Obituary Preview: Francis Michael Devins, formerly of Budd Lake, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 at his home at Paragon Village in Hackettstown, surrounded by his loving family. He was 93 years old. Born in Sligo, Ireland on April 29, 1930, he was the son of John and Mary Kate (Carroll) Devins.
While in Ireland, Frank was a professional soccer player for the Sligo Rovers from 1949-1955. He came to the United States in 1956, married his wife Maria (Santeramo) in 1959 and settled in Budd Lake in 1963. They moved to Hackettstown 2 years ago.
Frank was a liquor store manager for Colonial Liquors for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Jude RC Church in Budd Lake, the Knights of Columbus Council 1600 and the Mt. Olive Senior Citizens. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria Immaculata Devins, his loving, daughter Anne Sipinick and her husband Joe, his loving son Brian Devins and daughter- in-law Kathryn, his dear brother, Sean Devins and dear sisters Kathleen Koppel and Pearl Kelly, his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Deaver, Carissa Libhart, Shana Montoya, Kyle Devins, Bridget Devins and Aisling Devins. He also is survived by great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Christopher, Ella, Maddox, Jordi and Addison. Frank was predeceased by his son, Anthony Nicholas Devins in 2011 and his siblings Bertie Devins, Phyllis Cohen, and Doreen Kilcawley.
Frank’s visitation will take place from 12:00pm to 1:30pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. Jude RC Church, 17 Mount Olive Rd. in Budd Lake. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at 1:30pm following the visitation. Interment will be held privately by the family.

Tom Kimpland, Sr - February 11, 1942 - February 12, 2023

Obituary Preview: On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Tom Kimpland, Sr, father of three, grandfather of eight, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. He was a Realtor in NJ and NY for over 40 years and loved helping people find their homes. He also served in real estate leadership positions at the local, state, and national level. His love of service started early with his Eagle Scout award. He served with the National Guard from 1967 to 1970. He proudly served as a member of the Washington Township (Long Valley) Committee for 12 years in the roles of Vice Mayor, Police and Fire Commissioner, and Public Works Commissioner. He served as President, Line Officer, and EMT during 10 years of service with the Long Valley First Aid Squad. He worked with many service groups in Sodus and Wallington NY. He was a graduate of Syracuse University as well as a proud, life-long, vocal supporter of SU athletics. He was an accomplished singer beginning with the Five Tones and other vocal groups at Sodus Central School. He truly cherished the friendships that he made as SCS and worked hard at keeping in touch with his entire graduating class over the years. He sang in many choirs including the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in NYC. He also sang with the Masterwork Chorus where he fulfilled his lifelong dream of performing at Carnegie Hall.
Tom is survived by his former wife, Johanna, her son John Barker and his wife Jennifer, all of Texas. Tom was predeceased by his former wife, Barbara, and is survived by their three children and their families: Bob Kimpland, his wife Tracy, and their children Gwendolyn, Max, and Oliva of Flanders. Tom “TR” Kimpland, Jr, his wife Kathy, and their children Thomas III and Ciana of Hackettstown. Cindy LaBar, her husband Garrett, and their children Hannah, Jack, and Benjamin of Long Valley. He loved watching their sports, plays, performances, and simply spending time with them, but most of all he loved to play the piano and sing with them.
The family will visit with friends at Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main St in Hackettstown, New Jersey on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm followed by a Celebration of Life. Interment will be at a future date in Sodus, NY.

Deanna Rene Hansen - April 19, 1960 - October 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: On October 8, 2022, the world lost an angel and heaven received one. Our sweet Deanna passed away surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 19, 1960, in Chicago, IL to the late James E. Reese and the late Evelyn D. (Peterson) Reese, she lived in Madison and Chatham prior to moving to Long Valley in June of this year.
Before retiring, Deanna was a beloved teacher and later Director of The London Day School in Florham Park. She devoted much of her life to early childhood education.
She cherished time with family, enjoyed arts and crafts, the beach, glögg night, Vermont, Swedish traditions, Rummy 500, the Chicago Cubs and roller coasters.
She is survived by her son Benjamin J. Hansen; sisters: Kristine Samara (Steven), Jennifer Bradshaw (Mark) and Laura Kirsch (Michael); nieces and nephews: Matthew, Zachary, Lauren, Joel, Anna, Olivia and Daniel. Also survived by her friend and former husband Christopher Hansen and her loving and loyal dog Bruce.
A celebration of Deanna's life will take place at Long Hill Chapel, 525 Shunpike Rd., Chatham, NJ 07928 on November 5th at 10:00am.
Cremation arrangements are private.

Maureen was born on July 24, 1944 in Newark, NJ to the late William and Teresa Hibell. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth's and later earn an RN Degree from the County College of Morris. Not only was Maureen a dedicated nurse, but she also owned and operated two successful Nutrisystem locations in Budd Lake, NJ, and Somerville, NJ. Her proudest accomplishment in life was her family with to whom she was devoted. Maureen had a devotion to animals and donated frequently to several animal rescue operations.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ronald William Dolan, three beloved children, eight cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and by her loving brother. She also leaves behind many other loving family members and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Flanders, NJ. Inurnment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ. Friends and family will then gather at the Flanders Fire House for Maureen's Life Celebration.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 76 years, Fred B. White, Jr., son, Fred B. White III and his wife Karen, and son-in-law Dennis Holsopple, four loving grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Lisa Schmidt, Joshua White, and Kent Holsopple, and by eight much loved great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Shirley Holsopple. She is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

Denis worked for Schindler Elevator Co. in their Manhattan office modernizing elevator equipment in New York City. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed canoeing and hiking. He had a passion for craft brews, and also enjoyed fine arts and crafts. His greatest passions in life were spending time on the water, or with his family and friends.
Denis is survived by his loving parents, Miles and Janet Lamb; devoted twin sister, Masha Middaugh and her husband John; his grandmother, Martha Post, and several aunts and uncles: Martha and Neil Szigethy, John and Maria Post, Robert and Michelle Post, Rachel and Tony Novakovic, and Rebecca and Mike Metivier. He is also survived by his dear cat, "Purr," many cousins and other loving family members and friends.

Obituary Preview: Jacqueline "Jax" S. Carey, 16, of Califon, NJ passed away on September 26, 2022. Jax was born on December 1, 2005 in Morristown, NJ to Travis and Victoria (Otero) Carey. Jax lived in Califon and was currently a Junior at Voorhees High School. Jax was a member of the school track team and starred in the hurdle events. Jax was born with a giving heart, volunteering time to the church, Valley View Chapel in Long Valley, NJ, as well as several local nursing homes. Jax was a talented musician and singer, and was a self-taught guitarist, pianist, and drummer. Jax was also a gifted artist, and the artwork could be found throughout the house.
Jax is survived by loving parents, Travis and Victoria Carey, devoted brothers, Noah, Elijah, and Joshua, as well as grandmothers, Marilyn Carey and Emma Otero, and by many other loving family members and friends.
Always giving to others in life, Jax has done so after passing, by donating tissue and organs through the NJ Sharing Network to save the lives of others in need. Jax's legacy will continue to live on through all those saved.
Jax's services will be held privately by the family. There will be a Life Celebration sometime in the Spring.

Lee was born on August 14, 1955 in Maplewood, NJ to the late Karl and Helene Reinartz. She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years Robert "Bob" Goyeneche, her three devoted children, Daniel and his wife Melissa, Robert and his wife Christina, and Corey Burgin and her husband Derek. She was a devoted "Omi" to six grandchildren: Elle, William, Eden, Danny, Lucy, and Archer. She is also survived by her siblings, Renata Bouterse, and Werner Reinartz and his wife Mary Joy, sister-in-law Katherine Sheron and her husband Teddy, godmother to their son Henry and brother Teddy, her dear cat "Holly Berry", and by many other loving family members and friends.
Lee graduated from South Plainfield High School and earned a B.A. in Accounting and MBA in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She worked at various Companies and as a tax Enrolled Agent before retiring in 2009 after a battle with cancer which she ultimately overcame. She raised her family with her husband in Randolph, NJ and after residing in IL, NC, and VA, they moved back to Randolph in 2021 to be closer to the family.
Lee was passionate about animals and donated frequently to several animal rescue organizations and conservancies. She was a loyal patron and supporter of the local library system. As a masterful and fierce Mahjong player, she enjoyed regular high-stakes game nights with friends. Lee was a voracious reader, and enjoyed walking, crocheting and traveling with her husband Bob.
Lee's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday September 27, 2022 from 3pm – 7pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Route 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Service and Family sharing will begin at 6:30pm at the Funeral Home. brother, Walter Zadan, is also recently deceased. Anne had a zest for life, which included her love for opera along with a passion for cooking. She was an avid reader, which included her beloved New York Times and enjoyed decorating and collecting antiques. She appreciated beauty in any form whether it be her beloved antique plate collections, setting a beautiful tea table for family gatherings or her interest in beautiful antique furniture and accessories. She sought the beauty in nature and loved and enjoyed her flowers that she planted every year in her pots. Anne also loved playing Bridge in her younger days. Above all, Anne was devoted to her family, who was her purpose in every aspect of her life. Throughout her life, family gatherings were constant affairs – whatever the occasion, and she relished in making those gatherings as elegant, fun
and inviting as possible.
A private family gathering will be held on September 23, 2022.

George had a passion for hunting, especially elk, bear and mule deer. He loved cars and working with his hands. He was a member of the Chester Township Planning Board and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. George was a world traveler and had incredible stories of trips and cruises over the years with his wife.
George is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cathy Durik (nee Rufolo), his children, Nick Durik and wife Marlene, and Mike Durik and wife Karen, his grandchildren, Michelle Jordan and husband Matt, Michael and wife Kimberly, Christopher, and Matthew, his great grandson, Riley Jordan, his siblings, Richard “Dickey” Durik, Michael Durik, Maryann Tracchio, and Ann Schultz, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Nicole, and brother, Mickey Durik.

At the age of 10, Nick immigrated to the United States from Italy and grew up in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Flanders 49 years ago.
Nick was an avid sports fan, and especially loved rooting for the New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Rangers. He also enjoyed gambling, playing cards, and family poker nights. Nick's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and playing with his best buddy, his French Bulldog Tarkin.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 57 years Marie (née Servedio) DiPaolo, three children, Annette, Michele, and Nicholas, and by his two grandsons, Andy and Lucas. He is also survived by his sisters, Perpetua and Elena. He was predeceased by his sister, Nila and brother, Germano.

Chalapuzhenjayil C. Chacko - November 15, 1930 - September 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Chalapuzhenjayil C. Chacko (Papaji) was born to C.V. Chacko and Aleyamma Chacko on November 15, 1930, in Karichal, Alappuzha (Dist.) Kerala, India. In a family of seven, he was the fourth child, three brothers (Late) C.C Varghese, C.C Idicula and John Chacko and three sisters Aleyamma Jacob, (Late) Sarama Chacko and Annamma Varghese.
After completing his schooling, he travelled to Mumbai for better opportunities. Papaji landed a position on the civilian side of the Indian Navy and served faithfully until his retirement in 1988. In 1963 he married his beloved Ponnamma Chacko and together they raised four loving children Sippy, Simmy, Sinny and Sarosh. He settled in Mumbai, helped his parents and siblings in Kerala and others who were in need. Along the way, he ensured that his children were blessed with loving partners (George Jacob, Philip Varghese, Paul Mathew, and Lisha Paul).
Papaji was an ardent believer of the Orthodox Christian faith and firmly followed the principles of the Church. He provided the highest level of education to all his children which was instrumental to their success in life. In October 2007, his loving wife of 44 years was taken to eternal rest, and he eventually moved to the United States to reside with his son Sarosh and daughter-in-law Lisha.
He was a man with great wisdom and knowledge in Christian liturgy and faith. His joy and affection for family and friends will always be remembered. He was deeply invested in raising his grandchildren (Alka, Alen, Ralph, Neil, Reuben, Renita, Elijah, Ezekiel) and was a great inspiration to them. His legacy also lives on through great grandchildren Angelina, Christina, Amari as well as grand daughters-in-law, Christy, and Parvathy.
All of us who have known Papaji thank the Almighty God for every blessing that we have received through him. We are indebted for the love, joy, wisdom and meaning he brought into our lives. We ask the Lord to strengthen us with His Word as we continue our journey in love, in the way Papaji would want us to. Children, Grandchildren and Great grandchildren

William "Billy" Magro - September 13, 1965 - September 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: William “Billy” Magro of Chester, NJ has suddenly passed away three days before his 57th birthday. Born in Avellino, Italy on September 13, 1965, he was the son of the late Benito Magro and Teresa
Giglio. Billy came to the United States at the age of 13. Within his first year attending Livingston High School, he met his future wife and mother of his kids, Erin Walsh, at age 14. After graduating in 1984, Billy completed a four-year masonry apprenticeship. He has been living in Chester since 1991. As a mason by trade, he started his own masonry business, Avellino Custom Masonry, at the age of 21 years old. In addition to masonry, his hobbies included cooking for his loved ones, gardening, and wine-making each September with everyone he could possibly invite. He also loved to travel the
world and visit his many friends and family throughout Europe. He is survived by his wife, Erin, his daughters Alana and Briana, his brothers, Alfredo and his wife Lena, Dominick and his wife Jacqueline, Benito Jr., and his step-mother Angela Magro; Billy is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Benito and Teresa
Magro and his brother Giovanni Magro. Billy’s Life Celebration will take place on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Rd. Chester, NJ 07930. There will be a Memorial Service
held at 7:00pm following the visitation. On Saturday September 24, 2022, there will be prayers at the funeral home at 10:00am. He will then
be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery where a final committal service will take place.

Obituary Preview: Marie M. (Dilley) Duryea, 83, of Chester, NJ, passed peacefully on September 8, 2022. Marie was born at home in Kenvil, NJ, to the late Nancy (Lambert) Dilley and Charles Dilley. She was the youngest of six children raised in Flanders, NJ. Marie married Russel Duryea in 1960, and Flanders became their hometown for several years. They found their dream property in Chester and have been
proud Chester residents since 1969. Marie and Russ owned and operated R & R Construction Co., Inc. in Chester. She was the Secretary and Treasurer of R & R, took tremendous pride in her responsibilities, and admired their hard-working employees. Marie’s office door was always open to everyone, and she knew how to offer help to
those in need. With ease, Marie weaved her role as a business owner and loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend by blurring the lines between R & R and her family life. She navigated payroll audits, pool parties, flower arranging, sewing projects, whipping up baked beans, clam chowder, or chili, at times on the same day! These wonderful culinary creations found their way onto numerous tables, such as employee birthday celebrations, multiple church functions, Ashley Turkey Farm boxing day, Blair Academy Crew & wrestling events, and Avon Old Farms School football & soccer games. Marie always made time to make something special for anyone who needed a hot meal to help them through a rough time in their life. She never missed sending birthday and Anniversary cards. Her
grandchildren were the pride, joy, and strength of her life. Marie lost her beloved husband, Russel L.
Duryea Jr., in December 2021. A piece of her heart and spirit left when Russ passed. Marie’s life was a fantastic journey designed by her unwavering love and commitment to family,

Greg is survived by his brother James “Brad” Bradford English and his wife Gail, Sister in law Patricia English and his nephews Edward “Ted” English lll and his wife Jennifer, Bradford English and his wife Shanna, Jeffrey English and his wife Diane, nieces, Kathleen Armstrong her husband James, Kristin Richcreek and husband Geoffrey and Colleen English. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Aline, Maria and John who is also his godson, Owen, Dara, Patrick, Kaitlin, Andrew, Jamie, and Jack. He was pre-deceased by his brother Edward Joseph English Jr.

Obituary Preview: Lou, a life-time Chester native, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1950 in Morristown to the late Beatrice and Louis Case. He was a graduate of West Morris Regional High School in 1970 and later a graduate of the NJ State Police Training Academy in 1973. Lou became a full-time patrolman in 1973.
For 27 years, he patrolled the township of Chester, retiring in May of 2000. After that he worked for Spectrum Communications installing police radios in patrol cars. Later Lou worked for the Washington Township Dispatch as a part-time dispatcher, and he loved to work with electronics.
Lou’s dedication to the Chester Community was inherent through his many selfless years of service as a police officer, firefighter, EMT and a Freemason. He received a Life Saving Award, was named Officer of the Year in 1999, and was Squad Member of the Year in 1996 as an EMT. Lou was Chief Engineer, Lieutenant, and Captain throughout his 45 years in the fire department. He was Firefighter of the Year in 2012. Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Georgia (Apgar) Case, his sister, Janice (Case) Corbetis and her husband William Corbetis of Bay Shore, NY, and his sister Joan Case of Long Valley, NJ. His greatest joy was helping people which led to a long life of service. In his spare time, you could find Lou polishing the many vehicles he owned over the years or the firetrucks at the station. He loved the snow and Lou enjoyed plowing and posting pictures on Facebook. In the summer, his lawn was always perfect. He tended to his birds and loved to take videos of the squirrels and all “his critters”. Lou loved his NY Yankees, the NY Giants, and above all, ice cream!
Lou had a big heart and a sense of humor whose selfless acts of kindness touched many people’s lives.
Lou’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday August 23, 2022 from 4pm-8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Rd., Chester, NJ 07930. Thomas was retired from the Randolph Board of Education Transportation Department.  In his earlier years, he worked for The New York Daily News in the Production Department.  He later accepted a position within Management as a Finance Analyst.  This is where Thomas met his wife, Julie.
Thomas enjoyed playing golf and took great pride in maintaining the landscape of his family’s home.   A friend and neighbor once told him, “Spring always happens at your house first”.  Most importantly, Thomas was a family man.  He was immensely proud in every way of his son, Tristan and cherished attending his sporting events which included basketball and ice hockey.
Thomas was a soulful and spiritual man.  He was deeply connected to God, who smiled upon Thomas many times though out his lifetime.  He was blessed with many friends and loved them deeply.  Texting was never his preferred communication – Thomas always chose to call, because he “wanted to hear their voice”.
Thomas is survived by his wife Julie of 30 years, their son Tristan, sister Linda (Scott) Ackerman, nephews Jason Ackerman, Nicholas Ackerman and their families.

He worked for the U.S. Army as a civilian employee for 30 years as Human Resource Manager at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ before retiring in 2003. John has been a member of St. Jude Parish in Budd Lake, NJ since 1982. In 2007 he was ordained to the Diaconate. John was active with the Knights of Columbus for 56 years.
