He is survived by his son Cory York, brother Robert York, aunts Barbara Wright and Linda York Laskowski and niece Hali York. He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle, Wayne York. Russ was employed as a sales representative for HI-Line Incorporated for 17 years. He also owned his own companies including Triotube and Detroit Original Equipment. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling. Russ will be remembered as a caring guy, who was always willing to offer a helping hand to people. He developed many friendships because of his friendly, caring nature. A memorial gathering is being planned for a future date.

Paul was born on May 5, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy Brandt. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Joseph, MI at Trinity Lutheran Church. Paul graduated High School from Alma High School in 1970 and attended Ferris State University from 1970 to 1974 with a degree in business and marketing. While attending Ferris State University he was part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and has remained close to his frat brothers. Paul spent his career in food distribution where he was a part owner of Atlas Sugar in Flint, MI and finished his career of 40 years at Dawn Foods.
Paul is survived by his wife, Luan, and his sons Joshua (Jamie) and Aaron (Paulina). He is also survived by his four granddaughters; brothers, Thomas, and James (Beverly); and his sister Barbara.
He was a man who devoted his life to his Lord and family. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he sat on numerous boards as well as served as the president of the congregation. He loved watching U of M football games, watching his sons play sports, playing golf and spending time up north on the lake. His family and friends will always remember him for his wisdom, kindness, and sense of humor. Paul’s family will be honoring his life at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint, MI on June 1st at 11 AM with visitation starting at 10 AM.

A proud Korean War veteran, Ed served in the 45th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army. His military service was a testament to his courage and selflessness, traits that would continue to define him throughout his life.
After his military service, Ed embarked on a successful career in sales with Ex-Cell-O Machine Tools and the MicroMatic Honing Division. His work ethic and charismatic personality made him a respected figure in his professional community, where he formed lasting friendships and earned the admiration of his colleagues.
Ed's life was enriched by his beloved wife, Joan M. Rouse (née Boyne), and children. He is survived by his wife Joan, daughters Maureen (Abe) Rouse-Ayoub and Ann (Armand) Rouse-Gopigian, sons Dan Rouse and Kevin (Kathy) Rouse, and his grandchildren Lauren, Brian, Edward (Arianna), James, Ryan, and Jes. Ed was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, always present in the moments that mattered most.
Predeceased by his son Brian Edward Rouse, his parents Edward and Phylis Rouse-Mendenhall, and his siblings MaryEllen Janssen and Fred Rouse.
Ed's interests and hobbies reflected his zest for life and love for his family. He enjoyed traveling and craft cocktails. His love for crossword puzzles kept his mind sharp.
Described by those who knew him best as loving, funny, and selfless, Ed's warmth and humor brought light into every room.
Family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, MI 48843. A Rosary Service will begin at 7pm. Randy's legacy is one of deep love, service, and treasured memories. He lived a life enriched by the partnerships he forged and the lives he touched. A proud veteran, Randy served in the United States Air Force for six years, an experience that imbued him with a lasting sense of discipline and community. He continued his commitment to service as a member of the VFW in Redford, where he formed lifelong bonds with his fellow comrades-in-arms.
Randy's heart was firmly rooted in his family, and it is there that his loss is most profoundly felt. He is mourned by his devoted children Kimberly (Randolph) Holmes, Phillip (Jennifer) Flynn, and Amanda (Kyle) Biglow, and his absence will leave an irreplaceable void. Randy's spirited legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Shelby (Joe), Bryan, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Joe, Jake, Brooke, and Liam, as well as his precious great-granddaughter Layla. Randy's memory is also honored by his siblings, Chris Flynn, Tim (Tony) Flynn, and Marianne (Dave) Hill, who regard him with affection and admiration. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife Janis, to whom he was married for 51 years and who was his beloved high school sweetheart, his parents George and Virginia Flynn, and his brother Dennis Flynn.
Beyond his dedication to family and fellow servicemen, Randy was a man of many passions. An avid collector, he found joy in the pursuit of stamps, each one telling a story from a different corner of the world. The ocean always held a special place in his heart, a testament to his deep appreciation for nature's majesty and the serenity it provided. Randy possessed an insatiable love for literature, often found immersed in a book, eager to discover new worlds through the written word. He also had a well-known affection for Jack Daniels, which became a hallmark of his taste and a spirited topic of conversation amongst acquaintances.
As we bid farewell to Randall "Randy" Paul Flynn, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. His influence and the mold of his character shall remain as a guiding force for those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Though his presence is missed, his spirit endures, a beacon of love and strength to all who carry his memory forward. Kenneth proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, where his dedication was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal and an Honorable Discharge of Service. After his military service, he continued to serve his community in Hartland Township as an assessor, a role in which he demonstrated his keen attention to detail and commitment to public service.
Upon retirement, Kenneth discovered a passion for woodworking. His skilled hands and creative spirit brought joy to many as he crafted intricate models and beautiful pieces, including a remarkable 12,000 piece wooden ship model that showcased his love for ships and lighthouses. This love was also evident in his involvement with the "Hartland Players," where his performances in plays delighted thousands over the years.
Kenneth's interests were as vast as his talents. He was an avid gardener, nurturing life with the same gentle care he showed to those around him. His artistic abilities shone through in painting and model building, and he often found solace in the melodies he played on the piano and guitar. A passionate musician and artist, Kenneth's creativity was boundless, and his works are lasting testaments to his ability to capture and share beauty.
An extreme Detroit Lions fan, Kenneth's loyalty to his team was unwavering, and he approached each game with the same optimism and enthusiasm that he carried throughout his life. His love for chess revealed his strategic thinking and patience, traits that made him an excellent chess player and a thoughtful companion. His love for the inspiration and serenity found in Bob Ross's paintings reflected his own approach to life: calm, positive, and always looking for the beauty in every canvas, whether it was a literal one or the metaphorical canvas of life.
Kenneth's gentle nature was most evident in his role as a father. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Manderfield Jr., who will forever cherish the memories of a father whose love knew no bounds. His sister, Diane Manderfield, will remember Kenneth as a caring brother, whose kindness and gentle spirit were a source of comfort and strength.
Kenneth will fondly be remembered as a man of many talents—a creative soul who could build and fix anything, a gentle presence in any room, and a handy individual who could always be relied upon. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be treasured always.
A visitation will be held for Kenneth from 3-7pm on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, Michigan. A service to celebrate Kenneth's life will take place at 12pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the funeral home with visitation beginning at 11am until the time of service. Blanche was so loved by her granddaughters, Charlotte and Cecelia. She passed on her love of arts and crafts to them, and they loved spending time together painting, drawing, and coloring. Her fun, creative, and loving personality will be remembered by anyone and everyone who knew her. She loved to travel, enjoyed musicals, walking in nature, visiting Lake Michigan, and supporting her daughter and granddaughters in everything they did.

Katrina Jane Raby - May 12, 1953 - April 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Katrina Jane Raby, age 70, passed away on April 27, 2024. Katrina (Katie) was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 12, 1953, to John and Joann Lownie. Growing up, she loved spending summers at her family cottage in Grand Haven, Michigan with her sisters Kristin and Helen, and her cousins. Katie loved the Detroit Tigers, all types of music (but especially the Beatles), musicals, and cruises. Katie graduated from Cody High School in 1971. After graduating high school, Katie went on to enroll in the radiology program at Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit Michigan, where she became a board-certified x-ray technician. It was while she was working at Mt. Carmel that Katie met her loving husband, James Raby.
James and Katie were married on June 27, 1986, and Katie became the beloved bonus mom to Jennifer and Jamie. In 1989, Katie gave birth to her daughter, Sarah. Katie loved being a wife, a mother, and Bomba. After leaving the work force in 1991 Katie became a stay-at-home mom. During this time, Katie loved her role as Girl Scout Troop Leader, Awana’s leader, and horse show mom. She never missed a gymnastics meet or a band concert.
Katie was saved and baptized at Bethel Baptist Temple in Livonia, Michigan. She became involved in the church and volunteered at Vacation Bible School, and summer camp. Her other accomplishments include being president of the Detroit Police Wives Association. Katie loved to make people laugh and always made a new friend wherever she went.
Katie kept her sense of humor until the end. She spent her last few days joking with her sister Helen and talking of yesteryears. She was surrounded by family in her final days and left the world holding the hands of her daughters, Sarah and Jamie.
Katrina is preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Joann, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Doris and Charles. Katrina is survived by her husband James, her daughters Sarah and Jamie, sisters Helen (Mark) Neithercut and Kristin (Al) Gaiefsky. Her grandchildren Emily, Jeremy, Hailey, Kyle, Manda, and Taylor. And 8 great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 at the funeral home, from 2 PM until the time of the Funeral which will begin at 7 PM with Pastor Tim Christoson officiating. He was a guiding light and mentor to his family, showing them the importance of passion and creativity in everyday life. Preceding him in death was his sister Claudia (Mike) Delp, with whom he has joined in paradise.
For over three decades, Charles dedicated his talents to General Motors, retiring with a legacy of steadfast service and a strong work ethic. His thirst for knowledge was unending, as he was entirely self-taught in the realms of music reading and performance. With an innate ability, he played multiple instruments by ear, bringing harmony and melody to the lives of those around him.
Charles's unwavering love for his church illuminated the strength of his faith and fellowship. He was a masterful musician; his passion for music was not confined to one instrument or genre. His fingers could tease out the most delicate of tunes from any instrument he touched—a true testament to his adaptability and creative spirit.
His love for music was so profound that he built a recording studio in his backyard, turning his private haven into a sanctuary for sound and creativity. This space was not only a reflection of his dedication to his craft but also served as a place where he could inspire and uplift others through the universal language of music.
Apart from his musical endeavors, Charles's heart was as generous as it was big. He will be remembered for the extraordinary kindness he extended to others. He never hesitated to lend a hand, whether it was installing a water heater for someone in need or purchasing a car for another. His acts of generosity extended far beyond occasional help; they were lifelong investments in the wellbeing of his community.
Charles's life was characterized by love, creativity, and benevolence. Loving in every sense, he nurtured and supported his family, offering encouragement and joy without reservation. Creative in his approach to both music and problem-solving, he crafted solutions that harmonized with the needs of those he cared for. Generous in spirit, he enriched lives without expectation of repayment.
A man such as Charles Paul Elmasian leaves an enduring imprint on the hearts of all who knew him. His melodies will continue to resonate within the memories of his family, friends, and all who were privileged to witness his musical gifts. His love for his alma mater never waned, and he remained a lifelong fan of all things Michigan.
His heart was always at home with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne Bennett-Carpenter. He was a devoted father to their children, Joe, Phil and his wife Amy, Katie and her husband Ryan, and Sharri and her husband Aaron. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply.
John's love for his family extended to his grandchildren, Jane, Dani, Patrick, Natalie, Nolan, Kate, and Jacob. He treasured every moment spent with them. His grandchildren will forever remember their grandfather's fun loving nature.
Brother to Christine, Kathy, Gerianne, Patrice, Laurie and the late Beth and Robert Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John's spirit for the outdoors was infectious. His happiest moments were spent in nature, sharing his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. Up north was a sanctuary for John, a place where he could connect with the world around him and share his love for Michigan's natural beauty.
John cultivated a group of lifelong friends who stood by him through thick and thin. These friends were an extension of his family, and their unwavering support and love were with him until the end.

Sue will be sorely missed by her sister Pam (Bill) and sister-in-law Dorine. She is predeceased by her parents, Jeremiah and Patricia Armstrong, and her brother Jay.
With the same depth of love she showed her family, Sue cared for her farm animals the same way. She will be fondly remembered for always knowing how to have fun, her talents as an artist, her gardens and flowers, her love for wildlife and nature, and the love she gave her family.

She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law Robert Turner and her beloved cat, Kaz, who was a constant companion.
The love story of Michelle and her devoted husband, Michael Turner, was one for the ages. Together, they built a life rich in laughter and mutual respect. Their union was blessed with three wonderful daughters, Lauren (Reed) Johnson, Amie Turner, and Kelli Turner, who Michelle raised with an unwavering commitment to their happiness and success. She was also the proud grandmother to Isaac Johnson, a role she embraced with all the tenderness in her heart.
Michelle's professional life as a seamstress and a bookkeeper was marked by her meticulous attention to detail and her innate ability to organize and manage. However, her true vocation was being a loving wife and raising her three daughters, a role she performed with grace and selflessness. Music filled her home with harmony, while her love for doing puzzles, arts & crafts, and cheering on her favorite sports team, the Green Bay Packers, with an enthusiastic "GO PACK GO!" showcased her playful and passionate side.

Obituary Preview: Lillian Marie Johnson (née Swanson), age 88 of Howell, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Bill (William) Johnson. She was born September 22, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of Swedish immigrants Harold and Sally (Anderson) Swanson.
While attending Michigan State College, she met a handsome young Air Force ROTC cadet. They married on June 20, 1956, and set off for Germany where Bill was stationed as an officer in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to Michigan, Lillian received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. With a growing young family, Lillian and Bill built and moved to a home in Howell in 1973. Loving mother of Sue Johnson, Sharon (Matthew) Childers, Peter (Katie) Johnson, and Sally (Sage) Eastman, Lillian is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Lillian loved the arts - visiting museums and attending musical and theatrical performances. She was extremely creative expressing herself through painting, sewing, and needlework and was an avid and excellent gardener. Lillian was active in the church and community including as a member of the Friends of the Library (Howell Carnegie Library). She will be remembered for her dedication and as a cheerful and loyal friend by those who knew her throughout her life.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, at 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Howell, with Rev. Doug McMunn officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the start of the services at noon; a luncheon will follow. Internment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell. She loved her family, travel, her Swedish heritage and her Lutheran faith. She loved to entertain, play cards, share laughter, stories and wine. She was renowned for her amazing pies and cookies which were sold exclusively at her son Tim’s restaurant in Tawas, MI. She made friends everywhere she went and treasured her friendships.

Born in Lafayette, IN on May 14, 1936, Ron leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Vivian (Steinacker) Grove, daughter Deborah (Loren) Meyer, sons Michael (Jana), Thomas (the late Elizabeth), and Timothy (Barbara) Grove; His 5 grandchildren, Courtney (Mike) Kennedy, Jonathon Meyer, Jordan (Brit) Grove, Christopher (Katie) Meyer, and Amanda Grove; His 8 great grandchildren, Jason, Nate, Dominic, Graham, Natalie, Claire, Tyler, and Teddy.
Ron was very active in many Masonic fraternity groups in both Michigan and Florida until, due to health issues he couldn't participate anymore.
Ron was the oldest living Past Master of Howell Lodge #38, F & A M for many years. He served as Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star # 372 on 3 occasions for both his wife and daughter.
He was also a member and/or leader of numerous other Masonic fraternities at both the local and state levels. He also served for MANY years as chairman of the state orphans committee. He also touched the lives of many through DeMolay and Rainbow. Ron was "coach" to all of his sons and numerous other local boys, many of whom still call him "coach" to this day! He also served as an umpire for many years. Even though he wasn't a young man, he could keep up with those young kids and he never missed a call!
Ron was employed as a computer programmer and systems analyst for Citizens Insurance, Chrysler Corporation and Farm Bureau Insurance.
He enjoyed commuting back and forth between Michigan and Florida for many years, finally settling in Palmetto on a permanent basis, where he forged many friendships. Ron and Vivian were moved to Lakeland in 2022, where both Debbie and Tom live.
All of this doesn't even begin to describe everything this wonderful man accomplished in his long life. He will be missed by all those who loved and knew him. Funeral services for Ron will be held Saturday, April 20, at 11:00 AM (visitation 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM) at Watkins Funeral Homes, MacDonald’s Chapel of Howell. Visitation will be Friday, April 19 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. An Order of Easter Star and Masonic Memorial Service will take place Friday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. JoAn was not only a devoted homemaker but also a successful entrepreneur, owning a beauty salon and a small business tax service. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she balanced her professional life with personal grace.
On November 18, 1964, JoAn married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Geib, in Ohio. Their union was one of deep affection and mutual respect, lasting 48 years until Robert's passing. Together, they created a home that was a haven of hospitality and love, residing both in Michigan and Florida over the years.
A woman of faith and spirit, JoAn's presence in the church was a testament to her belief in community and service. She was often heard singing hymns with a voice that echoed her inner joy. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she took great pleasure in hosting holiday dinners, where she shared not only her food but also her heart.
Volunteering at the hospital, JoAn demonstrated her courageous spirit and commitment to helping others. Her life was a reflection of the values she held dear: faith, love, and service.

Edith also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Cynthia Bass, who was like a third daughter to her. In her final years, she found great comfort and joy in the loving care of her granddaughter, Jennifer Carrell, who was not only her caregiver but also a cherished companion.
Edith's passion for photography allowed her to capture the beauty of the world around her and preserve the precious moments of her family's life. Her artistic talent was just one of the many ways she expressed her love and creativity.
Edith's commitment to her faith and community was unwavering. She was a dedicated member and church elder of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Howell since 1984. Her involvement in the church extended to the Friendship Bible Coffee and her role as a Sunday School Teacher, where she touched the lives of many with her wisdom and kindness.
Her community engagement did not stop at the church doors. Edith was an active member of several associations, including the Young At Heart Club, King's Daughters And Sons' Club, Philomatheon Society, the Kiwanis Women's Association, Stephen's Ministries, and the Women's Garden Club. Through these organizations, she forged lasting friendships and contributed to numerous charitable causes, always striving to make a positive impact on those around her.
Edith's predeceased family members, including her loving husband Merritt, her parents Harry and Genevieve Bizek, her six siblings, and her daughter-in-law, Susan, undoubtedly greeted her with open arms as she joined them in eternal peace.

Lucy was born on August 19, 1927 in McGregor, MI, the daughter of Trayton Alexander and Agnes Mae (Reid) Gough. She attended Sandusky High School and was in the graduating class of 1946. As a teenager, Lucy worked at a local pickle factory and at IGA, a local grocery store in Deckerville. It was at IGA, where Lucy met Carl Scott and their story began. Carl and Lucy were married on July 30, 1949 in McGregor. The two loved to travel, and settled in Southfield for a few years while raising a family. Lucy and Carl were blessed with four children.
Lucy had a few jobs throughout her life, constantly looking for something better, but she retired from Southfield Public Schools as a bus driver. In her and Carl’s retirement, they worked at Brighton Chrysler Plymouth. Lucy was a caring woman who when she was not spending time with her family, she volunteered for St. Joseph Hospital in Howell. In her free time, she loved to read, travel, and garden. In the spring, you could find Lucy planting flowers in the yard of her home. In the wintertime, Carl and Lucy found a second home in Arizona. In the summer, they were up at Higgins Lake whenever they had the chance.
Lucy’s life is left to be celebrated by her children, Daniel (Kimberly) Scott of New Hudson and Bonnie (Jon) Unruh of Brighton; her 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Wallunas of West Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Scott; children, Carl Scott Jr. and Shirley Miller; her parents, Trayton and Agnes Gough; siblings, Alma Jean Freiburger, Trayton Gough, Reed Gough, and John Gough.
