Obituary Preview: Cheryl E. (Bowker) Crowell, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away in Melrose on April 25th surrounded by loved ones at her side after a brief illness.   Cheryl was born in Malden in 1947, the daughter of Kenneth and Elva (LeMaire) Bowker.  She was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1965.  She then went on to college, starting at Mass Bay, and then transferring to Salem State University where she received her degree in Childhood Education.  She went on to work as a teacher at St. Mary's School in Beverly.   In June of 1969, Cheryl married her sweetheart, Lawrence H. Crowell.  She and Larry settled down in Malden to raise their family.  They shared over 52 years of marriage together.   Once they began having children, Cheryl stopped teaching full time, but she did continue to be a substitute teacher for the City of Malden. Cheryl was an active member of the Order of the Amaranth in Malden, where she is a past Royal Matron. Passionate about genealogy and history Cheryl was an active member of the Historical Society of Boston, Lynnfield and Argyle Historical Society of Nova Scotia. Her time was also spent painting, she took many art classes over the years to help hone her skills. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Cheryl, like spending six months a year in Nova Scotia, where she was able to enjoy her blueberry fields, time with her dear friends and family playing countless hours of cards. Cheryl is predeceased by both her parents Elva and Kenneth as well as her daughter Charlene Marie Crowell. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence H. Crowell, her daughters, Alyson T. Crowell of Malden and Elizabeth H. Blankenship and husband Keith of Hampton Falls, NH.  She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, which she was affectionately known as "Mimi", Jocelyn and husband Timothy, Mathew and fiancé Heather, Sarah and Daniel, and her great grandson, Colton. Kevin C. Hickey - Unknown - April 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Kevin C. Hickey,  a retired guidance counselor for the Medford Vocational Technical High School, passed away on Sunday, April 24th,  after a lengthy illness.  Kevin was born in East Boston in 1948, the son of Charles and Mary Hickey.  He was raised in Medford, and graduated from Medford High School with the Class of 1966.  After high school he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War.  Upon his discharge, he attended Boston State College and Salem State University, first receiving his Bachelor of Science, and eventually earning his Masters Degree in Counselor Education.    He first worked as a Science teacher at the Medford “Voke” before becoming a Guidance Counselor.  He retired from the school in 2006.
In 1979, Kevin married his sweetheart, Therese B. Pavone, and the two spent a few years in Medford before relocating to Melrose in 1983.  He was member of the D.A.V., the  Knights of Columbus in Medford, and a past member of the Elks Lodge of Winthrop.  He was also a past member and President of the Makusue Ski Club in North Conway, NH.   Kevin  was also an active golfer who not only played golf but coached as well.  He also coached club hockey, and was a Lacrosse  referee.  In addition, Kevin was an avid fan and long time season ticket holder to the Boston Bruins.
He is survived by his wife, Therese B. (Pavone) Hickey, his siblings, Kathleen V. Lucas and husband Frank of Woburn, his twin Kerry C. Larkin and husband Kevin of Melrose, Brian J. Hickey and wife Maggie of Salisbury, as well as many nieces,  nephews, great nieces, great nephew, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, William J. Hickey.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Friday, Apr 29th, at 10:15 AM  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Francis of Assisi Church, Medford, at 11:30 AM.   Committal will be private.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 28th, from 4 – 8 PM.

Obituary Preview: Richard A. MacCuish Sr, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Saturday, April 22nd, in Boston.  Richard was born in Malden in 1939, the son of William and Elizabeth MacCuish.  Richard was raised and educated in Malden. Soon after completing his education, Richard married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Nadworny.   The two settled down in Malden where they raised their five children.  Richard and Elizabeth shared over 63 years of marriage together.  Richard had worked for American Aluminum, and then Harvey Industries, retiring about 20 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children, Richard MacCuish Jr. and wife Debbie, of Lynn, John MacCuish of Saugus, Paul MacCuish and wife Maria of Peabody, and her daughter Victoria, Cheryl MacCuish of Saugus, and Kim MacCuish of Malden, his sisters, Ruth LeBlanc of Melrose, Kathy Green of VT, his grandchildren, Steven, Alicia, Tyler, Samantha, Corey, Ashley, Brandon, Brandon, and Keri, and his great grandchildren,  Michael and Colton.
Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert MacCuish, Barbara James, Doris Howell, Betty Ann Walker, and Joan Boyce.
Funeral Services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Thursday, April 28th, at 10AM. Interment will follow in  the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 27th, from 4 – 8 PM.

Anna M. Joyce - Unknown - March 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Anna M. (DiPaolo) Joyce, of Saugus, formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022.  Anna was born in Portland, ME, in 1937, to Rosario and Laura DiPaolo. In 1958, Anna married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) J. Joyce.  In 1963 the couple moved to Malden, MA where Anna and Bob would remain long-time residents. They shared a wonderful life together for 57 years until Bob’s passing in 2015, rich with the blessings of their family and many close friends.
First and foremost, Anna was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. Nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family; her four grandchildren were her pride and joy. Holidays and family get-togethers were particularly important to Anna where special meals were shared and enjoyed. Italian food specialties and New England seafood were her favorites. Despite living in MA for almost 60 years, Anna was a true Mainer at heart. She often spent time with family and friends in the Portland area. Anna and Bob were avid train travelers and visited almost all 50 states. She loved being in the sun and relaxing on the deck in her favorite chair. Anna found all types of history fascinating and enjoyed reading and listening to books on tape. She was a dedicated member of the St. Joseph Parish and was involved with many clubs and groups at the church. Along with Bob, Anna was also active with the Moose Lodge of Malden and the Italian American Citizens Club of Wakefield.
Anna leaves her loving children Catherine Hult and husband Joseph of Hanover, Steven Joyce of Mission Viejo, CA, Thomas Joyce and wife Stacey of West Roxbury, Elizabeth Buckley of Melrose, her cherished grandchildren, Casey and Ryan Hult, and Stephen and Timothy Buckley. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and her siblings, John DiPaolo, Mary Rosetti, and Lucy Hubner. She deeply appreciated the kindness of her neighbors and community at Sheffield Heights and especially, the Imbrogna family. Her family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham who provided such compassionate care making her final days happy and comfortable.

Van Praet, a longtime resident Hull,  passed away suddenly in Florida on March 13th.  Alan was born in Boston in 1953, the son of Albert and Anna T.  Van Praet.  He was raised in Malden and graduated from the Northeast Vocational School with the class of 1971 where he trained in the electrical trade.  He went on to become a Master Electrician.  Alan eventually became the maintenance supervisor for nursing homes, until retiring a couple years ago.   He was a member of the Weymouth United AF & AM Masonic Lodge, and was an active Ham Radio Enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Linda Van Praet, his children, Alan Van Praet of Laconia, NH, Sean Van Praet of Methuen, Theresa DeCosta of FL, and Joseph Van Praet of MA, and his grandchildren.  Madelyn, Marissa, Ava, Nathan, Adam, Cameron, Alex, and Jenna

Mary T O'Leary - Unknown - March 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mary T. (Cormier) O’Leary, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away on Sunday, March 6th, after a brief illness. Mary was born in Cambridge in 1925, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Cormier.  She was raised in Malden, and graduated from the Cheverus  School with the Class of 1943.  In 1948, she married her sweetheart, Eugene F. O’Leary.  They soon settled down in Medford where they raised their family.  They shared nearly 65 years of marriage together until Eugene’s’ passing in 2012.
Mary worked for many years at First National Grocery, working in many different rolls until becoming the office manager of the grocery store.   She worked as manager at the Wellington Circle location until their closing in the early 80’s.
Mary was a dedicated member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Medford, She was also an active member and Past Commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 45 in Medford.  Mary was a dedicated supporter of many veterans groups, volunteering at different VA facilities and the Chelsea Soldiers Home.  She was active with Knots of Love, a knitting organization that donated hand made hats to premature babies, active solders, and cancer patients.
She is survived by her son, Kevin E. O’Leary and wife Kim of Haverhill, her grandchildren,  Eric Baurichter, Jason O’Leary and wife Meredith, and Koren O’Leary, and her great-great grandchildren Ashley, Fiona, Samantha, and Myles. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her daughter,   Barbara R. Baurichter, and her siblings,  Martin Cormier, Rita Sullivan, and William F. Cormier
Funeral services will be held from the Weir – MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Friday, March  11th, at 8:45 AM,  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford. Interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 10th, from 4 – 8 PM.

Obituary Preview: James H. Haugh, age 69, of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away on March 3rd 2022 after a 10 year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Jim grew up in Stoneham, Massachusetts and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1972 where he was a three sport standout athlete who was inducted into the Stoneham Hall of Fame in 2014. He went on to Mass Bay Community College to play hockey and baseball. Jim was a natural salesman who had a successful career selling restaurant equipment. He loved meeting and talking to new people. Jim’s love of sports was undeniable. He coached his daughters and their teammates in multiple sports including soccer, basketball, and softball through elementary and high school. He was the loudest and most enthusiastic fan. Jim initiated fundraising and oversaw the installation of the batting cages for AHS girls softball. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest, known for his positive attitude, contagious smile and boisterous laugh. Jim’s fondest memories from his youth include summers at Ossipee Lake and vacationing at Hampton Beach with his family. He would never say no to a cookie, donut, or sweet treat and was an avid Red Sox fan. Jim’s favorite days were when he and his love Patty took long drives to the beach for a picnic lunch and a cup of steaming hot chowder. Family was everything to Jim. He loved spending time with Robert Haugh, and his wife Marie, John Haugh and his wife Marie, his niece Emily and nephews Tommy, Michael, Danny and Brian. Jim looked forward to family gatherings especially Christmas Eve festivities at Grammy and Grampys. Jim is survived by his mother Mary Lou Haugh, his wife Patty, daughters Katie Johnson and her husband Erik, Colleen Black and her husband Steve, Kerry Cavanaugh and her husband Patrick. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his five grandchildren: Ellie, Hattie, Fiona, Annie and James. Preceded in death by his brother Tommy and father Thomas Haugh.

Burns of Malden and the late attorney Ruth I. (Mayer) Burns, also OFD.  He is survived by his bold and beautiful sisters:  Marie, and her husband Bruce MacFarlane of Billerica and Debloise, Maine, and their son Rob MacFarlane and his family of Lowell;  Winifred of Charlestown; Irene of New York City; Catherine and her son Ryan, of Watertown.  He is also survived by his brother Attorney Paul Burns of Marblehead, Paul’s wife Cheryl and their children Patrick and Carly.

Glennon Sr., a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Monday, February 28th.   Edward was born in Malden in 1956, the son of Leo and Helen Glennon.   He was raised and educated in Malden, and went into the automotive repair industry.  He became the owner of Culleton Brothers Autobody and Repair, and ran the establishment until his recent retirement.
In 1977, Ed married his sweetheart, Leeanne F. Smith, and the two spent a couple years in the area before settling down in Lynnfield in 1980 to raise their family.   The two shared 45 years of marriage together. Ed loved everything about cars, and auto racing, and proudly restored several cars.  He also was a member of the Elks Lodge of Malden and the Moose Lodge of Malden.
He is survived by his wife, Leeanne F. Glennon, his children, Edward F. Glennon Jr. of Lynnfield and Shannon M. Glennon of Lynn, his brothers Paul Glennon of FL, and Billy Glennon of FL, and his sister, Connie Cavanaugh of Billerica.
Edward was preceded in death by his brothers Leo and Arthur Glennon, and his sister, Kathy Sousa.
A night of visitation will be held for Edward on Sunday, March 6th, from 2 – 6 PM.

Dorothy K Meehan - June 24, 1921 - February 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dorothy K. (White) Meehan, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on February 22, at the age of 100.  Dorothy was born in Lowell in 1921, the daughter of Harry and Mabel White.  She was raised in Malden, attending the Beebe Jr. High School and then Malden High School, graduating with the Class of 1938.  After high school, she married Thomas Sheridan, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family.  Their marriage lasted 25 years until Thomas’s sudden passing.  Five years a later, Dorothy found love again and married William Meehan, and they shared 10 years of marriage until William passed away.
Dorothy had worked for the city of Malden as a Bus Monitor for 35 years, transferring the children to school and back every day.  She was a past member of the Centre United Methodist Church in Malden, and a past member of the Malden Eagles.  She also was an accomplished poet, and has had her work published, as well as being a skilled cartoonist and a dancer in the main dining room of Chickland, Saugus MA.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Sheridan, her second husband William Meehan, her children, Thomas Sheridan, Robert Sheridan, and Dorothy Sheridan, and her brother, Robert White and sister, Pearl Johnson.
She is survived by her friends Theresa Sellon and Mary Doherty of Melrose and all who loved her at the Cefalo Complex.
A graveside service will be held at a later date In Forest Dale cemetery, Malden.

Patti, a Customer Service Administrator for the MBTA, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 18th, in Malden.  Nicole was born in Boston in 1986, the daughter of Laurie MacNeill and Philip Patti.   She was raised and educated in Revere.  She became an administrator in the customer service department, specifically working with veterans that had issues with the T.    Outside of work, Nicole loved spending time with her children and her dog Kita, and going to the beach.
She is survived by her children, Anthony M. Wallace of Malden and Michelle L. Dunn of Malden, her parents, Laurie MacNeill of Malden and Philip Patti of Port St. Lucie, FL.,  Also her stepmom Theresa Mosley and her husband Michael and her siblings, Pauline Patti Thomas, Michael Patti, and Brandon Patti, all of FL. Also her fiance Cassandra Ficara of Malden. She also had 4 nieces, 1 nephew and many aunts, uncle's and cousins.
Nicole was preceded in death by her brother, Philip Patti and her stepdad Steven Ditsch. Also her maternal grandparents, Margaret and Richard MacNeill of North Berwick, Maine, paternal grandparents Pauline and Pasquale Patti of East Boston.
A memorial service for Nicole will be held on Friday, February 25th, at 7 PM, with visitation beginning at 5 PM.

(Noble) Grondin, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Saturday, February 12th, surrounded by her loving family.  Karen was born in Boston in 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Noble.  She was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. Karen married her sweetheart, Joseph J. Grondin.  A couple years later they moved to Malden where they raised their family.  They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage together this year.  Karen had worked at the Boston Medical Center as an ER Technician, until recent health issues prevented her from working.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished spending time with the family.  She also loved music and going shopping.
She is survived by her husband Joseph J. Grondin, her children, Melissa J. Grondin of Malden, Joseph P. Grondin and his wife Valerie of Malden, her siblings, JoAnn L. Shields of Falmouth, Deborah J. Wittich of Westwood, Joseph K. Noble of Jamaica Plain, Sandra L. Nestor of Woburn, Ronald A. Noble of Plymouth, and Cheryl A. Tierno of N. Reading, and her grandchildren, Ava, Emilia, Olivia, and Julian. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: David Carroll, 51, a longtime resident of Kingston, New Hampshire, passed away suddenly on February 10th. David grew up in Malden, MA.  He was the son of the late Paul & Margaret Carroll, both of Malden MA. He was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the class of 1988. He worked his entire career as a Master Technician with Central Signal Corporation. David is survived by his brother, Paul Carroll of Phoenix AZ, and his sisters, Linda Cochran of North Reading MA and Janette Carroll of Hampton NH, and was pre-deceased by his brother, Thomas Carroll of Dover NH.  David was a lifelong self-learner, often taking up new hobbies based on books he was reading. He was becoming an avid cook, liked home improvement, and enjoyed board games - spending much time with friends and family playing backgammon, Scrabble, and almost any card game. He was proud of and very close to his nieces and nephews: Cameron, McKenna, Samantha, Derrick, and Jacob - always playfully reminding them "I am your favorite uncle." David will best be remembered for his generosity, compassion, and ever-present smile.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19th at the Weir MacCuish Family Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA, visiting hours between 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Obituary Preview: Patricia Anne Wallask, 56, of Melrose passed away on Thursday, February 3rd.
Born May 3rd 1965, Tricia was raised in Malden, MA where she graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1983, and went on to further her education at Green Mountain College, Class of 1990. After completing her education, Tricia went to work in accounting.  She worked at LaRosa & Bille, PC.
Tricia left an impression on everyone she met and her love had the power to invoke change. She had the biggest heart and would give her all in everything she did and said. She intended to retire at her cabin in Maine with her fiancé, Rene, and their dog, Jasper.  Those who knew Tricia knew she had a love of baking and swapping recipes with her older brother especially around the holidays. Christmas was her favorite (Thanksgiving second) and she would call herself an elf year-round. Tricia was also an amazing mother to her daughter Sarah, even letting her sneak into her bed at night when she was well into her teenage years. Even though 56 years isn’t a very long time, Tricia left an impression that would last a lifetime.
She is survived by her fiancé Rene LaCau of Melrose, her daughter Sarah Nickerson of Beverly, her parents Neil and Lynne Wallask of Hernando, FL (formerly of Malden), her big brother John Wallask and his partner John Carroll of Mansfield, her big sister Lisa Worth and her husband Walter Worth of Everett, her niece Jocelyn Maloney of New Hampshire, her nephew Craig Maloney of Wisconsin, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

In 1975, Lorraine married her sweetheart, Harryman A. Moe, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. They shared 43 years of marriage together until Harryman's passing in 2018. She is survived by her son Michael Breen and wife Kerri of Malden, her daughter in law Kelli Breen of VA, her sister Mary Nelson of N. Reading, her 6 grandchildren and her 3 great grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Harryman, her son Robert Breen, and her brother Edward L. Mood Jr. Funeral services will be held at the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Monday, February 7th, 11 AM, with visitation from 9 - 11 am. Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Bobby was born on July 5th, 1953, to (late) George R. Endicott and Grace E. (Devir) Endicott. He attended the Immaculate Conception School where he performed in Columbus Hall and graduated from the “Voke” in Wakefield.  He spent many summers at his family cottage on Saquish Beach sitting around the campfire with his friends and family.  Always willing to “sing us a song”. He was known around town due to his frequent use of the public transportation system and friendship with the Malden housing authority and other helpful resource centers.  A gentle soul who will be missed.
Bobby is survived by his siblings; George and Karen Endicott, Kathryn and Bill Marchand, Janice Endicott Alden, John and Rosemarie Endicott, Grace and Jerry Matrisciano, Stephen Endicott, Kevin Endicott and predeceased by his oldest sister Alice Coughlin.   He is also survived by his God Daughter Beth Baldwin and many nieces and nephews.

Elinor was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church of Malden, and a volunteer for the Bread of Life program. She worked many years as a medical billing specialist, and retired from Massachusetts General Hospital. In her spare time Elinor also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, theatre, and Swedish dancing. She was a lifelong cat lover, adopting many strays and shelter cats.
Elinor is survived by her children Maria Sundquist (Medford) and Margaret Healey (Arlington), her sister in law Birgit Nelson, several nieces, long time friends Olga and Margie, and extended family and friends. Elinor was preceded in death by her husband John R. Sundquist and her son John T. Sundquist.

Mildred J. (Selig) Hegarty, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Winchester Rehab and Nursing Center after a brief illness. Her family will be forever grateful for the extraordinarily kind and compassionate care she received there from the entire staff.
Millie was born to Max and Mildred Selig on July 10, 1933 in Boston. She grew up in a large family in the South End and graduated from Boston English High School. She traveled by train with friends, following the Red Sox to New York and Philadelphia, and worked at John Hancock in Boston. She enjoyed nights out dancing at the Polish Club, where she met her future husband, Joseph M. "Dodo" Hegarty. Millie and Dodo settled happily into family life, raising their four children together in Malden. They embraced their close knit Baldwin St. neighborhood and were active in the community, including Millie's extensive volunteer work at her children's elementary school. An avid lover of books, she went on to a longtime position as Library Assistant at the Malden Public Library. Millie was a voracious reader of books, magazines, and newspapers, and she had a keen interest in current events and politics. She was also a well informed sports fan and became known as "Millie from Malden" after frequent calls to Boston sports radio stations. She enjoyed bus trips to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, and was a fan of classic movies and the Hallmark station. She was an easygoing friend and coworker, and a favorite Auntie. She held her own in frequent and lengthy telephone conversations with friends and family.
Most of all, Millie was happy spending time at home, caring for Dodo and the kids, and eventually hosting busy Sunday dinners and holidays with her beloved grandchildren. She was a loving Mom and Grammy, always insisting that we "called when we got there." Family and friends will miss her lively conversation, her caring and gentle ways, and her easy smile.
She is survived by her children, Nancy E. McDonald and husband the late Clay of Malden, Joseph M. Hegarty Jr. and wife Peggy of Malden, Gail M. Williams and husband Stephen of Melrose, and Stephen R. Hegarty and Anna Shields of NJ, her sisters, Barbara Shaw of Fitchburg, Carol Hodge of Randolph, her grandchildren, Joey, Maraide, Donny, Meghan, Jessie, Brian, Tommy, Michael, and Jack, her great grandchildren, Adriana, Linnea, and Olivia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her sisters Gloria Royal and Charlotte Selig, her brothers, Henry and Richard Selig, and her grandson Danny Williams.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, all services will be private.

He is survived by his nephews, Norman E Pashoian III of Great Falls Va, Mark G. Pashoian of Melrose and David A. Pashoian of Dracut, and his niece, Lisa Pashoian-Cook of Beverly. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Queenie Pashoian, and his brothers, Norman Pashoian Jr. and Warren Pashoian. Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Tuesday, January 25th, at 10 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Mon, Jan 24th, from 4-6 PM.
