to make all of our lives a little brighter.
In addition to her parents, Gussie was preceded in death by her siblings: Ms. Maxine Toney, Mr. Alonzo Outen, Mr. Elijah Outen, and Mr. Johnny Outen.
Now that she has received her crown, Gussie leaves behind to continue her legacy of love: the love of her life for over 40 years, Mr. Levorn Mack; her children, Groshua Outen of Marlton, New Jersey, Brandon (Yasmin) Outen of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Bryan (Teryn) Outen of Hartsville, South Carolina; and her 7 grandchildren: Shopia, Gabrielle, Garth, Jr., Brandon, Jr, Marquis, Ashante, and Zaybreon. Also left behind are her siblings: Ms. Judy Adams of Florence, South Carolina, Mr. Willie Outen of Hartsville, South Carolina, Ms. Susie Black of McBee, South Carolina, Mrs. Doris (Frankie) Thomas of Elgin, South Carolina, Ms. Betty O. Johnson of Camden, South Carolina, Mrs. Teressa (Kenneth) King of McBee, South Carolina, Ms. Bernessa Wright of McBee, South Carolina, and Ms. Virgina Needham of McBee, South Carolina; as well as a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends all of whom will need your prayers in the coming days, weeks, months, and years ahead as they learn to cope with this terrible loss. We have all loved her, but God loved her best.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to share news of a loved one's passing, provide information about funeral services and memorial events, and offer a sense of closure for those who are grieving.
