Elizabeth D. Gore - February 16, 1925 - May 05, 2024

Departed: 05/05/2024 (Clark)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth Daisley Gore (Betty) passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in New Providence, NJ, on May 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 99 years old.
Betty was fortunate to enjoy good health throughout her long life. Betty’s life was defined by her lifelong devotion to her husband Ed, with whom she enjoyed 70 years of marriage up to Ed’s passing in late 2019, her devotion to her large family, and her devotion to her Catholic faith. Her keen intelligence, kindness, and patience touched the lives of many family and friends across her lifetime.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 16, 1925, she was the second of two daughters to Roger Edwin Daisley and Alice Fay. Roger, of English descent, was known in his youth as an accomplished sprinter who was selected for the 1916 Olympics, which was later canceled due to the outbreak of World War I. He was a World War I Army veteran and was a fourth-generation executive for a Brooklyn-based firm that produced sheet metal products and defense equipment during World War II. Alice, of Irish and German descent, passed along her intelligence, work ethic, and devotion to family to her daughters.
Betty spent her youth in Howard Beach, NY, and due to her keen intelligence, skipped over multiple grades in grade and high school. She entered Queens College at the age of 16, requiring a four subway and bus commute. However, World War II required a shift of the economy to support the war effort, and Betty did her part by joining the assembly line to solder components for F-14 Tomcats at the Grumman Aircraft Company in Bethpage, NY. After the war, Betty received an associate degree from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and enjoyed several secretarial positions.
In 1948, she met the love of her life, Ed, on a blind double date with her sister Carolyn and her eventual husband’s Phi Kappa Phi fraternity brother at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. After a short courtship and upon their marriage in October 1949, she joined her husband in Liberty, NY, while he built a NYC water supply tunnel. They then moved to Rahway, NJ while he built a power plant in Perth Amboy, NJ, and eventually settled in Roselle, NJ, when her husband joined Robbins Construction Company in Union, NJ, where he had a successful career starting as their Estimator and eventually taking over as the President/Owner until his retirement in 1984.
Moving to Roselle, NJ, in 1953, they grew their family. Many happy summers from 1964 to 1982 were spent at their summer home in Barnegat Light, NJ, where the family enjoyed many happy memories. Upon her husband’s retirement, they relocated to their dream home in Westfield, NJ. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, knitting and sewing, crossword puzzles, word and card games, gardening, and creating countless wonderful memories for all her children and grandchildren, while hosting and attending numerous holiday gatherings. After 20 years in Westfield, they relocated to Scotch Plains, NJ, for 15 years, and finally to The Chelsea at Warren, where Betty enjoyed the last five years under their excellent care.
Surviving her are her five children: Laureen Neuroth, Lois Lanza Gore, Edward (Robin) Gore, Roger (Eugenia) Gore and Paul (Linda) Gore; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Gore is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her sister Carolyn, and her son-in law Gary Neuroth. Emily Bonaccorso D'Urbano - April 11, 1942 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Clark)
Obituary Preview: Emily Bonaccorso D’Urbano, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by her three loving children on Wednesday April 10, 2024, one day before her 82nd birthday. Beloved wife of 52 years to the late Ennio D’Urbano, she dedicated her life to raising their family.
Born on April 11, 1942, at home in Garwood, NJ, Emily grew up in Clark and continued her education at Kean University, where she graduated in 1964 to become a first grade teacher for Garwood Public Schools. Next came the roles she treasured most, mother of three, and eventually grandmother of seven.
Emily was a quintessential “people person” who could strike up an enjoyable conversation with anyone, anywhere, at any time. Her passion for cooking and baking, especially her legendary meatballs, homemade pasta and desserts, will live on in the memories of the many who gathered around her table for good food and lots of laughs. And whenever a beloved pet would wander anywhere near said table, Emily would undoubtedly offer them a nibble (or three). Her home was always filled with the sounds of Elvis and 1950’s rock and roll music, so her children will forever continue to think of her whenever they hear that genre.
While Emily’s family is utterly heartbroken and cannot imagine a world without her in it, they are relieved that she is at last freed from her struggle with recent health issues, which she had battled with her strong will and fighting spirit.
The life lessons she taught and example she set in countless areas will live on through her children and grandchildren, and she will be intensely missed.
Emily was predeceased by her husband, Ennio, parents Lena and Salvatore Bonaccorso, as well as her cherished older brother Joseph Bonaccorso, and his twin, Michael, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her daughter Christie Storms (Cliff), sons David D’Urbano (Denise) and Paul D’Urbano (Mary), and her seven grandchildren, Eric, Timmy, Matthew, Jacqueline, Lucia, Sarah and Alexander as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces. As Emily absolutely loved children and working with children, those wishing to honor her memory may donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, http://www.stjude.org Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at Walter Johnson Funeral Home, Clark, on Sunday, April 14 from 2 - 6 pm. The Funeral begins on Monday at the Funeral Home at 9 am, thence to St. Agnes Church, Clark, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 am. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
