Mr. Sam Earl Broadway - December 22, 1940 - June 14, 2024

Departed: 06/14/2024 (Monroe)
Obituary Preview: Mr. Sam Earl Broadway was born to the late Clayton Broadway, Sr. and the late Kattie Lotharp Broadway in Anson County, NC.
Earl received his formal education in the Anson County School System. He retired from Wiscasset Cannon Mills in Albemarle, NC after 35 years of dedicated employment. He enjoyed singing and sang on the church choir for many years. Earl was united in marriage to Lene for 58 years and to this union and they were blessed with four children.  They made Locust, NC their home. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor ‘sometimes’. Earl was very fond of his goats and pigs but had a special relationship with his dog ‘Bo’. He was his yard companion. Although he was “tight” with his money and would say “I ain’t got it, I declare I ain’t got it”, Earl was a very giving man, especially to the homeless and less fortunate. He opened his heart and home to many in need of food and shelter and was a very good cook. Earl enjoyed sitting on his porch with something cold to drink, his telephone, and phone tablet with his ink pen. He would make his calls to check in with family and friends and he would always meet his call quota by calling two of nieces, Delores Hammond and Tina Davis for their 100-question weekly check in. He always had questions waiting for anyone who ‘dared’ to stop by. He had so many questions at a time that you couldn’t keep up with which one you were answering. He especially enjoyed working on cars, sitting at the picnic table with his brother Clayton ‘June’ and family and friends. Earl was well known for busting and selling wood and scrapping every chance he could because he was always looking to make a ‘dollar’ during his retirement.
Earl was affectionately called “Daddy” by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Daddy showed his family that he was a true fighter and fought hard until the very end. His strength shown then and throughout his life will allow us to see the sunshine again and fight on until we meet again. Daddy was loved by many and especially us and he will truly be missed by ALL OF US.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his son, Tony Collins; a great-grandson, Christopher Borders; seven sisters, Evelyn Broadway, Johnnie B. Ingram, Minnie B. Rorie, Katie B. Davis, Lucille B. Parker, Hattie B. Rorie, and Mary B. Townsend, three brothers; Truman Broadway, Roosevelt Broadway, and Clayton Broadway, Jr.
Earl leaves behind to cherish his memories, a loving and supportive wife, Hurley Everlina, two daughters, Candi Broadway of Locust, NC, Sissy Griffin of Albemarle, NC; two sons, Samuel Broadway,  Earl Broadway (Jennifer), both of Locust, NC; seven grandchildren; Trinitta Broadway, Kira Griffin, Anthony Griffin, Whitney Griffin, all of Albemarle, NC, Terry Broadway (Crystal), Essynce Broadway, Elise Broadway, all of Locust, NC; five great-grandchildren, Kareem Hewitt, Nevaeh Thomas, Theron Mock, all of Albemarle, NC; Norah Broadway, Maddox Broadway, of Locust, NC; four great-great-grandchildren, Ja’Zhyrn Hewitt, Ja’Zelle Hewitt, Kaylani Hewitt, Barrington Broadway, all of Albemarle, NC; one sister, Genova B. Griffin (Paul), of Oakboro, NC; one sister-in-law, Shirley Broadway, of Locust, NC, along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at Fairview Church of God, 13703 NC-742, Polkton, NC 28135.  A public viewing will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Little Jerusalem Holiness Church, Brown Hill Church Rd, Locust., NC.

Mr. Seabern Staton - June 08, 1939 - October 02, 2023

Departed: 10/02/2023 (Monroe)
Obituary Preview: Seabern Staton was born to Bruce and Sarah Ann Staton, both deceased, in Union County, NC on June 8th, 1939.
Seabern received his education from East Union School, which was K-12 at the time. He went on to drive dump trucks and 18 wheelers for over 50 years for 3 different companies. Pops accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Flint Ridge Baptist Church. He married his sweetheart Christine in 1968 and they started growing their family shortly afterwards. He was ordained a deacon in the church during those early years.  As his faith grew, he accepted the calling from God and began to preach God’s Word from the pulpit. He was the pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Polkton, NC for many years. He also served as an associate minister at New Grove Missionary Baptist Church before coming back around to become an associate minister at his home church of Flint Ridge. He served faithfully until his health started to decline.
Pops gained his wings and stepped into glory on October 2,2023 to join his parents, 3 brothers, Paul,Roosevelt, and  Wilbert, and his forever love Christine Bowman Staton, in paradise. He leaves to cherish his memories: 2 brothers, Thomas Staton (Katie), and Bruce Staton. 3 children, Jackie Staton, Seabern Staton Jr. (Tanisha), and Perry Staton (Kia); 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family that will live on for generations! It is with Love and Admiration that we rejoice as Pops has walked into Glory! These are things that you all may know about our father, but this is what we know and want to share with you!
Our Pops was a Father, a Hero, a Guardian, and our most steadfast supporter. He would want you to celebrate in his homegoing knowing that this is a day that he has prayed about and has spoken with each of you about.  He'd want you to remember him with joy and love and laughter! I know that he would want you to thank God that he got his reward and for you to be mindful about your relationship with God.  Pop would be more concerned about your soul because he wasn't concerned about his. That's why sharing the joy of the Lord with people was such a great source of inspiration and joy to him.
Daddy loved telling funny stories, singing, and eating good food. And he loved his family with undying devotion.  He believed in each one of us and was proud of us!  We'll always remember the times that he would shout with joy, praise God and cry with gratitude when talking about his kids, grandkids and 1 great grand! The example of love, gentle leadership and devout commitment kept us faithful in good times and bad. When you think of Daddy, Pops, PopPop, Grandpa, Papa Pookie, Pastor Staton, Minister Staton, Uncle Seab, or even just Seab or Seabern, however you knew him, we want you to take a moment and thank God and rejoice in the Lord for the man of God that Pops was and to share that joy with someone else.
To know of Seabern you had a certain understanding, to know him you had complete comprehension. If you got the chance to even be in his presence, please know and understand that was God blessing you with his angel. If he ever told you he loved you, he meant it. If he spent time with you, it's because your soul was pure. If he said thank you, it came from the bottom of his heart. If anyone should be thankful it is anyone of us who was blessed to have him in any form, shape, time, or capacity. It was truly a pleasure to have him here for the eighty-four years God loaned him to us. God knows we needed him but He needed him more. Now we have a forever Guardian Angel watching, protecting, loving, and guiding us for the rest of our lives and beyond. Thank you, God, for blessing our presence with him. From our first interaction until our last embrace. We honor you. We love you, we cherish you and we give God all the glory. You did amazing Daddy, well done, well done, well done. Until we meet again Pops, rest easy your work here on earth is complete.  We will forever be grateful to have been blessed to love you and even more blessed that you loved us.
