Martin P. Tristine - December 17, 1944 - March 08, 2024

Departed: 03/08/2024 (Stratford)
Obituary Preview: Martin P. Tristine, age 79, of Shelton and Lordship (Stratford) CT, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Martin was born on December 17, 1944, son of the late Martin A. Tristine (affectionately known as “Poppy”) and Mary (Pelletier) Tristine.
Martin was known as “Buz” (yes, with one “z”) to his family and friends, “Uncle Buzzy” to his many nieces and nephews, “Papa” to his 11 grandchildren and “Beach Dad” to the “Beach Kids” of Lordship.
Buz was the beloved husband of Judith (Sekerak) Tristine, his childhood sweetheart and devoted wife of 56 years. Together, they exemplified God’s image of what marriage and family were meant to be.
He was a wonderful human being who touched all who met him with his kindness, selflessness, positivity, warmheartedness and genuine loving nature. His passing leaves a great hole in our lives and he will be dearly missed.
Buz was a proud graduate of Providence College and passionately followed his beloved Friars basketball team up until his death. He obtained an MBA from Columbia University and had a successful career as a finance and operations executive, including 25 years at New Haven Terminal, before finishing his career at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport where he took great pride in serving the Church.
He was an active parishioner of St. Lawrence Church in Shelton and Our Lady of Peace in Lordship, and volunteered extensively at both parishes.
Buz was a proud member of the 1961 Fairfield Prep state championship football team and is a member of the Fairfield Prep Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a huge Yankees fan and an avid golfer. He loved golfing with his children and grandchildren and teaching them the game. He also loved golfing on Sunday mornings at Whitney Farms in Monroe, CT, where he was an original member of the Men’s Club and made his second (yes, second!) hole-in-one at the age of 76. Buz grew up in Lordship and, after moving to Shelton to raise his family, still spent every summer on “The Beach” in Lordship at “The Cottage.” This was his happy place and the scene of so many good times and memories: block parties, sailing the Sunfish, swimming in the ocean, watching the kids jump off the jetty, playing volleyball, listening to Yankee games on the beach, and countless wiffle ball games (and holy cow, did he have a devastating slider!). An appropriate sign hangs in the Cottage which reads “Never a Dull Moment.”
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren: playing games with them, coaching their teams, attending plays and sporting events, driving them everywhere and always helping and teaching them. They equally loved spending time with him. Buz was truly a force for good in the world with his love, faith and positive energy. Despite many health issues after a heart transplant in 2011, he would never complain, telling everyone he was “too blessed to be stressed.”
In addition to his wife, Buz is survived by his four children and their spouses whom he loved as his own children: Cheryl (James) Callery of Hopkinton, MA, Dr. Edward (Faith) Tristine of Monroe, Joseph (Lindsay) Tristine of Monroe, and David (Daniela) Tristine of Wallingford; eleven grandchildren: Taylor, Jake, Eddie, Julia, Katie, Jason, Samantha, Ashley, Daniel, Siena and Sammy; four siblings: MaryAnn Gray of Monroe, Ellen (Hugh) Humphrey of Stuart, FL, Patricia Toth of Stratford, and John (Debbie) Tristine of Shelton; three sisters-in-law: Eileen (Frank) Sullivan of Shelton, Diane Goode of Shelton, and Karen (Pete) McSherry of Milford, and a brother-in-law Dr. Richard (Mary) Sekerak of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Buz was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, George Gray of Monroe and Douglas Toth of Stratford.

Dinora M. Pedron - July 20, 1932 - January 22, 2024

Departed: 01/22/2024 (Stratford)
Obituary Preview: Dinora M. (Vazquez) Pedron, age 91, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Heberto Pedron passed away Monday, January 22, 2024. Mrs. Pedron was born in Mayari, Oriente, Cuba on July 20, 1932, daughter of the late Pedro and Blanca (Almira) Vazquez and had been a longtime area resident.
Dinora’s friends and family will remember her as a sweet, caring person who would whip up a meal in minutes for any unexpected guest at her door. Her family meant everything to her and she was most happy when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her family Sunday dinners were never mandatory but hardly ever missed with any extra dinner guests treated as part of the family. Birthdays were special days where the honored person had their favorite meal served. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and especially doting on her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Nana. Nana had sleepovers, sewing lessons and cooking dates with them and as they grew older offered advice and support when they called with a problem. She was an incredible mother who worked tirelessly in order to provide the best for her children. She was an amazing wife and partner who in time of illness took care of her husband, Heberto, with unwavering dedication.
Dinora knew she was surrounded by love in her final hour. Before her last breaths were taken, she opened her eyes and smiled. A smile that reached her eyes and lit up her face. Her final gift was a peaceful and beautiful ending.
Survivors include her three children, Heberto Pedron Jr., Herlan Pedron and his wife Nancy and Helga Bowen and her husband Kim; five grandchildren, Alana Barba and her husband Adam, Marisa Pedron, Kara Bowen, Nathan Bowen and Jillian Bowen; two great grandchildren, Anderson and Joscelyn Barba and several nieces, nephews and extended family in Cuba.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, CT. Interment will be private.
Friends may visit with her family before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT.
