Hazel M. Ward - February 27, 1932 - April 23, 2022

Obituary Preview: Hazel Margueritte Ward, 90, surrounded by family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Hazel was born in East Townsend and graduated from Townsend School in 1950, and she was a life-long resident of Collins.
Hazel retired from Ford Motor Company after 37 dedicated years as a spot-welder. She was a life-long member of Norwalk Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, an AWANA youth leader, a Bible School leader, as well as a helper in the nursery and kitchen.  She was also very active in the Roy Program having had numerous little sisters during that time. Hazel was a member of the Wakeman Grange for many decades, helping out at the Grange fair booth each August.  In addition, she represented the local grange on the state level and helped with the state grange deaf ministry.
She was an avid Western Reserve fan and supporter for anything dealing with the Roughriders.  She was a scorekeeper for girls volleyball and girls basketball for many years. She helped with the athletic program by selling tickets and programs at football games and basketball games.  She continued to volunteer for several days a week by mostly helping second-grade students study for math and spelling tests.
Her love of sports included not just the Roughriders, but anything Cleveland, especially the Cleveland Indians.  She tried to attend at least one baseball game each year, but she would watch them every chance she got.  She also enjoyed playing softball in local women’s league for many years.  In addition, she coached a girls team for the NWGSL for many years, winning the league championship several times.
She is survived by her sister, Cornelia (Larry) Giesecke of Collins; brother, Warren Nelson Ward of Alabama, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces, and great-grand-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents Marjorie and Warren Ward, and sister Viona Carey.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 12 pm until the time of funeral service at 1 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. Burial will follow in Collins Cemetery.
Those wishing to contribute to Hazel’s memory may do so to her family, to be donated to the youth program at Calvary Baptist Church and the girls’ athletic programs at Western Reserve High School.

She was born December 6, 1947, in Norwalk to the late Elizabeth (Stallkamp) and Walter Kluding. Mrs. Schick was a graduate of St. Paul High School, class of 1965, and retired from Vacationland Federal Credit Union. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center, swimming at Ernsthausen Rec Center, being part of the Huron County Master Gardeners Club, traveling, playing golf, and gardening at home (especially her roses). Above all, she cherished spending time with family and friends.
Karen is survived by her 2 children: Brian (Lori) Schick of Brunswick and Theresa (Mike) Branson, of Houston, TX., 3 grandchildren, Karlo, Kaela and Faisal; 7 siblings, Patricia Morman, Mary (Thomas) Wilhelm and Raymond (Janice) Kluding, all of Monroeville, Michael Kluding and Rita Huyler, both of Norwalk, William Kluding of Houston, TX and Nancy Kluding of San Bernardino, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband David F. Schick (2015).

He was Born July 8, 1938, in Willard to the late Elery and Eleanor (Schlacter) Dannemiller and was a graduate of Monroeville High School. He lived most of his life in Willard, moving to Norwalk in 2007. Richard was a long-time employee of RR Donnelley in Willard, retiring September 1, 1997. He also owned and operated Dicks Lawn Care business for 33 years. He was a Notary Public and a Huron County Humane Society member. One of his hobbies was restoring and rebuilding John Deere tractors.
Richard was survived by 5 children, 1 stepchild, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, June; 1 son and 1 stepdaughter.

Obituary Preview: John R. Vogt Jr., 82, of Norwalk, died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Born on July 24, 1939, in New London, he was the son of the late John Russell and Kathryn (nee Jump) Vogt Sr. John attended school in Collins and graduated from Western Reserve in 1957. He served in the National Guard for 8 years.
John was a plumber by trade and worked for Ferrell Gas for 25 years. He was a member of the Norwalk Eagles, the Bronson Conservation Club, and the Wakeman Snowballers. In his life there was not much that John did not do, he was a jack of all trades and very handy. He loved to fish, hunt, ride snowmobiles, and was a racehorse jockey. John will be remembered for his stories and his joking sense of humor.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Cleo (nee Bartow); children, Traci (Robert) Caldwell, of Trinity FL, Kelli (Nikhil) Mishra, of Grafton MA, Hal (Sue) Runals, of Sullivan, Mark Runals, of Rochester, Jody Krupp, of Wisconsin, Julie (Christopher) Lehman, of Medina, and Roger (Sheri) Runals, of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary (Barry) Burns, and Nancy Phenicie, both of Norwalk, and Ed (Pat) Vogt, of Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ulrich "Uli" Mangold - January 05, 1931 - April 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ulrich “Uli” Mangold, 91, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Friday morning, April 15, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Uli was born on January 5, 1931, in Backnang, Germany to the late Hugo and Gertrud (Schuele) Mangold.
Uli was a baker’s apprentice in Germany before leaving for the United States with his wife on November 9, 1954. He was employed at Lyman Boat in Sandusky from 1954 – 1956. Uli began working for Norwalk Furniture in 1956 and retired in 1995 after 39 years of dedicated service. He was an active member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, as an usher, and various planning committees. In his spare time, Uli enjoyed camping, wine making, gardening, yard work, woodworking, and taking retirement trips with his wife. Uli was a skilled baker and was well-known for his pretzel rolls, Bavarian pretzels, New Year’s Pretzels, Christmas cookies, and many other baked goods. His greatest joy of all was spending time and celebrating German traditions with his family.
Uli is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Margarete (Schad) Mangold, who he married on October 9, 1954; 4 children, Ernest (Pam) Mangold of Norwalk, Barb (John, Jr.) Knapp of Millersburg, Carol (Kenn) Petersen of Huron, Rose (Richard) Hauler of Norwalk; 6 grandchildren, Sheila, AJ, Jeremy, Heidi, Amy, and Rick; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany.
In addition to his parents, Uli was preceded in death by his 5 siblings, Gertrud, Hugo, Elsbeth, Ruth, and Irmgard in childhood.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 11 am until the time of funeral service at 12 pm at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. Pastor Ann Marshall will be presiding. A burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Richard L. Woodruff - June 19, 1936 - April 12, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard Lewis Woodruff, 85, of North Fairfield, passed away at his home on April 12th, 2022, with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 19th, 1936, at White Cross Hospital, Columbus, to the late Robert Ryerson Woodruff and Edna Wallwork Woodruff.
The passing of his dad when he was 10 made life difficult, and perhaps a result of his being a self-made independent farmer.  He started his farming career selling vegetables and meat rabbits out of his Grandview Heights home at 10 years old. At 17 he came to North Fairfield to farm his grandparents’ farm and met the love of his life, Ann Phillips, and together they built a farming operation thats' legacy will live on with their children’s children.  In his younger years he traveled the country with his champion coon hunting dogs competing in night hunts.  Always an avid hunter and a self-taught conservationist, he devoted his life to improving the land and leaving it better than he found it.
His greatest joy in life was raising his family on the family farm.  His faith was sustained by the miracles of nature, and he could be found in his senior years gazing at the improvements to the land.  He also was a mentor to the many young people that worked for him, and the neighborhood kids loved his sled riding hills.
Those that survive him are his wife of 65 years, Ann (Phillips) Woodruff of North Fairfield; children, MaryAnn Woodruff of Monroeville, Nancy Smith of Norwalk, Molly (Greg) Sestili of Delaware; grandchildren, Kyle (Sara) Smith, Jacob, Joshua, Jonathan Hawk, Grant Fisher, Jennifer Hawk (Steven), Kendall & Brady Sestili; great grandchildren, Rhett, Zoe & Dax Smith, Brody, and Connor Hawk & Israel Ramos.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie (Robert) Irish, and his “surrogate” parents Harry and Helen Woodruff of North Fairfield.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11 am. Burial will follow in North Fairfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Woodruff Family to be donated to North Fairfield Fire Department and North Fairfield Museum in Richard’s honor.

Gerald "Jerry" L. Ackerman - December 16, 1934 - April 10, 2022

Jerry was born on December 16, 1934, in Norwalk, OH to the late Leon and Cecelia (Durnwald) Ackerman.
Jerry graduated from Norwalk St. Paul High School in 1953 and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Scott Paper Company in Sandusky and retired from Norwalk Furniture in 1997. Jerry was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church, lifelong members of the VFW and AMVETS, member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles, and served two terms as Commander for the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, bowling, and just generally staying busy.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Joan (O’Dell) Ackerman, who he married on July 22, 1983; children, Mike (Diane) Ackerman of Bellevue, Ken (Tina) Ackerman of Gulf Port, MS, Jennifer (Ron) Ackerman of Valparaiso, IN, Mark (Renee) Pleasnick of Columbus, and Christine Pleasnick of Norwalk; 8 grandchildren, Brian (Tia), Scott (Shannon), Luke, Kate, Amber, Melissa, Miriam, and Mary; 3 great-grandchildren, Jake, Cole, and Ernie, and brothers, Jim (Jan) Ackerman of Gainesville, FL, and Terry Ackerman of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Lester.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 10:30 until 12:30 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Vivian was born on October 26, 1947, in Fountain Inn, SC to the late James and Margaret (Arnold) Crowe.
Vivian was a dedicated employee of Cognis Manufacturing for 30 years in South Carolina, before retiring in 2002. In 2005, she moved to Norwalk to be closer to her family. Vivian was an active member of the Chapel in Norwalk and enjoyed bible studies and other church activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, decorating, watching basketball with her grandsons, cookouts, and school activities. Vivian’s greatest joy of all was spending time with her family.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Dave) Steffanni; 3 grandchildren, D.J. (Maddie), Devyn, and Dalton; 2 sisters, Barbara (Johnny) Casey, and Jane Landreth, and several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
In addition to her parents, Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Joe” Armstrong, whom she was married to for 37 years.

Dan was born on May 2, 1951, in Toledo, OH to the late Clayton and Doris (Beebe) Kennedy. He grew up in the Toledo area and graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1969.
Immediately following graduation, Dan was employed at Chrysler Toledo Machining for 12 years before becoming a registered nurse. He worked at various Toledo area hospitals for 30 years in varying capacities. Dan had a sense of adventure and enjoyed trying different things. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, and spending time with his wife and their dogs. Dan’s greatest joy of all was watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Robin (Kroon) Kennedy, whom he married on November 4, 1972; daughter, Laura (Troy) Pittenger of Norwalk; 3 grandchildren, Jack, Wes, and Kate; sister, Margaret (Roger) Goad of Marblehead; and 4 nieces, Amy, Missy, Robin, and Renee.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kathryn, who passed away in infancy.

Jay Edward Thurston, 70, of Norwalk, passed away late Friday evening, April 1, 2022, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
Jay was born on March 3, 1952, in Norwalk, OH to the late Ruth (Johnson) and J.E. Thurston.
Jay graduated from Monroeville High School and E.H.O.V.E in 1971 with a degree in industrial electricity and was twice awarded as class foreman. Following graduation, Jay worked for Plymouth ELEC for two years before moving to Fort Wayne, IN and joining the Carpenter’s Union. In 1982, he started Jay’s Home Improvement where he successfully ran the business until health issues arised.
Jay is best known for his ability to skillfully craft furniture. One of his greatest passions was making beautiful pieces for his children, grandchildren, nieces, and great nieces. In his spare time, Jay enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and camping. As long as health allowed, Jay made a yearly camping and fishing trip on the Huron River, usually accompanied by his grandson Gavin, who went on his first trip at six years old.
Jay is survived by his 4 children, Josh (Becky Boone) Thurston of Toledo, Jay Curtis Thurston of Norwalk, Kelly (Bill) Frey of Tuscon, Arizona, and Kristi (Ray) Wyant of Norwalk; 8 grandchildren, Alana, Alexa, Summer, Gavin, Ella, Luke, Clara, and Jacob; friend and mother of his children, Mary Beth Dunham of West Salem; 7 siblings, Marcus Thurston of Sandusky, Elida Jean Snyder of Norwalk, Robert Thurston of Crystal Rock, John (Bev) Thurston of Monroeville, Ruth Anne Blackburn of Utah, James Thurston of Toledo, Kathy Larsen of Utah and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brothers David Thurston and Joseph Thurston in infancy.

Vonda M. Spiegel - December 25, 1926 - March 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Vonda M. Spiegel, 95, passed from Gaymont Nursing Home in Norwalk to heavenly rest, on March 24, 2022.  She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1926, in Lacarne, Ohio, to the late Murland O. and Florence (Fachman) Brunkhorst and was a 1944 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.
Vonda was a longtime member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, where she had been an active member of the choir, Wesleyan Circle, and United Methodist women’s group.  She was a member of Queen Esther Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star for nearly 70 years, and Singara Caldron Grotto Ladies, and American Legion Auxiliary member for over 40 years, as well as many other groups and organizations.
Vonda enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.  She worked for many years, alongside her late husband, Ralph, at Spiegel Insurance, where she managed the office.
Survivors include her children, Paul J. (Peggy) Spiegel of Arkansas, Bryan J. (Susan) Spiegel of Texas, and Marie B. (James) Fresch of Norwalk, Ohio; grandchildren, Jamie Spiegel Hendricks, Jon Crisp, Laura (Scott) Crisp, Mike (Beth) Smith, Michelle Spiegel, Angela (Kevin) McNatt and Alexandra (David) Chew; great grandchildren, Joshelyn Irene, Daniel Johnson, and Emma Crisp, Nathaniel and Gabriel Smith, and Matthew and Zachary McNatt.
In addition to her parents, Vonda was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Spiegel in 1981 and sister, Iris (Arthur) Norris. Friends and family are invited to the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio, where a visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the 2:30 p.m. funeral service, with Rev. Stacey A. (McGinn) Boyd, 35, passed away on March 23rd, 2022, after she bravely fought a 3-year battle with cancer. Stacey passed away at Gaymont Nursing Center where she was surrounded by her loved ones.
Stacey graduated from Monroeville High School in 2005, where she began working hard for the following years to provide for her 2 sons, Jayden, and Jarren. In 2008 Stacey met the love of her life, Martegas Boyd, who she had a loving relationship with. They had their beautiful daughter Malaiya, and 2 years later, got married.
Stacey has a younger sister, Trisha, who she had a very close bond with. They loved doing Just Dance, singing Glee and Dixie Chicks songs and doing karaoke together. Stacey loved being with family and friends. She was always so full of life and really the life of the party anywhere she went. If you knew Stacey, you knew that her biggest obsession was The Golden Girls. Stacey was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend. Stacey took pride in everything she did and never went without a smile on her face.
Stacey is survived by her husband, Martegas (Taggie) Boyd; her two sons, Jayden McLendon, and Jarren McLendon; her daughter, Malaiya Boyd; stepdaughter, Avriona Boyd; her sister, Trisha Beck; her mother, Lori (Craig) Sargeant; her father, David (Laura) Orozco; and her dad, Tom (Mickey) Beck.

Mary L. (Riddle) Meagrow, 94, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Mary was born on August 31, 1927, in Lorain, OH to the late Leslie and Kitty (Early) Riddle.
Mary was a graduate of Lorain High School and worked for over 40 years as an accountant for Crow Lumber and Home Lumber. She was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and served on various committees. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, golfing, cooking, dancing with her husband, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas and Florida. Mary’s greatest enjoyment of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her son, Bob (Sallie) Meagrow of Milan; daughter, Robyn (Dennis) Brady of Norwalk; 6 grandchildren, Laurel (Brian) Shober, Courtney (Chad) Sayler, Ryan (Timea) Brady, Brandon “BJ” (Ashley) Clark, Ashley (Derrick) Hillman, and Kyle (Chelsey) Meagrow; 8 great-grandchildren, Carson Shober, Cyleigh Sayler, Coltyn Meagrow, Chloe Sayler, Olivia Meagrow, Sawyer Hillman, Rhys Brady, and Sutton Hillman.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Meagrow, who passed away in 2008; daughter, Kitty Clark; siblings, Leslie Riddle, Jr., Richard Riddle, Bettie Lesko, Margaret Bursley, and Bonnie Cooperider.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Obituary Preview: Dorothy Jean (McCave) Kullman passed away on March 17, 2022 at the Norwalk Memorial Home.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dot and her husband Jack R. Kullman, moved to Norwalk in 1959 with their three children Jack, Jr., Scott, and Janet when Jack, an engineering manager with Clevite Harris, (now Tenneco), was transferred to the plant in Milan, Ohio.
Dot was a graduate of John Marshall High School in Cleveland and thereafter earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature, Summa Cum Laude, from The Ohio State University where her father, Mark L. McCave, in 1916, earned his Law Degree. Dot was very proud of her Phi Beta Kappa membership at Ohio State and, this year, she was recognized for seventy-five (75) years of membership in Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
Dot was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught an adult Sunday School class, sang in the church choir for forty-three (43) years and was a member of the Love Circle of the United Methodist Women.
She was a volunteer with the Red Cross and served as a Board Member for the Norwalk Public Library for twenty-five (25) years. She was a member of the Shakespeare Club and was the Club’s Secretary for fifty (50) years where she exhibited her wonderful and witty writing style. She also spent many enjoyable years as a member of the Roundabout Reading Club. In her spare time, Dot enjoyed collecting antiques, making many Saturday drives with Jack and close friends Paul and Barbara Carpenter to Garth’s Auction Barn in Delaware, Ohio. When all was said and done, however, Dot most enjoyed spending time and keeping up with all of the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on April 10, 1948, her parents, Mark L. and Sarah (Williams) McCave, her sister Mary June Kasten, brother-in-law Bernard Louis Kasten, and her first grandson, Brad Allen Kullman. Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Jack, Jr. and Deborah (Leslie) of Columbus, Scott and Shar (Nauman) of Mansfield, daughter Janet and spouse Andrew Adams of LaGrange, nine (9) grandchildren, and twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio on March 24, 2022. A burial service at Woodlawn Cemetery will be held immediately following the family service.
A Memorial Service will be subsequently conducted at the Norwalk First United Methodist Church with the date and time to be published when determined.

Obituary Preview: Alfred (Al) D’Ettorre, age 93, passed into the healing arms of the Lord on March 14th, 2022. Al often said his family was truly blessed. He is survived by his children, Annette (Bob) McLaughlin, and sons Joseph (Erin), Dino (Deborah), Victor (Darla), fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and Bonnie, mother of their children and close friend. He looked forward to being reunited in Heaven with his late parents, Frank and Anna, only sister Antoinette and his brothers Dino, Gus and John. An educator at heart, Al was an Engineering instructor in Japan for the U.S. Army during the Korean War, followed by high school teaching positions in Pomeroy, Cleveland, North Olmstead, Bellevue and Greenwich. His career included management positions with Midwest Industries, MTD in Willard, South Central High School Principal in Greenwich, and Administrator of Betty Rinderle School in Erie County. Al had many interests, including Classical music, dancing (especially Polkas), swimming, sailing, tennis, travel, and especially family fun. His varied civic activities included North Fairfield village councilman, and active involvement with the Lions Club and the American Legion. After retiring to Texas, Al was a volunteer with the VA Texas Valley Healthcare System. A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date on the shores of Lake Erie. Survivors include her son, Wilbert E. Harp; 2 grandchildren, and brothers, Corwin E. (Shirley) Nichols of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Thomas E. (Joan) Nichols of New London, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John in 2017.

Obituary Preview: Christopher “Kit” Angell, 80, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home, ending a long journey with Parkinson’s and Parkinson’s Dementia. Kit was born in Norwalk, OH on May 24, 1941, to the late Emily and Alan (Scotty) Angell, Sr. Kit was raised in Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1959. He was very proud to have maintained close friendships with his high school classmates and looked forward to their monthly luncheons.
Next to spending time with his family and attending sporting and other events of his daughters, and grandchildren, Kit loved boating and spending time at his own private island, Angell Island, located in the Thousand Island region of the St. Lawrence River in upstate New York. He also loved his golden retrievers, putzing around on projects, boats, cars, and Ohio State football. Kit bowled in the Elks Bowling League for close to 50 years. Kit found a friend in everyone and had a knack for sharing stories that brought a smile to your face.
Kit worked for over 30 years at Norwalk Concrete Industries, and he also worked for Plastic Molders Supply and Bleile Supply. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and attended the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk. Kit also loved attending The Church of the St. Lawrence when he was spending time at Angell Island.
Kit is preceded in death by his parents, Alan Scott Angell, Sr. and Emily (Williams) Angell.
Kit is survived by his loving wife, Deb (Albright) Angell; brother, Alan (Margi) Angell, Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL; daughters, Andrea (Jim) Gillcrist of Bethesda, MD and Jenni (Josh) Nickoli of Norwalk; grandchildren, Cameron Nickoli of Summerville, SC and Carter and Carley Nickoli, both of Norwalk.

He was a loving and caring spouse to his wife, Diane; a friend and partner to his sister and brother-in-law, Linda, and Bob Stower, and he was an excellent example of what a father should be to his children, William C. and Kelley Duncan, Brett and Nicole Duncan, stepchildren, Jason Miller, Travis and Stephanie Miller. Bill’s grandchildren are Owen, Madison, Malia, Kilee, Kelsey, Cody, and Lily. He was a mechanic who spent his life fixing anything he could, for anyone that needed it. His wit, sense of humor, and desire to take care of his family was a part of him until the very end. His courage, bravery, and resilient spirit will always be remembered by those that called him, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his best friend.
His family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst. It is no surprise; Bill continued to make new friends and inspire others throughout the end of his journey.

Betty Mae (McCleery) Deisher, 94, residing in Durham, North Carolina passed away early Monday morning, February 21, 2022.
Betty was born in Mansfield Ohio December 16, 1927, to parents Dwight McCleery and Ilda Ruth (Harmon) McCleery. Betty graduated from New London High School in 1946 and attended college at Perdue and Baldwin-Wallace college for one year before she quit school to marry Walter Hainline in 1947. They had 2 sons, Warren Lee Hainline and Thomas Alan Hainline. Betty and Walter divorced in 1977. Then Betty met and married Wilbur “Web” Deisher, who passed away in 2010. Shortly after Web passed, Betty moved to North Carolina to be closer to her sons.
Betty worked at various secretarial and bookkeeping jobs including 7 years at Jennings Ready Mix in Norwalk. She volunteered for over 8000 hours at Fisher Titus Hospital and volunteered at the VFW post for Friday fish fries with Web. She loved singing in the choir at the Methodist church in Norwalk, where she went on several mission trips with church members. She also sang in the choir at Salem Church in Millingport, NC. She loved flowers and always had flower gardens.
Betty is survived by one sister, Irene Corey, her youngest son Thomas Hainline and Warren’s wife Jo Anne Carol Hainline (daughter-in-law), Brett Aaron Hainline (grandson)(Kelly - Brett's wife), Garrett Matthew Hainline (grandson)(Robin- Garrett's wife), Clayton Taylor Hainline (grandson), Jackson Robert Hainline (great grandson) and Charlotte Leigh Hainline (great granddaughter), Tom’s wife Susan Carter and her son Andrew Wade, Tom’s daughter Koni Jean Brown, her husband Eric Brown, their daughters Jennifer Brown, Stephanie Brown and her great-great grandson Declan Paul Brown. Betty is also survived by her stepdaughter, Beverly Deisher Surratt, her husband, Gary, and their 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wilbur “Web” Deisher, Betty is preceded in death by her brother, Richard McCleery.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 10 am until the time of memorial service at 11 am at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery.

Walter Sazdanoff - November 15, 1929 - February 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Walter Sazdanoff, 92, of Norwalk, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 18, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long history of kidney and heart failure.  He was born on November 15, 1929, in Capari, Macedonia to the late Atnans (Tom) and Stevanka (Stella) Sazdanoff.
Walter worked for over 32 years at the Tenneco (formerly Gould/Clevite) in Milan, Ohio.  He was known as “the Greek” at work.  He would kid around with his co-workers, but he sure was ornery.  He was also the co-owner of the Court House Café with his brother Karl.  After his shift at work (Clevite) he would help him nightly to close the bar.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He loved going to their sporting events and cooking daily.  He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
Walter was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather.  All knew him as “Dedo”, which means “grandfather” in his Yugoslavian language.
He is survived by his loving wife Tatjana (Tanya) Sazdanoff.  The two were married on June 19, 1957.  He is also survived by his son, Dennis (Dijana) Sazdanoff; his daughter, Stella (Gary) Barman; his granddaughters, Kathy (Mikey), Stephanie (Dan) and Jennifer (Dan); his grandson, Peter; great grandchildren, Alivia, Mason and Logan and numerous nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brothers, Kosta (Blaga) Sazdanoff and Karl (Vera) Sazdanoff and sister, Helen Petrovski.
The family would like to thank the Southern Care Hospice staff and Dr. Crosby and Dr. May’s staff and office for their loving care. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Moehle; her sister, Heather Corder (Jason Downing); her brothers, Brian Boetticher and Greg Boetticher; her longtime boyfriend, James Leigh; her nieces, Brittany, Faith and Dawn; her nephew, Brandon; uncle, Jeff Moehle; aunt, Pam Barnhart; cousin, Jimmy (and many more cousins); and special friend, who was like a second mother, Laura Saylor. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, Tom Moehle Sr.; her grandmothers, Leona Boetticher and Jeanine Moehle, and uncle, Tom Moehle Jr. To honor Michelle’s wishes she will be cremated, and a private immediate family celebration of her life is being planned at the Norwalk Eagles Club 711, 151 Cline St, Norwalk, Ohio. Gfell, 97, of Monroeville, Ohio, a tour guide for over 20 years for the Thomas Edison birthplace in Milan, Ohio, has undoubtedly already introduced himself personally to Mr. Edison and is probably already in charge of his heavenly historical tours.  Russell himself "toured" peacefully from this life to the next, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.  He was under the care of the staff at Providence Care Center in Sandusky.  Russell was born on May 12, 1924, in Bellevue, Ohio to the late Albert Henry and Ada Emma (Seibel) Gfell.
He met his bride, the late Nedra Gfell at Firelands Chorus, where she played piano, and he sang.  He also played both the organ and piano and had been a treasurer for the Lyme Church for nearly 40 years, as well as a sales coordinator for Stein Associates. Russell genuinely enjoyed yardwork and took meticulous care of his gardens.
Survivors include his children, Julie (Christopher) Kristenak of Toledo, OH and Jennifer (Vincent) Kessler of Norwalk, OH; grandchildren, C.J., Kyla and Vincent Andrew.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his loving wife Nedra (Thompson) Gfell in 2020 and sisters, Mildred (Richard) Yingling, Roberta (Frances) Burk and Martha Jane (Mark) Burr.
