Tye Michael Elliott - August 17, 1964 - May 14, 2024

Departed: 05/14/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: Tye Michael Elliott, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his residence in Peoria, IL. Tye was born on August 17, 1964, in Peoria. A son of Royce and Helen (Milford) Elliott, he was a brother to Brian (Debbie) Elliott, Hedy (Zeb) Gardner, and Brett (Devon) Elliott.
He married Elizabeth “Beth” Westart on May 13, 1989, at Sacred Heart Church in Peoria. She survives him with his beloved sons and daughter in-law, Mitchell (Maria) Elliott of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Beau Elliott of West Peoria.
In a word, people simply knew him as the “Best”: the best husband, father, brother, friend, uncle, and mentor, among countless other titles in his vast circle of friends and those he influenced and loved.
Tye lived his life lifting others up and helping them dream bigger and achieve more. He was an industry leader in his profession, lifting people up in the world while asking nothing in return. He helped show his mother the world, perhaps most memorably bringing the family and his mother-in-law to Paris.
Tye was most in his element with a baseball in his hand. Growing up in Peoria, he was an outstanding athlete, namely in baseball. From leading his team to a West Peoria Little League Championship, all the way through his years at Spalding Institute, Lincoln College, and Illinois Wesleyan. He continued his baseball career through the Peoria Sunday Morning League and as an All-World Selection in Fast Pitch Softball.
Tye’s impact and influence on others will be missed but never forgotten. He lived life with passion and purpose, solely motivated by the success of others that gravitated to his larger-than-life personality.  He took great pleasure and pride in his family, driven by the pure love he had for the love of his life, Beth.
A celebration of life will be hosted by the family at a date and location to be determined at the end of June. Details to come from the family.

Arthur F. Lampitt, Sr. - January 11, 1939 - May 13, 2024

Departed: 05/13/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: Arthur Forest Lampitt, Sr., 85, of Granite City, IL passed away at home on Monday, May 13, 2024, a day after spending significant time running errands.
Art was born on January 11, 1939 in Pekin, IL to Ivan and Rekie Lampitt. He married Elizabeth A. Lampitt of Peoria, IL (formerly of Wilmington, DE) on April 24, 1965 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. He is survived by their four sons: Arthur, Jr, Edwin (Claire), Andrew (Lynne), and Fr. Robert; his only brother Dan (Sandee); nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and two infant grandchildren, Benjamin and Josephine.
A convert after marriage, Art was most recently a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City but was previously a member at St. Joseph’s in Pekin, St Monica's in East Peoria and Holy Family in Granite City.
He had escaped death many times, the most dramatic event being his horrific July 1963 car accident. He was mistakenly declared dead only to recover in a full body cast with the car’s turn signal lodged in his left forearm. That unknown detail was not addressed for 51 years and would come to make him famous around the world.
Art made a living in residential real estate having done it all: selling, renting, appraising, inspecting and even rehabbing. He enjoyed dreaming of new and creative solutions to a whole host of problems, relished his independence, and loved driving wherever the road could take him. Perhaps one of his most amazing attributes was his drive and determination, with an utter inability to give up.
Most of all, he loved and missed his wife, Betty, and valued his children and grandchildren. They will miss his quiet presence and his raspy voice.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. His son, Fr. Robert Lampitt, will officiate and burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
To express your love for Art, please have a Mass said for the repose of his soul or make a memorial donation to the Children’s Gaucher Research Fund which seeks a cure for the disease that took his granddaughter: 8110 Warren Court,
Granite Bay, CA 95746.
Family and friends may leave condolences at wrightandsalmon.com.

Daniel H. "Dan" Messmore - January 14, 1972 - April 30, 2024

Departed: 04/30/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: Daniel “Dan” Messmore, age 52, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Dan was born on January 14, 1972, in Peoria, a son of William “Joe” and Gloria (Mehl) Messmore. He married the love of his life, Kelly Oliver, on April 5, 2003 in Peoria.
Dan is also survived by his father, Joe (Sheila) Messmore of Peoria, one brother, Joe (Jamie) Messmore of Peoria, several aunts, uncles, cousins, two nieces Scarlett and Audrey Messmore and one brother-in-law, John Oliver of Georgetown, IL, as well as his beloved 5 little chihuahuas, Czar, Pixie, Moxie, Sprite and Lola. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria.
Dan was a loving man and husband. He was reflective and passionate about his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ and spoke about his faith daily. He loved his wife, Kelly, fiercely and was a faithful and devoted, hard-working husband who did all things big and small to make a wonderful, comfortable home. He loved working outside in the yard and building things (or over-building as he was often teased) with his hands. More than that, he loved researching all the how-to and specifications of just about every action before he decided to take on a project or even make a purchase. He loved the car business and anything pertaining to the auto industry as evidenced by his years of employment with Honda World, Saturn of Peoria, Scherer Automotive and Auto Lane. His recent occupation was as the proud owner of the MarketGuide Magazine Peoria, which he purchased from his father and then created a complimentary publication in Tazewell County. He was passionate about saving money and loved giving others the opportunity to do so through his advertisers and their discount offers.
Dan loved to go on cruise vacations with his wife, Kelly, but he did not love to pack which he left to her. He was always surprised by what he pulled out of a suitcase once on a ship. He enjoyed the experiences brought by the many cruises taken from Alaska to the Mediterranean and in recent years didn’t even care where the ship stopped, as long as the ship had comedy and specialty dining to offer.
Dan loved his family and his friends. He loved hosting cookouts for them and he adored the Fourth of July and all things fireworks! He put together amazing Fourth of July shows that rivaled the professional events and was proudly never ticketed or fined for any of them.
He loved animals, especially dogs, and would often stop everything to pet the nearest dog to him. He specifically loved his own “fleet of Chihuahuas,” especially when everyone was snuggled under a blanket in the family basement watching a movie.
Dan was a kind and wonderful man who would do anything in his power to help a friend, neighbor or loved one. All those who knew and loved him were blessed to have done so.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Further visitation hours will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2023, also at the Mortuary. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Reverend Stephen Barch will officiate.

Mike was born August 30, 1960 in Farmington, IL to Donald and VBernita (Slack) Evans. After graduating high school with the class of 1978, Michael went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in agriculture at the University of Illinois and later obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern Illinois University. He was a practicing lawyer in Wyoming, IL.
Survivors include his partner in life and best friend, Nina Bush, of Dunlap; four children he cared deeply about: Xavier, Quinn, Noah, and Duke; three grandchildren: Jessalynn, Novan, and Lydia; two sisters: Donna Fager and Lynn London; as well as beloved friends: George and Sue Starcevich, Mark Wattley, Charlie and Sarah Boley, Angie Spratt, Guy Trudel, Sarah Eagan, Tom Mazzola, and Brenton Bush. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Diefendorph.
Mike was a beacon of positivity and hope. He brought joy to everyone he touched and has left an indelible mark that is insurmountable. His greatest passion was being at the lake tinkering or doing projects. He would lay on the dock and said that doing so would ease his soul. Mike was an exceptional farmer and took delight in caring for the family farm. He loved his boys more than anything in life and dedicated himself to them - from being a scout leader to being the current Field Marshal for Peoria FC. He was known as Papa Pushover, because the four boys were his whole life. He would drop anything to go build something or help someone else. He was a quick friend to make. He fought stage IV pancreatic cancer for 13 years with optimism and a drive to live. From Mike’s perspective, life and everything life brought to him was “fabulous.” He would always say that he valued each day as a gift from God, and it was his duty to do anything and everything to honor and preserve his life and to so live. Living is exactly what he did. Every day. Every moment. He lived life to the fullest and loved with all of his heart. Now it is our job to live like Mike.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Msgr. Brian Brownsey officiating. Please wear bright colors of blue, as the lake was Mike’s favorite place. A celebration of life will follow the mass. Details to be provided at the mass.
Preferred memorials in Mike’s memory may be made to University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. This was a place of hope that profoundly impacted not only Mike, but also the providers and other patients there. He was so thankful for the care he received there over the last 13 years. Friends and family are encouraged to log onto www.wrightandsalmon.com to sign the online guestbook, submit photos, and share Michael’s memorial page via social media.
