Wilma June Davis - September 27, 1934 - February 27, 2024

Departed: 02/27/2024 (Loveland)
Obituary Preview: Grammie wrote her obituary in August of 2020. God brought her home on February 27, 2024. -----------------------
Wilma June (Hager) Davis was born to Hilda V. and August E. Hager on September 27, 1934 in Dillwyn, KS. She was the only girl and she had 4 brothers. She grew up in a very rural area where there were 3 houses, a blacksmith shop, and a large grain elevator managed by her father. This is known as Dillwyn, KS. She started school in a 1-room school where there were 8 students (for grades 1 through 8) taught by 1 teacher. When the country school closed, she finished grade school at St. John, KS, then Jr High and High School at Macksville, KS. She attended Girls State during her Junior year and graduated the next year as Salutatorian. She entered Wesley Hospital Nursing School with a special exception as she was only 16 years old. The second year of training, she met the love of her life and eloped with Leroy I. Davis, Sr. in December of 1952.
They were married almost 43 years before he passed from a massive heart attack. During this 43 years, they started their world in Pratt, KS. Kay Anne (Davis) Persichitte, Leroy I. Davis, Jr., and Tom R. Davis were welcomed to this world. They started a Cushman Dealership along with Leroy being a mechanic at the Ford Garage. When Kay was about 6 years old, they moved to Garden City, KS where Kim L. (Davis) Beckett was born. Leroy (known in KS as Nobby) worked as a mechanic at the Ford Garage. In 1962 (Kim being about 6 months old), they packed up lock stock and barrel and moved to Loveland, CO. What a great decision! Leroy worked at the Ford Garage and Wilma was employed as a graveyard dispatcher for the Loveland Police Department. In 1964 they started Leroy’s Sinclair which they ran until 1970 when they moved down on Hwy 402 and went totally in the towing and wrecker service.
Wilma helped Leroy operating a truck as needed for several years until their sons were old enough to drive. As this occurred, Wilma went to work as the first female (as a certified officer) in the Larimer County Sherriff’s Department. She worked there almost 20 years, retiring as a Sergeant. It was at this time that females had to work twice as hard to get half as far. It doesn’t work that way today.
I have had a truly blessed life. Our kids are great! Leroy and Wilma finally sold their wrecker business and Leroy (known as Dipper in CO) drove over the road. He loved his Peterbilt truck. After Dipper’s death, Wilma spent the winters in Mesa, AZ being the Activity Director at the park where she lived. After 4 years, her children decided she could travel anywhere but she had to live in Loveland due to medical concerns. She enjoyed many community projects with the Loveland Lions Club. Wilma particularly loved the little train in North Lake Park. She lived life to the fullest. She is a member of the First Christian Church and an honorary member of the Road Knights.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 4 brothers, and her son, Tom. She is survived by Kay (Andy) Persichitte, JR (Shirley) Davis, and Kim (Ben) Beckett, 8 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids. Please don’t say she died with the virus…make it old age. “Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways…totally worn out, shouting Holy Moly, what a ride!!!” -----------------------

Kimberly is survived by her devoted boyfriend Bill, her loving ex-husband Randy, her loyal dog Bella, her three sons Andrew, Stephen, and Dillon, and her cherished granddaughters Emi, Zoe, Kellani, Aspen, and Willow. Charles Delbert Rodgers - September 04, 1934 - February 21, 2024

Departed: 02/21/2024 (Loveland)
Obituary Preview: Charles “Chuck” D. Rodgers of Loveland, CO passed away peacefully with family close by on February 21, 2024 at the age of 89. He was born September 4, 1934 in Beverly, NE, one of two children born to Bert and M. Irene Rodgers. Bert and Irene divorced, and Irene married Paul Gaines. Paul raised both Chuck and his sister Shirley from a very young age. Chuck lived in lots of places growing up, but finally settled in Boulder CO. That’s where he met the love of his life, Wilma “Willie” (Helfrich) Rodgers.
They married in 1954 in Boulder. Together they had two children, a daughter, Linda and son, Steven.
Chuck worked in construction all his life. He built custom homes in the Boulder area. He built the family home in Boulder, where he and Wilma stayed for 52 years. Chuck had many talents. Besides being a skilled builder, he was also a great mechanic—there was nothing he couldn’t repair or figure out a fix for. He was a knowledgable in the ways of farming and ranching, and was a natural horseman who led pack teams on mountain trails in and around the Estes Park area.
Chuck and the family loved camping and he built several campers that they would stay in almost every weekend during the summers. There was always some fishin’ going on if Chuck had anything to do with it. After the kids were grown and out of the house, Willie finally convinced Chuck to take Country Swing lessons. Chuck never liked dancing until then, but he got good at it and after that they danced every chance they got. I’m sure right now they are both dancing a two- step in heaven!
In 2011 Chuck and Willie moved from their longtime home in Boulder to a home in Loveland, CO, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They lived out the final years of their lives there.
For all his talents and abilities and a life filled with many great stories, Chuck will be remembered most as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him, but he will live on in our memories.
Chuck was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilma, and his parents, Paul and Irene Gaines and Bert and Judy Rodgers.
He is survived by his two children Linda Disney (Dave) of Loveland CO and Steven Rodgers of Yoder WY ; grandchildren Clayton Nelsen and Dena Nelsen (Linda’s kids) and great grandson Sutton Nelsen (Clayton’s son).

Departed: 02/13/2024 (Loveland)
Obituary Preview: Avon Anderson grew up in Bay City, MI and was born to Bela Dora and Dewy Anderson. She was the second youngest of nine children. She had a spunky zest for life, growing up surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins, developing a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to connect with people.
In Avon’s senior year in high school, she moved in with her sister and her brother-in-law, Ione and Ken (KC) Williams. She worked as a seamstress and helped raise Ione and KC’s four children, Kenny Jr, David, Sharon and Sandra. The family left Michigan, headed for California, but along the way, their 1958 Ford Edsel with the Airstream in tow, broke down in Loveland, CO. The family decided to stay in Loveland and called it home for many years.
While living in Loveland, Avon worked many different jobs. She worked for Hewlett Packard, the Lego factory, and the Levi factory. KC started a construction company in Loveland and later relocated to Hayden Lake, ID. In Idaho, Avon worked on the construction sites during the day, and in the garment factory in the evenings. In her forties, Avon studied and earned her GED and her real estate license - in the very same day. After spending several years as a realtor (and working for several other companies), Avon and KC started their own real estate company, Gateway Realty. Avon sold real estate in Post Falls, ID for 20 years. Once retired, Avon, Ione, and KC moved four times in six years. First, from Post Falls, ID back to Loveland, CO. Next, they headed southwest to Las Cruces, New Mexico, and shortly after that - to Buhl, ID, before finally settling down in Huachuca City, AZ. Avon would joke that after all the various moves in Penske trucks, she was experiencing “Penske” withdrawal and just might rent a moving truck and drive around the block to get through the withdrawal symptoms!
While in Arizona, KC fell ill. Ione and Avon cared for him until the Lord took him home. It was two short years later that Ione became sick. Avon cared for her sister till she was called home, too. Avon spent two more years in Arizona, before moving to Loveland, CO to be near her family.
Avon was a woman of many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed many outdoor activities. In her early years, she won several awards in archery competitions. She also enjoyed deer, elk, and antelope hunting. Most mornings, during all seasons of the year, Avon would spend time fishing on Sand Point Lake before going to work for the day. The family traveled the United States in pursuit of achieving a prestigious HAM radio award for reaching all 3077 counties in the United States. This included counties in Hawaii and Alaska. Avon was adept in using morse code.
Avon, Ione, Sharon, and Sandra shared a love of crafting and attended several crafting conventions. Avon enjoyed creating cards for family and friends. Her creations were always beautiful, detailed, and clever. She would always stamp the back of her cards with “better than a Hallmark”. In addition, she enjoyed pouring ceramics and creating horse hair pottery.
Avon is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and one great, great, great niece and one great-great-great nephew. She was just as her Chevy Blazer license plate said, GR8 ANT.

Ronald Murray Hill - November 20, 1934 - February 07, 2024

Departed: 02/07/2024 (Loveland)
Obituary Preview: Ron or “Rocky” to his old friends, was born in Washington Kansas to Peter and Elva Hill. He was one of four children. He had an older brother Clifford, an older sister Cleone, a younger brother Robert and a brother lost in childbirth. He loved them all and remained close to them throughout life.
Ron’s family later moved to Beatrice Nebraska where his dad purchased and owned a Pool Hall. Ron grew up in his preteen years often helping his dad take care of the hall. He also became the Nebraska state champion pool player at the age of 14.
Ron’s dad later purchased the Rockhurst Ranch west of Loveland Colorado in 1949. Ron became a stockman, rancher, and a cowboy helping his dad raising, training and selling well-bred ranch horses. Ron often talked about all the livestock that he took care of growing up as a young man. He would milk cows before daylight and spend afternoons riding and training horses. His dad often had as many as 75 horses that needed to be taken care of. His stories of the ranch life surrounded by cattle, horses, chickens, and dogs were a treasure. His friends loved hanging out with him and would often help. Ron’s dad purchased a wheat farm in eastern Colorado and Ron spent one summer with his friend living in a grain silo and sitting on a tractor plowing a section of land with a one-way plow. The following year a riding stable was added to the ranch operation. It was located at First Street and Taft Ave. In the summers Ron would run the stable and rent horses to ride in the nearby country. This is where he met his lifelong love, Shirley Ann Smith. She would come by, and Ron would always put her on a horse that would only go a block or two and come back to the stable. Ron’s dad suddenly passed away and the ranch and stable were sold when Ron was still a young man. Ron then ventured out and moved to California near his older brother and sister. He worked in a production factory and punched a time clock each day. This was not for him, and he longed to go back home to a simpler life. He missed his love Shirley, and they were soon together again.
Ron and Shirley were married on February 22, 1957, in Loveland Colorado. They soon began a family and embarked on Journey together of 67 years. They welcomed with love into their lives Ronnie John Hill in 1957 and Connie Elaine Hill in 1959. The next 12 years were consumed with Ron and Shirley working hard each day and raising their children. These were some of the best memories shared by the Hill family. Ron and Shirley had an advertising business and traveled the western united states. Shirley was the ad salesman with Ron painting advertising and installing stage curtains. In the mid-1960s Ron and Shirley retired from their business and found separate careers. Shirley worked until retirement with HP and Ron working as a carpenter. He was part of a crew that constructed some of the first large condominiums in Ft. Collins. The weekends and vacations were filled with camping and fishing trips to mountain lakes in Colorado and Wyoming. Ron was an accomplished fisherman both in spinning rod and fly rod fishing. These were the best of times for the whole family.
In 1969 Ron was offered a ranch position with Maitland Ranches, a large livestock enterprise of several ranches and a farm. His love of livestock and ranching called him back to his days growing up on his father’s ranch. He soon was asked and accepted the manager position of the operation. He spent the next 20 years supervising the cattle, hay, and farming operations. Ron was known as one of the best cowmen in the western area. Each year the cattle would win top ribbons at the National Western Stock show and sell for a premium dollar. He was also known to the horse world as the best grass hay producer in the country. Dignitaries from all over the world would stop by on their way to Estes to see the prized cattle and beautiful horse hay that was produced. Ron was the inspiration and drive for the success of a high producing ranch. In the late 1980s as the owners retired from the ranch business, Ron and his son took over and leased the ranches. They also leased additional land and built a business together known as Hill Cattle Company. Together they worked raising cattle and hay for the next 12 years. Long days and nights would be the norm and they were often surrounded by the many friends that would help them. Ron was a good friend to many of the neighbors that came to ride and help with the big roundups in the fall. Delbert, Chris, the Shiracks, and the Rankins, would become known as “The Cowboys”. They will be forever a part of the Hill family. Young men including his nephew David Lengkeek and Marty Mielke, Debbie’s brother, enjoyed their summer working for Ron. All the young men never forgot, his humor, and the life lessons he taught them. Later years they would often come by to see him and tell him how those days cemented special and important impressions growing up. One of the largest operations remaining in the area, Hill Cattle Company, retired in 2000.
Ron and Shirley had a small 5-acre home and resided with the dogs, cats, and a retired ranch horse. Ron and Shirley would take enjoyable trips vacationing with Shirley’s sister Donna and her husband Dallas Kalahar. Ron’s daughter Connie was a diamond in his eyes. She gave grandpa two beautiful granddaughters Jennifer and Josie. Jennifer and Josie would spend countless days and hours with their Grandpa Hill. They later gave grandpa many more adorable and loved great grandchildren. Ronnie, his son stayed aside his dad for most of his life. They had a loving bond that was never broken. Ronnie and his wife Debbie gave grandpa his only grandson Chance. Although Chance came later in life, grandpa watched his grandson grow into a successful young man. Chance, Jennifer, Josie and all the great grandchildren were grandpa and grandma’s sunshine.
Ron was a perfectionist in everything he did, and if you hung out with him you would need a lot of patience. He could build fine furniture, overhaul an engine, or completely design and fabricate an item of need. He was a gifted artist and painted many mountain and wildlife scenes. He enjoyed racing at the drag strips in the sixties. He owned a Willys jeep and along with his friend Ray Huffaker who also had jeeps, they would go camping and hunting. Ron had a special gift with animals, they loved him, and he loved them back. The bond with his dogs, horses, cats and even some cows was a joy to see. It was different with the fish though, when fish heard his name, they would quake in their fins.
At the end Ron battled cancer for two and a half years, and finally left his pain behind to join those waiting for him in heaven. He has finished the last roundup and rode life’s journey to the top of the mountain where he will meet our lord upon the horizon. We will remember him and cherish the day when we can all be together again as Jesus promised through his death on the cross.
Ron is survived by his wife Shirley; his son Ronnie, and his wife Debbie, and grandson Chance Hill; his daughter Connie, his granddaughter Jennifer, and her husband Art Garza; his granddaughter Josie and her husband Pete Rithmiller and numerous great grandchildren. Rest in Peace Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Friend…
In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made towards a memorial bench in Ron’s name.

Ronald Wayne Scott - September 17, 1938 - January 26, 2024

Departed: 01/26/2024 (Loveland)
Obituary Preview: Ronald Wayne Scott, 85, of Windsor, CO, passed away on January, 26, 2024, after a long battle with heart disease and dementia.
Ron was born on September 17, 1938, to Clarence and Audrey Scott in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Puente Union High School, where he enjoyed running track & cross country, playing clarinet, and tripping a faulty fire alarm to force school evacuations.
He served in the United States Air Force Security Service from 1957 to 1960, spending the majority of his military career in Turkey, where he monitored Soviet missile launches during the Cold War. He loved Turkey, had lifelong friends there, and late in his life made several “Bul Runs” to Istanbul with some of his service buddies.
He finished his military career working with the National Security Agency in Maryland. It was then that he met and married Bessie Marie Scott in 1960. Until the end of his life, Ron would often say he could still remember how she felt in his arms their first dance. Bess left the dance early, saying she had church the next morning. Instead, she slept in, and when her mother returned from church, she handed Bess a program from the service. At the top was written “Bess, where were you? Ron”. That program is still in the family to this day. They were married on October 1, 1960, and moved to the Los Angeles area, eventually settling in Diamond Bar, CA, where they had their only child, Wayne.
Ron had a long career in aerospace. And while he had the privilege of working both on the Saturn rockets that sent the Apollo astronauts to the Moon and on the Space Shuttle program at Vandenburg AFB, he was most proud of the six years he spent in Iran as a Tech Rep for Northrop’s F-5 jet fighter. What he loved most wasn’t so much the aircraft, but working and building close relationships with the Iranians. Whether that was getting to know the Iranian Air Force personnel on base, or sharing tea over a fire with a shepherd out in the country, Ron had a deep love of the Iranian people. Upon retiring in 2002, Ron and Bess moved to Windsor, CO in order to be closer to their son Wayne and his family. Sadly, their dreams of traveling the world in retirement were hampered by Bess’ poor health. After she passed in 2013, Ron made up for lost time. In addition to the Bul Runs, he took a European river cruise, and traveled the country from coast to coast in his 2015 Tesla Model S P85D If Bess was the first great love of his life, that Tesla was the second. He. Loved. That. Car. When asked what Bess would have said if he had told her he wanted to buy a car that cost over $100,000, he smiled and said “Not ‘Hell no’, but ‘Expletive expletive Hell no!’”
One of Ron’s favorite pastimes late in life was going to Grimm Brothers Brewhouse where he would sit with his friends at the table reserved for “The Wrecking Crew.” There he would drink a Fearless Youth, snack on contraband Cheetos, and “tell lies with the guys.” When his health became too poor to drive, his caregivers would make sure he got to Grimm’s several times a month.
At the end of 2022 as his health declined, Ron moved in with Wayne and his partner Kimberly. They, with assistance from wonderful dementia specialists and hospice workers, cared for him until his passing. He loved Kim’s cooking, and each night before dinner would exclaim “I haven’t had a bad meal here, yet!” To which Kim would reply “Well, maybe tonight will be the night.” It never was.
Ron is survived by his son Wayne, his grandchildren Samuel and Sara, his sister Diana Ekedal, and nieces Kristen and Teigen.
Ron will be interred with military honors at Fort Logan in Denver, along with his beloved Bessie. Much to his dismay, Fort Logan will not allow them to be buried in his Tesla.
A gathering to remember Ron will be held at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (815 14th St. SW B100, Loveland, CO) on Wednesday, February 7th, from 2-4pm, which will include a memorial ceremony with full military honors.

Obituary Preview: Beth Ann Firestein passed away on January 21, 2024 after a nearly three-year battle with pancreatic cancer; she was surrounded by loved ones in the final weeks, days, hours and minutes of her life.  Beth was 66 years old.
Born in Houston, Texas on November 20, 1957 to Rabbi Louis Firestein and Margaret Firestein, both now of blessed memory, Beth was the oldest of four children.  In the course of her life, she lived in Texas – Houston, Austin and Dallas; Carbondale, Illinois; and in Loveland and Berthoud, Colorado.  She loved her native Texas, as well as her adopted home states of Colorado; and Hawaii, where she owned a second home for years and spent much time.
A graduate of Southern Methodist University and The University of Texas at Austin, Beth earned her Ph.D. in psychology in 1987.  She spent ten years as a university administrator specializing in counseling students; during this period and throughout her career, she published widely, especially on topics relating to psychology and LGBTQ issues, both areas being dear to her heart.  Throughout her life, Beth was a tireless advocate for women's rights and LGBTQ issues.
In 1996, Beth launched a private psychotherapy practice in Loveland, Colorado, quickly attaining a substantial client base.  She retired from her private practice in this field only after her cancer diagnosis in April 2021.  Over the course of her career, she helped many people and touched a myriad of lives in positive ways.
Toward the end of her career, Beth launched a "Wise Women Group," which became a safe and valued space for the sharing of experiences and life challenges among a diverse and welcoming group of older women. In 2022, Beth published "Women Sharing Wisdom: A Facilitator's Guide to Starting a Wise Women Group," her last major publication. It is a collection of nearly 160 discussion topics that pertain to women and the challenges they face as they age. Beth saw this as one of her greatest legacies, something she hoped would endure and be promoted in perpetuity; her intention for the book was to encourage other women to start their own groups.
In 2018, Beth married Gene Arts of Berthoud, Colorado; she and Gene first met on September 1, 2011.  In their more than twelve years as a couple, including over five as a married couple, they reveled in each other, hiked, camped, spent time in Hawaii, traveled extensively and lived life to the fullest. From her earliest childhood, Beth loved horses and learned to ride in Austin in the 1960s.  From 1996 to 2023, Beth owned her beloved Arabian, P. J. Ferrari; working with P. J. for nearly three decades – P. J. was healthy and energetic, like Beth herself – Beth gave expression to her avid love of horses and all things equestrian and became an accomplished horsewoman and jumper.
Beth loved and cared for animals throughout her life:  Trixie, Tippy, Beau, Elvis, Meshugenah, Puna, Kashi, Kibble and Breeze, in addition to P. J., were some of the dogs, cats, guinea pigs and horses she loved dearly over the course of her life.
A proud progressive, Beth believed in tolerance and treating people (and animals) with kindness.  Her spirituality was informed by, but not wholly contained within, the tenets of reform Judaism.  Beth was proud of her Jewish heritage and identity.
Beth is survived by her cherished husband Gene Arts and son Ben Arts (Andrea) grandchildren Mia and Avery of Lafayette, CO, as well as her beloved brother David Firestein, sister-in-law Jessica Firestein, and niece Eliana Firestein.  Many other family members and friends miss Beth sorely, as well.
