Obituary Preview: Hazel H. (Wundrow) Norman, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday January 3rd, 2020 at Rennes Health & Rehab Center.
Hazel was born February 22, 1921 in the Town of Buchanan, Outagamie County, State of Wisconsin, the 3rd daughter of the late August and Mary (Gergs) Wundrow. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Appleton. Hazel married Lawrence Norman on October 23rd, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived at various locations in Appleton their entire married lives. Hazel especially loved her Condo in Windfield Place and often times said it was the best move they ever made. She was able to live there independently until she was 96. Hazel worked for Kimberly Clark for 34 years, retiring in 1976. Hazel was a longtime member of the Elks Club. She enjoyed singing and performed in Chaminade Women’s Chorus. She did various volunteer works in retirement including delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering at Appleton Memorial Hospital. Hazel loved nature (Especially Fall colors), music and animals with a special passion for horses.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Katharine “Kitty” (Virgil) Miller of Topeka Kansas; 1 step- grandchild (Michael Miller); 6 step- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lawrence; her brothers-in-law (Bob, Jack and Bill) her sister-in-law Ruth Coleman half-brothers and sister, Arthur (Gladys), Walter (Irene) and Elsie; her brothers and sisters, Adela (Ben) Heideman, Harvey (Hilda), Elsie (Harry) Warren, Ray (Della), Clarence (Ethel), Elmer (Harriet), Robert and Leonard (Myrtle) and a step-grandson (Kevin Miller).

Geraldine E. Albrecht - March 18, 1939 - January 01, 2020

Obituary Preview: Geraldine “Gerry” Albrecht, 80, Appleton, passed away on January 1, 2020. She was born on March 18, 1939, to the late Edward and Helen (Siedel) Altman in Laona. Gerry married the love of her life Lloyd “Bud” Albrecht on August 2, 1958, together they celebrated 58 years. They enjoyed their cabin in Newald where they spent time outdoors snowmobiling, four wheeling and boating. Gerry liked to crochet, knit and do needlework. She was a Packers fan and was fond of watching the games.
Gerry is survived by friends Dale and Diane Robertson and sister-in-law Josephine Altman.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Bud, sister Bernice (Dillman) Quinn and brother Bernard “Salty” Altman.
In accordance with Gerry’s wishes there will not be any funeral services held.

Obituary Preview: Donna Mae (Scheibe) Klatt, 78, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019. She was born on December 17, 1941, to the late Victor and Erma (Sievert) Scheibe in Appleton. Donna was united in marriage to James Klatt on February 11, 1967, at Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton. She was employed at J.J. Keller as an Office Clerk for the transportation department, retiring in 2006. Donna enjoyed crocheting and was very good at quilting. She was a perfect mother and a loving grandmother.
Donna is survived by her husband James, children Deborah (Steve) Arfstrom and Julie (Gerald) Schuette, grandchildren Ashley Yarbrough, Brian Arfstrom, Melissa Arfstrom and Jessica Schuette, brothers Larry (Jane) Scheibe, Lester Scheibe, sister Susan (Jack) Huff, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Donna was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Ann Grimm, Betty Runge, and Carol Geiger.
A funeral service for Donna will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 473 Seventh St., Menasha, 54952, with Pastor David Skarsten officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

Cindy Jo Gackenheimer - August 30, 1971 - December 25, 2019

Obituary Preview: Cindy Jo (Holm) Gackenheimer, 48, passed away the afternoon of Christmas Day, December 25, 2019 at her home in the Village of Harrison, surrounded by her children, parents and husband. Cindy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer in February 2019.
She was born August 30, 1971 in New London, Wisconsin to Wirt and Carol (Krake) Holm. She married Mark Gackenheimer December 31, 1995 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Mark and Cindy raised two sons together: Ryann Wirt, and Jeremy David; and two daughters Emma Nicole and Ellie Jade.
Cindy graduated from Hortonville High School in 1989 and attended Fox Valley Technical College. She held numerous career positions throughout including home maker, Office Manager, Insurance Specialist, and GM of Tumbleweed Restaurant. After leaving the workforce, Cindy pursued her passion in photography starting her own professional photography studio specializing in Senior and family portraits. Most recently she returned to school at the Academy of Salon Professionals to pursue a career in cosmetology and hair design.
Cindy had a love for the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. From camping to country music festivals, water skiing on Lake Winnebago to jet skiing on the quarry at the family farm, she embraced being a mom and grandmother and cherished her time with girlfriends catching up with a glass of wine on the couch. Cindy was a true fitness warrior ranging from her workouts at the YMCA to her most joyful activity - training countless hours peddling her bicycle preparing for the annual 100 mile Race the Lake around Lake Winnebago.
Cindy attended Christ the Rock Community Church where she served in Son Harbor Children’s ministry for many years. Cindy had a strong faith in Christ and even in her final hours, her faith was bold and unwavering, witnessing to countless friends and strangers following her journey on Facebook as she shared her story about her fight with cancer. Even in her final hours, she truly believed God has a purpose for taking her at such a young age. She will be missed dearly by all those she has touched in her short time on Earth, and most noticeably will be missed by her young daughters.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband Mark, sons Ryann (and wife Sarah) and Jeremy (fiancée Kayla Knutzen), daughters Emma and Ellie, granddaughter Maiya Gackenheimer, parents Wirt and Carol Holm, sister Cheryl Holm, brothers Rusty (and Kari Megadanz) Holm, Jerry Holm, brother in-law Jeffrey (and Susan) Gackenheimer, sister in-law Julie (and Christopher) Porter.
Cindy was proceeded in death by her parent-in-law Joyce Gackenheimer and David Gackenheimer.
Visitation for Cindy will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, 1592 Oneida St., Menasha, WI 54952. A Celebration of Life Service, as was her dream, for Cindy will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Christ the Rock Community Church, W6254 US-10 114, Menasha, WI 54952. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow, after a short fellowship, at 1:30 PM in High Cliff Cemetery, Sherwood, WI.

Jennifer L. "Jenny" Hoffman - February 20, 1960 - December 19, 2019

Obituary Preview: Jennifer (Jenny) Lynn Hoffman was born on February 20, 1960 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 19, 2019 at the age of 59. Jenny was born in Wisconsin and was brought up by her maternal grandmother, Bertha Moore, until age three in Odanah on the Bad River Indian Reservation. She was fostered by Urban and Dorothy Hoffman, and then adopted into their family in 1964 becoming a younger sister to Marcy.
A 1978 Kaukauna High School graduate, Jenny later pursued postsecondary education at Marquette University. In 1986, she graduated with a BSN and became a Registered Nurse all after recovering from a stroke she suffered at age 25. Jenny was passionate about nursing and as long as her health allowed, she achieved a successful nursing career working at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, AMS Nurse Hotline, Humana in De Pere, and the Oneida Community Health Center.
Throughout her life, Jenny struggled with many serious health conditions which she bravely confronted, until ultimately losing her last battle to cancer. She was the recipient of two life-saving kidney transplants. The generous gifts she received provided her with over 35 years of life. She also received successful heart surgery at Mayo Clinic.
Jenny and her sister had a wonderful childhood growing up on the north shore of Lake Winnebago where they spent summers swimming and winters sledding. She adored the children in her family and was very involved in their lives. Celebrating birthdays, holidays, gift-giving, crafting, visiting the Lake Superior area in the summertime and her beloved dog Chico were some of her many joys.
Jenny had a signature sense of humor and a very generous spirit. She will be fondly remembered by her close friends and deeply missed by her family. Per her wishes, her ashes will be spread on Mooningwanekaaning-minis, Madeline Island.
Jenny is survived by her sister Marcy (Marty) Weyers, nephews and nieces Ross (Stephanie) Weyers, Ann (Pedro) Weyers de Ibarra, Philip Weyers and Hayley Weyers, great nephews and nieces Layla, Myles, Evelyn, Xavier, Elysium and Danilo and special biological aunts Leola and Daisy.
Jenny is preceded in death by her parents Urban Hoffman and Dorothy VanGheem Hoffman.
The memorial visitation for Jenny will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, 1592 S, Oneida Street, on Saturday December 28th at 12 Noon. Memorial visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of services.

Arnold Vanden Boomen - May 19, 1926 - December 11, 2019

Obituary Preview: Arnold (known by all who loved him as simply “Arnie”) passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2019. Arnie was born in Green Bay on May 19, 1926, son of the late Anton and Caroline (Babiash) Vanden Boomen. After his junior year of high school in 1945, Arnie was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps and served for two years in Korea. He was discharged late in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. On October 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Joanne Williquette; she preceded him in death in February of 2006.
Arnie will be remembered by all for his ownership of Appleton Vault Works. For decades, Arnie served countless area families by laying their loved ones to rest with dignity and loving hands. Arnie was also a member and past president of the Northside Business Association, a member and past president of the Wisconsin Burial Vault Association, and served on the Appleton City Advisory Committee. He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, and most recently was a frequent assistant for funeral masses. In his younger years, he was involved with the Boy Scouts at both St. Therese and St. Pius parishes in Appleton.
The St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System had no greater supporter than Arnie Vanden Boomen. He was the founder and first president of the Xavier Booster Club. In 1976 and 2017 he was presented with the Xavier Booster Club Red Smith Service Award, and in 2016 not only received his high school diploma, but was also given Xavier’s Honorary Alumni Award. Arnie rarely missed a sporting event. He was always in the crowd, proudly wearing school colors, and cheering on the Hawks. He will be missed there, but his vacant seat in the bleachers will forever bring fond memories to his countless Xavier friends.
Arnie leaves behind three sons: Michael (Charlene), Rick (Charlie), and David (Lora). His grandchildren are Chad (Jamie), Jenny (Dave), Ron (Shirley), Elizabeth, David, Michael, and Lisa; great-grandchildren: Joey, Samantha (Shawn), Kelly, Katie, Noah, Connor, Spencer, Maggie, Cooper, Sophia, Oliver, Greyson, and Charlie. There are also two great-great-grandchildren: Leo and Eli. He is also survived by a brother: Gene Vanden Boomen, and a sister-in-law: Sandy Vanden Boomen.
Waiting in heaven to meet Arnie were his parents, his wife Joanne, grandsons Andy and Michael, a great-granddaughter Faith, siblings Jim, Lee (Elaine), Roger, and Joyce, and three sisters-in-law: Ceil (Don), LaVerne (Bill), and Bernice (Jim).
The funeral liturgy for Arnie will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton. Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap. will officiate, and Arnie will be laid to rest next to Joanne at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel, located at 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again Saturday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service Friday evening at the funeral home at 7:00 PM.
It was Arnie’s wish that there be no flowers. Rather, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Food Program, or the Arnie Vanden Boomen Scholarship Fund at Xavier High School.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone at Prairie Home Elder Service in Menasha, especially to Mike and Tanya, for the special attention they devoted to Arnie’s care. We will never forget your kindness.

Minnie lived on their farm in Bowler for over 70 years where she loved feeding the humming birds and watching the deer and cardinals. She worked and owned a bar for many years and later in life she was a bus driver for Lakeland services.
Minnie is survived by her children; Gloria (Jerome) Weller, Allan (Linda) Rickert, and Bruce (Lorry) Rickert, 9 grandchildren; Shelly, Jeffrey, Rob, Stephanie, Carrie, Shawn, Adam, Dennis and Rich, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Obituary Preview: Alex M. Everson, 20, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2019. He was born on March 30, 1999, in Oshkosh, the son of Paul and Michelle (Stupar) Everson. Alex graduated from Menasha High School, the Class of 2017, and played basketball for Menasha High School. He loved spending time at the beach skimboarding with his brothers, boating, and fishing at his grandparents’ home in Hayward. Alex also enjoyed listening to music, hanging out with his friends, basketball, and playing with his dogs. He will be remembered most for his charismatic personality, always being the life of the party, his infectious smile and laughter, and his unruly hair.

John Jeske - November 24, 1936 - December 07, 2019

Obituary Preview: John Joseph James Jeske passed away peacefully on December 7, 2019.
He was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Agnes and Harry Jeske; the middle of three sons. When he was 14, the family moved to Three Lakes, Wisconsin where they owned and operated a resort on Planting Ground Lake.
After completing his under graduate and Master of Fine Arts degrees, he and his new bride moved to Appleton and he began a 37 year career teaching art at James Madison Middle School. John also enjoyed teaching art to children and adults as part of summer and night classes.
At an early age, he developed an interest in wood working and design that grew into a lifelong passion for furniture making and architecture.
He was an avid photographer since childhood and developed a keen interest in nature photography; especially birds.
He was a member of the Appleton Curling Club and enjoyed the “roaring game” for 30+ years.
Upon retirement, John and Joeleen traveled extensively in Europe and spent their winters in Padre Island, Texas. In addition, they both enjoyed designing and creating objects d’ art from gourds.
He is survived by his wife Joeleen, daughters Jill Jeske (Kyle Bolton) and Amy Burbach (Troy Burbach) and grandchildren Laura and Kevin Burbach. Son Douglas Jeske predeceased John.
The family would like to thank the third floor staff at St Elizabeth Hospital and the Thedacare Hospice staff at Cherry Meadows for their compassion and care.
The family intends to have a private celebration of life. The family welcomes donation in John's name to the James Madison Middle School art program.

He was born on July 2, 1963, in Galveston, Texas, the son of Robert and Mary (Witters) Quasius. Michael graduated from Homestead High School, Mequon, Class of 1981. He was united in marriage to Nancy Sartell on April 12, 2001. Michael will be remembered most for his love of his family, having a great personality, and being an all-around likeable guy. He had a gift to connect with all people from all walks of life and that aided him in his sales career. Michael had a passion for the outdoors that included hunting and fishing, and an unmatched knowledge of nature and his surroundings. He was an avid Wisconsin fan, often cheering on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers.
Michael is survived by his wife: Nancy; step-son: Kyle; parents: Robert and Mary; three brothers: Mark (Barb), Tom (Kim), Bob (Denise) and brother-in-law Jon Sartell. Nieces and nephews: Grant, Lauren, Katie, Ethan, Zach, Emma, Stephanie and Sarah. He is further survived by many other friends and relatives.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Marie Quasius and William and Helen Witters, and in-laws Ervin and Patricia Sartell.

Carl Herman Wood - September 27, 1927 - November 27, 2019

Obituary Preview: Carl “Woody” Herman Wood, 92, of Ephrata, PA passed away with his family at his side on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. He was born on September 11, 1927, in Jonestown, PA to the late Lillian (Tobias) and Carl Wood. Carl enlisted in the United States Army in 1955, earning a Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in 1957. Carl was united in marriage to Yvonne Smitherman on July 20, 1956, in Elkton, Maryland. He was employed as a mechanic working on trucks for Clark Company. Carl took joy in playing his harmonica and wood working, he carved trains, cars, and toys. He was a lifelong Penn State and Philadelphia Flyers fan. Carl enjoyed taking trips to Nevada for Elk hunting. He was a happy person with a boisterous laugh.
Carl is survived by granddaughter Lauren (Chris) Englebert of Menasha, WI; grandson Curt Lindelow of Greenville, SC; son-in-law David Lindelow of Charelston, SC; 2 great-grandchildren Conor and Grace Englebert.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca Jean Lindelow, wife Yvonne D. Wood and his siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff at Park View Health Center for their support and compassion.
In accordance with Carl’s wishes, he will be brought home to Lebanon County, PA to Rest In Peace with his wife, Yvonne “Dolly” Wood. A memorial will be hosted once he is home. Burial will take place in Indiantown Gap Nat. Cemetery, PA.

Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barbara Ann Neubauer - August 30, 1946 - November 16, 2019

Obituary Preview: Barb, 73, greeted the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton with her family by her side after a brief and courageous battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She was born on August 30, 1946, in Fond du Lac, WI. The second of four daughters to Ervin and Marie (Ecker) Hauser, she was raised in Stockbridge and later moved to Sherwood. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1964, she met the love of her life, Bill, and was married on November 23, 1966, at Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. Bill and Barb lived their life together first in Appleton, then Oak Creek for 2 years, moving back to Appleton in 1972.
Barb worked various jobs throughout her life, with the most important being a mom to her children and a "Granny" to her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren compete in sporting events, perform in concerts, or act in school plays, no matter the weather or distance to travel.
