Obituary Preview: Timothy (Tim) Lee Mikus, of Newark, Ohio, born on May 9, 1965 passed away Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.
Tim loved to fish; although he never ate a fish he reeled in. He also loved his boat, his truck and his family. We will all miss Tim’s great sense of humor. Tim will be deeply missed by his sisters: Theresa (John) Thomas of North Canton, OH; Jo Mikus of Colorado Springs, CO; Colleen (James) Jackson of Akron, OH; and his beloved fiancé Kimberly Stout of Newark, Ohio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Sondra T. Mikus and Raymond E. Mikus as well as his twin brother Thomas Lee Mikus.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, April 22, 2022 at William Thompson and Son Funeral Home in White Cottage; and Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 9 to 10 AM with services immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Fultonham Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Bob Payne, 92, passed away on Sunday April 3, 2022 at the Oaks at Bethesda. He was born on October 17, 1929, in Duncan Falls, Ohio, to the late Pearl and Laura (Patterson) Payne. Bob was a 1947 graduate of Philo High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954. He spent his career at the Ohio Ferro Alloy Corporation, where he served in many positions, from lab chemist to Safety Director. Bob was a member of Brighton Presbyterian Church, Trinity Presbyterian, and First Christian Churches. He was also a member of the Benevolent Paternal Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) for many years, which he affectionately referred to as the Best People On Earth, and served as Exalted Ruler in the early 1970’s. Bob enjoyed his family, his beautiful creek, golfing, gardening, doting on his grandchildren and sweet dog Velvet, feeding his birds, cheering for his Buckeyes, making his famous hot pepper mustard, and reminiscing about the days when the mischievous Payne boys roamed Duncan Falls.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pat, his identical twin brother Bill Payne, sister Maxine Clark, and three other brothers Daniel Payne, John Payne, and David Payne, daughter Sherree DeMent, and grandson Nicholas Romano.
Bob will be dearly missed by his daughter Kristina (Todd) Hawk of Zanesville, grandchildren Tillman and Leila Hawk of Zanesville, John (Michelle) Romano, Ryan Romano, and Katie Romano of Greenville, South Carolina, his great-grandchildren Destiny, Kaiden, Weston, Jack, Ryan Jr., Baleigh, and Briar Romano, and Ava and Cole Burden, many cousins and friends, and his beloved puppy, Velvet.
A memorial service will be held Thursday April 7, 2022 at First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road. Visiting hour from 10:00-11:00 a..m. and the service will begin at 11:00 with Pastor Laureen Roe officiating. Bob will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery where Zanesville VFW and American Legion will conduct military honors. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Oaks at Bethesda and Genesis Hospice, and requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage is assisting the family.

Great-grandchildren Aliyah Raine Henry, Aryia Josephina Henry, Amaya Charlotte Henry, Tavian William Raine Henry, and Hunter Mason Henry.  He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie (Tignor) Henry, his parents James Henry, Sr. and Eileen Henry, two brothers Michael Henry and James Henry, Jr., one great-granddaughter Jalyssa Raine Henry.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, and was a cabinet maker by trade. He loved woodworking, tinkering in his basement or garage, always making or fixing something. He was very active in the New Lexington congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. South Zanesville - Michael A. Rupe, 72, of South Zanesville went to be with his Lord and Savior, late Saturday evening, March 12, 2022, at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.  Born March 31, 1949, in Zanesville Ohio, Mike was a graduate of Maysville High School and also a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame.  While at Maysville, Mike was an accomplished student-athlete where he was not only the Valedictorian, he also earned a full athletic scholarship to Ashland University to play football. He spent a total of thirty-seven years in education at various schools including: John Glenn High School, Trinity Full Gospel Christian Academy, Sheridan High School, and eventually retired as an administrator from Maysville High School.  Mike also spent seventeen years coaching girls basketball as well as boys football and basketball.  His years spent teaching and coaching impacted many students’ and players’ lives, and numerous adults still refer to Mr. Rupe as their “favorite teacher.”
Along with being an educator, Mike’s passion was in ministry for the Lord Jesus Christ.  As an ordained pastor, Mike spent many years spreading the Gospel, leading Bible studies, witnessing, praying for the sick, playing music in nursing homes, and ministering to people every chance he got.  He was truly a spiritual leader declaring the Gospel of Grace.
For 46 years, Mike was a faithful husband to the love of his life, Diana, whom he met on a blind date at an Ohio State/Michigan football game in 1972 (a story he loved to tell each year).  Mike loved his family and was a remarkable father and grandfather.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons and their spouses: Jason (Julie), David (Elizabeth), and Jesse (Ashley), his ten grandchildren: Jonah, Milo, Michael, Samuel, Daniel, Lydia, Rachel, Joseph, Hannah, and Nathan: his niece, Donna and nephew, Richard, as well as countless cousins and close friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur F. Rupe and Hulda E. Rupe, and his brother Richard H. Rupe.

She also is survived by her father Donald Fisher, brothers Mike Fisher, Don Fisher,Jr. (Punk), and Brady (Rosie) Campbell, sisters Sandy (Bob) Bruce and Barbie (Dean) Hartzler, mother-inlaw Pat Dusenberry, brothers-in-law Mark Dusenberry and Mike (Crystal) Dusenberry, sisters-in-law Marsha Dusenberry and Shirley (Kenny) Jones. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tim Dusenberry, her mother Shirley Fisher, sister-in-law Sarah Fisher, nieces Faith and Hope Fisher, father-in-law Zane Dusenberry, and a dear friend Rhonda Ridenour. Donna was a beautiful and thoughtful soul. She could make you laugh with her funny ways with a laugh that was infectious. Donna loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them. Her health had given her problems these past years, but one thing that never wavered was her faith in God. Oh how she loved the Lord. Anyone who knew her knew three things that she loved and was never afraid to tell you; God, family, and Ohio State Buckeyes and Green Bay Packers. Every phone conversation would end with “I love you and O-H” which was followed by “I-O”. Donna wore many hats in her lifetime, but none she loved more than being a Grandma to Ryder, who was her buddy and her pride and joy. Private services were held on Monday March 14, 2022 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home.

She made pies for Nicol's  Restaurant, belonged to a card club and tops club, She loved gardening, helping out at the Brethren Church and visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Paul H. Slack. Her son Greg (Debbie) Slack and their children Jeremy (Kelly) Slack, Jenny (Konrod) Morris, Jessica (Nick) Stevens; her daughter Vesta (Randy) Cavinee and their children Katie (Doug) Dodson, Mollie (Bo) Lewis; her son David (Tina) Slack and his son Bendigo Slack. 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Hazel Roberts, Evelyn Canter, and Frances Lincicome and by one brother Bill Thompson. He was born on Nov. 30, 1921 in Zanesville, a son of the late Ervin and Gladys (Lewis) Schwartzmiller. He worked at Dutro Ford and retired from Shelly & Sands. He loved golfing, working in the yard, and working on cars and lawn mowers. He was a member of Meadow Farm Church since 1955 where he sang in the choir. He was a World War II Army veteran and was inducted into the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame in 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Elinor Schwartzmiller. Two children Dale (Nichole) Schwartzmiller and Nancy (Paul) Ragias. Two grandchilden Sam (Erin) Schwartzmiller and Marie (Ashton) Ragias-Gaitanos. Two great-grandchildren Scotia and Isla Schwartzmiller.

Daughter-in-law Kyla Rusnak-Beekman (Allen).
