Ronald A. Pieratt - November 26, 1931 - May 31, 2022

Departed: 05/31/2022 (Tecumseh)
Obituary Preview: Ronald Alan Pieratt, 90, of Filley, lived a long, full, and celebrated life. He went home to be with his Lord early Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022, after a brief illness.
Ron was born on November 26, 1931 to Adelia (Thea) Smith and Eugene Myers. He was adopted soon after by Monroe and Leona Pieratt of Vesta, NE. After a time of military service in Okinawa after WWII he returned home and worked on his family’s farm west of town. He married his sweetheart Eileen in 1951, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage last August. Ron was also a serial entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses over the years. Ron and Eileen retired to Filley, NE where he worked hard right up to the end of his days and cared for his family well.
Ron loved to be outdoors working with his hands. He especially enjoyed fishing and building huge bonfires out in the timber with his family. Farming and later gardening were a passion he gave many hours to, with great satisfaction. His sweet corn was the best. He also enjoyed traveling around the US and the world, with special trips to Europe, The Holy Land, Brazil and to see the projects of Children's Relief International in Africa.
Ron was a lifelong follower of Jesus. His faith was an integral part of his life and work, a sure source of strength and guidance. Ron attended various churches through his long life, always enthused as to what he might learn each Sunday.
He was a loving and active grandfather, eager to show his grandkids a new skill on the farm, take them fishing, give them wagon rides pulled by a John Deere tractor, or let them take his lawnmower for a spin. At the very end of his earthly life, he requested that 2 Thessalonians be read to him, and told stories of old friends and his courtship with Eileen. Ron loved much, and therefore was much loved in return. He lived in the hope of the resurrection.
He is survived by his wife Eileen (Bohling) Pieratt of Filley, his sister Pam (Myers) Bias of Norman, OK, his son Alan Pieratt and wife Melody of Rockwall, TX, his daughters Lisa VanWinkle and husband Brett of Tecumseh and Laura Marshall and husband Perry of Berwyn, IL and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who all brought him great joy.

Joyce Anne Buethe - March 11, 1947 - May 21, 2022

Departed: 05/21/2022 (Tecumseh)
Obituary Preview: Joyce Anne (Hawkins) Buethe passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 75 years. She was born on March 11, 1947 in Vallejo, California to Forrest and Barbara (Scronce) Hawkins. She was born a couple months earlier than anticipated and was not expected to live. However, she was nursed back to health by a loving mother, a crib made from a hotel dresser, and goats milk. Joyce was baptized in California.
Because she was born into a military family, she moved often in her early years. She lived in CA for only a few months, Gering, NE four years, Mobile, AL for a year (where she attended Kindergarten). After her father left the service, the family moved to Long Lane, MO, to be near family. Joyce attended school from 1st Grade through 7th Grade, made many friends, and had many fond memories of spending time with her cousins and growing up on her parents’ farm.
The winds of change came once again when a decision was made to move, once again, this time to Tobias, NE, where her parents would eventually own and operate a hardware store. It is in Tobias where Joyce also finished her public education, graduating from Tobias High School, as a member of the Class of 1965.
After graduation, Joyce enrolled at the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing, where she eventually earned her status as a Registered Nurse (RN). It is also during this time that she was introduced to her future husband, Willis Buethe. She worked at Lincoln General Hospital for a short time, until she was united in marriage on September 6, 1969 at the Tobias Community Church. Following the wedding, Willis and Joyce made their first home together in a small house in Elk Creek, NE.
Later that year, Joyce began a new job at Johnson County Hospital, where she would work almost 44 years as an RN. She was one of the first nurses to work at, what was then, a new care facility in Tecumseh (Belle Terrace), and helped to establish the Johnson County Home Health Services department.
In 1972 Willis and Joyce welcomed their first child, Brian. In 1976, Joyce gave birth to their “Bicentennial Baby” Daniel. As the family grew, so did the need for more space. Willis and Joyce purchased and moved to their farm along Highway 50 in 1979, which Joyce called home until the time of her passing.
Despite having lived in so many places, and visiting many more, when asked where her favorite place was, she would quickly say Elk Creek. This is where she made many friends, raised her family, grew in her marriage and her faith. When she moved to Elk Creek, she became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she received adult confirmation from Pastor Harold T. Stelzer on June 12, 1970.
Joyce was involved in a variety of organizations and initiatives in and around her community including the Dorcas Society and Couples Club. She was also a long time member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #311 (Tobias). She helped to teach Confirmation Classes for years, helping young people to grow in their knowledge and Christian faith.
Throughout life, Joyce modeled the heart of a servant. As a daughter, wife, mother, sister, citizen, etc. she was always looking for ways to help others. She did not shy away from hard work, even in her later years. She very much loved those around her and loved to share stories of her family with anyone who would lend an ear. She was a marvelous cook, a wonderful nurse, a fantastic mother, sister, friend and a loving Nana; but most of all, she was unwavering in her Christian faith, and prayed often that others may come to know her Lord and Savior. She will be missed in this place but is safe in the arms of Jesus.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Erhardt and Leora Buethe, brothers-in-law Douglas Fritts and Ronnie Buethe, as well as many other friends and relatives.
She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Willis Buethe; sons Brian (Michelle) Buethe of Grimes, IA and Dan (Laura) Buethe of Hickman; sisters Margaret Fritts of Murray, KY and Diane Uher and husband Bruce of Daykin; grandchildren Grace Buethe, Henry Buethe and Lilly Buethe; sister-in-law, Linda Buethe of Tecumseh, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to count.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with Pastor Bill Cornelius officiating. The service will also be live streamed on the church's Facebook page. A link to the livestream is now available on Joyce's tribute wall.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska. The Nebraska Nurses Honor Guard will have a ceremony for Joyce at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

Margaret 'Peggy' Putman - May 07, 1930 - July 14, 2021

Departed: 07/14/2021 (Tecumseh)
Obituary Preview: Margaret Elizabeth (Logsdon) Putman
Margaret E. “Peggy” Putman passed away peacefully July 14, 2021 with her family by her side.  Margaret was born May 7, 1930 to Raymond W. & Freda D. (Synder) Logsdon in Tecumseh, Nebraska,  the second of six children.  Margaret went on to live in the cities of Lincoln, NE; Okemos, MI; Alexandria, VA; Waco, TX; Palm Harbor, FL and Daytona Beach, FL.
Peggy graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1947 and on August 29, 1948 in Tecumseh, NE she married the love of her life John W. Putman.  Together they raised three sons John W. “Bill” Putman, Jr.; Jeffrey E. “Jeff” Putman and Daniel L. “Dan” Putman.  They loved the countless sporting events through the years that their boys played and competed in.  Nebraska football Saturdays with good friends and family were like major holidays throughout the house.  Winning a college National, high school State and little league football championships all during one fall.  They shared and enjoyed gardening, house projects, cooking and entertaining.  They traveled together constantly for fun, work or both, sharing their love for acquiring unique art and antiques from all over the world.
As a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in-law, sister, Aunt Peg, and friend to so many, she was always there with her love and support.  Her capacity to listen made her such an integral part of so many people’s lives.  Moving and living in different communities it was uncanny how quickly she developed new and lifelong friendships.
Peggy was accomplished in so many areas.  Her devotion and sacrifice for her family. Her incredible capacity to do for others and her true gift as an interior designer.
As Peggy and John raised their three boys somewhere during this stretch of time she became “Peggy Putman”.  Not Margaret or Peg but “Peggy Putman” who everyone knew, respected and wanted “Peggy Putman” as their friend.  She was everywhere, involved in everything and usually was the one who planned, organized and ran the event or gathering.  Her ability to coordinate the schedules of three boys, volunteer at school, host countless dinner parties, special occasions and family gatherings is legendary.  Can you imagine washing multiple sets of football practice and game gear for 12 years in a row!  During it all she repeatedly would go without for herself to the benefit of her family.
Peggy’s time, energy and leadership was given to so many through the various organizations and groups that she volunteered in.  Athletic booster clubs, team dinners, bridge groups, lunch bunch, the local hospital gift store, Hospice, Symphony Guild and the Presbyterian Church.  Her love for needle point and crocheting would evolve into joint efforts to donate blankets, sweaters and her specialty scarves and shawls.  But her biggest lifelong commitment was to PEO.  Peggy was initiated in 1951 at the age of 21 to the Tecumseh, NE PEO chapter.  In May of 2021 right after her 91st birthday she was honored at the Florida PEO state convention for her 70th anniversary of service to PEO.  She was the PEO President of the local New Smyrna, FL chapter serving from 2003-2005.  Peggy was a great planner and organizer and others had confidence in her ability to serve which made her a true leader in everything she did.
Peggy’s other passion and love was as an interior designer.  Her ability to see space, colors and dimensions was unique and truly a gift.  She could work with combinations of furniture, paintings, decorative fixtures and flowers in ways that amazed anyone who saw it.  Her style was without limits and with lots of flare.  To those who were lucky enough to enjoy it, were amazed at the detail that went into each room, table, vase and wall.
A special thank you to James and Christy Richard and their staff at the Selah “Beach House” ALF for their compassion, care and friendship for Margaret and her family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband John W. Putman and their oldest son John W. Putman, Jr. and his wife Nancy, brothers Robert E. “Bob” Logsdon and (Delores),  John Logsdon and (Roseann), sisters Kathryn “Kathy” Delong and (Wayne) (Martin) and Mildred “Sue” Boeve and (Russell).
Surviving are sons Jeffrey E. “Jeff” Putman and wife Susan “Susie” and their son John W. “Jake” Putman of Norwich, CT;  Daniel L. “Dan” Putman and wife Elizabeth “Buffy” Putman of Okemos, MI and their daughter, Jessica P. Wahl and her husband Peter T. Wahl and their children Greta E. Wahl and Thomas P. Wahl of Minneapolis, MN and their son Nicholas C. “Nick” Putman of Virgin Gorda, BVI; grandson Nathan W. Putman and Deana Freeman of La Mesa, CA and youngest sister and best friend Patricia “Pat” Miller and her husband Ray Miller of Colleyville, TX.
Graveside Memorial Service and inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.  Celebration of life to follow.
As a tribute to Margaret “Peggy” Putman please pay it forward to an organization of your choice with your resources, time or both.  She will be there in spirit to greet, lead, and support you every step of the way.
