Barbara Ann Burke – Shinholster was born on December 9, 1954, to the late Mrs. Hattie and Mr. Mason Burke Sr., in Gordon, Georgia. She departed this life on Wednesday, January 26,  at Piedmont Macon Medical Center of Macon, Georgia. Early in her childhood, She joined Gordon Church of God in Christ. Barbara attended Calhoun Consolidated High School. Shortly, after she married Benny T. Shinholster who preceded her in death. Barbara would go on to start a new journey and became employed at the Chicken House in Gordon. She later became employed at Central State Hospital. After years of employment, Barbara ventured to Toomsboro Nursing Home where she worked diligently long hours caring for others until she decided to retire.   Barbara was a loving and caring person who loved to cook and talk on the phone with her family and friends. Barbara was definitely living her best life, taking flights, eating out, and getting her nails done with her main girl, Gloria Burke. She also enjoyed going to church with her favorite niece, Patricia Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings; one sister, Vivian Jackson; and four brothers, Kenneth, Charles, Willie, and Billy Joe Burke. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Sonnequa ( Bryant) Colbert, Tangee (Natarsha) Hall, Crystal (Eric) Evans of Macon, Georgia; Four sons, Demeatress (Erica Shinholster) Jamel, Phillip (Karyn Shinholster) of McIntyre, Georgia, Kendrick of Gordon, Georgia; three sisters, Earnestine Lovett, Larvern McCrory, and Beverly Smith; three brothers, Mason, Danny, Dexter (Kisha); one sister-in-law, Gloria Burke; one uncle, Callie Wilcher; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Public Viewing will be held Monday, January 31, at the funeral home from 10-7PM.

Mother Christy Bell Smith affectionately known as “Big Ma” of Irwinton, was born January 20, 1931 to the parentage of the late Cal Brown and Carrie Oliver Brown. On January 19, 2022 she humbly and peacefully slipped away into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Earl Smith, known as “Deak”.
She was educated in the Laurens County School System.
Mother Christy Bell Smith joined Jordan Stream Baptist Church at an early age. She was a devoted member and attended church services regularly until her health declined.
She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted friend, Mr. Jessie Wright, children, Kathy (Eddie) Rease, Lena (Otis) Mack, John T. (Rosa) Smith, Annie Lee Dean and Tommy Lee Smith, Jr., Rosa Lee Strange and a host of great grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bruce A Todd known as “Nut” age 61 of Irwinton, GA, was born to the late Obie Lee Todd and Pearlene Shinholster Todd, on January 14, 1960 in Dublin, Georgia.
God called Bruce home to rest with the Angels at Pruitt Health Toomsboro Georgia from health complications on Friday, November 5th, 2021. Bruce was union under two churches: St. Paul CME Church in Irwinton, Georgia and Spring Hill CME Church in Gordon, Georgia under his late parents’ leadership.
Bruce received his education from Wilkinson County High School in Irwinton, Georgia  and graduated in 1978, where he was a member of the High School marching band, playing the trumpet. Bruce loved music and was the life on the dance floor. Bruce love working at the family business “Todd’s Place dba Chocolate City, where he danced and entertained many customers for years. Bruce had no problem taking over the dance floor at Chocolate City and dance the night away, and leaving his mark on the dance floor, if Bruce was at the party, you knew you were in for a big treat. Bruce was employed as a contractor for his beloved uncle Elbert Shinholster, working for Shinholster Building Construction. Bruce loved working for his uncle repairing and building homes in the middle Georgia (Wilkinson, Twiggs, Baldwin and Laurens County areas) Bruce was preceded in death by his four Children: one daughter, three sons and nine grandkids Sherod A Todd, Demesco Scott, Nicholas (Roslyn) Todd, and Deirdre Scott. TaSharrie V. Todd, Blessin L. Todd, Treyvione L. Todd, Amyah Todd, Acionna Lowe, Nicholas Todd, Jalaesia Harris, Landon Sims, and Janyla Hughes One sister Susierene (Johnny) Todd-Rumph, one brother Cornelius Todd, a devoted niece/care taker Lalita Todd Washington, brother-in-law, Ronald Williams Sr, two sister-in laws, Alicia Jean Todd of Irwinton, Ga. and Mary Jackson Todd of Milledgeville, GA.; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousin.

Mrs. Aretha James Jones of Irwinton, Georgia was born September 21, 1946. She was called to her heavenly home on September 11, 2021. She was the daughter of the later Thelmus and Zora James. Aretha was preceded in death by her daughter Sulonda Davis; sisters, Zelma Chatman and Helen Stuckey; brothers,  Delmus James and Frank Brown; sister-in-law, Beulah Scott and grandson Tyrese Wright.
She was formerly employed at Wilkinson County Sheriff Department and retired from Wilkinson County School Food Service.
Aretha lived her life in such a way that she will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, fairness, character, benevolence, and a force for good.  She had much respect for everyone she encountered. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love and true compassion.  Aretha dedicated her life to her family and friends, and for that, she was loved by everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her memories her sons Edward Lee Jones, Jr. (Janice), Donald Dodson (Elizabeth); daughter Latricia Jones; sister Patricia Brown; grandkids Shivonta Veal, Jaleel Jones, Dontae Dodson, Devontae Dodson, Gabriel Rogers, Meagan Dargan, Amy Myrick, Tiasha Boyd, Heaven Boyd, Haven Boyd; great grandkids Xorri Veal, Xhaavin Veal, Xiiah Miller, Shantia Daniels, Skila Wright, Xzavier Liggins; her babies Deltin Moore (Kenya), Jayce Ford; son-in-law Marvin Jerome Davis; sisters-in-law’s Patricia Williams and Delois Wiggins; brothers-in-law’s Bernard Hughes and T-Roy Scott; longtime friends Sarah Thorpe, Annie Jean Whipple, Sharon Whipple; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

On June 25, 1965 our Guiding Light was born to the late Justine Sims and Samuel Lee Sims. She attended the public school system in Brooklyn, New York. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was employed at Lithonia Lighting in Cochran, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her significant other Frank Anderson “F.E”, her parents Justine Sims and Samuel Lee Sims, aunts and uncles; Daisy Sims, Dewayne Sims, Ulysses Sims, Melinda Johnson,  Peate Simpson, Sammie L. Davis “Junebug”,Charlie Mapp “GEI”, Hollis Davis and aunt Ada Mae Todd and granddaughter Faith Taylor.

Ms. Marjorie Annette Pitts of Irwinton, GA was born on August 30, 1956 and was called to her heavenly home on April 16, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Ananias Pitts and the late Margaret B. Pitts. At an early age, Marjorie became a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church.
Marjorie attended Calhoun Consolidated High School and graduated from Wilkinson High, class of 1974 and furthered her education at Morris Brown College. She then started her career at GEICO and continued her employment there for 30 years until she retired.
In Marjorie’s free time, she enjoyed sewing in younger years, singing, and playing the piano for her home church, New Macedonia Baptist Church. She also took her talents to numerous other churches such as Union Hill Baptist Church, Samuel Grove Baptist Church and St. Phillips AME Church, to name a few.
She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her career. And for that, she was loved by everyone she encountered.
Marjorie leaves to cherish her memories: Two children, Mardrena Smith (Greg) of Gordon, GA, and Mikell Stringer of Irwinton, GA; two brothers, Amos Shawn Pitts (Gail Hollis) of Milledgeville, GA, and Billy Pitts (Freda) of Macon, GA.; two nieces, Ebony Pitts and Tambrea Pitts; two nephews, Quenlin Williams, and Shawn Pitts; devoted cousin but more like a sister and brother, Gloria Howell and Harold Lee Pitts; and a host of cousins and friends.

Rodney Vashone Harris “Pimp” was born June 17, 1976 to Louvenia Harris Patterson and the late Gary Lee Smith.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Christine B. and Willie James Harris, Odessa A. and Willie James Smith, Sr.
He attended Bibb County School System and later received his GED from Central Georgia Technical College. He was employed by Horton Homes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a very caring and compassionate person.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021 God reached out with his outstretched arms to enfold Rodney as he sent some angles to guide Rodney to his new home.

Mrs. Christine Williams Knight was born April 19,1938 to the parentage of the late Ellen Thornton Williams and the late John Henry Ward Williams. She departed this life on Tuesday , April 06, 2021. She was preceded in death by devoted husband ,Roosevelt Knight, sister , Viola Carswell, and granddaughter, LaTasha Horne. As a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt she developed at an early age a nurturing spirit and caring heart.
Born in Wilkinson County on John Ross Pond , she was a member of Parker Spring Baptist Church. She attended Brundage Mt. School.
She was formerly employed at Baldwin County Hospital. She later retired from Green Acres Nursing Home with twenty-five years.

Willie James Smith, Jr. was born on May 05, 1954 to the late Mr. Willie James Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Odessa Anderson Smith.  On March 22, 2021, he departed this life and entered into eternal rest.
He was preceded in death in death by his brother, Gary Smith and two sisters, Gwendolyn S. Adside and Elaine Smith.
Willie, affectionately known as “Sweet” received his education through Wilkinson County Public School System. He joined Shiloh First Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed at Mill Industrial Company at an early age.  He retired after 40 years of dedicated service.  Willie was well known around Gordon for his dancing and good spirit.  Willie enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Fred Hill was born March 14, 1957 in Toomsboro, Georgia to the late Clifford Hill, Sr. and Florine Hill. Fred was a graduate of Wilkinson County High School Class of 1975. He retired from Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia after 34 years of service as a Forensic Service Technician. He attended services regularly at Grace Christian Center in Gordon, Georgia until his health prohibited him from attending.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ira Hill, Clifford Hill, Jr., Eddie Hill, Paul Hill and Samuel Hill.

Ms. Mamie L. Scott was called home to on February 9, 2021 to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Earlean Scott Veal and her brother Carstell Scott.

Our dear beloved, Sister Rose Mary Lawrence, departed this life on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was born to the parentage of Mr. Tommie Lee Lawrence and Mrs. Catherine Pearl Lawrence on October 22, 1958. She was raised in Gordon, Ga where she attended grade school, graduating at Wilkinson County High School in 1976. Upon receiving a basketball scholarship to Fort Valley State College, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Sister Lawrence became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Gordon, Ga under the leadership of Rev. O.L. Morris where she served as President of the Junior and Senior Usher Board, a member of the hospitality committee and she was also a vacation bible school teacher. She retired from Baldwin County Board of Education after 27 years. Afterwards, she was hired at The National Children’s Study which was federally funded in Baldwin County. After her stint there, she became an employee of Wilkinson County Memorial Chapel where she was currently employed since 2012. She was also a current member of the City Counsel of Gordon, Ga. She was very active in the community where she was involved in several groups and committees. Among them are President of The Wilkinson County Tip-Off Club (10+ years), The Regional Development Authority, a volunteer of BASIC, Wilkinson County Recreation Board and many more.
She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy: Son, Clifford Hill (Chantelle) and daughter, Ebony Hill. Siblings: Gerri L. Smith (Ronny), Sandra L. Fordham (David), Vivian L. Cummings (Michael), Melvin Lawrence (Tammy), Terry Lawrence (Kay), and Jason Lawrence. Grandchildren: Arianna, Londyn, Jayden, Chase, Raiven, Laila and Kenleigh.
