(Geraci) Sweimler, 40, of Reading, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in the Reading Hospital.  Born on April 25, 1981 in Reading, she was the daughter of Victor Geraci and Marguerite Burnham. Graduated from Oley Valley High school.        Beverly is survived by her daughters, Helena, Chloe, and Brianna.  Also surviving are Beverly’s father, Victor Geraci, and grandmother, Linda Woomer.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Burnham and fraternal grandmother, Helen Reinhard.       The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9th Street, Reading. Dale V. Budd, Sr. - July 20, 1930 - April 19, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dale V. Budd, Sr., age 91, died April 19 at home in Elverson, PA, attended by family.
Dale was born in Pottstown, PA, the son of Floyd E. Budd of Battle Creek, MI, and Florence L. (Shick) Budd of Pughtown, PA.  He graduated from Warwick High School in 1948 and entered the U.S. Navy, training at Naval Station Great Lakes and serving from Lakehurst, NJ.  He served as an Aviation Electrician Petty Officer 2nd Class with Helicopter Utility Squad 2 from 1948 to 1952.  He then worked at Bell Telephone of PA, later Verizon Communications, for 36 ½ years, retiring in 1989.  Dale married Elsie M. (Hipple) Budd of Spring City, PA in 1951, residing on the Hipple farm until 1989, when they relocated to Berks County.  Most recently, they lived in Elverson, Chester County, where they celebrated their 71st anniversary in March.  Dale was a scout master with Boy Scouts of America; past president and treasurer of the Norco Optimist Club; and a lifetime member of the Pottstown Quoit Club and the National Rifle Association.  Dale loved hunting, fishing, and camping, introducing his children to these hobbies.  He was a member of Goodwill U.M.C, Elverson. Dale is survived by his daughters Judy Jernegan of Birdsboro, PA, and Deborah Budd of Reading, PA; granddaughters Erika Panfile, Lynn Yocom, and Kim Jernegan; and great-grandchildren Kelsie, Anthony, and Rebekah.  He was predeceased by half-sister Dorothy Ruhl of Battle Creek, MI and his son Dale V. Budd, Jr.

Jack P. Babb - March 23, 1933 - April 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Jack P. Babb, 89, of Shillington, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.  Born in Reading on March 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Albert and Florence (Houck) Babb.  Jack was the loving husband of Joan (Schrank) Babb, whom he married August 9, 1980.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Jack was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School and later received Engineering Training at Industrial Management Institute of Reading and Penn State Berks.
He was first employed for 14 years as a Draftsman by Sanders and Thomas Inc. in Pottstown then for 24 years by Gilbert Associates – Reading in their Quality Assurance/Quality Control Division.  While employed by Gilbert Associates, Jack worked Construction and Operation at many nuclear power plants including those at; Limerick, Peach Bottom, 7 years at Crystal River, Florida, 1 year at Vera Cruz, Mexico, and 4 years in Cape Town, South Africa.
Jack was an avid fisherman, hunter, and clay target shooter.  He was the past President of Cacoosing Gun Club since 1986.  Jack was also a member of Pike Township Sportsman’s Club.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Jack is survived by his daughters, Suzann M. Babb, wife of Fred of Watertown, MA and Judy D. Werner, wife of Art of Wilmington, DE.  He is preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Babb and Ann Sweimler.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Earl W. Shenk and Anna (Ochocki) Shenk. He was a graduate of Reading High School. Gene served proudly in the United States Army. During his life, he was a Machinist for Narrow Fabric Industries, until retiring in 2003.
Gene is survived by his children, Christina M. Shenk, of West Reading; Keith D. Shenk, husband of Tracy Shenk, of Wernersville; Todd J. Shenk, husband of Karla Shenk of Ocean City, MD; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Edward Shenk, of Harrisburg; and Theresa Clouse, of Exeter Township.

She is survived by her children, Andrea Reifsnyder, wife of David, of Greenville, SC; Vincent Dennis, of Gambrills, MD; Maria Grill, wife of Steven, of Shillington; Matthew Dennis, of Drums, PA; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sara, Andrew, Nicholas, Joshua, Zachary, Aaron, Madeline, Olivia, Claire; and 3 great- grandchildren, Cole, Reese, and Ryan.
Sylvia was predeceased by her daughter Stephanie Reiprish and 5 siblings.

Gene Marcella Wise - July 15, 1925 - March 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gene Marcella Wise “Coach Wise”, 96, of Boyertown, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Pottstown Hospital. Born in Birdsboro, she was the daughter of the late Howard Rhoads Wise, VMD, and Mabel (Painter) Lammey Wise. Marcella grew up in the Elverson and Morgantown area, graduating from Carnarvon High School.
Coach Wise to many, was an intelligent, fiercely independent and courageous fighter for women’s equality in high school sports. She was a graduate of West Chester University, and achieved her Master’s in Education from Temple University. Gene was proud to be a “Health and Physical Education” Teacher in the Boyertown School District for over 30 years, before retiring as the Athletic Director. Miss Wise Coached women’s basketball, softball, and field hockey teams to achieve many county, district, and state titles. She was inducted into the Berks County Chapter, Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, one of the few female coaches to achieve that level of recognition. Miss Wise was very humble about her achievements, it was always about her players, and students.
Gene is survived by her nieces and nephews and countless women and men who benefited from her wisdom and support during her career at Boyertown High School.
In addition to her parents, Gene is predeceased by her siblings, Edith (Lammey) Schwenk, George Merrill Wise, Geraldine Lucille (Wise) Nornhold Bird, and John Carrol Wise.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and was a skilled basket weaver.  She also enjoyed nature and was an avid bird watcher.

Born in Bogota, Colombia, he was the son of the late Isaac Murcia Pulga and Ana Virginia Herrera De Murcia. Luis migrated to the United States in 1983. He lived in New York City till the early 2000’s. He earned his Associates degree in Political Science from York College, Jamaica Queens, New York. During his life in NYC, he worked as a News Reporter for RCN News. Once he retired, Luis and his family moved to Reading, Pennsylvania.
Luis is known for his kindness. He was someone that you could rely on and that would always help in any situation. If there was a problem or an obstacle, he would find a solution. He loved his family, friends and community and will truly be missed.
In addition to his mother, Ana Virginia Herrera De Murcia, of Colombia, he is survived by his children, Jonathan Murcia, of Reading; Jennifer Murcia, of Reading; grandchildren, Jondré Angel Murcia, Jesiah Alexander DeLeon, Jazzlyn Anastasia DeLeon, Joanna Aaliyah DeLeon, Jayleannie Maria Murcia, Aryanna Rosá Murcia, and Kaylianna Faith Murcia; two brothers and three sisters. Luis was predeceased by his father and brother, Henry Sanchez.

Obituary Preview: Maria “Maritsa” Patestas, 88 of Reading, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sinking Spring.  She was born on the small island of Oinoussai, Chios in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Panagiotis and Eleftheria (Moundoula) Kolevas.  Surviving is her beloved husband, Pantelis Patestas, whom they shared 64 years of marriage, her daughter Voula Tsitsiris (Dimitrios); son, Panagiotis Patestas (Marie); six grandchildren Areti Alafogiannis (Vasilli), Maria Theodoratos (Dennis), Vannessa Brossman (Tiago),Tiffany Tobin (Casey), Yianni and Matthew Patestas; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Emmanuel Kolevas (Cathy), her God daughter and two nephews. Maria, along with her husband and family emigrated from Greece to the United States in 1968; she worked as a talented seamstress for many years and with her husband, also owned and operated Mr. Softee Ice Cream Trucks.  Maria was a parishioner of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.  She was a proud "Aignousiotina" from the island of Oinoussai and enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with her loving family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Angel was born Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico June 26, 1937. Angel is survived by his lifetime companion Catalina Negron, his Sons Angel Toro Jr., son Luis A. Toro and his daughter Maria D. Raker.
He was always to be a hard-working man. He loved working on his cars, it was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed working on household projects to keep himself busy. He was a musician and played the guitar. His favorite music was Puerto Rican Folk music. Angel loved his place of birth Puerto Rico and its culture. His dream was to go back to Puerto Rico and buy some land in the country because he enjoyed the lifestyle. He was known to have chickens and roosters in his yard. That’s how much he loved country life. Puerto Rico is known to be called Paradise and now he rests in the true paradise in heaven with his heavenly father.
Funeral Service will be held at Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home 444 N. 9th Street. Reading PA Friday January 28, 2022 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery. She was the beloved wife of the late James K. Reis, who passed away on October 27, 2020.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Daisy (Dudash) Levin.
Edwina was a graduate of Reading High School Class of 1957.
During her life she worked for the Reading City Hall as a Clerk for 15 years, until retiring in 1989.
Edwina loved reading books, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her book club. Edwina was also a member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Reading.
She is survived by her sons Kevin D. Reis, husband of Sharleen F. Reis, of Reading; Scott M. Reis, husband of Shari Reis, of Mohnton; 2 grandchildren, Kristine F. Craig and Lorrissa Gravely; 4 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jackson, William and Joshua; and her sister Cheryl Moretz, of Sinking Spring.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  John was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Dolores E. (Costello) Renninger who passed away July 12, 2017.  Born in Minersville, Schuylkill County, John was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Schoffstall) Renninger.  He was a member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington, PA and served in the United States Army during the Korean War obtaining the rank of Sargent First Class. A member of the 82nd Airborne Division, he made 52 parachute jumps over Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam, Philippines, Okinawa and Japan.  John was proud of his service and would often be seen wearing a baseball hat with the Airborne insignia. He was a steadfast presence in his family and was always willing to help and offer a “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” John spent many years actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America serving as a committee member and treasurer. He enjoyed hiking, bright colors, travelling, puzzles and spending time with family. John was an accountant by trade and spent most of his career at Unex Machine & Tool in Reading. He is survived by his children John J. Renninger, husband of Diane Renninger of Sinking Spring; Michele M. Apsokardu of Kenhorst; Kim R. Lewis, wife of Tom Lewis of Kenhorst; grandchildren Jarad and Nicole Renninger and Erin Apsokardu.

She was an Assistant Manager at Zoup, a Mother, a sister and a friend.  Stacey enjoyed coloring, creative writing, gardening and especially cooking and baking. She always had her way of doing everything and anything she could for others and then some. She was a traveler and spiritual, she would always say “you never know what the good lord has in store for you” and maybe she’s right now that she is truly home.
Those who knew Stacey knew that she struggled a lot but what people didn’t see was the amount she had overcome. Her generosity, her selflessness, her desire to make the world a better place for the people around her. Although Stacey was known by a lot of people, she always preferred to be alone. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children and all those who knew her.
Stacey is survived by her parents James and Gloria Morasco, her children Cameron and Tylan, her siblings, Alyssa Roth and Tiffany Lambert, her niece's Briana, Trinity, Lana and Emily, and great nephew Jaxon who she would’ve loved dearly.

He was the loving husband to Barbara Louise (Pass) for 39 years, before her passing in Februray 21, 2013 . Born in Hazelton, Raymond was the son of the late John P. and Kathryn (Bussetti) Canfield. Raymond served in the United States Army and worked as a CW 4 before his retirement from the Army. Raymond also served on the Harford County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, becoming the rank of Lieutenant before his retirement.  Before moving to PA, Raymond was a member of First Baptist Church in Havre de Grace, MD. One of Ray's favorite things was listening to music played by his wife Barbara, and his grandson, Stacey, as they played in various bands. He loved to volunteer by picking up food and delivering it to various food pantries. Ray loved to read, watch the Orioles play baseball and stay in shape by walking 5k each morning
Raymond is survived by his children, Alisa Marie Antoine, wife of Andre, of Leesport, Sheryl Ulishney, wife of Scott, of Bel Air, MD, and Ralph William Taylor, of CA, Sarah Pullan, of Cyprus, and Alison Balsdon, of Harrogate, England. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Raymond is also survived by his brother, Daniel Canfield, husband of Joan, of VA.
