Obituary Preview: Connie was born in the city of Pekalongan, in the Central Java province of Indonesia. She was the youngest of ten children, who lost her father at the age of 5. During World War II, she also had to endure the Japanese occupation of Indonesia. After Indonesia declared its independence in 1949, she emigrated with her family to The Netherlands in 1950. It was here that she would eventually meet her husband and the love of her life, Richard Java - who had also emigrated from Indonesia with his family. They married in 1957 and had their first two children, Ruby and Joyce, in Amsterdam. In 1960, they seized the opportunity to settle in the United States. In 1961, their only son, Errol, was born in El Cajon, California. Their last child, daughter Deborah, joined the family in 1966. Connie also had two grandchildren, who she was immensely proud of and loved dearly - Makeda Cox and Ethan Brassey.Connie enjoyed traveling and all the lovely outings spent in the company of her family, extended family and friends - both here in the US, The Netherlands and in Australia. Kyle loved strong and fast; he never ended a call without saying he loved you to everyone. Obituary Preview: Becky Donahue - September 5, 1956 – May 25, 2022Becky Donahue passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her children and loved ones, early in the morning hours of May 25, 2022. These last few months found her bravely and resolutely battling late-stage mucosal melanoma, first diagnosed in March of this year. A lifetime California resident, she was born in Pasadena but enjoyed many years in Northern California and the Bay Area before relocating to San Diego to raise her children. She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Dave, and her adoring children, Elizabeth Beck and Henry Thomas. Becky was a lifetime scientist, gardener, cook, and adventurer. As a young girl she kept busy riding, exploring, and playing with her large family and ever-growing circle of friends. She proudly organized elaborate and cherished annual family reunions which she transformed during the pandemic into a weekly Zoom call and book club. A pillar in her local Poway community, she did everything from developing science education programming for elementary schoolers to running several high school athletic programs and volunteering with textbook distribution each fall. Vivacious and bright, she formed communities in every circle she found herself. As a scientist, she pioneered biomedical, pharmaceutical and regulatory development, the likes of which are now the gold-standard within regulatory governance and operation. She consulted most recently for Cedars-Sinai, leading the push for cutting-edge therapies and treatment innovation with the Svendsen Research Lab, and particularly their stem cell and retina research groups. She especially loved early morning walks, heirloom gardening, lavender labyrinths, fly fishing, reading as much as she could lay her eyes and ears upon, sharing her sourdough starter ‘Beverly,’ long hot baths, cooking for her family, her scented geranium and rosemary bushes, buttermilk waffles, playing Scrabble with family, wide open spaces, and cuddling up to whatever furry friend needed her the most. Smart, savvy, and sassy, Becky was always the funniest person in any room. Vivacious to the end, she led by example and always demonstrated the importance and powers of gratitude, grit, grace, and a generous heart. Direct and fair, she forgave quickly and well the moment you sought it from her. The woman who could and did. Forever will her legacy of love and leadership light our days, lift our hearts, and guide our paths.

She considered her patients and employees as family.Blanche was a leader in her field. She treated many patients who couldn’t afford hearing aids. She developed hearing aids for dogs. She was involved in many other projects and remained an expert in her field. The State of California often called upon her to be a professional witness for cases involving malpractice and hearing disabilities.Blanche was also a Professor of Audiology at San Diego State University. She mentored her students and helped them to excel.In 2010, she attended Arizona School of Health Sciences, earning her Doctorate in Audiology.Preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Ken Blackington, her younger brother Kevin Blackington, and her great-niece Nadia Ruby Silver-Ruiz, she will be missed by her family. Obituary Preview: Jonathan Dmitri Fourmyle was born on August 6, 1987, in San Clemente, California, and died on March 27, 2022, in Oceanside, California.At 9 months, Dmitri was walking like a champ! He excelled at anything he tried from ballroom dancing, to track and field, skateboarding, football, and life sciences; nothing seemed unattainable for him. At age 14, his eldest sister got him interested in ballroom dance and he was a natural! He loved to dance, to listen to music, to jump and skip rather than simply walking, and everything else that brought him and others joy. He was extremely social and loved taking to Everyone. Dmitri was the kindest, most selfless person you could ever meet, always willing to help anyone to the point of giving you the shirt off his back! Literally. He would go above and beyond to help anybody he could. He had the most compassionate and loving spirit, always so amazed by nature, scaling trees and playing outside until we made him come in. On trips to developing countries, he would cry for those he saw experiencing hardship, knowing he could do little to help them. Unfortunately, his battle with mental health led to his time on earth being plagued by drugs and homelessness. He wanted to change for his son, whom he adored, but always ended up tormented because he couldn't seem to make the changes needed. No matter how many times Dmitri was down, experiencing hardship and misfortune, he always got right back up and made the best of it. We were all shocked and heartbroken on March 27th when he never stood up again, after one last night wandering the streets, cold and alone. Thank you to Brother Benno (https://brotherbenno.org) and ALL who helped Dmitri along the way. His mom, sisters, and brothers tried to rescue him countless times. It seems he was too much of a pure, free spirit for this earthly existence and there was nothing that anyone could do to change his path. Gone too soon, but never forgotten, we love you Meecho and will never be the same without you. May your soul finally rest in peace with Dad and your grandparents who are there to welcome you to your true home where you are unconditionally loved and free to be the vibrant, shining spirit that you are. We know you are watching over your son and family, shining your love on us, always. They have resided in the Cardiff / Encinitas area since 1998.Carlos went to college to learn horticulture and eventually branched out into landscape design and maintenance as well as home and building improvement.Carlos loved the American Indian culture. At one time in our lives we lived on the Rincon Indian Reservation in Valley Center. Like the American Indian values, Carlos appreciated the universe as part of God’s creation and often talked about the universe as a whole, the harmony of the individual with the tribe, the tribe with the land, and the land with the spirit of the universe. Central to this is a belief in the Creator of all things and the Giver of all Life, nature as the foundation of existence, and the giving of respect to everything and everyone.Carlos was a worker. He always had a project going. He was always engaged in earnest, hard work. He loved the challenge of moving a giant bolder, transforming a yard into a garden, or building a beautiful shed. He was a perfectionist in his work. He would sometimes take a long time on a project because he didn’t want the work to end. He spent his days watching sunrises and sunsets, working on projects, going to the gym, reading, and watching sports.To those who met him or knew him, he was just an incredibly amazing father, grandfather, friend, husband, person, and storyteller. He was a giver of wisdom to anyone who would listen. He was also such a unique character with a quirky sense of humor.He was an incredible athlete - participating in triathlons, racquetball tournaments, golf and more. He loved running, swimming, biking, and was a spectator and fan of any and all sports. He coached his 3 kids in sports, and loved watching his grandkids play sports - Jessica playing basketball, Dominic playing soccer, Jordan playing volleyball, Luke playing baseball, and Joel wrestling. He also adored Jordan as a singer, Olivia playing violin, and Elle dancing.His love language was service, always ready to do something for someone. He loved the ocean, and water....he swam like a fish and always said that “God is in the water”. He had an incredible gift for creating beauty in nature with his hands, planting, growing, and gardening. He loved books, reading and knowledge. He always pointed out Gods hand in life, and in nature. He taught us to make God our center. Family was his everything. He was our Champion.

Obituary Preview: William Stanley “Bill” O’Brien, Jr. passed away peacefully, holding hands with his wife and partner of 43 years, after a brief battle with bladder cancer, on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was 68 years old, a resident of Anaheim for over 20 years, and of Orange County for over 50 years. Bill was the 1st of 7 children born to William Stanley O’Brien, Sr. and Joan Carol (Nemec) O’Brien in Columbus, Ohio, on May 29, 1953. From Ohio, the family moved to Santa Maria, California in 1959 so that Bill, Sr. could work at Vandenberg Air Force Base as an aerospace engineer during various phases of the U.S. Space Program. In 1963 the family moved south to La Habra, California and Bill graduated from La Habra High School in 1971, where he competed on the Debate Team. He then attended California State University at Fullerton where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Bill was also active with the student radio station, KBPK, at Fullerton College as he was a lifelong music lover.Bill worked for 15 years for Stoody Company in the City of Industry until the company moved to Kentucky. At Stoody, Bill was very involved in his union, serving as a shop steward and on the labor side of the contract negotiation team. Here he earned the admiration and respect of both the management and union negotiators, as well as rank and file union members, for his calm demeanor, fairness, and level headedness. After Stoody Company left Southern California, Bill was employed as a technician in the Workers Compensation Insurance field for State Compensation Insurance Fund at their offices in Los Angeles and Santa Ana where he received awards for his work and from which he eventually retired in 2018 after 26 years of service.Bill met his wife, Marguerite Milligan, at the La Habra Drive-In Theater where they both worked, in 1974. They had a son, Cameron Milligan O’Brien, and Bill enjoyed participating with Cameron in Cub Scouts and then in Boy Scout Troop 93 in Fullerton and was a very proud Eagle Scout Dad. Bill was a fan of both Angels and Dodgers baseball, comic books, and classic rock, especially The Beatles, The Byrds and The Beach Boys. In the 1980’s Bill was president of West Coast Comic Club and was a member of the security crew during a few of the earlier years of the San Diego Comic Con.Bill is survived by his wife, Marguerite, his son, Cameron, his brothers Dennis (Anne), Mike, Kevin (Cathy) and Jon, and his sister Kathy (Mike) Horgan as well as over two dozen nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill, Sr. and Joan O’Brien, and his sister, Mary. His kind smile, soothing, deep voice, encyclopedic knowledge of classic rock, and gentle sense of humor will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his large and loving family.A Celebration of Life will take place this fall.

Ryan has seven grandchildren, Wyatt Eastwood, Scarlett Eastwood, Ivy Freeman, Dempsey Freeman, Sunny Freeman, Florence Kelley, and Winter Eastwood. Ryan was always so proud of his children and grandchildren, and they were his greatest pleasure in life. Ryan adored his dog, whom was his loyal companion, Brando, who stood by his side for 19 years. In addition to his two cats he rescued, Cecil and Luna. Ryan was known to take pleasure in the simple things in life and enjoyed being in the Ortega mountains, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, spending quality time with his family, taking Brando to the dog park and skateboarding. He had a free spirit and elicited joy from everything. Ryan owned and operated EPW a concrete cleaning business for over 18 years, and in 2018 opened Presley & Co Fine Jewelers in North Park, San Diego with his fiancé Liz Saba. He worked hard in his self-employment and touched many lives and made many life-long friendships over the years. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Ryan knew that he considered everyone a friend to him. Ryan was very proud follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and will be remembered as a faithful follower. He always expressed the promises from our Lord, being an eternal family in an everlasting life together. Ryan will certainly be missed as he affected many lives with his acts of love and kindness over the years. He was beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 27976 Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo on Saturday March 26th 2022 at 11am. The burial will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
