Julie "Lynn" Stancliffe - August 01, 1938 - May 16, 2024

Departed: 05/16/2024 (Rensselaer)
Obituary Preview: Julie “Lynn” Stancliffe Lynn was known as a dedicated wife and mother, summer camp organizer to her grandchildren, fearless leader to her scouts, creative artist to the local community, ambassador for the Sister City Program and
advocate for her patients. Lynn (age 85) left us peacefully on May 16, 2024. There is not enough space to adequately describe her history and impact on our lives. Her education started at Knot Terrace HS, then Colorado University where she still has many friends to this day. She became a certified Physical Therapist and had her own private practice. In addition, she continued her passion in the arts and had her own home pottery studio. Her candle pots are still her family’s favorite! If you were so lucky, you were also a recipient of her handy knitting work. Our family is blessed with her
winter hats and Christmas stockings. For many years she was highly involved in the Girl Scouts & Red Cross. She made a lifelong impact to her troop members who still connect today. Canoe Camp, hot air ballooning, trips to CO and CA, silly songs/skits and many, many s’mores around campfires will never be forgotten. The ballooning led to a vibrant sister city program between Glens Falls, NY and Saga City, Japan. Her loss is felt an ocean away
but if you are fortunate enough to visit you will see her pottery showcased in their city hall. Grandchildren will forever remember special cousin time at Camp Grammy! Caper charts of chores, greased watermelon contests, Pioneer driving through the woods, puzzles, fireworks, hours swimming in the pond and making wishing boats filled their week. Most recently she enjoyed her friends at Prestwick
Chase and watching the wildlife from her window with her faithful furry friend, Buddy. Lynn is predeceased by former husbands, Curt Stancliffe and Cloyd Kerchner. She leaves behind children Matthew Kerchner, Todd Crow and Julie Morin (& son-in-law JF Morin), Annette Kissinger, David & John
Stancliffe; sister and brother-in-law Marianna “Pooky” and Chip Fowler, and countless grandchildren. Lynn did not go anywhere without her calendar and list. There is no doubt she is orchestrating an event where she can be in charge! When you have a moment, please raise your glass (ideally Chardonay) and
toast this beautiful lady. “Good-Bye Ruby Tuesday”, you will be missed.

Derek T. Murphy - January 07, 2001 - May 09, 2024

Departed: 05/09/2024 (Rensselaer)
Obituary Preview: Derek Thomas Murphy, 23, passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends at his home in North Greenbush after a lifelong battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
It is undeniable that Derek made this world a better and brighter place. He was the type of person you meet once in your life and was an inspiration to many. He was a beacon of love and warmth, with a contagious smile. Derek led by example with unwavering kindness, believing so much in others until they believed in themselves. He had a keen and witty sense of humor, luminous spirit and a positive attitude that could brighten even the darkest of days.
Despite physical limitations, Derek chose to live his life to the fullest – a task that was perfectly paired with his unshakable determination and courage. From traveling to Las Vegas for the Jerry Lewis MDA National Telethon, attending legendary sporting events, being the NY State Goodwill Ambassador for MDA in 2008, to meeting his favorite players on the NY Yankees. Derek especially cherished his time with close friends in the East Greenbush Central School District. The 23-year–old lived a life that many seek. As such, he offered a piece of advice to others; “Don’t take things for granted. If you get an opportunity, within your budget, just do it.”
This obituary would surely be remiss if it did not mention Derek’s avid love for sports, a world that he found joy, passion and solace in. You could always find Derek rooting for the Michigan Wolverines, the Yankees, NY Giants and Syracuse Basketball.
But, without a doubt, the cornerstone of Derek’s life was his family – those related and others that he gained along his journey. They anchored his life, advocating for him and fighting each battle alongside Derek, showing just as much grace, patience and compassion. Because of them, Derek’s light and legacy will continue to shine.
Derek was predeceased by his Grandmother Catherine (Kay) Curran (Nana), Great Grandmother Eileen Teal (Nana T), his amazing Uncle Thomas Teal and his loyal service dog Matrix. Derek is survived by his parents John and Sue Ellen (Curran) Murphy; brothers John and Sean Murphy; Grandparents John (Jack) Curran-(Papa), John Murphy (Pa) and Sharon Murphy (Shama); and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Family would like to give their heartfelt appreciation to Branch 358 Letter Carriers, Dr Anthony Malone, Albany Medical Center Providers, Derek’s Personal Caregivers and Community Hospice for the care and support they have provided throughout Derek’s lifetime.
Family and friends are invited to visitation hours Wednesday May 15th from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 175 Williams Rd., Troy.
